Gaming is about “giving players something to work towards” as much as playing cards, checkers, table games, soccer, basketball, any other sport with your friends is about “you beating them and winning at all cost”

…i am really disgusted theres a whole new generation of gamers that dont know how to just “PLAY” to have fun, to apreciate the artwork and soundscore delivered, to just be, but what even disgusts me the most is tired old vet gamers that lost their pace and supports this frenetic devouring pace for gear, the blind path-chaser leading nowhere but to frustration.

Just knowing that i need to bow myself to the bad taste of this kind of gamers to have a populated game, just makes this all thread worthy of a sticky in my book. So you can all watch ANet do what you want and go down in flames, because what these devs dont realize is that your kind of gamers is the first one to jump off the game when the new flavour hits the market…

Me? I play the same 2 games for over 6 years now. I was hoping this one to eb the 3rd….but gues the “manifesto” is weak in the force.

Mesmer Damage Nerf

Illusionary Berserker has not received a direct damage decrease. Instead, is seems that the damage reduction you (and I) are seeing is most likely associated this fix:
“Fixed a bug that caused many piercing, boomerang, and bouncing projectiles (those that hit more than 1 target) to continually increase in damage the more targets they hit.”
We are aware that this particular phantasm is now experiencing a significant drop in damage and are looking at getting it back to a more effective state.
Thanks for keeping the post civil and constructive!
-Karl

Not only the Berzerker Phantasm deals less damage, but also the main great sword atack also pulses for less damage.

On top of that, i had a boss encounter yesterday where seems to me that the berzerker damage was paralel to the great sword damage i was dealing, according to a given distance.

Using other words: if i was closer to the boss, thus dealing less damage with Spatial Surge, by berzerker would also deal less damage. Is this normal?

Also, since when is that particular phantasm a “bouncing projectile”? Is there a skill where i can pick it up and throw it in the air at some1? … Plz fix this.

Im runing low on patience with everything going on with this game….

Gear progression - alteration mechanic

An excellent idea replicated by a transmute stone…

Not sure i understand what you mean there Can you elaborate plz?

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation_Stone

They let you create items with the appearance of one, but the stats of another. Given your stated goal of this suggestion is:

Add a mechanic component that allows players to constantly upgrade their exotic/legendary gear to be at par with every new gear added to the game in terms of number stats.

They fill it exactly, because when you upgrade to Ascended gear, you want to replace all the stats on your exotic with the Ascended stats. Only the look will remain.

I dont think that fits in the purpose of all the pros i listed in my inital post.

Furthermore, the goal is to keep all invested-time-earned-gear and be able to use it in all instances of end game content available at par with every new gear added, and not destroy one in order to be able to keep a given skin with end game stats.

Of course you don’t see the problem….because you are the problem. I’d even agree that it is possible that a large number of gamers do like magic find…..the say way the majority of people in real life would like the opportunity to get rich quick at somebody else’ expense. The majority of people in this world would shoot you or kill you to get what you have in a heartbeat if it was allowed and had no negative consequences. People are just like that. That’s what rules and laws are for…and in this case..game design. I’m sorry that you apparently fall into the lowest common denominator category, thinking that there is nothing wrong with carrying your ton of magic find while everyone else does the heavy lifting, but I don’t think its okay…and a lot of others do not think its okay. There are plenty of other games that have also proven that it is not okay. Logic and common sense prove that it is not okay. It has nothing to do with not wanting to spend the time to get a second set for magic find. It has everything to do with not creating a handicap situation for the rest of the party…that has not agreed to carry you to victory.

The problem to each side is the other. Therefore to me , you are the problem. See how things turn so easily when we base this on simple opinion not formed by anything that proves … well anything at all?

You say it was proven right? So be my guest , show the proof.

Saying something like im in the minority server no purpose , can you prove im? Cause i could say you are the minority also. And now? Who is right?

Till you bring proof , saying you are right is a subjective thing , you cant confirm.

Well, it is not that hard to make proof. Im gonna try.

- With magic find: forked option, allowing players to opt for a MF as 3rd stat in detriment of one that would allow them to better play the game, just because the design is available in the game and other players are using it, thus making the player feel if he doesnt also do it he will be slow pacing his progression.

- With no magic find: everyone at same level.

Now with moving objects

- With MF: the balance is uneven, pending to one side or the other
- Without MF: the balance rests at the middle.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

As i only seen this thread now, ill post here the same ideas i shared on other post. TY for the patience.

Hello ANet,

following the recent talks about Ascended Gear, i must say i am very disappointed about the possibility of ANet abandoning the gear horizontal progression adopted by GW1 design, and loved by many players around the world.

But, and as this game is called GW2 and one has to please Greeks and Trojans, if ANet decides to tread along this old troublesome game design, i have a suggestion.

Add a mechanic component that allows players to constantly upgrade their exotic/legendary gear to be at par with every new gear added to the game in terms of number stats.
This mechanic could exist in the form of a simple quest, with crafting professions playing the majority of the effort while the rest could fall on a given number of required tokens to complete the upgrade. These tokens can even be the same as required to purchase the new items added by the given new added content.
Would not require a new NPC design, as our most beloved Zommoros can handle it in perfection.

I even have a name for it: Eternal Reforging

This would allow for ANet to project a steady grip in the balance between old and new content (i think no developer likes to see empty game zones in their games) giving a reason for new players to explore old content, and extending respect to all veteran players that spent hours playing the game and not allowing them to see their effort in the trash.

Pros:
- would extend respect to veteran players for their invested game time, allowing them to keep and use all their hard earned gear;

- would increase the gear endline base for new and veteran gamers alike, therefore making both old and new content desirable;

- would give a reason for new players to invest time in older content and therefore result in a balanced distribution of players by the game map, also giving vet players a reason to go finish something left behind, this would most certainly keep the game map alive and we wouldnt see ghost areas as it happens in every game with gear treadmill;

- would allow for a gear horizontal progression logic, but still adding the required play effort in the new content, making both Greeks and Trojans happy;

- would allow ArenaNet to stay true to the “manifesto” that i fiercely defend;

Cons: none.

Thank you.

I second Unanimous on his opinion.

In fact, ANet should remove Magic Find as soon as possible, removing all MF gear/item/consumables/mechanics from the game. This is a major concern for many of the players i talk to. Do no think for a moment that only because this topic does not have 1000 replies, players dont think about it.

It is a fail mechanic, a counter productive game design and doesnt bode for the main objective of the game: for players to have fun.

Yeah while you talk to many that do not i like i know many that like it , me included.

When will people learnt they are most likely never on the majority? At most they are on a big group , which does not mean that there are not other big groups that disagree with you for their own reasons.

Think MF is fine , it is the player choice to use it or not. People should stop trying like always to dictate how others should play their games , even more when most posts is about how they dont want to spend money getting a second set.

The issue here, and the major problem with everyone that uses the same line of thinking as you, is that you fail to see that this is not only a question of balanced opinions, or use of right of choice. This is a concern regarding also to all those players that do not have hours per day to spend gaming, but when they do game they primary concern should be having fun doing the content of the game at the maximum capability allowed by the games laws of design that should put them at par with every gamer in the same circunstance, and not having to worry about having a magic find gear set in order to have the same chance of loot, other than understanding that a player with more game time may have better game progression, wich is an unaltered aspect of every game design out there.

Unable to finish quest - inspector Levvi

Hello ANet,

i have been waiting all the weekend for a fix on the investigation chain quest. Since i was unable to get pass some bugged quests and now it seems that even after i was finaly able to speak to inspector Noll im redirected to inspector Levvi only to find out that…he is no longer there!!

So, my question to you is: will you give players a chance to finish this quest, or should i just trash the items and forget this quest ever existed?

Thank you.

Disconnected at the final phase! [Merged]

Hello ANet,

my friend has been enduring weeks and weeks of disconecting issues, bugged general content, and now a disconect right at the end of this main event. He couldnt even log back in. It took him almost 25 minutes to be able to log back in, only to find out that he had no credit at all, no loot, no fun.

Result: he desinstaled the game and i lost someone that i really like gaming with.

Now, and because hes the guild leader, almost everyone int he guild logged out and im left to wonder if instead of providing fun this game is all about making people mad for playing.

I really am hugely disappointed.
