There is "probably" no expansion, its a myth

Cole Eyre.8471

Considering all the talk this community does about an expansion on this forum and elsewhere, I would think aNet would at least verify that they’re not actively working on an expansion (which doesnt seem to violate their “we dont talk about what we are working on” policy).

I wonder what would happen if the community were to just demand an answer by posting “aNet, are you working on an expansion?” over and over, and reply with that same line, indefinitely until they responded concisely about it, without posting any other point of discussion, forsaking all other communication.

Less Misandry in LS

Cole Eyre.8471

Huh… okay, well, I can’t say whether or not there’s misandry to any real degree in the writing or not because I don’t care. I will say this though:

1. The following characters are annoying and I’d appreciate it if they were killed off: Braham, Evon, Caithe, Kas, Jory, Logan, Anise, and Keeper Fleethunter (although I would be satisfied if Keeper Fleethunter was kept a bit further away from Tactician Deathstrider so that I wont always accidentally trigger Fleethunters dialog button while rushing to trade my karma for shards)

2. I would appreciate one male character, preferably human, who was really likeable. Ideally a bald guy in heavy CM armor who’s tough as nails. Misandry shmisandry, I’d just like to see a prominent male character who seems like the sort of guy who’d be in my offline group of pals.

Also, Rox rocks. LS needs more Rox.

What do you think PVP on PVE maps?

I prefer the idea of leaving pvp in the mists where it belongs. It might be cool to have a larger pvp map, like a pvp version of EOTM with no real sides.

It would be nice if LS updates were more substantial but, not pointlessly (running in a circle) so. An update every two weeks is nice but… Well, I guess I’d rather pay for more content. Maybe I’m just expansion hungry. But if we do get an expansion, I still want LS on top of that because I’m greedy. And if the expansion is good, I would really like to have several of them without having to wait 2 or 3 years between each one.

SPECULATION: How LS Season 2 will end

in Living World

Posted by: Cole Eyre.8471

Cole Eyre.8471

I see it being revealed that Caithe was tasked by a dying Pale Tree to get the egg or her ASAP, the Pale Tree dying, the egg absorbing the pale trees magic, then in the final episode, the egg hatching as Mordy fully awakens.

There’s going to be another Pale Tree out there though. It will either already be there or a seed from the pale tree will be planted somewhere. I see that happening.

Then I really think we’ll either see Mordy the topic of an expansion pack, and LS retaking as a secondary thing for the short term, or a LS3 with much more substantial chapters. I’m leaning towards expansion, though, because that only seems to make sense to me. And I think an expansion would introduce a lot of new features.

See, I remember the eggs in GW1. Plus I believe that glint would have given the Zephyrs the egg long before Eir met Glint, essentially invalidating any input Eir might have on the matter.

I think that Caithe needing the egg for the Pale Tree or to help Rytlock seems hokey. I would also sincerely hope aNet would rely on such a tied scheme as “that wasn’t Caithe”.

Also, having thought more about it, the voice of whoever gave the zephyrs the egg, I’m now convinced it was the same voice used by the bigger Zhaitan minions such as the mouth in the PS and the eye at the Source of Orr. But let’s put that aside for now…

Look at 4:30 in this video: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zNQNTgqeI2M

See that egg shaped object in that beam of golden light?

Caithe stole the egg to get it to the Pale Tree, not to help the Pale Tree, but to prepare the egg for use. The dragon in that egg needs to hatch, it needs to grow quickly through consuming magic, and the dragon needs to grow with an appreciation for intelligent life as Glint did. This dragon will be a replacement for Morty and/or Zhaitan. But, something else happens with it first.

Why does Caithe need to get it to the Pale Tree so fast? Because she must have been tasked with doing this. Remember, the Pale Tree told us she’s fading. She will die. There will be a replace…. Oh… What if the Pale Tree essentially dies and the dragon egg is used to absorb her magic, and that’s what hatches the egg and why Caithe needs to get it there so quickly?

That was… just over two years ago and like 8 or 9 map completions ago. I haven’t had another issue since, except when I miss that one vista in DR, and that one POI in Whispers or at Fort Trinity.

1. Your general impressions. Is the game playable?

2. Your CPU specs and video card

3. For those in the “know”, is it more like running through Wine on Linux or more like running it on Windows in terms of performance?

Thanks in advance. I’m buying a new Mac and trying to decide if I should just replace my iMac with a new one for general use or if I should spend the extra money on a higher spec’ed one to run this game on (and replace the only function my Windows PC serves).

It sounds like you’re missing a POI and a vista. You can mouse over each zone name when viewing the world map to check if there is anything missing. If that reveals nothing, then you’re likely missing a poi in an instance somewhere (usually Whispers base when people make this exact comment). The vista is likely in a zone that’s changed relatively recently (thinking LA) or in DR.

I felt the rewards from the SW chest farm were actually mostly junk, with the only things of any real value being some T6 mats and the occasional obs shard. I was getting those mats in line with about what I would do elsewhere by farming mats and flipping them for the T6 stuff. The thing is, this chest farm was fun. There were gobs and gobs of people gathered together collaborating.

I’ve been an aNet customer since 2005. I waited something like 6 long years waiting for this game. For a long time, I believed it was vaporware. When it finally came out and we saw the introduction of a whole new zone that November, I really felt that aNet was setting the stage for a product that would have a long development lifecycle steeped in a steady regular flow of new perm content, similar to what they did with GW1 for two years.

Instead, I find I’m investing my time in a product where features that are designed, tested, and released to production are modified/nerfed because players are using some mechanic of it in ways that weren’t intended.

Sorry but, I’m calling BS on that line of thinking. Given the frequency that this has happened with aNet, I cannot fathom this cycle being anything other than an intentional means of stoking this community. What I don’t understand is why aNet might do this.

Given the cyclical nature of these farm introductions and nerfs, these so-called “Bugs” and “glitches” (they’re not, we know they’re not, many of us here work in product/software design and management), then aNet should really assume responsibility for itself by fixing their procedural deficiencies.

In the days of GW1, aNet essentially crowd-sourced aspects of QA through a community engagement initiative called “Live Test Krewe”. If, by some stretch of the imagination, my cynicism is wrong and these cyclical farm intros/nerfs are not intentional, then aNet really needs to consider fixing their process by including a similar initiative from this product.

Gaile Gray

Is there, or is there not, an expansion being developed?

Maybe Gaile can’t answer that but, someone at aNet needs to. Because there’s an elephant in the room and someone needs to say something.

Every time I login, visit the forums, etc, people are talking about an expansion. I patiently sit there listening as friends, guildies, etc, expound on the critical importance of an expansion to their continued usage of this game. Seriously, the mood I’m seeing is entirely too reminiscent of the tapering out of GW1.

I seem to remember GW1 having a much better selection of female hair, too. I mean I guess corn-rows are fine but, GW1 had a decent variety of short female hair that looked good, as opposed to all the hair with bows and ribbons and whatever.

Anyway, I mention this because I used the shining blade costume body with no visible helm at all, instead using one of the short hairs with a thing in it as part of the hairdo, on one warrior. On my male ranger, well, crew cut is best cut and I sported it with the same shining blade costume without hood.

In GW1, costumes (which functioned just about the same way as outfits in GW2) were two pieces, with the head piece separate from the rest. I loved the way that was implemented. I think you could dye them, too.

I would be so happy if I could have my GW1 Shining Bade costume in GW2 and could dye it.

OP has a point in a lot of the default skins looking bland or, frankly, lame. But really, that’s all highly subjective as everyone is bound to have different opinions on that.

One thing I would love is more real-world looking armor skins, as opposed to three not-so-great looking verions of chainmail or scale armor. But then, I’ve got no interest in armor with flames, sparkles, glitter, skulls, kittens, or bats hanging on it.

It’s odd that GW1 had better armor skins than GW2.

Cole Eyre.8471

“Mr. E”‘s identity is an interesting topic… but I’m more interested in who “Your Herald” is – you know, the guy who sends you all the in-game mail as you move through PS and work on map completion.

I don’t think “Mr.E” is a member of Destiny’s Edge. I think that’s too easy. I think Mr. E will wind up being some toon who has an actual reason to obscure his/her identity when communicating with Biconics. It doesn’t make any sense to me that Logan, or any member of DE, would use an alias to communicate with allies of a friend (the player character) who they killed an elder dragon with.

I think Mr. E will wind up being some secondary character previous seen at some point during PS after you join an Order or will be some secondary character who appeared in LS1. Either that, or potentially a much older character who would prefer to just go unnoticed or forgotten.

I quite like the idea of “E” being Ogden but, that doesn’t make much sense based on what we know of Ogden in GW2.

Personally, my money is on “E” being either Ellen K. or Evon G. Given these two, I would say that Ellen K. being “E” is the more sensible of the two as Evon G is more a scoundrel. Plus, Ellen being “E” fills in the context of the “E” and seems to fit in with the players relationship with her – which is something that transcends just a professional relationship but, isn’t quite friendship.

Dear ArenaNet,

Please build a bounty thing where the “Destiny’s Edge” mentor for each playable race gives out a daily bounty. For example, human toons would go visit Logan in DR to get a bounty where he sends them out to kill something different each day. Maybe one day it’s a bunch of bandits, maybe another day it’s a bunch of centaurs.

I feel this would help our home city retain some relevance and would make the world seem a bit more living.

Love,
