The GS still needs a bit of a boost to its auto that isn’t defense based to be picked over a sword.
Summoned creature AI is a different can of worms that we aren’t opening for the same reason. Pets that delay F2 use isn’t some wait script we put into their skills it has to do with core AI behavior shared by all pets and creatures and how they decide tasks. Rewriting that has the risks of breaking millions of unknown things so we have up until now band aided the solution. It is something that needs addressing but won’t be addressed until we can kitten how and when we will test it.
This is really disappointing, couldn’t the skill be faked and come from the ranger instead as long as the pet is checked to be alive? Atleast until its figured out.
Maybe sword chain 3 could get the evade from Serpent Strike and Serpent Strike becomes a Leap (the current animation would have to be changed). This way sword will have an on-demand leap forward and get the evade on auto attack (especially if you move the evade from greatsword to swoop).
I like this. The animation for sword 3 right now barely works, pretty sure everyone uses it as an evade as it only hits half of the time, if that.
I’m glad sword is intended to work like it does, I like it but alot of people don’t and their only other option is axe which, uh, isn’t that great. Sounds like main hand dagger may be in the future for them?
Evade on swoop would be great, just make it break immobilize as well and you can replace it with nothing on main attack chain :P Only problem there being GS evade on auto is good for zergs and large groups, since our pet dies instantly Bond is gone and it helps avoid conditions.
EDIT: as for power rangers/signet, they’re strung by the need for certain traits, (beast master signet, emphatic bond, the way too many traits for bows)

Some great changes there, warrior could use a Healing Signet nerf but scale it better with healing power or something. I play one in spvp, I love how ridiculous it is but it’s probably time for it to go.
Some interesting changes for Ranger, particularity mighty swap and enlargement. Going 30 into Beastmaster has some great traits now.
Honestly if anet really want to improve build diversity on the ranger, they gotta getsome condition removal that doesnt blow a 30cd heal or at least combine some traits specifically in the power line. We’re stuck with 30 in wilderness for EB, go check out the builds in the ranger forum.
The previous balance preview said minions would be buffed in WvW. I thought this was being addressed in the previous patch but it looks like it was left out. Did we ever find out what happened with this? You guys gotta know how long they last by now right? Even a bear on peaceful dies almost instantly.
This may be outside the scope of this patch but any consideration for Ranger pets now that ascended weapons, trinkets and Armour are on the scene?
Had a lot of fun tonight, thanks to Search and Seek (?) JQ guild. You guys should have atleast one guy with warbanner though, it’s great for ressing.
Kinda boring the last few hours. I’ve been chasing JQ GS+S/W warriors around the map and that’s kinda fun, I didn’t know there was a spider champion north west of the map.
Looking forward to this so I can switch to warrior.
Saw a ranger using this last week, it wasn’t very effective but the initial uh, confusion of confusion stacks on me was, confusing.
I think they just have so many players right now it looks like they’re grouped up. I’ve come across a few roamers but like others said if the fight lasts longer than 20 seconds 5-10 players will show up, that’s just gold league I guess nothing to get upset about.
Overflow situation has killed this event for most servers, some kind of solution to that would be better.
An FA guild guested to Maguuma and got him down to around 1-3% (Hard to tell with painterly Health Bar) Usually Maguuma has about 15-20 people doing it around prime time which the scaling doesn’t account for so they were a big help. Afterwards they went back to FA or more likely found an empty Overflow. Next Teq we got down to around 96% which I think is 1% better than usual so I guess they rubbed off a little.
So are people getting their monthly laurels post patch? Some of my guild mates didn’t and they didn’t complete it before the patch either. Is this related to the bug cause it aint mentioned in the notes.
A few of my guildies completed monthlies today and received no laurels, the laurel tooltip still says you get them from dailies and monthlies and nothing was mentioned in the patch.
Is this a new change or is related to the reset bug we’ve all had?
I use zerker in pve and settler in wvw so I’ll probably be lazy and get celestial if it exists.
Am I the only one who’s happy they are stepping away from RNG procs?
I think it’s great, but it all depends on how long the icd is and if it’s triggered per player.
I also hope frost spirits icd remains as it is, it’s really handy and if it’s changed to be like the others I doubt we’ll see many spirit builds for awhile at least for group play.

Ah, rangers outside of spvp have been dealing with this for over a year now it’s nice to know why pvp changes have been infecting pve and wvw with no stop in sight.

Uh oh, I was starting to like using frost spirit. I guess we can hope they keep spvp nerfs only in spvp but I doubt it after a year of pve nerfs.

Unrelated to spirit ranger balance those scores ain’t unusual if you’re just playing to score points and the opposing team is bad enough to feed kills off points (skirmish kills), luckily it seems they had one person capping for them.
I had a bunch of people message me about it after I posted about the third party website, ingame and on the forums. So I guess people are interested even though it’s account bound.
It would be kind of good to know if this will be available to everyone, in game or through gems. I sell alot of minis on the TP and I think the prices on some would drop if people can’t have full collections anymore.

When weapons are unsheathed coat covers the entire dagger, coat covers 80% of the warhorn.
Both weapons are held at the same angle, it doesn’t affect other off hand weapons. Some warhorns are completely covered some only partial, all daggers are completely covered as far as I tested.

People weren’t banned for farming cof p1, if there was an exploit with dead eye it would have been fixed days ago.
His teleport didn’t work before the last patch, if that’s what you’re thinking of but that’s been fixed.
The gauntlets do seem like they give a little too much gold compared to doing dungeons or something, I’ve made a lot of gold from doing that char guy and the sniper. Maybe make the silver reward in tier 3 like it is in tier 2.
To the people thinking it’s an exploit iirc the sniper was bugged or something (I’m told when he teleported he didn’t move) but they fixed it a few days ago. As long as you can use various fear, reflect and interrupt skills you can do a bunch of these fights with gambits on without dying, don’t need any cheats. I’m pretty sure if it was out of hand they could just disable it, remember that weird gun consumable that did a billion damage or whatever, that was gone in an hour.

Can you be automatically banned if enough people report you?
I was guesting in Dragonbrand (better pve commanders) cursed shore and apparently was mass reported for killing a cauldron (I wasn’t although had a day earlier as part of a guild event on maguuma server) I joked about trying to open the gates of arah to try to cool them down.
I was told this would mean I would be auto banned, but I had always assumed that actual humans checked each report. This is of concern as SFD guild has a weekly event where we cleanse orr (Thorrsday) and we’ve been to straights and malchors now we’re up to cursed shore and I don’t want to see anyone banned for completing the gates of arah quest.
I have some screenshots of map chat after our guild completed this today, I can’t post them due to the graphic descriptions of violence and coarse language displayed. The map chat in cursed shore is more corrupted than orr itself. Looking forward to a fix.
Our guild completed this event while other players told us they’d hunt us down and murder us in real life if we killed a cauldron. Something must be done.

For the subject seven fight I just plopped one down and auto attacked the main slime with sword slowly pushing it to the edge of the cage leaving a straight line of slimes behind me, quick win!
I used shortbow and sword/dagger (just to dodge and kill the orb things) GS is also good to move to a safe spot.

If you use short bow piercing arrows is a must for this fight.
I don’t often have issues with them in dungeons. I’d like to be able to stow them for a period then bring them out like a weapon switch or something if they continue down this aoe maze floor design seen in aether.
As for challenging content if they’re going to design fights like Liadra where my pet had about 5 seconds of offense before instantly dying (2 seconds of it was staring blankly doing nothing after switching it from the other pet that died at the start of the fight) they need some kind of allowance for rangers.
Sure I beat her but the pet played no part, If I wanted a no pet win I’d go warrior and use rifle/longbow.
I feel a bball axe skin would be excellent and would really synergize well with ranger attack skills and especially the necro spinning axe move
