Definitely don’t want welfare spvp gear or pve grinder fractal gear in pvp.

Having spvp be anti-mmo style paper doll is the core problem, it should have rewards for your real toon. The current spvp just does not work, it needs to be split in 2, keep the existing system of generic pvp as “gpvp”, and real instanced pvp with your real toon.

Its too boring to do more than a few times as is. Reminds me of how boring Arena was after a single season… Would love it to be more like warhammer’s scenarios, and fight with your guild/friends vs enemy realms.

While I think Spvp needs a lot of love, the gear system is not the problem. It would help to give exp for PVE to make it more popular.

While I agree that server transfers have ruined certain communities others benefit from it. I am sure that some of the servers that got transfers and are now thriving because of it are not too upset about free transfers. The way I look at it is that our bracket system is somewhat like a sports playoff that never ends. If every sports team could have their same roster indefinitely the playoff would become totally stagnant. The server transfers are a bit like a draft and retirement in how they effect the teams. In sports there is always an influx of new talent and the old guard is slowly fading out. For individual servers the transfers are either terrible or great and it is very polarizing. For the overall community it keeps movement in the brackets and the opportunity for suffering servers to start to succeed. The transfers create a more natural death and rebirth kind of cycle.

Even sports have a transfer period. You cannot change rosters during the season. Same with the server transfers. If it is so easy to transfer you can just hop to the 1st ranked server, its going to be very boring. Notice how the losing servers don’t get mass influx of players.

There is also another way to buy exotics( Power, Toughness, Vitality).

Go to orr and when the temples are occupied you can buy exotic armor pieces for 42000 karma per. This is what most WvWers do when they hit 80 after leveling in WvW. I think for Pow Tou Vit gear there are like 3 or 4 light armor pieces you can buy total from temples. Each temple armor has different stats for each piece, but if you go through them all you can buy like 5 of the same stats on different pieces.

So after you buy them with karma(which you should have plenty of if you WvWed or PveEed and did dailies and monthlies.) fill in the rest with dungeon token exotics, TP gear or badge exotics.

I know most of my dedicated fellows in JQ won’t agree, but I would really like going to T2 for a change. Most of the people who came to JQ to get their map completition, free karma and level their alts already left, many important guilds lost a lot of people that quit playing.
Free server tranfers support people/guilds that only care about winning, even if that means transfering to a server to take towers with 40-people zergs, while there are only a couple defenders inside or none at all.

So honestly, I couldn’t be less worried about leaving T1.
I had my fun with HoD and SBI, and ET and IoJ, and many others. I was lucky to be there when caping was something you did fighting, not just walking through an empty tower, when money you spent in upgrades was worth it, when T1 was a WvWvW, not one-colour-borderlands. So really, I can’t complain. But now I’m looking forward for more even and entertaining matches.

Thing is that we actually have the ability to do well in T1. Just a couple weeks ago we were only a few thousand points on reset. The problem is that we don’t have multiple big guilds like SB or SOS does(not saying JQ doesn’t have any but overall) and as a result we become less organized when less experienced commanders are online(not bashing our commanders, but this is the truth) and have random participation rates every week. In one word, JQ is like a PUG server; everyone does their own thing.

I do enjoy being in JQ where many smaller guilds participate in WvW and JQ has a great atmosphere, but I understand it does get frustrating at times when you call for defense at a tower, but only 2 people in the zerg wp back to defend it.

It is very difficult to kill a good tanky elementalist. Thing is, they look like immortal god trolls but in reality they barely do any damage. Either burst them down, wait for allies or crawl away. They can easily follow and catch up with you of course, but again they can’t really kill you (if you are decent).

This. Even with all the might stacking, you might think they have high burst, but after the initiall burst, tanky eles have very little sustained dps because the cool downs are relatively long. So as long as you don’t go full berserkers, its going to take a long time for them to kill you 1v1.

My main is a d/d ele mostly on wvw, when I fight against a zerg, I just rtl straight into the back line where other staff eles or rifle warriors are since they are usually non-tanky. When I hit someone and i see little damage? I just ignore them or hold them until my team comes. So as long as you gear up for some survivality you shouldn’t be dying to one 1v1, but at the same time you probably won’t kill them before they run away.

actually most D/D eles will be full bunker with using might stacks for damage. With the fury boon from changing atunements you will get around 10 might stacks with +20% crit chance. 1v1 you probably won’t affect much with arcane thievery since D/D eles get so many boons in such a short time. Also, confusion doesnt really work on its own since every 10 seconds eles can just attune to water to cleanse 2 conditoins(don’t even have to use a weapon skill or a utilty)

The most effective way to kill these eles is to stun lock them so they can’t dodge around and heal them selves and run away. However, mesmers lack the mobility to chase them down after the initial ccs so its pretty hard to kill them 1v1(unless of course the d/d eles are bad and tunnel vision to their death).

In Spvp its different since you want to stay in the cap zone so d/d eles can’t just rtl away, but i’m no expert in the area.

Also, I would like to add that Dd eles have really obvious motions in pretty much all their offensive skills, so make a lv2 ele in spvp and play around with it to see what they look like. Each of these skills have a long cd(especially cc skills) so when you dodge one of them it hurts the ele.

Did SoS secretly best all the EU servers while I wasn’t looking?

If you look at the ratings of each server, we are ahead of the top European server. In fact, both JQ and SBI are ahead of VS.

Ratings only matter regarding teams of the same bracket. Since NA teams only fight NA servers, the ratings on NA cannot be compared to EU server ratings.

thieves and guardians can block siege projectiles. Its just that their blocking skill area is smaller so its harder.

Only thing that cant be shielded is the balista and eles cant shield these either.

actually you could use karma to exchange exotic armor from the temples and turn 4 of them(which are soulbound) into unbound exotic armor to sell on TP.

If you have 10 million Karma thats worth around 77 gold.

I haven’t done this myself but this is just an example.

if you get free waypoints on every keep, its going to be even more static.

Do you know how harder it gets to take a keep once the wp is finished? Reinforcements come every 2.5 minutes with 10 supplies.

Also, the map is small enough as it is, especially EB.

Also I would like to add, if you can spare the coins or decide to level on wvw for the most part, put your traits into defensive traits(toughness, vitality) and use CC and buff skills + invul skills.

These skills work at the same effectiveness as a full exotic lv 80 characters’ skills while the toughness you gain from traits will make you at least tanky enough to let you use them. If your build is full damge(power, precision) and you are not lv80 you will drop like flies to random aoe or literally a single shot from certain characters. If you are not alive, you cannot cc or buff allies.

So like always SBI got 2v1ed. We were down to Veloka and our keep. While we were fighting JQ zerg in Veloka, the SoS zerg skip our keep and came attack us from behind. After killing most of us, SoS pulled back and let JQ finish the job.

Yes, also as a sign of everlasting loyalty to our SOS overlords, we gave them ogrewatch and pangloos mine just now.

I am having trouble in one borderlands map. I lag a lot and dc frequently. Howver, in other maps I can play fine. It is not a matter of having too many people because I am lagging when we fight 3v3 or something similar. Its been happening all day in that map, not just few minutes or hours.

I am not the only one experiencing this issue as multiple others on the map have said they were laggin throughout the day.

Its quite simple to negate some of the shielding when you are the one firing the trebs..

1. aim a little left or right after each shot
2. when you are shooting multiple trebs, do not fire all at once.

While your are mindlessly spamming 222222 the eles actually have to watch the projectiles to shield it. Also you need more eles to shield than the number of trebs. So I say its not broken and working as intended.

What is incredible to me is that SBI and JQ attack each other at all. It is almost as if neither really care about first place any longer. If anything I see us fighting JQ more. It boggles my mind.

With the amazing coverage SoS has it will take a combined effort to keep SoS at reach throughout the week.

What the leaders of SBI and JQ are not seeing is that if both focus on the true threat it gives both servers a much greater chance of winning at the end of the week.

This is what I propose…
SBI stay off JQ BL unless it is to flip SoS gains than leave…JQ do the same on SBI BL.
SBI take the keep and towers on the closest side on SoS BL JQ do opposite.
In EB split it down the middle and agree the only priority for SM is to NOT let SoS own it…push them back to their spawn point and keep them there.

Do this until SoS is in last place and continue to push them down further.

Try this strategy instead of focusing on one another while SoS runs away with it.

Actually JQ usually attacks whoever is in force in the JQBL from my experience. Its a way to pull off the enemy zerg. If they don’t pull back, then well we will just trade on each others borderlands. This week we don’t have enough numbers to do this, but this has been the case for other weeks. The reason it seems like that JQ is attacking SB more is that usually, is that simply SB doesnt defend much as SOS. Seriously sometimes when we zerg through SB BL, I see one defender the whole time we ram through the hills keep. SOS usually has much quicker response time.

Perhaps this is because SB is suffering from decreased WvW participation and need to juggle people between borderlands, but nonetheless it makes it easier to attack SB borderlands than SOS;s

i find myself aimlessly running around in circles in WvW just to have things taken from you the second you leave because no one has ever heard of defense.

Actually this depends on the server. I’m on JQ and I have had to defend 6hour long sieges(non stop waves of invaders) on a single keep. That day when I logged in I did nothing but defend hills on my borderlands. There has been multiple occasions like this so I guess in the lower tiers its different? or time zones maybe.

what if you die from random dcs? the repair bill from 1 death is hardly anything worth complaining about. if you have so many unintended disconnects that the repair bills start to add up to a significant number, you should not be playing any mmo.

actually both sides have invul zones below the cliff. But if you are attacking people there it is your fault for following them all the way to their spawn.

The player is obviously very skilled, and I talked to him after I got sick of seeing a helpless mob chase him around and went to help and we finally downed him. What I gathered its clear he was just there to have fun, drag out as many people (victims) as he could and have them be props for his videos.

That’s fine, but the topic should really be about what the title suggests. Should a build be able to do this, no matter how good the player? I really don’t care for these bunker and endless escape specs coming into WvW just disrupting the natural design, for no other reason than that such things like the video are possible, and its more fun to run around like a demi-god than just be a grunt in the army.

A build should be able to be either very survivable OR have great mobility and escape, not both things together. As a Necro I can build to be very survivable, but I can never build to have great mobility. This was the tradeoff designed on purpose as explained by Jon Peters. What is the trade-off here in this video? You don’t have to make one. Can say maybe that they hit like a wet noodle, but obviously you can still get kills as in the video and are virtually assured to eventually win any 1v1 if you are pretty good.

D/D eles need to be mobile because they cannot weapon swap. If they allowed weapon swap so we can adjust to range like anyother class can do, it would be fine to take away the mobility. However, if Eles could swap weapons, there would be some ridiculous one hit combos or perma healing eles. In the current state, D/D eles have one skill with a range of 600.

Also, the damage in the video is pre nerf. You cannot have 20 might stacks when playing alone after the EA nerf.

I will have to try that on my ele alt.

You have to watch the enemy if they dodge though. Because good players when they see an ele casting churning earth, they wait for the casting to end for the dodge. Lighting Flash becomes wasted if this happens.

A bunker D/D Ele can’t be solo’d for the most part. Neither can a bunker Gaurdian, probably a bunker Engi or Necro, nor just about any well played thief (doesn’t even have to bunker, they can just stealth and run away).

But, if you play right, they won’t kill you either and will end up running away (this is when his kills happen, as he runs and stupid upleveled noobs follow him behind a wall/tunnel/mountain and get solo killed rather than just forgetting about him and working on a meaningful objective).

Yes, there are other stupidly OP specs but does that justify d/d eles being this good?
Is it so hard to see that these specs, like the bunker guardian, some thief specs are too good/op compared to other classes and need to be nerfed/looked at?

This is not balanced, when a class “can’t be solo’d for the most part” there is something wrong.
d/d eles for example, can be “immortal”, if they see they can’t kill the people they’re up against, they can easily escape, if they kill them, they do.
Saying that “you need x to kill him” is not a valid argument, it just shows that there is an imbalance.

Bunker anything(ele, guardian, engi, necro , even warriors and thieves who are considered squishy and possibly others) is hard to kill solo. Especially if you run full berserkers. That’s the point of being a bunker spec. You soak up damage so others can kill. However, even though that ele in the video was killing everything its mostly bad players(with berserkers) or underleveled characters. Do you know how long a D/D bunker ele needs to fight to kill anything solo? Especially after the evasive arcana nerf.

Also, the video was pre-evasive arcana nerf. You can see he is getting ridiculously high might stacks from blast finisher from EA, but this is not possible anymore.

I cannot get much if any better at playing a Warrior, I have 1000+ hours on my Warrior where a lot of that is spent in PvP. I’ve invented lots of builds that the people in the guild I am in, are using.
There is no way, no damn way I can kill 4-6 players that are all on me at the same time, I can down a few of them, maybe, but I can’t hope to reset the fight/finish people while invulnerable or out heal their damage.

D/D ele will never be able to burst people down like you can while still retaining as much defense as warriors naturaly have.
Eles can never hope to cope with large amounts of cc as well as warriors can.
In team scenarios, eles can never push into enemy zergs the way warriors are able, atleast without quick retreat right after initial push.
Any good warrior could propably add some more things to that list, those are things i´ve observed my guild mates doing.

Actually I find, D/D eles to be the best at pushing enemies away. Warriors do not have the mobility of D/D eles to just go straight into the back line without dying or getting perma cced and return to your own zerg alive after your initial rotation.

It’s an annoying noob bunker build – completely useless. If you’re not running a staff for walls or focus for swirlies then go play another class. Waste of ele.

Basically the build tries to outlast an opponent. They always open with their knockdowns then try to hit you with Churning Earth. Super predictable.

It’s not useless. Even if you are built D/D you carry around a focus and a staff, if you are anyway decent or semi-serious about winning in WvW.

From my experience, D/D is great for pushing the enemy out, as you can RTL straight into the enemy back line, throw a bunch of AoE CC and damage. Many of the classes that stay in the back line in battle tend to have non-tanky builds, which leads to these “bunker” D/D eles hitting them hard(especially with all those might stacks from the sigil and traits) and they start running. After you throw everything and soak up the damage with various skills like mist form, dodge and etc, you can just RTL back out to your own zerg.

After you return to you zerg and see how much the enemy group has been pushed out, you will be amazed. Staff or focus eles cannot do that as they can’t put pressure on the back line like D/D eles do. However, they are good for sieges for both attacking and defending sides.

If you find D/D eles lacking in group fights unless you are right next to a wall, you either don’t have the right items equipped or playing too cautiously. D/D eles have so many gtfo abilities you can afford to just run into a group of 20 ppl and throw your stuff and get out alive(maybe with 10% hp but still). Also, abusing culling helps. If your group starts running towards the enemy group, chances are that you are invisible to the enemy in the initial stage of the fight, so just RTL right in.

The idea of a 3 team fight is that when one team gets bigger and stronger, the weaker 2 would form an alliance to keep the big team in check. Even in history there were a few occasions like this. However, this is not the case in GW2 because you do not actually hold the territory like in real life, but for points and staying in tier. In real life, if the biggest team builds up the military to annihilate a weaker country, another weaker country would help the attacked country since if they fall the 2nd team is also in danger as well. However, in GW2 if the biggest team kills off the weakest team(or the one attacked by the biggest team), it means that you are not 3rd place and gonna stay in the tier. So it becomes easier to just 2v1 one team and fight the rest 1v1 with the other. So in theory the 3 team setup could have worked, thats probably why they chose to do it this way.

honestly, I dont care if they restrict pve gear in wvw or not. Exotic gear is pretty easy to get anyway(not regarding the looks of these gear). You can even buy exotic armors with Karma at Orr, and mix those with other dungeon gear, badge gear, TP gear, etc. As long as they keep the ascended gear easily available in the future, I don mind having pve gear in wvw. One thing that bothers me tho is the lower level characters need their stats buff to at least 80 level rares, since they die in like 1 sec to random aoes.

If the charged lodestones go up in prices, it will be incentive enough for people to go to COE. When people start looking at the prices and try to farm COE, the prices will stabilize. Nothing needs to be done.

JQ are being try hards again this morning….but some REAL solid organization with Patone/Grekkz/Archangel kept our group tight. So despite only having around 35 for all of EB….30 were usually together.

Oh and Portal bomb central today…..good job Patone.

Lol, I wish JQ was tryhard. Most of the time we don’t have mesmers to abuse culling with or have enough elementalists shield treb shots. I think its because in EB we don’t have a decent sized group of single guild members like WM or others, but the commanders make it work somehow and a few like-minded people that like to flank. Seriously when we actually have a mesmer in EB and try to portal bomb, we get like 4 people standing on the portal even if we spam “portal come here”

Seriously if you are dying from HS spam thieves or BS thieves with a d/d ele , you are doing something wrong.

you have so many skills that can stop their burst after the first hit its not even funny.

As long as you are paying attention, there is no reason to die to one.

One possibility is that you are running damage utilities like arcane blasts and such, but when you start running cantrip survival skills you will never ever die to a HS or BS thief 1v1

today ive seen people log off even before going down. I know they didnt stealth or anything because when I crippled them they stopped running(esc and looking for logout button) and stood there for couple seconds and disappeared.

This is getting funnier everyday. Seriously people want to log out requeue for a border just to avoid death?

Lol. Thats me in the picture. Initially we were just trying to flip some camps, but SB kept chasing us in the invul spot. So we were like “are they serious? they can’t read the invul, invul, invul?”. So we just stood there for quite some time just farming badges. I don’t know why people think 10 enemies with multiple mesmers, eles and guardians won’t stun lock them and burst them down, but they just kept on coming.. trying to kill us in our invul spot.

Also, I would like to add that thanks to these nice people donating their badges, one of our guild members was able to make a twilight.
