1. Stat change on the fly when out of combat
2. If not purchased with money the journey of crafting all the pieces needed ( excluding the random for the precursor)
3. In the ***opinion*** of some they love the look.
4. For me getting mine is a nice status symbol for myself. Yes a legendary is old news but for me I like seeing the skin and know I worked on all the materials to get one.
I can’t stress the word opinion on reason 3 enough.
~I’m right and you are wrong if you disagree, this is not debatable.~
I will still play GW2 if there is no expansion as I have zero interest in the WoW expansion. I know all of us forum posters know how to run an MMO and keep a community intact more than the actual companies (we are just too busy to make our own) but I would think Anet is fully aware there is an expansion coming for WoW and that they will need to add new content/features to keep this theme park relevant compared to the other parks around.
Play whatever game is enjoyable to you.
Seems like a troll post but if you don’t like something….don’t use it. I rather them ban forum topics like this before getting rid of solo que.
When the dragon attacks the humans are no where to be found. After talking to their respective leader they let you know that they would love to help stop the big dragon but a band of 5 level 10 centaurs are currently roaming around Queensdale and taking up 90% of the human army to keep at bay.
On alts being able to work on achievements. I can agree on that I do them on my ranger but having the ability to use an alt without doing the content again would be a nice feature for people.
For the “Kids” & “Elitist” You are telling them to contribute and be helpful. Your original post just says they are too hard. If you asked a specific question of I need help with X achievement I feel you would get more helpful answers from the general public.
I think GW2 has them in jumping puzzles and mini dungeons but with dulfy.net and just the web in general secrets are nothing special anymore.
Just like back in the day the Konami code was amazing because it was word of mouth or whatever media outlet you used to discover it. If Contra came out(using contra as its the most famous use of the code) people would find it online in two seconds and just take it for granted.
as a new player, one thing this thread has done was curb my enthusiasm for trying out dungeons.
Try out the dungeons, just be honest and speak up that you don’t know the dungeon. People are willing to offer help and direct the group if people admit they are rusty and don’t remember the dungeon or are just new to it.
Random guy and myself led three new players in the CM story when I was leveling an alt. We explained the dungeon and progressed, some hiccups but other then that it was fun to lead people who wanted to be educated and improve their game play.
LFG is to help people find like minded individuals to run with. I have no requirements when I run my group because I like it care free and sometimes an additional challenge of shouldering the load or not stacking.
There is nothing wrong for a speed run player or anyone for that matter to form a group with their own specifications. If he wants to kick you because he hates you name..that is totally fine.
The elitest are not preventing you from running a dungeon, they are just preventing you from running in their group which is fine.
I only see this argument valid if there is a lfg just saying p1 with no written requirements as that can be annoying..but again their choice and it is your choice to start a group or try to join one.
Hearts are great early on but at level 80, you can cruise past them and once they are done they hold NO value to you. I know events repeat and can be tiring overtime but they add longevity as you can do them X amount of times and they will always be there.
OP, I respect your opinion and give you credit for posting in a world where posting the cure for cancer will still get you ripped a new one, but I must disagree.
I play gw2 with my older brother (50, last video game system he owned was an intellivision.)
He completed the entire story segment of Dry Top by himself and last night it only took me 8 minutes to talk him via mumble on how to reach the jumping puzzle which he was able to get to. The jumping around the map 99% was hitting 1 while auto run was on or holding foward or making sure the green circle was on a flat surface for the lighting jump. I think Gw2 did a good job of adding jumping but did not go overboard that it alienates population. It has only been released for 2 days.
As ZudetGambeous stated.
Edge of the Mist might be the quick way to level but as your first character you would taking away a lot of what the game has to offer if you didn’t do the map exploration.
Wonder if they could add a Keg Brawl solo que and team que with leaderboards.
Couldn’t hurt and another activity to get people working together, no issues about classes as it is a set in stone skill set.
I like the idea for the chests in Dry Top. It is a seudo time gate? I think it adds a bit of artificial longevity in the map as you can’t have 20 lock picks and burn them all in an hour as you find all the chests. Time frame adds a little suspense and makes the journey to getting the chest rewarding(i think obsidian planes in Asheron’s Call)
Hopefully they try other ideas in future maps as one method won’t appeal to all. They need to make the journey to the chest fun as unless you get a really lucky drop the items are only going to be subpar or salvage fodder.
Anytime to start is good but now is ideal as a new living story is starting and you can unlock all of them for when you hit 80.
I’m ok with the cosmetics in the gem store. I don’t care for a lot of them and I bought the game a long time ago for $60. If i was doing the regular $12 a month sub fee I would of paid a lot more. (add to the fact games where you pay a monthly fee and there is a huge wait in updates)
I don’t mind throwing some money to Anet if there is something I really want as I’ve already put in over 500 hours into this game so about 12 cents an hour.
If you need to bring it down a level, you can log at Divinity’s Reach and listen to the Town Crier’s Love for pie.
OP there will be enough challenge to it that you can faceroll early and as you move up the ranks lose to players/teams that know your mechanics and simply out skill you.
Warrior is taken in top teams but not 5 of them so other classes do bring stuff to the table and if you 1 v 1 the best warrior in the game as a warrior he/she will beat you 10/10 due to skill. No top tier team will take you just because your class is warrior there is skill involved.
…and yes someone will come and say X class is easy..they say it about all classes. Easy doesn’t mean a lack of skill. Again if that was the case any warrior could be on a top team just by selecting the class.
I would support another rotating WvW daily to mix it up. Plenty of things to do in World vs World that would benefit the daily achiever and the server as a whole.
Have both at 80 I would say Ele. Thief is fun but I feel I offer more to the group as an ele and pvp/www is more rewarding as an ele in my opinion.
On the whole flipping of camps. They might take them back over (if you don’t defend it ) but if you and your team mates can bleed it dry and take all the supply that is the most important part or even work with the zerg and see where they are going next and have the camp already taken so they can get supply and run.
I would give the new achievements coming in LS2 a try and if they don’t meet your expectations I’m going to say that GW2 is not going to cater to what you need an end game.
I heard Wildstar has gw2 like fighting mechanics but with set roles so that might be more your direction. (pure rumors as I have never played)
You bought the game but are you still paying to use their servers which host the game? Gw2 does not charge a monthly fee to keep servers/development up and running so they need other ways to get the cash flow required and there is no gun pointed to your head, you are free to play and never spend an extra dime if you so desire. Other MMOs once you stop paying your initial purchase of the box game is useless.
This topic has been done to death.
-People have been elitist in every mmo(some who are not even elite) get over it
-Create a group yourself.
-If this is a clever way to bring up pve balance, already been done 5 times over.
On the twitch earlier today, they stated the achievements would be player skill based so i don’t think you’ll see the kill X amount of centaurs.
I hope for more challenging achievements. The top acheivement reward chests can be earned with current game content. bi weekly carrot on a stick achievements would be nice so there is something to go after once we finish the story part.
Currently there is no way to replay the old living story so having it for free and a micro-transaction if you can’t log on is a better state then the current “2 weeks or nothing.”
A lot of people seem to fully understand how living story season 2 is going to play out. Are you in a private beta or just taking the selective reading to fuel your own debate.
In an MMO it is impossible to have a free flowing story with progression. You can’t force everyone to beat the same content at once so the whole world changes at the same time. If you change it that when someone kills scarlet the entire event ends for everyone..enjoy those tears on the forum.
Awesome post OP.
Still no pay to win as others have stated so I am happy. How little vacation we get at work anyhow I don’t even see myself being gone for 2 weeks straight…or if i even become so lucky just have my wife/brother/dog log me for 2 seconds.
It creates more holes in your pockets since you have to pay for past journals.
Only if you want..the current format there is no way to get to a story you missed so the new feature does not affect anyone that doesn’t want to spend the cash or 30 gold in game, your world remains unchanged.
…
Of course speedrunners wont, but speedrunners don’t drop as much money as casuals anyways.
Source please.
They just had to monetize story as well, didn’t they?
Other than that, I like the changes. I might actually check LS season 2 after all.
People who don’t log in once every 2 weeks to download the story are not spending gems anyhow. This is probably just going to tag the games that go on a 2 week vaca and can run a few dungeons to get the 20-30g to unlock it without spending money.
“People are quitting the game because best itens are almost impossible to buy and the best ways to make gold are being destroyed by gw2. "
people are joining the game because best items can rarely be purchased anymore and the lack of trains is adding more diversity for gold making in gw2.
No facts behind the first claim…so the second claim is equally valid.
1. Active Combat
2. Chasing achievements for all the yearly events.
3. PvP’ing on an elementalist.
Are you burning your dodges on regular hits? I see a lot of Kill shot damage and with the charge up it is more forgiving to the defend to prepare a reflect or a dodge roll.
More than numbers would be needed to really make an educated guess on what needs to be fixed. If three warriors wanted you dead, I hope the other 4 members of your party are assaulting the other points and your death was not in vain.
Thanks for the detailed description and break down. I was going to work on my warrior while we have the month break until LS2 and will def. give this a few hours in pvp to see how it feels.
You at least know when it is coming. cancel your monthly sub. and just resubscribe June 30th so you are all set to go.
Your steam back log will thank you.
shamless ego boost but Liadri does not need a nerf.
Fresh air build with no runes/sigils/foods. Stay near the middle in phase 2 and drop the orbs early and you’ll be fine.
I rather Anet focus on more content than a meter.
-Form your own LFG party tailored to your needs
-Seeing this is about pugs your friend list might be barren…..why not friend the people that meet your criteria for future runs.
-you can join 4 guilds. Main guild, Tpvp guild, World boss guild, like minded dungeon running guild.
The tool would help some people but i feel a bit more effort can be done on the player side.
Agreed. More variety the better and this is a really fun event.
If the others can’t figure out to attack the thing with the two red crossed swords on the map then no design would ever be good as this is as simple as it can get.
All silver goes to repairing lion arch, greedy people.
On a side note, I still enjoy the Gauntlet. I beat it last year but now beating it on an ele. It is ok to enjoy stuff without rewards periodically.
Cheese is just an excuse so they can tell their online buds that they never lost a fair fight. Anything that beats me is cheese..so I am currently undefeated.
I like the way they are taking things, but with a large community they need to take it slowly or make the idea obvious so the drones can pick up on it seeing there has been months of zerg for the lootz mentality.
Said it on another topic but they need to color code the boss icons on the mini map to show the level of scaling that is happening so there is some indicator on where you are needed.
The problem with this event is not the event itself, and players are only a fraction of the problem.
What we are missing for this kind of content that requires more coordination are the proper tools to be able to monitor and complete it.
Commander tags just don’t do it properly for this one and can too easily be used to troll.A simple improvement that could do wonders would be to display ALL the bosses life bars at the same time regardless of the zone you’re in.
So if you see a life bar that does not go down, go there !A second one would be to have the number of players in each area displayed as well, but I doubt that is even possible.
That would be a giant step in the right direction for every player.
i think this is the key to really helping people out. Taking out people trolling as i feel no matter what any company does there will be people who will always find a way to get attention from a bunch of online strangers.
If they can’t show numbers of players at a certain boss there should be a color code on the boss icon that indicates scaling.
White= No scaling currently involved
Green = First tier of scaling
Yellow, Orange, Red…….you get the idea.
This could help and it reduces the need of the commander tag as users will see a red boss icon and realize…ok everyone and their mother is there. I’ll help out on the green one.
Seeing China just got released I doubt you will see this downscaling past this event. We all know how fast you can level compared to a typical MMO so by the next event or LS2 there shouldn’t be an issue with level differences.
Even adding a small participant counter to each zone might help spread out the zerg. As others have stated sure with a full raid you can do well but when you join a server at random you are at mercy of the lemmings that follow the commander.
GW2 will start fine but randomly times (5 minutes-35 minutes) The screen will go black and I’ll get the error log and that the game crashed.
Here is the crash file.

Going to throw it out here, are you lagging? Are the servers struggling with the amount of people logging on due to patch.
I appreciate this update/nerf/buff/whatever. I cheesed the monthly at times doing the train so glad it will help people branch out.
