Thanks for the feedback, folks. I appreciate your comments and will say that consistent, complex, nuanced characters and storytelling are absolutely my goal as well. I’m soaking up all the existing story that I can, via gameplay, wikis, our novels, and lots and lots of conversations with my coworkers who have great insights (and opinions) on our expansive lore. I really love the game and am excited to be a part of it moving forward. Keep the comments coming!

Welcome to the fight Lea

I wish you luck and a creative mind.

2 advices i can give you to help ANet turns this around:

1. “If you build it, he (us) will come”

2. Come up with a quick way to scrap current heroes, drunk yourself to oblivion with Guild Wars 1 lore and bring Destinys Edge to us. We need more significant dramatic and heroic content.

2. Bring Destinys Edge to us. Thank you.

:) Best of luck

It always amazes me how some people always tread lightly of a player leaving and then, if it comes to pass, this game starts to feel empty they always moan about it or carry on to next flavor of the month.

What is sad, m8, is that you actually took the time to write rabble rabble rabble sad, and it looks to me that you are the one craving atention.

Whatever.

To the OP: do like me, keep coming here in the hope things will change.

As an extremely mmorpg lover and a rpg long time player, i absolutely recommend you buy this pack and play it.

Not to fill the HoM, as it will take you a bit of time and effort, but to enjoy the depth that this game lore has to offer.

I recommend you play the nightfall campaign first and move then to the eye of the north campaign so you can unlock heroes to help you crack the content.

You can read all about them here

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hero

And get ready for some jaw breaking scenarios from a 2005 game and a awe rendering soundtrack by jeremy soule.

Hands down, the best rpg ever made.

edit: play it when gw2 server is down for maintenance

Is anyone happy anymore?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Clerigo.9475

Clerigo.9475

Theres a somewhat misleading idea that people that are happy playing the game doesn’t come to the forums, and that is a job for unhappy gamers.

I always visit the forums of a given game im playing, happy or unhappy, and i guess that puts me inside the small minority that loves GW2 and actually cares what happens to the game.
Im not just passing time while i wait for the next flavor of the month.

What ANet needs to realize, and i can assume they already talked internally about this, taking in account the number of red replies and the attempt to get closer to the community, is that if some effort is made towards giving gw2 world a bit of a push in terms of content and deliver what players are asking, inside of whats possible, this game is in for a long run.

Why not add the content that players want to see in the game?

Now compare this to what Anet is doing. Town clothes that can’t be worn in combat: who’s buying these? A minipet? Kit that repairs your armor…? Gambling for skins and items that give random temporary effect. All of this stuff is disconnected from the gameplay experience. You’re not going to see updates if the business is not generating money.

Thats it!! You are right!!

And that whym and in that spirit, that players should really make at least a small effort to just be open to every suggestion and help the developer understand what we want.

You cant just open a forum post that says “PLease make town clothes wearable in combat” and throw in an automatically “no, its fine the way it is”…

All im asking with this topic is for people to start making some effort to make this game a bit more enjoyable for those that need a bit more flavour in it.

If the players that are enjoying this game alot, dont help, who will?

Clerigo.9475

On the topic of “communicating with you”, it seems like this trend of “i dont care on what you have to say” amongst players seems to be of no end.

I appreciate the devs finally managing to have some time to come here and tell exactly what is ahead on the path to the future of GW2.

But what i would appreciate even more would be to see players trying to find a middle ground for the themes being discussed.

I see people saying “please anet dont deliver more dungeons, dont add mounts, stay the path”….i just dont get it and to me is just makes no sense at all.

Whats wrong with adding more dungeons for those players that want to do them?? lol, i mean, does it hurt your wvwvw gameplay?? does it hurt your spvp play?? will adding more dungeons affects your pet movement??

what in balthazars name is going on here???

Sometimes i feel like people..no no…not sometimes, people really dont know what they want!! Thats it!! Gamers are just confused all around!!

If the game starts decreasing in population, areas completly empty, wvwvwvw (see what i did there) and spvp deserted, ppl will start screaming at ANet for more population, and dont realize that maybe players are the main reason for that situation.

Whats wrong on giving a bit of everything to everyone??? I JUST DONT GET IT!!!!

Population is required for the continuous development of a game, unless the 50k ppl that will remain playing this game a few years from now ( i can mention other “revolutionary” games that are in that situation and others that no longer exist) are willing to spend crazy amounts of money every month to keep gw2 going.

A very “duh” way of keeping the popultion wealthy is to make sure everyone gets a bit of what they want in the game, without largely impacting the game (lyssa forbid if a 10 man large dungeons or raids were added in this game..i mean…pray to lyssa because that would ruin everything…)

If people want more meaningful dungeons to play and have fun with friends, why not deliver them??

If people want more fractals, why not??

If people wants more meaningful content in large cities and in the world map, to add some life and population to it, why in Mhenlo´s name not do it?

Man, if i was enjoying the game, doing dungeons and pve in general, and i saw a post in the forums from many people asking to deliver this or that to wvw or spvp, why in Glints forsaken fangs i would say “no” instead of, at least saying:

“hey thats not a bad idea at all, maybe if we did it like this, or in this way, or like that, we could find a way to deliver that to the game” <<<<————————— DO THIS!!!!! Geeezuzz!

I stopped playing GW2 last week, and i wont return until you guys deliver what was promised.

Normally I stop reading here, having us users stating that “things were promised” is the first step of devs ignoring us. For the record: nothing was promised as everything is subject to change.

Even if you seem to acknowledge the difficulty of finding something useful in these forums, you should consider: thousands of player replies with tens of thousands of different opinions.

doesnt really matter if he was technically promised or not, what matters is he isnt satisfied, and thus does not want to play anymore. Many people who have left didnt think they were promised something, they just left because the game didnt have enough new or interesting things to do.

Debating a promise or not is irrelevant, the lack of content they expected/wanted is why they left, promised or not.

keep telling people as they walk out of your business you promised them nothing, it will be similarly pointless.

I’m really sorry and i don’t want to be hammering down the same old subject, but the fact is “we”, or “i” if no one else wants to support my view, were promised something.

That “something” took shape through a number of media interventions that happened pre launch: interviews, developer diaries (i was so all over the amazing anet blog) and most important the ArenaNet manifesto that took by assault all gaming media websites all over the world.
Sure, you can have different interpretations of what was said at the time, but you cant say that GW2 is the game that ANet painted with those interventions and i sure can say with full heart, GW2 did not took the best out of GW1….and i am really sure about that one.

Now, people dont have to agree with my views on any subject or support them. I did stated that “i” was leaving until ANet delivered what was promised. But am i the only fish in this barrel? I am not.

If i didnt cared about the game i would not have played it for almost 2 years, when game content barely survives 6 month gameplay, and would not keep returning to the forums to see if something is changing the winds of Tyria.

I really hope Mr. Mike intervention is the start of something new.

Revitalize the Game World, Resetting Hearts.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Clerigo.9475

I support the idea of adding heart quest completion to the daily rotation. Adding 4 or 5 of these quests in different areas of the world map to the daily rotation and with increased rewards would for sure increase player population in low level maps, and that goes the same for world meta events that almost nobody goes in for a rerun. Some of them are great fun and ANet should boost largely the rewards for doing such events.
Not a big fan of monthly reset of heart quests.

Also support Mr. Ordon views, i mean, ill support anything when it comes to make the world map and the amazing cities that were built, populated.

Just a reminder of a ting everyone knows: people do it for the fun, but also for the rewards.
I still feel that, for a game that wants to take the premise of a “living world”, theres not much happening in living world atm.

Im glad you took the time to write something in the forums, to us, the minority that actually cares enough about the game.

I stopped playing GW2 last week, and i wont return until you guys deliver what was promised.
I really love Guild Wars, and i know its no easy task to develop such a game and constantly finding ways to please both greeks and trojans, but im sorry to let you know that GW2 should be sailing top ranks instead of being just whispers on the wind.

Looking forward to play this game again.

Anet is out of touch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Clerigo.9475

They don’t care about the small minority on the forums, they care about the vast majority of players.

They are finally producing the game I want. Maybe the problem is with you and not Anet…

SAB… worst thing to ever happen to this game, couldn’t be happier it’s gone.

FOV and 1st person view… waste of resources, not a good use of time, not how the game was meant to be played.

Commander tags… player speculation with no hard facts… about par for the course for players. I’ll withhold judgement until you know… Anet actually announces the feature.

Precursor crafting… You win on that one, Anet has really dropped the ball here.

So, instead of everyone trying to figure out where we can balance everything in the game and include what everyone wants in a certain measure, we just say “yes” to some and “no” to everyone??

That “majority” of players you speak of, are they included in the 3.5 mil copies that this game sold, or the actual 400k ppl playing it?

Just to clarify things.

ANet is listening to the majority of the non-forum goers players instead of the minority of players that come here and express their opinions…humm…ok..let me ask you this:

If that majority that doesnt come to the forums, how ANet knows what they want or not want?? 8th sense ability? Prof X works at ANet?

No, they just keep rounding small content and hoping ppl will stay a bit more. Thats all.

Not a kitten thing wrong with that. Well said.
I see a lot of opinions that range from No to Hell No, when they should be asking the question “How can I make this work in a way that I would like or would bother me the least?”

Features bring and retain players. Saying “No” to them leads to stagnation, boredom, and to be melodramatic, death of a game. Better to say “Yes, but with the following stipulations:” than deny what other players might want.

blind idealism…

Its funny, but would never think of “cooperation” and “understanding” as idealism…guess its a snapshot of the reality you live in eh?

“if we all work together things will be just better "… thats not an ideal?

anets authoritarian control over their product will prevent your blind idealism from ever ossifying into something the community will be able to whip out. because at the end of the day, we depend on anet for anything relating to the game and theyre a for profit corporation looking to stay in the black and not die trying.

The full quote is “So, if we all love the same game, why shouldn’t we push together, as a group, and help ANet find a better path, a better solution?”

That is indeed an ideal, but its not a blind one.

I think everyone understands that developers and gaming labels work for profit, as all other industries do. Im happy they have profit, and im happy to be paying for a game that i like.

What im not happy with, me and alot more people than some metrics claim to show, is that im part of that cluster of players that like to pay for a game and see that investment payoff, even if the game is not in perfect shape as was expected at the launch.
I can keep supporting the game if i see the developer working towards improving the game.
Now, improving the game does not solely pass by adding pixels and eliminating bugs.
Improving is also adding content, in a manner that respects both the developer team working behind the scenes, but also the players supporting the game, because thats where the money comes in.

This is a snowball, easy to perceive and avoid.

ANet shouldnt be afraid of turning the tables and give this game the direction is needed, because GW2 sold 3.5 mil copies. There are people out there that want to play this game but they are very disappointed with how GW2 turned out to be.

When we consider the number of copies sold, ANet knows that there are more people not playing this game than the ones actually playing it, and the fact that ANet doesnt take a dive in when they know this game is still talked around all the gaming forums in the world, that all new mmorpgs coming up are not as good as everyone wants to, it makes me a bit sad, because i want to play GW2 :P

Now, i dont see why the community doesnt embrace a wider range of content to add in the game. I dont really get it.

It would make many players remain in the game.
It would bring back new and veteran players.
It would allow the game to continue developing as the cash inflow would increase.

Thats my orginal intention with the post.

Why not add the content that players want to see in the game?

I see alot of things people ask for that do not require to change game mechanics or itemization, and others that would take alot of work but would make of GW2 the game that we wish it to be and that was promised to us.

Anything wrong with that?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I know from stuff said by devs that Anet puts a lot of stock into metrics. They’re always watching what people play. They have stats that track everything. They know exactly how many characters were killed by a Risen Thralls during the first year.

I suppose it’s possible to put too much faith into metrics too, but I’m not sure if that’s the case.

I think if Anet would release some of the metrics, people would be very very surprised.

Metrics are good, but there are few, if any, metrics for things that don’t exist. They can’t tell how many people are in a guild hall or how many times a kitten gets ridden, because null isn’t a number.

OP’s point is more relevant to new features and systems, which get their start either in dev rooms or player suggestion forums. Granted, once the idea hits the dev level, the players’ opinion doesn’t matter for squat until release, and after that, there’s metrics.

Though, yeah, you’re right, I think another infographic or something might give the players some interesting GW2 trivia on what exactly people are doing.

I understand metrics, and i can actually tolerate them to a certain point, or at least try to make some effort to understand them.

I would like to see the metrics for the 3.5 million copies this game sold crossed with the actual people of those 3.5 mil that actually play the game.

Can ANet show that metric please?

GW2 and mathematics - The Equilibrium theory

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Clerigo.9475

Clerigo.9475

We all know that math is an universal language, present in everything we know about life, (except matters of the heart and spiritual force) and i grew tired of watching this community not reaching a point of consensus about player feedback for the last 2 years, so instead of writing something that someone would just retort as usual, i decided to post something that is universally true, unless some new genius here wants to refute this thesis.

“In game theory, the Nash equilibrium is a solution concept of a non-cooperative game involving two or more players, in which each player is assumed to know the equilibrium strategies of the other players, and no player has anything to gain by changing only their own strategy. If each player has chosen a strategy and no player can benefit by changing strategies while the other players keep theirs unchanged, then the current set of strategy choices and the corresponding payoffs constitute a Nash equilibrium.”

The fact is that, every single person defends their own opinion and views regarding any subject in question, and most of the people are not interested in giving away any ground.

Why shouldn’t we care when someone says they are not happy with something in the game?

Why should we refuse to accept other player ideas just because we are happy with how things are working for us?

Why i, that usually like to play a given mmorpg for long periods of time, shouldn’t help to keep game populated by closely and carefully listen to players complaints and fight for an understanding?

Don’t you guys like to see the game you love playing, populated?

So, if we all love the same game, why shouldn’t we push together, as a group, and help ANet find a better path, a better solution?

I really think our mentality as individuals needs to change.
I really wish our mentality as individuals could evolve, but if we cant even listen to people in a game forum, how can we even expect to make things better in real life?

Gaming wise, and talking about GW2, the player community should really just join hands and focus on finding a middle ground for every request, complaint and wishes made by players in this forum everyday for the last 2 years, and press Anet to deliver it.

Anet should be making the game “we” want to play, inside the tech and game engine possibilities ofc, but if we cant reach a consensus inside the game community, how can ArenaNet understand what are we looking for?

Does any of this makes any sense to you?

It makes all the sense to me.

Are we board with this game or just MMOs

Many people that plays mmorpgs since the days of UO or DAOC, was smashed by the glory of old, from games like Guild Wars, Vanilla WoW, EQ2.

Im bored of GW2 and present mmorpgs. Yes it is true. Not because GW2 is a bad game, its quite the opposite, but every mmorpg ive played since the old epic fantasy games mentioned above, are just pale and stale.

One of my biggest issues with modern mmorpgs is that devs simply dont know how to deliver the “epic” feeling again.

Its all very casual, very “click to go there”. No sense of exploration, no sense of achievement other than a tab saying “achievements” where one can go see the points going up as we complete stuff…

…i never needed a tab before just to feel good about doing something. Just the fact of having to go to a specific point with a group of friends, battling our way in and completing the task, that was enough sense of achievement for me. Now we just have spawn points everywhere in the world map, lfg Qs and other “modern day” stuff…

It is just too easy to play in modern day mmorpgs….

So let me assimilate this: people rather have “star trek look alike beam me up scotty” spawn and teleport points, over mounts?

And this in a mmorpg fantasy game? Why have an open map to explore then?

Ill tell you what i would like to see: mounts and fewer spawn points.

After some reading, posting and debating in 2 known mmorpgs sites, i was so confused about my feelings towards this game and mmorpgs in general. I mean, theres only like 20 to 30% of people defending the same views i have.

So glad i came here after that. Not that i havent already read thousands of posts like this, about GW2 and other mmorpgs in general, but i dont know lol, guess i “see the light” :P

But now i know. Thank you to the OP for this post. I share your concerns.

Now i see that my gaming time in mmorpg genre is probably over. And its ok, been playing for too long. Maybe its time for mmorpgs to be made for this new crowd of younger less demanding players.

Me, im not a guy that can live with such low expectations, even when we are talking about something so shallow as a game.

I love playing games, but i love some meaning behind all of it.

GW2 is a solid game, i had alot of fun for about 5 months and its ok i suppose. Was worth the money spent.

GW2 has no end game content, lost the magic of its predecessor, and failed to hit many of the marks ANet set with their manifesto.
But has many great stuff happening and it probably is the perfect game for the casual player, now i see it.

Sadly, and if we could meld time, its not half the game GW1 was back in the days. Still i will miss it, and perhaps one day ANet sees the potential of this game to be more than just a runner up contender and aim higher.

Its funny, lol, never would thought a game i so overhyped in all known to humanity game forums, would turn out to be the game that pushed me to the corner…

I highly recommend, if you are a casual and mmorpg lover, to not seek other game for you. I have played …hundreds? i lost count. GW2 is most likely the best choice for you.

As for me, i guess ill keep downloading those games hoping to find what i seek.

I confess, ill be keeping an eye open for GW2, maybe something good will happen eh?

Good luck to you all and have fun.

So much negativism from all of you people. Come on. Any changes to this game are welcome. If it doesnt work, ANet will just find another way or roll it back.

I welcome the effort the team is puting on making things better for this game. We all know by now that GW2 still has a long way to go, and im here for the longrun. The fact is that if we werent seing any changes, any activity, any “shaking up the tree” by ANet, then and only then we would have reasons for concerns.

I say let ANet try new approaches, and with our help improve the game we all love. Keep posting your suggestions in the forum. Keep the feedback up.

I can tell you this much: im not a happy customer. I bought GW2 sincerely hoping it would be my only MMO for years to come. Im not happy with recent changes made to my class (mesmer), im not happy with current sPvP layout, im not happy with dungeons being left by the shadow, im not happy with many things, but i truly believe that the team working at ANet has the talent and skill to make things better.

Let them try, let them work, show them our support…

…if they fail we can release the hounds

I have a couple of serious questions.
1. Did the person that came up with the math for this graduate from high school.
2. To prove it, please upload a copy of your high school diploma.

How about just a copy of their resume. I don’t see his high school experience on there. Hopefully the other stuff can count as relevant experience for your assessment.

Haha That was so nicely done. Great resume btw

Nerf blurred frenzy?

Clerigo.9475

Let’s give all glass cannons a 25% uptime invul in their offensive trees. Mesmers have the strongest utility skills out of all the classes. No other class comes close(…)

I play a mesmer since beta, but i think i have been playing it the wrong way.

So, following your post, can you please enlighten me by presenting viable pvp builds using all the diferent utility skills?. I would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Im most curious about your insights in builds using mantras or signets. Will be waiting thank you.

Nerf blurred frenzy?

in PvP

Posted by: Clerigo.9475

Clerigo.9475

I believe this to be a joke of some sort.

Mesmer is already the class with the poorest utility skills list in terms of numbers. Mantras do not work and are a failed mechanic. With the recent nerf on quickness, mesmers are left with no real elite skill of impact, just a lame hide skill or a laughable “here comes the moa bird” skill.

Blurred freny is a good sword skill with decent damage output, but we still have to deal with a bugged leap ability and the fact that is a stationary skill. So leave as it is, just sort the bugs.

The fact that i have to deal in all mmos i have played with consistent crying about a given class is a direct result of the lack of hability of some players to find a way to counter a specific class, because those players want to carry a setup viable against all classes, play in pve and pvp with same build and just spam buttons.

This is why GW1 with the cross skill system is way ahead of any mmorpg in the market when it comes to pvp. Everyone can use almost all skills available for all classes, with direct relation to class atributes, so there are no crying babies.

State of the Game - Upcoming Mesmer Changes

in Mesmer

Clerigo.9475

soooo what condition does a mesmer have left then?none…ty anet! oh well be looking for a new class then or a new game.

See ya

The confusion nerf is a poor choice. It makes confusion (and glamour builds) pretty much completely useless in wvw now, since confusion does effectively no damage. That being said, mesmers are far from broken…removing 1 condition doesn’t destroy a class.

I really think you dont have a single clue of what you are saying.

1st: you dont make decisions that could afect alot of viable builds in a given class, when the game is up and running for 8 months now. What kind of decision is that? A “oh sorry we just woke up and decided to change some stuff” perspective for sure.

2nd: “removing 1 condition doesnt destroy a class” well, do you know that mesmer was built around confusion cond, and for the most trait lines ull see many aligned with that particular condition. So we are not talkig about nerfing only the “confusion” here. We are talking about delivering a nerf to many traits the mesmer has, not only the confusion damage, so you completely missed the point.

A class is only as good as the player who is behind the keyboard.

One of the best things is GW2 is the well balanced class setup it now has. Every class can excel on both pve and pvp, you just need to find the right setup and adjust it to your play style.

Are mesmers OP? No.
Do i excel playing my mesmer? Yes.
Have i stood my ground against 2 or more opponents and beat them all? Yes.
Have i lost 1v1 against every class in this game? Yes.

If you are a mesmer and when doing WvW you are not inside of the enemy zerg, you are doing it wrong. As other players already mentioned, there are many forms of playing a mesmer.

Glamour/shatter confusion build is one of them.
Support mantra build is another.
Mirror build another…

But if you want to have fun, let it be known to you that i can blink to a gorup of 10 ppl, cast havoc, and walk away while they try to figure out where i am. Can i kill some1 with full hp while doing it? No. Most of the times i do that i get killed? Yes. What am i doing then? Simple, preparing the kill train for my fellow mates

Tell me, think its fun?

[Guide] Overpowered PvP Phantasm Build

in Mesmer

Posted by: Clerigo.9475

Clerigo.9475

All I need to do is not apply al my condition in a burst, and watch when you send back and just walk away when you hang out in a Null Field, Osicat tried that, and while it will complicate the fight, and help a lot out on the condition removal, it won’t be an automatic win!

Well that seems logical, but if you find yourself fighting a mesmer that throws null field only to remove conditions, must not be a great mesmer for sure.

Any good mesmer throws null field when having the cd for illusionary leap. Cast null field on top of you, quick ilusion leap, swap, it pins you down, chaos armor for mesmer, removes conditions, removes your buffs and leaves you wondering what happened. (if theres not a little rock or a bit of grass on the way ofc..in that case nothing happens…fix it anet).

Every class in this game is more than capable of dishing out large amount of dps. Every class has some form of counter. I really think classes are well balanced. No class is better than the next one…only player skill. For that, i still am in awe how we dont have 1v1 arenas yet….

Virtual economy lacks felexibility

in Suggestions

Posted by: Clerigo.9475

Clerigo.9475

Out of the many aspects that can make a mmorpgs pace stall, virtual economy is by far one of the most overlooked by players. While most players look for pacification in terms of game design and mechanics (also very important ofc) there are few who look for game improvements in this area.

Virtual economy is, most likely, the bridge that separates the casual player from the hardcore player on a gear/equipment perspective, with a significant impact in game progression.
While a hardcore player has the time to devour the content of a game and achieve about every goal in a given game, the casual player relies on the virtual economy to slowly but steadly play the game and obtain, wether by crafting or buying from players/auction houses, some satisfaction and completion towards avatar progression.

Now, this is a problem for almost every mmorpg in the market, and for me was never going to be a problem for gw2 but, as most of you noticed, the phrase “GW2 takes everything you love about GW1” has fallen into a shabby bag, so i guess the dev team should start to focus on it.

Presently the costs of crafting most of the non-dropable items in the game are astronomic and, with this, crafting itself has become stale. Fun as it is and well designed, it has fallen into the same rotting zombie as in every other game i played, with exception of EvE online, but that game plays in another league.

Not talking about legendaries, lets grab an example: the exotic hamer “Mjolnir”, the hammer to be said the companion in battle of the warrior of thunder Thor. Well i must say that he should be glad his father was Zeus, because this really takes divine help to craft. As this is an exotic item, it does not fall into the rumoured promise of ANET to balance the legendaries stats with any other weapons that may or not be released in future expansions wielding stronfer stats. So if u want one prepare yourself, as it costs the following:

- 1 Eldritch Scroll
- 100 Mystic Coin
- 250 Charged Lodestone
- 1 Gift of Lightning ( 10g for the recipe )
– 250 Orichalcum Ingot
– 250 Bolt of Gossamer
– 100 Charged Lodestone
– 1 Gift of Ascalon ( 500 ascaloninan tears )

Almost every item in “mjolnir” recipe is obtained by jsut playing the game, but when it comes to the charged lodestones it would cost a player around 700g to buy them, roughly what you would pay for a percursor to a legendary weapon…well, you can always go farm them…but no!! Remember the manifesto!! Dont do that omg!

So this economy needs a serious revamp in order to make it true to the beloved Manifesto.

Here are some suggestions that i picked up from other games i played:

- Make every ingame item tradable. This will help economy by constantly providing influx of materials/tokens that are currently locked to souldbound or accountbound wich makes no sense in a “economy”. You can even throw in Karma and Skill points and Laurels;

- Open the Gemstore to crafting materials: in a small amount, players should be able to purchase crafting materials of all Tiers with gems. It is a delicate field i know, but it can help to decrease the population of bots and gold sellers, and help casual players;

- Make PvE and crafting dailies wich award players with mats/token from all different tiers: would help virtual money outflux, would populate a bit more PvE areas and would empower all players with a tool to get the materials they want.

- Revamp Meta events: probably the most well designed part of this amazing game, and barely see any people doing them. Revamp the award system on those. They are very very fun and you need to give players a decent excuse to play them. Spawn a reward chest with T5 and T6 mats in it and you will see.

- gtg. will finsih later.

There are some major concerns pointed out in this post. English grammar aside, ANET should really listen to what community has to say. There are many veteran players in the game, people that have played many other mmorpgs, and they know what can kill a game.

Phantasmal Berserker - WvW issue

in Mesmer

Posted by: Clerigo.9475

Clerigo.9475

How much damage? I mean it couldn’t have ever been to much.

The damage is not substantial of course when compared against siege weapons designed for that, but everything counts when trying to get a door down.

The main issue here is, when atacking a reinforced door they just stand there doing nothing. And when at normal doors they engage.

Hello,

after this new update i found this issue with the skill Phantasmal Berserker: this phantasm fails to do any damage against reinforced doors but does normal damage against regular doors. I have tested it with different traits setups.

Is this intended?

TY

Edit: i also noticed that the phantasmal berzerkers stay in the inner side of the door when engaging reinforced doors. Donkt know if it is relevant.

Mesmer Damage Nerf

in Mesmer

Posted by: Clerigo.9475

Clerigo.9475

Illusionary Berserker has not received a direct damage decrease. Instead, is seems that the damage reduction you (and I) are seeing is most likely associated this fix:
“Fixed a bug that caused many piercing, boomerang, and bouncing projectiles (those that hit more than 1 target) to continually increase in damage the more targets they hit.”
We are aware that this particular phantasm is now experiencing a significant drop in damage and are looking at getting it back to a more effective state.
Thanks for keeping the post civil and constructive!
-Karl

Not only the Berzerker Phantasm deals less damage, but also the main great sword atack also pulses for less damage.

On top of that, i had a boss encounter yesterday where seems to me that the berzerker damage was paralel to the great sword damage i was dealing, according to a given distance.

Using other words: if i was closer to the boss, thus dealing less damage with Spatial Surge, by berzerker would also deal less damage. Is this normal?

Also, since when is that particular phantasm a “bouncing projectile”? Is there a skill where i can pick it up and throw it in the air at some1? … Plz fix this.

Im runing low on patience with everything going on with this game….

Spatial surge is unchanged. The only issue is that the berzerker is not hitting with all swings on a single target.

OK, im not contesting the Berzerk issue. Only thing im saying, and i have tested this on many different targets, is that, sometimes, Spatial Surge deals considerable less damage ( this happening on same target) and if i go to melee range, thus dealing minimum GS dps, the Berzerk dps also scale down with this.

Lets see if i can explain. Sorry but english is not my native language.

- Hiting same target ( test numbers)

Test A: Spatial Surge at max distance: 500 – 1008 -1325 <→ Berzerk: 897 – 1758 – 2958

Now closing distance to the same (still alive) target to melee range and still with the same berzerk up:

Test B: Spatial Surge at melee range: 131 – 346 – 581 <→ Berzerk (the same one that is still up from Test A hiting the same mob) 347 – 856 – 1520

Quuestion: does the damage of the Berzerker scales up/down with Spatial Surge = Distance to target?

With everything going on of lately in beloved GW2, there are times of pale sadness while waiting for the future of this amazing game to be decided by a no less amazing team.

Still, the qualities of the game are still there, and sometimes i find myself looking at some beautiful scenarios and amazing little details that are found by the hundreds in this game.

But, now and then, this gets elevated to art.

While doing some FotMs dungeons i got a random group of good players but with a nice change of pace for me: they like to stop at every mob group and just look at everything that it is going on. I must say this: im am glad they gave me the chance to do that.
For the last 2 fracs i got Cliffside and Snowblind and i was…mesmerized. Beauty, pacing, entertaining, fun, perfect. Eveything about it, light, orientation, scale, was art.

I send a big thanks to ANet for giving me one of my best moments in gaming.

And my wish for this x-mas is: i wish everything in GW2 could be like that. Perfect.
