Thief
In addition to a few bug fixes and slightly toning down the poison duration of Choking Gas, thieves will be looking at a few new survival and support options via traits. Sharpen your blades, pack your pistol powder tight, and fletch your arrows: Invigorating Precision is coming your way, which will heal you for a percentage of your outgoing damage on critical hits.

and there are more grand master traits being released. Why don’t you breath a little bit and wait before you burn down the entire place.

When did this game become such a grind?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Technically everything is a grind but compared to other MMOs, the leveling process is quite fast. Do the quests, do hearts and keep up to date with your personal story. It gives you competitive gear for your level and a bunch of XP.
Been awhile but i would say at least half a leve in exp.

AS the majority said, go with whatever you find fun or what one you and your friends think is the best benefit to the party.

I never got kicked from a party on my ranger and if I did, easy enough to find another group that is friendly and doesn’t get kittened if you are 5 seconds behind schedule.

I think Gw2 adding Hard mode/Elite runs of dungeons could be a good answer to add some challenge to the players who have mastered the explorer dungeons that they can go zerk and spam 1 (Yes over exaggeration but it gets the point across) without trying.

Leave the current dungeons as they are, playing with people less skilled actually requires the use of a lot of skills I don’t normally carry or not part of the meta to gurantee a successful run.

In the elite add some elements that would not force an entire gear change but possibly a rearrangement of utility skills. COF elite run can have a heat wave affect on bosses so using a water blast finisher or using range over shadow refuge would be needed so your self heal alone won’t save you. Some buffs/debuffs that make a boss focus on one person but reduce their dmg and increase toughness where the rest get damage buffs or something. I think this is where Arena Net can redefine dungeons and add some cool abilities to avoid the dps zerk fest but also offer something outside of Tank/dps/healer.

Playing both styles I enjoy GW2 dungeons more so than a holy trinity due to the combat mechanics. Yes everyone is just a dps. From someone who tanked +7 years in various MMOs, I am glad I can do this and not just have to use aggro generation moves and stand it front of a mob.

It is easy to dumb down the experience on both sides. Are people using blast finishes on certain aoe fields for might, heal, weakness on packs of mobs etc? Does your tank now when to pop defensive cooldowns and healers know when to get ready for a big heal, etc etc.

I think if GW2 wants to win people over is to make some new dungeons with tough boss mechanics that are for 5 mans. I think they did an amazing job with the world bosses but Anet gets attacked due to the amount of players required and how it is only for big guilds. If they had a challenging boss fight in dungeons that was just 5 man I think there would be a more positive spin.

Fractals have a great challenge come +30 but I think the majority of people who are unhappy have yet to get to that level…but that is only a guess.

Focus. Make some noise!!!

Hah yes. I blows me away how many people chose to just whine instead of optimizing their builds for the content. I only wish we had a build save feature like in GW1. I would be willing to bet that there is a huge portion of players who googled “Best X Build” and run it 24/7 through all content; no trait swap, no weapon changes, no utility changes.

Agree 100% on the player mentality and the save build feature.

Even with the world bosses who can’t be crit, the zerk gear units are in full force. I think a lot of that is from the HT MMOs. One DPS/Tank build to handle all content.

Should i be worried ?

The just spam 1 argument.

Is that against gw2 or tanking in the holy trinity. Tanking has become a joke in MMOs where it is just spamming 1, holding aggro is not an issue and you have 2-3 utility skills that help prevent/absorb damage.

Suggestion: dealing with dead ppl

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Difficult to make the choice. If the dead are few I go for the res but if a zerg of zerglings are getting chewed up by the knight pull then I view it as the event will fail due to a lack of understanding of the telegraph attacks and coming prepared.

When I mean prepared (judgmental) but I make the following assumptions: No food buffs, no Vigil buff, probably a lack of understanding of solid damage rotation going full zerk for the pew pew and no PVT gear/valk gear int he inventory to switch to if learning encounters.

Unless you have done every single soloable achievement in this game I don’t see why you are complaining. Group achievements promote working together as a group. Just listing the ones you can’t do alone makes it sound like it is a huge drama when you neglected to post all the achievements that are possible solo.

Missing this one achievement does not prevent you from doing anything in this game

If you want a bunch of loot boxes to open the champ trains are in full force and last more than two weeks. It might not be the greatest story in the world but it is entirely on par with mmo story lines. (because Chris Metzen’s WoW story line was the finest writing in all the land)

I’m against AFK but if the event is successful that works for me. Everyone and their mother will have the Hero of Lion’s Arch title anyhow so it is not like this achievement will grant them any superiority over the others. (because online status/ego matters)

If it was for a distinct achievement like the Queen’s arena then I would be upset with them leeching. As long as the content is fun I don’t mind others getting whatever they want as long as it does not affect my game play.

I agree with Traveller, something small like a choice with small changes in dialog that lead to the same result. Best they can offer.

in Ranger

Posted by: Clear.8512

Not sure if this has been discussed but could it be possible to make the spirits our pets. F1-F4 would summon one of the spirits.

This would require entire trait lines to get reworked and weapons that have syngery with pets to change. Maybe doing a said move forces the spirit to do the effect it currently has or ANet can create other affects.

Only 1 spirit at a time (good bye spirit ranger- or allow traits to have multiple summons) but it could open up the beast trait line to an entirely different avenue, sorry this was a quick write up but something to look into.

Is GW2 Fun Yet?

As someone who took a 4 month hiatus and came back only a few weeks ago I will throw in my ideas of what has changed.

Dungeons: They are the same minus a lot of the cheesing of bosses has been removed. There is also gold insensitive to run multiple wings and not spam COF 1 over and over. The LFG tool now makes it easier to run dungeons (story and explore) that I never got to in the past.

Spvp: As stated changes are coming. AS others have stated there are a few new maps and some balance changes. You will still see thieves but it is not 5 on a single team anymore and the skill cap of the players for the most part is better. Rarely see a HS spamming thief in my gaming experince.

Living Story: Missed out on some fun bosses. Also it looks liek Anet is slowly moving away from the zerg. The first scarlet event was about zerging one area to spawn champions and increase your loot bags. The escpae from Lion’s Arch was a zerg until people learned you need to spread out and save citizens to hit the 1200 mark and get the loot bag with the best chance of rare items. The zerg is not entirely dead but you can see the steps Anet is taking.

World vs World: There is WvW rankings and levels to get for a carrot on a stick. The new edge of the mist map is a really fun battlefield that has some pve elements thrown in as well.

World Bosses: Need a lot of people but a straight foward zerg mentality will wipe the party and fail the event.

Fractals: new maps, new challenges once you get past level 30. (fractal level is shared on your entire account now)

Crafting: Ascended is a long process and takes awhile to craft your gear. I don’t think you can level it to 500 like how you could with 1-400 with just 20g.

Overall I am happy I came back. I was playing final fantasy and that was getting old.

bad communicated content

Clear.8512

I agree that some of it is not clear. ( I read the patch notes but can’t assume all do)

Without force feeding all the answers, going foward they should have voiced announcements from the general and have the OfW do text bubbles when you run by them.

General announces to focus on citizens but after that he should have phrases when a certain number is reached so you know you need to keep going.
“Good job so far but more people are in danger! etc etc”

Order of Whispers can just have small chat bubbles: Psst, help guide the citizens to me and the order will ensure their escape"

More organized zerg'ing! I was told!

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Clear.8512

Clear.8512

If you zerg, you wont get 1500 survivors and the rewards for 1500 survivors are significantly better than the zerging.

Pshaw, the first time I played through it a giant zerg in an overflow got 1500+ survivors. The reward? A couple of extra bags full of garbage…yay?

This is just Queens Jubilee mk2 with worse loot.

and if you zerg you get a bunch of extra bags full of garbage but little no percentage of a good drop or loot from previous living stories. the 1500 bags have garbage but also chances for some rare loot hence the race towards 1500 over champ farming.

There are always the mindless zergs but there is plenty to do to help the event by making small groups and taking on some of the challenges. Even last night when I was getting my hierloom achievement done I was saving the civilians that don’t have an event on them and we got really close to 1000 civilians saved. Those bags are what give the real loot and mindless zerging to the events scale too high will limit the amount you save, limiting the amount of good item drops.

They have two weeks to develop content and I think they are slowly on the right path. Can these events be improved, yes I think there is plenty of potential.

Bought the game at release and played pve everyday and took a hiatus after downing Tequila about 3 weeks after he was released(just establishing went i left the game.)

I enjoy a game more when I’m a needed asset to my guild/party and potentially fill a role that not many people do. so instead of using my thief I would use one of my alts or just start making a new guy from scratch.

Classing I’m interested in.
Guardian: I lean towards a brusier/tanky build but not sure if guardians are still a dime a dozen in Wvw
Elementalist: From what I read they are not in the greatest of spots but the play style seems really addictive.
Necromancer: Always looked fun, would be willing to build one from level 1
Warrior: Same description as the guardian.

I searched and it seems most posts were before the all the updates so not sure how valid they are hence the new post.

Appreciate any feedback.

BTW: I would enjoy playing any of those classes so the play what you find most fun is invalid for this potential discussion.

People keep saying grind/casual but give no clear solutions or a clear picture of what they see as just having fun compared to work/grind.

From what I read.

Orr events, dungeons, dailies, jumping puzzles = Grind. What exactly can Arena Net do that you would think…oh ascended weapons amazing. (minus the fact to get rid of them, moot arguement seeing they have been mentioned in the past and in game)

Do you just need to hit pretty button?
Maybe a challenging dungeon with a special anvil at the bottom to morph your exotic gear into ascended?

Give suggestions, it is like that old commerical where people go eww there is trash on the ground and then walk right by it.

On a side note: I don’t feel ascended is a grind but it is difficult to engage in conversations when it is just complaints with no idea of suggestions.

After five minutes of being continually oneshotted it became to annoying to be fun so I quit.
