You guys got it all wrong. The expansion will be limited to the literal expansion of each explorable area. While many speculate that aNet will increase the dimensions of each region, I believe they’ll actually scale down avatars and buildings.
According to the wiki, the GW2 servers are all named after locations in the game with three exceptions (although four exceptions are listed).
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World#Origin_of_names
I’m familiar with almost every name on that list but, there’s one I just can’t find any info on: Blackgate.
Where is Blackgate in GW1 or GW2?
I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one experiencing this…
1. Thief
2. Engineer
3. PVE dungeons (make it so players can do this solo) and open world
4. 7
5. 3
6. PVE endgame
7. Hamburger. I rate it hamburger. I know it’s an MMO and be social and whatever but I just want to run around and be alone after a long hard day at work.
I just opened over 50 of these black lion chests looking to get the tiger backpack cover. Of course I didn’t. So while I agree with everything OP said here, I’d also like to add in some grumblings over an apparently very low drop rate for a silly looking tiger backpack cover.
aNet: I’ll pay you money to never have to play BLC-Bingo again for this item.
To be honest, I’m not overly concerned about fighting the same people. We face Tarnished Coast a lot and they seem like a good bunch of people.
Being stuck in the same corner of EB for weeks on end – sorry but, I’m not transferring to a different server and I shouldn’t have to go through the whole guesting ordeal just to collect a poi for map completion.
- Hylek
That’s the only other playable race I’m interested in.
I agree, OP. I almost never see a drop from a champion and get a drop from a vet only about 40% of the time. I thought champions were supposed to drop something no matter what..
It seems that Blackgate is just about always in the lower right corner of EB and almost always has the left most borderland. We were in the top center base of EB a couple of weeks ago but, that was the only time I can recall Blackgate being in a different base on EB.
Aren’t servers supposed to rotate through borderlands and bases on EB? It seems to me that are positioning, in terms of maps, is so static that it would seem to defy the notion that there’s any mechanism in place to randomize it a bit.
Is anyone on any other servers noticing this? Am I wrong about there supposedly being some mechanism in place to randomize the bases each server is assigned during reset?
I still don’t understand why you (aNet) haven’t built dungeons to scale down to allow for a single player to do them. I just dont understand why dungeons were built requiring a 5 person team considering the last step in the storyline is a dungeon and everything else in the pve game is solo-able.
Please change dungeons so that we can solo them. Seriously….
When heading through a region (almost always cities) and sent to an overflow, we get greeted by a pop-up window that tells us this. We have to click “Okay” to shut that window. Likewise, when we’re offered to travel to our servers instance of that region, there’s another pop-up.
These windows are really annoying. Instead of pasting them in the center of the screen, can we please have them appear in the right column where all the other types of notifications appear?
I don’t think any of us need a pop-up window blocking our view telling us we’re in overflow when simply adding a tag in the right column of the display that says “overflow” would suffice.
Thanks
The whole ‘account bound’ and ‘soulbound’ thing is kind of out of hand in GW2. There are entirely too many things that are account or soul bound that have no reason to be – siege plans in WvW, gathering tools, these new mini’s – I’ll even push it to the point where I include dungeon tokens in that. There’s really no reason for it beyond armor and weapons IMO.
Maybe if they killed such binds on minis, thus making them sellable, that would resolve a lot of this RNG BS we see going on – well, perhaps half of it. It would certain take away a lot of players incentive for complaining about RNG but, we’d still have to deal with aNet’s overuse of RNG.
I think the Wintersday jumping puzzle was designed well, with multiple starting points to cut down on the mob of players (which made it impossible for me to do the Halloween jumping puzzle since I couldn’t see where i was jumping to through other players avatars).
I think the difficulty was perfect – not too hard, not too easy. I also like that the snowflakes disappear on a timer. Lots of people complaining about that, though, because their wonko PC’s can’t load the game in a reasonable amount of time. I’m afraid aNet will pay too much attention to that and the result will be even longer wait times between attempts.
Those wait times to get in to the puzzle are a problem. They’re entirely too long.
It’s a pretty easy achievement. I did it alone when Tixx was at The Grove by zoning in solo and dealing with the foes.
If anything, I felt the holiday content has been far too easy. I’m not really sure how to comment to your post without sounding demeaning but, none of the Wintersday content is hard.
If you’re really struggling with it, you might find more value in assessing the viability of your build.
I completed Tixx at Divinty yesterday and was watching some of the ppl I teamed up with go for this achievement (I had already completed it) while eating lunch. About the time I finished my sandwich, I noticed they seemed to be running in circles looking for the last things to break.
It turns out that they missed the rocks. Some of the big boulders on the west side of the map are breakable and can sometimes be missed when you use aoe.
Hey aNet – considering you’ve been relying on Twitter for the last few updates on this, do you think you could add a Twitter widget for the @GuildWars2 feed to the sidebar on these forums? Not all of us use Twitter and only learned that you were communicating with users in regards to this by reading about it in the map chat channel.
You know what? If I saw someone call out in map chat for help explaining that situation briefly, I would gladly help get that person there. The community inworld is a great one. Just remember, though, pay it forward.
Well a good friend of mine is playing with a cast on his left hand right now so do what he did – map jump and run to buttons on your mouse. Almost every decent mouse comes with three or more buttons these days. I’m using a $25 logitech mouse that has 6 including the clickable scroll wheel.
I got into the cauldron last night and spotted that. I was a little surprised when I wasnt prompted to open it…
None of this fills me with a terrible rage. That’s not surprising though, since I’m not prone to getting filled with terrible rage.
Honestly, I really expect to log in tomorrow morning before work and see the update then. They always released event updates in the middle of the night with GW1 so I just assumed it would be the same with GW2. After all, that schedule’s worked for them for many years now.
I’m hoping they have a wicked looking jack-o-lantern hat that we can get during this event. That would make me really happy.
I don’t remember offhand but, weren’t most events in GW1 pushed live at 11:59PM PST on the launch date specified? I remember logging in at 2:59am EST back then so I could see all the new decorations as soon as they were live.
