You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see that this thread is going to end the same way. I’d work on your delivery.
Just telling it how it is. If some precious little soul takes offense to it, that’s their problem.
It’s against the rules to talk about any authority’s actions or to question them. It’s against the rules to talk about any threads that have been deleted. This thread will be deleted soon.
And of course writing it into the book of rules makes it all okay…
Level 80 Ele, 75% map completion.
That sounds like a worst case scenario. Some events are much quicker and give the same amount of XP. Some events even involve killing mobs to complete the event, so you have the XP from mobs and the XP from the event.
Need to be booted out the door.
I’ve not seen communication between developers of a game and their community this bad in quite some time.
This morning, I made a thread about an certain issue.
Here’s the link to that thread: Link
EDIT: I seem to have messed up the link, but it works.
I won’t go into details of what the thread is about, you can read it if you want to know.
Anyway, the thread was originally titled “Yo ArenaNet, where are my coins”.
Now, someone saw it necessary to remove the “Yo Arenanet,” part out of the title. Was this part of the title redundant? Yeah, sure. But was there really any need to remove it? No.
I posted a reply to this thread, pointing out that a staff member had taken the time to alter my title, but not bothered to comment on the issue (in my or anyone else’s thread regarding the same issue).
I come back to the thread several hours later, and now the post pointing out what had happened has been removed.
The message was not at all abusive, just pointing out what had happened.
Seriously, what the hell. If you’re going to dictate what your customers can and can’t say, there’s really no point in having this forum.
Note: I have not received any moderations or PMs regarding either of these actions.

So it’s been about more than 15 hours and a lot of people aren’t getting their gold back.
21 hours since my sword apparently sold, still no coins for it.
Still no comment from ANet other than; it should be working.
Um…. Lol……….. I am currently on a short business trip on the other side of the planet, and not only am I able to dodge things like your average mob’s attacks, pre-nerfed dungeon bosses, players shooting at me in WvW, Eternal battle ground jumping story turret dodge, personal story….
I can admit that sometimes I die, but dodging them is entirely possible. All you need to do is either guess when you opponent is doing something hence dodging 2 secs in advance, or just dodge 2 secs in advance in general. :P Can’t wait till I get back home!
I look forward to hearing how easy the Source of Orr is with a high ping.
If you ever get to it…
Anyone still missing gold/items/etc?
Many people.
He died of laughter from people spamming ‘2’ for five minutes.
The End.
That’s not good to hear.
This time for me it was only 70 silver, but I was planning on buying level 80 exotic armour soon. If it buggers up then, I’d could lose much more.
Foolish me, assuming someone has just done something wrong when I see them complain about mysteriously losing money.
Well, it appears that’s not always the case. Yesterday I put a ’Rampager’s Sword of Earth’ (level 76 Exotic) into the trading post and it seems that between me doing that and all the problems with the trading post, I’ve been left with nothing.
Now, compared to some other items, the sword is not worth a lot, but I also don’t have a lot of money at the moment, so 70 silver is a decent amount to me.
When I go to the ‘Items I’ve Sold’ list, it appears there as being sold (16 hours ago, as of this post), but there are no coins for me to collect.
I would like to know if ANet are going to do something to help people who have been screwed over by yet another one of their bugs, or are day one supporters going to be told to suck it up and sod off.
I had a bit of trouble with this one, primarily due to the fact that dodging those things on the ground is not easy with a high ping (I live in Australia).
I tried about 5 times and hopelessly go nowhere. I tried once more before I would get help and after managing to get past the ground laser things, I managed to find a safe spot for the next stage of the fight and didn’t take any damage.
This was using elementalist, though.
Well the last boss fight (if you can even call it a fight) was a complete waste of time.
Tap the number 2 key for five minutes… That’s… literally all you do…
This game has a lot of good stuff going for it, but my god the personal story is not one of those things.
ClemThanks, but I’m going to let logic prevail and not waste my time trying it.
That’s not letting logic prevail, that’s letting closed-minded preconceptions prevail.
Sure, if you say so.
Really?… Is this the best thing you can do to limit gold seller spam?
I keep getting this, despite not saying much at all.
Hmm… Seems it gets even worse.
I now have to do a dungeon for my “Personal” story.
And of course, I can’t find anyone who wants to do the dungeon. Hate it when I can’t play a game at my own pace.
ArenaNet, your quest design is godkittenabysmal.
Throughout the personal story the difficulty has been incredibly inconsistent.
The early quests were easy, as you’d expect.
Around the level 30-60 stages, I found the personal story incredibly hard. I was dying many times and finding the only feasible method of killing the harder foes was running around in circles for half an hour while blasting spells at them, which is quite dull and quite boring.
Then between 60-80, I found the personal story stupidly easy.
And now, I’m trying to do ‘The Source of Orr’. At the beginning, you’ve got this decent sized army right in front of you. So yeah, this looks pretty promising, good army to help, shouldn’t be too hard.
But… The army aren’t following me? Why are they just standing there? WHY ARE THEY THERE AT ALL IF THEY’RE NOT GOING TO HELP!?
Another thing I’d like to point out is; when you choose to make the personal story server-side, it makes it REALLY kitten hard for people who don’t have a GW2 data centre in their country.
It’s pretty hard to dodge things when you’ve got a 270ms of latency to deal with. I’m currently tying to fight the eye thing which shoots pink stuff across the floor which, like I said, is very hard to dodge with high latency. Also when I die and respawn at this boss, he regains FULL health. kitten!
ANet, clean up your quests and for the love of god, allow boss calculations to be done client-side if the player is doing the personal story solo.
I could see gamepad with this game being a viable option. Don’t knock it till you try it.
Thanks, but I’m going to let logic prevail and not waste my time trying it.
Please someone tell me why on earth you would want to play an MMORPG with a gamepad?…
Good thing you chose such an appropriate title or I would have never known this thread would be about GW2.
188 hours.
Come at me.
Down again, right when Shatterer was around 15% health with like 10 people fighting it.
I’d be raging.
kitten EVERYTHING in Orr.
Finally 100% the three maps in the Orr region today (would have done it days ago if they weren’t all so buggy), good riddance to a truly rage-inducing area!
Game randomly crashed for me, so I’m guessing it’s down.
You can buy gold with real money so instead of hoping for less moneysinks you better prepare yourself for even harsher money sinks in the future to come.
That’s what happens when people want to play MMOs without subscription fees.
Have you seen what ANet charge for gold? Stuff that. I think it worked out to be something like 1.5g for $10.
Now I don’t really like the idea of purchasing gold, but they should either remove it or make it a reasonable price.
I realise it’s an F2P game, but they should find other enticing things to sell (as long as it doesn’t turn into some TF2 hats crap).
Anyway, that’s getting a bit off-topic.
As a thief, i die A LOT, if im swarmed and i dont make a lot of money in game, i should start focusing on that i suppose lol
I’m in two minds, removing damage in wvwvw is a good idea. Warhammer never had damage to armour because you died just so much.
Then again, (apart from the long walk which is easily player rectified) what penalty is there.. Again Warhammer had a great idea… a health debuff for a few mins that stacked.
HOWEVER, this isnt warhammer but there should be some form of penalty.
But does there need to be a penalty for dying?
I guess I sort of imagine WvW as some worry-free fun.
If there is a legitimate reason for having a death penalty, than that’s fair enough, but I currently don’t see why there should be.
Is it suppose to prevent people suicide swarming places and dealing maximum damage?
If that’s the case, surely the long walk back would make that an inefficient tactic (defenders could just get themselves together while attackers walk back).
But i don’t have the money right now
is there anything else to just get my fps to 35 ? ( gpu is video card right ? )
so maybe buying the hd 6670 will do something?
How much RAM are you rocking? GW2 can use a lot of memory (I’ve seen it over 1.5GB), so if you’ve got something like 2GB of RAM, upping to 4GB could help a bit.
Really though, other than setting everything to minimum, there’s not a lot you can do (that would make a significant difference) without upgrading your hardware.
Don’t upgrade your GPU without upgrading the CPU, like others have pointed out, you’ll still be bottlenecked by the CPU (same goes for upgrading the CPU without upgrading GPU).
The game is not the greatest of ports, you’ll need to upgrade both your CPU and GPU to get decent performance.
I wouldn’t look at anything less than a Sandy dual core (ideally, quad, but this depends on your funds) and something like a GTX 460 or 6850 (these are pretty cheap now).
Basically, looking at your current specs, you’d need a completely new PC.
It seems like a redundant and unnecessary feature in WvW, I think having to walk all the way back to where you were fighting is enough of a punishment for dying.
Personally I have more than enough coin to easily pay for repairs, so it’s more of a small inconvenience for myself. However, for people with less money, I can see them being put-off WvW due to repair costs.
And for the people who aren’t entirely put-off, I’m sure it makes some of them stick to the back of the pack, instead of getting up the front and putting pressure on the opposing team.
While I don’t hang up the back and run away when ever I see danger, I’m also not likely to run in Rambo style with my lightning hammer (not that that usually ends well for me…).
Maybe it’s there to keep WvW from being packed? If that is the case, equipment damage should be disabled during off-peak times, to get people into WvW.
Thanks for that info. Unfortunately, like you said, “soon” really doesn’t mean much.
Waypoints seem a bit costly, but I really have no problem paying it (have over 19 gold).
It’s not like I rarely use them, either. I don’t mind a short walk, but I’m not going to walk across a map to get somewhere.
Got 19 gold so far, you tell me.
Haven’t gone out of my way to make money, now that I’m level 80, I’m working on map completion.
Would love to start buying exotic stuff now, but I’m not going to buy something if I don’t know what it looks like.
I know ANet have said they’re working on a preview for the Trading Post, but does anyone have any further info on this?
Or they use it for crafting?
Well then surely any intelligent person would sell the stuff and then use that money to buy more materials then they would have gotten from salvaging.
Selling high level white/blue/green items to vendors is pretty much always more profitable than salvaging them. The monthly achievement is there to give people more of a reason to use salvage kits even at max level.
Exactly, I wonder if the people claiming to salvage hundreds of things actually realise this.
I managed to get 500 salvages just doing general farming in Orr.
By the way, I’m a level 80 and the reward I got for my monthlies was 52 copper, 7k experience and 20 mystic coins
The last part was nice, but the first two parts felt…pretty underwhelming.
Wow… What’s the point of even having an experience reward if they’re going to give a level 80 7k experience.
You can still gain skill points after you reach 80. So lvl 81 = lvl80 + 1 skill point.
Yes I realise that, I did say I’m level 80. I’ve gotten 10+ skillpoints from this.
What I’m saying is; why give an experience reward if it’s going to be so small and insignificant.

I don’t even….
All of the daily and monthly achievement requirements are things you’re likely to do throughout the day or the month… Except for one…
I’ve never had a problem getting the daily challenge, sometimes I may have to go out of my way to get 3 or so different kills for the kill variety, but that’s about it.
The 50 PvP kills I guess are a little bit out of the way of normal play, but they’re quick and FUN to get, no big deal.
The salvages, however, WHAT???
Before I went out of my way salvaging items for the monthly achievement, I had 23 item salvages (after two weeks of playing and getting to level 80).
I got to 180 salvages before I bothered to check how many I needed for the monthly challenge. When I saw 500, I said balls to this and stopped.
It’d cost like 50+ silver to get that many salvages and I’m almost certain the achievement reward would not be anywhere near worth it.
Is there anyone else who feels 500 salvages is a stupid requirement for the monthly achievement, or do people actually salvage that much stuff, without trying (I cannot imagine why anyone would…)?

Just loaded for me, servers must be getting hammered.
Cause I sure as hell can’t.
Downloaded the patch, am able to log in and choose my character, but that’s as far as I get.
It just hangs on the loading screen (Fireheart Rise).
That stuff is so over-done in the Orr region. Trying to get anywhere in any of the Orr maps if just frustrating. It’s not challenging, it’s bloody annoying.
Just experienced this bug when fighting Jormag.
Was trippin balls when I heard it.
It started a few minutes into the battle and after about 15 seconds, the game completely froze.
Was able to ctrl+alt+delete and kill the GW2 process.
Started the game up again to continue fighting Jormag and the sound was there right away, this time the game did not crash and I was able to finish fighting Jormag (with the sound turned off, of course…).

Yes, there are quite a number of Ele traits with very vague descriptions, would really like to see these cleared up.
If a mod sees this, be good if I could get this thread moved the the General forum, which was not up when I created this thread.
Thanks.
I drive a liquid-cooled Alienware Aurora R3 with an i7 2700k CPU overclocked to 4GHz. It has 8 GB of 1866 RAM and 2x Nvidia GTX 560 ti SLI. I am getting about 40-80 fps at 1080p on high (autodetect) settings everywhere including wvwvw. My 3DMark 11 scores for my desktop:
X2898: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/3883215
P8299: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/3883418According to 3dmark, your CPU runs at 2.4 – 2.8GHz
Your GTX core clock is at 822MHz.
Your RAM is clocked at 1333MHz
where’s the overclock? And btw, your performance score should be way higher than P8300. At least P10500 with that setup, after OC of course.
3DMark does not correctly display current/exact clock speeds for all chips.
But yes, his score does seem low for this gear which he claims is overclocked. I manage just over 9,000 with a 4.5GHz 3570K and 1050MHz (1180 boost) GTX 670.
Nice find, but their numbers seem a bit low.
I’m running a 3570K + 670 and I’m getting better frame-rates than they claim (looking at their 2500K and 3930K charts).
I’ve been playing playing this game for about two weeks now. This is a game I was very excited for, it was top of my list (along with Planetside 2 (which will be getting an Aus server)).
For the most part, the game has been very fun and enjoyable, however something that greatly disappoints me is the lack of Oceanic servers.
When I first started up the game, I was both surprised and disappointed to not seen any servers for the Oceanic region and I don’t understand why they would not be there.
Other games (including large MMOs) have been able to maintain Australian servers, so why is it that the biggest MMORPG in about 6 years is unable to do this (or should I say; unwilling)?
I live on the eastern side of Australia (Queensland) and ping ~275ms to the US data centre.
Now some people will probably want to say a ping like this is fine for an MMORPG, and for most games in this genre, they’d be right. However, this isn’t really the case with GW2, mostly due to the dodging which plays a big role in GW2 combat.
I’m finding this latency pretty border-line, it’s playable, but it can get frustrating.
Thoughts?
It’d be good to specifically hear from people who live in Australia, New Zealand or surrounding countries and their interest in an Oceanic server.
