Do you need the Tower for the MK title?

in Halloween Event

Cloudwalkernz.1328

This is not a threads about the tower. I just want to know if I need to complete the tower for the holiday title.

I enjoyed the tower but I suck at jumping games. I already spend 4 hours at it and I don’t really need the slipper so I am thinking of giving up.

Can someone please let me know if I need it?

I agree with the OP if the bag is only 10 slot, it should be a/c base.

Personally I would prefer it being 15 or better yet 20. Maybe A-net will allow it to be increase in size using the magic forge? 250 candy bar and a 20 slot rune perhaps?

I assume the OP never visited the WoW or SWTOR forums. A lot of posts in these sites can be described as toxic as best.

I don’t find too many negative posts here and the moderators do a good job keeping the forum under control.

There is a lot of people providing feedback and many are negatives. GW2 is a good game but many (including myself) feel it could do a lot better. People provide feedback because they care about the game. If they don’t care, most people would just move on.

Something I been missing after I ding level 80 is the the elite areas in GW1. Remember Sorrow’s Furnace and Ruins of the Tomb of the Primeval Kings in Prophecies? What about The Underworld and The Fissure of Woe where we used to spend days on end to farm Globs of Ectoplasm?

It would provide an alternative to Orr which is buggy and boring.

I also think these areas should be made PVP as well. It will cut down the number of bots and provide an alternative to WvW for casual PVP.

What do you think?

Lack of any real loot is a huge problem for this game!

Don`t worry , once you get to 80 and you buy whatever gear you need or get your cultural skins, you won`t need gold anymore except for repairs and ports.

I agree with the OP. I also agree with you. The problem is that the repair and teleport cost is so high that find myself unable to afford either.

An average reward of an EP for a lvl 80 is around1.8s (if you get a gold reward which is no hard). Average repair for just dying once is around 1.9s and average teleport (nearest) is around 1.65s. Which mean if you die just one you need to do 2 Eps to cover the cost. Cross area teleport is usually over 3s. This means you usually lose money if you teleport to a world events.

I find myself constantly grinding in lower level zone just to pay for exploring in Orr.

Time to balance PVE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Cloudwalkernz.1328

I think Anet is doing a good job in balancing PVP but I think it is time they give PVE a little attentions.

After 1 month + and the servers population begin to mature, I have notice some problems begin to shown with Dynamic Events and general spawn rate.

Most people would have a level 80 and would be either farming karma/gold/rare to build their legendary or starting a new alt. As a result, people would all gather in a few places or soloing around the world.

Here is some of the cracks begin to show with DE and spawn rate in many areas. The mobs are either far too strong for a solo player or far too weak for a large mob of players (30+).

I understand DE and spawn rate are supposed to scale to the number of players and in many cases it does an alright job. But the scaling is no where near enough for extremely large number of players (30 to 100+) causing people to race to score the first kill to get credit (effectively steal kill – something GW2 producers claimed it doesn’t exist in this game).

For beginner who just join this game or people who are working to level up a new alts, many areas are now empty or have few people around. The spawn rate and DE become a death trap for them. Most DE can’t be done with a single player and have one suddenly spawn around you means certain death unless you can run away quickly enough.

I know this game is still new and producers will need to balance it as it mature. But please give PVE some attentions. I am sick of people stealing my kills or running into impossible odds with my lowbie alts.

Huh? What are you talking about.

Don’t play much pvp or wvw are we?

When you finishing off some one you can add a fatality move like MK. Currently there is only the cow drop and it only last 30 mins when used. I am suggesting there should be more like it and it should last a lot longer so more people will use them.

Legendary weapons no longer an option for most players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Cloudwalkernz.1328

The word legendary means it is very very rare.

It took me nearly a year to get my legendary armour in GW1 and I actually never manage to finish my “God walk among mere mortal” title.

Well yes I don’t expect more than 10% of the player base will ever owning a legendary weapon. Or there will be no point in putting in the extra efforts to try and get one.

If there is more finishing move/ fatality, I won’t mind dying as often in WvW or pvp.

Also make them last 4 hrs not 30 mins like the cow one. This will encourage more people to use them where A-net can make more mony and make the game more fun.

Have it as a rare random drop or as a BL chest item won’t hurt either.

@NinjaKnight

I never assumed 0.1% response rate, I said -if- there is a 0.1% response rate. Furthermore you are assuming that there is a person behind every bot which again is probably not true, there are probably a handful of people controlling many hundreds of bots, that is the point of using bots.

Furthermore, the figures for wage in Wikipedia are almost definitely wrong (I have been to China several times, I go there every year to give a speech) and are probably based on the “average” wage which is always scewed by high earners. The type of people working in a job such as controlling an army of bots are unlikely to be at the top of the bell curve, they are more likely to be in the left outliers (those earning under the average wage).

As of today (after months researching the issue) I have yet to find any empirical or reliable evidence supporting these myths of chinese sweat shops with hundreds of people farming gold for MMOs or prisoners being forced to do it.

I know several high ranking staff in various chinese government departments as well as a huge number of chinese lawyers and law professors and I can honestly say that in the years I have been doing business there I have yet to hear of prisoners working in gold farming sweatshops and given my area of expertise is the impact of technology on human rights, I am pretty sure the subject would have come up…

I would love to see a documentary on the virtual goods/currency industry though, it would be fascinating.

I agree with you to say most gold bot farmers are Chinese is just racist. It is highly unlikely that in-game gold farming sweatshops exist in the real world but only in the mind of the gamers.

I say this for 2 reasons:
1) it is simply uneconomical to do so. With the PC gears, internet connections and the cost of the game. How much gold do you have to sell to gain a return? With that level of investment won’t you get a lot more return with legitimate activities using the internet?

2) It is more likely gold selling is link to organised crime as a mean to steal your identity and financial information. I can’t see how anyone could make a living selling in-game gold give the time and resources need to generate them. On the other hand, the credit information of the buyers are worth a lot more.

New Event DR

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cloudwalkernz.1328

Cloudwalkernz.1328

Learn what causes the DR and then stop banging your head in to a wall over and over again by repeating the same mistakes. People can farm karma for 3 hours straight and not hit DR once if you do it properly. But that requires:

- You go to different zones for karma after a time
- You COMPLETE entire events, not just tag and run
- You do a variety of different events in different areas of any single zone

If you don’t, you will run in to DR. Period. If you:

- Farm the same event back to back or very quickly in the same time period
- Tag and run events

You will hit DR.

Like you I hardly ever experience problems with DR. But people who use bots or AFK macros are going to complain as they can’t zone or complete an event easily.

Significantly increase the HP on mobs in DE with 30+ ppl raiding it

in Suggestions

Posted by: Cloudwalkernz.1328

Cloudwalkernz.1328

I understand DE is supposed to scale in accordance with the level and amount of people doing it.

However, in some DEs (particularly in Orr) the scaling is no where near enough for the people who are running it. It would not be uncommon to have over 30 to 100+ people running from one events to another in Orr with most mobs die under 1 second.

It becomes a competition for players to tag as many mobs as possible to get credit for the event.

GW2 advertises there is no steal kill. But this situation is just that. People rushing in to get the kill before someone else. This is worst than other mmos where events lock the mobs for that group that first hit it.

Because people need to be the first to get to the mobs. No body is rezzing or helping other people. I used to go out of my way to rez other players in need but after a few miss of credits I stop rezzing people or helping out those in trouble too. Is this the community Anet want to create?

I suggest significantly increasing the HP of mobs with large number of people raiding it. My suggestions for 10-20 people by 100%, 20-30 by 400%, 30-40 by 600%, 50-60 by 800%, 60-70 by 900%, 80-100 by 1000 to 1500%.

This may slow down the run by 10 seconds or so. I know the speed runners would hate this but it would give most normal players a chance to catch our breath and perhaps start helping one another again. This may even help to cut down the number of bots and help the game economy

Alternative legendary staff

Here is my suggestion. A legendary staff that change its effects based on the attunement of the user similar to the legendary hammer change its effects based on the user armour colour.

Example: red for fire, dark blue for water, light blue for wind, brown for earth, very dark green/black for Nec, purple for mes.

This way the staff is not as gender specific as the current one.

I need a hero

Cloudwalkernz.1328

I liked the heroes a lot in GW1, but I fear in the open world game we have now those streetwise herculei (or whatever the plural is) would cause tremendous lag. Even one companion would double the load you put on the system, let alone 5.

Most other mmos with open world like WoW, SWTOR, etc have companions and they don’t seem to have lagging issues.

This won’t be so bad if there is an easy to use group finder. Currently I can’t figure how it works and LFG spamming seem to be alot of wasted time and non-fun.

PS you can have up to 8 NPCs in your party in GW1. I would be happy to see just 1 in the party for PVE and may 4 for dungeons?

Gems to Gold Ratio

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Cloudwalkernz.1328

Cloudwalkernz.1328

Simple economic really. Increasing the gold supply that way would just cause hyper inflation. The pre-legendary would go for 1000s of gold instead of 100s of gold. No body will benefit from it. Also people who don’t buy gold now will be forced to just to compete.

Also 3rd party gold sellers are not safe. In fact, it is very risky. Not only do you risk being bane by Anet. The gold sellers will often sell your personnel and financial details. After all, they can make more money from your details than the in-game gold they sell you. So giving the risk involved, the 3rd party gold sellers will always be cheaper than the official source – again simple economic.

Where is all the heros in GW1? Didn’t the Sun Spears say you never fight alone?

But seriously I believe GW is the first to introduce NPCs to your party in MMO. Before WoW even. So I am surprise to see Heros/Companions didn’t make a come back. Plus the dialog and addition story line make they fun to have a round.

I am not saying you should have them all the time. But just for general PvE and dungeon would be good.

I understand GW2 make everyone in your map effectively in your party but sadly it doesn’t always work out. Particularity not everyone is doing the same things. Since I like to explore, For most of the time I am soloing. Even when there is other people around, they are usually followed by a large train of mobs. More often people would just run toward you while you are trying to clear a skill point, access the skill point themselves while you fighting off the mobs they bring and run away again without helping you.

Combine this with the fast spawn rate at high level area, I find myself fighting a never ending cycle of mobs trying to clear any skill or resource point.

Even a single companion/ hero would severely cut down the dead I am experiencing. Also I can’t alway find people to do story mode dungeons. Unlike in GW1, I can’t just get a few NPCs together and do a mission, I have to spend 30 mins + doing the LFG spams.

BTW how does the LFG system work? I select the LFG flag and nothing happen. How do I get the group finder to work? Most other mmos I played I can select the dungeon, area, etc.

Could we get a real definition for Magic Find?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cloudwalkernz.1328

Cloudwalkernz.1328

Would really love an answer to this. I been searching on the forum and other sites and it seems no one really know how it works. People just deck themselves up with magic find items because they are desperate for items.

It would be great if someone in the know could offer a few answers to the following questions:

1) Does Magic find increase the chance you get an items or does it increase the chance it being a rare item or it does both.

2) Does Magic find items and other magic find bonus ( eg guild or consumable) stack?

3) Does Magic find increase your base chance or does it multiply your base chance? EG if I wear a total of 101% magic find gear and (let say) I have 10% base chance something drop. Do I now have 111% chance or 20% chance of getting something.

Like many others I would really appreciate some explanations.

in Crafting

I think many share your frustration with crafting. I would like to point out crafting is NOT the best way to get gears.

You get gears from completing personal quests and map exploration as rewards. You also get gears from completing any dungeons for the first time. There is also random drops from monster you slayed.

If you still missing gear for your level, you can buy them from vendor across Tryia using coins or karma. Do a search on wiki or other sites and you will be able to find lists for them.

Finially you can also buy gears from The Trading Post (TP).

You will find it very difficult to keep up your crafting level with your character level if this is your first character in GW2. By the time you can build a level 15 gear you will most likely be level 20+.

Crafting is using good for leveling if you have a lot of gold or real money to burn.

How to spot a bot if you didn't already know

Lol A lot of people run in a group particularly in Orr where there is safety in numbers against random mobs that seems to appear from no where. I run naked all the time because I suxed at dieing – that make me a bot? or just a noob?

If you report everyone in a group then you will be reporting just about everyone.

I have a better system to spot cheaters than that:

1) If anyone kill me in PvP must be a cheater.
2) If anyone has more gold than me must be a gold farming bot.

Hope this helps

Please note that the official GW2 mouse come with programmable keys. So is that devices illegal as well :P

I can understand if I use programs to give me unfair advantages but using legitimate gaming devices and their in build macro should be allowed. I dislike the idea that I can be banned if my 5th mouse button execute tab 1 2 3 :P

I have no problem that the title required you to go into PvP areas. However, I could understand your frustrations.

The title is call “world explorer” right? But the Mist is technically a different world from Tyria. It is a place “amoung the gods” (quote from wiki) so it is another world in the GW2 universe. Since the title is for “world” not “worlds”, perhaps there should be different titles for different worlds? Example: Tyria explorer, Mist explorer, Cantha and Elona explorer (when Anet make them available).

I believe the above should fix the problem and make it fair for all people. I also believe someone can’t really be a true “world explorer” if they haven’t explore Cantha and Elona as well.

The only things that seems to make coins are the parts for legendary weapons. But that is mostly because the materials are rare and the amounts you will need to make them.

Most people craft for other reasons than making coins. Example: fast ways to level alts with coins, etc.
