I did it wearing nothing but boots…
for traction, obviously.
No, you just talk to the NPC in the Mad King’s Realm to go to the clocktower. The labyrinth is kind of like a mini dungeon, as you progress mini bosses spawn, eventually when you get to the very center a huge boss spawns.
sylvary ele
don’t know if the air boost worked during the puzzle
but if it did 10% speed boost
also are we only getting the slippers because i only got trick or threat bags on repeated runs
It didn’t, being in each attunement is treated like a buff. All buffs were removed within the puzzle, so you weren’t in air attunement and were not getting the speed boost.
Norn Elementalist
No speed boost
The fish have been spewing tar since the beginning of act 1, but the rest is new.
1. Will you or will you not be buying black lion trading company or random number generation materials again?
Yes I will be buying more, but not very much
2. Did you buy them in the past?
Nope
3. If you would not buy trading post material/gamble, would you support direct to buy weapon skins and what general price do you find acceptable from a business standpoint both as a customer and realizing that they must make money as a business?
Yeah, if there were actual combat effective items for sale instead of town clothes skins, I would have bought them. I don’t care about the price so long as it’s reasonable for what they are asking. If they want 20 dollars for a skin that looks like garbage that’s a no, but if they want 20 dollars for something that looks absolutely amazing, yes.
4. Do you believe that future events will also be handled with random number generation to make profit based on limited time item acquisition?
Yes, most likley
5. If you believe that the future events will be handled in the same manner, does this realization negatively effect your trust of Arena Net in regard to handling micro transactions for permanent content?
Not really
6. Did you obtain a skin or whatever it is you were looking to get from the black lion trading chests? From the Mad King Chests?
Yes, several in fact, and I didn’t even open that many chests
(edited by Conncept.7638)
Seriously though, nobody else hears it every 10 seconds?
And No, Rata Sum is a death trap. I fear that place. Ever since I went there for Map Completion, I refuse to go back.
Only REAL men shop where you can fall to your death at any moment :P
Umm… I’ll answer the ones I can
The crossing is only craftable, lvl 400 artificer, and you have to craft the recipe before you can craft the actual weapon. Crafting the recipe requires several hundred candy corn and nougats as well as other mats. The recipe will actually be craftable year-round, as will the weapon. The other mats are incredibly expensive/rare materials that you won’t likely be able to farm up in the next few days. But the candy corn and nougats will only be available during the event, so you have to get those before the event ends and you can worry about the rest later.
The chests are the only way to get the other non-craftable halloween items, but soon you will be able to craft Mad King chests from BL chest remains, which will give a second chance at obtaining them and other halloween items.

If you like it enough, do it. I did it on my Ele, Mesmer, and Necro because I think it looks cool. But I left my Engineer out because he already has a backpack and I think it fits better.
I think the dagger is a pretty cool concept, just wasn’t done all that well.
Talk to the NPC who mails it to you in the first place, she will give you a second.
Thanks for that. I’m not level 80. This would be something to build towards as I’m leveling.. Are candy corn and nougat centre the only halloween specific items in that list?
Yes, everything else is available for the entire year.
“I’ve already got what I wanted, six limited edition halloween item, and I only opened 21 chests. So I’m not saying this because I have the gimme-gimmes, but there really needs to be some guaranteed reward for supporting ANet by buying chests and keys. It doesn’t have to be these rare drop items, but there should be something within the chests as a consolation prize.”
Have you done the act 1 quest yet? The reward is a back piece, which is insanely easy to get at no cost… each act will have something similar… there’s your guaranteed reward…
I said, as you quoted, a guaranteed reward for those who support ANet buy ‘buying chests and keys’. Exactly how many keys does it take to get that backbrace? None.
For those who don’t speak Spanglish
Valor=Worth
This event was pretty cool, I unfortunately had a useless team… :P I got five kills right off the bat, unfortunately the supplies from every single one of those were stolen by my team-mates. So after those five kills, I had nothing left, killed one more guy by butting him to death with my rifle (he apparently also had no supplies, as he was doing the same to me), and then I died to the next person that came along with a loaded clip. My team soon followed after.
They have shoulders, and I would bet more armor pieces will open up with each act.

People forget, this is a game. As much as people try to portray video games as some kind of extreme or hardcore pursuit, this like all video games is more akin to little league than the MLB. In little league, everybody gets their juicebox at the end of the game, everybody gets a consolation trophy.

Haven’t had any friends in this game since the beginning, still fun anyway
I just used up a pack of ten, with a karma boost active I received 6750 from each. I’m level 65.
Afraid of grinding? I wish they were more afraid of grinding! Or have you failed to acquaint yourself with crafting yet?
(edited by Conncept.7638)
be rich in game, get lucky with opening chests, or buy so many keys ur bound to get one.
those are the best recipes atm.
I seriously think those “I’ve bought 100 chests and got nothing” guys are full of crap. I’ve received 6 halloween special items, and I’ve only opened 21 chests. You only really need to get one or two of the weapons, any of them will do, then sell them and use the gold to buy the one you want.
Yep, you’re right, didn’t get the book from the underwater one. How did I miss that? No, how did I miss it twice?
Not to irritate you more, but give them another round. See if one didn’t give you a book or maybe there’s one you accidently missed/broke off conversation with.
I’ve tried that but I’ll give her another go.
If I’m not mistaken, the 3rd ghost gives you the 4th book on accident. You’ve visited every one of the NPCs and have a total of 6 books?
I’ve visited every one and have a total of five. Missing book 3.
I can’t get the mad memories book. I have tried on two different characters, so I know I didn’t drop it or transmute it or anything. Some kind of error makes it so the third NPC thinks she has given me the book when she hasn’t. I really want this item, it’s pretty much the only thing available during this event to people who actually have lives and obligations outside the game that prevent them from farming for obscene amounts of gold and mats. MMO for casual gamers my kitten
I am posting in hopes that somebody has had this happen and has found a workaround. If so, please share.
EDIT: And I’ve already submitted a support ticket, but with the amount of bugs in this last patch the event will most likely end before I even get a response.
Umm… I’m having this same problem with the third book, except I didn’t do anything to mine, the NPC just never gave it to me and I can’t get her to no matter how many times I talk to her.
The dredgehaunt cliffs ‘door’ is to a new mini dungeon/jumping puzzle. It’s not related to the halloween event, but it’s still really fun and I got some nice stuff from the boss at the end.
I opened three and got a unique shield, and it looks awesome by the way.
My best streak is two in a row, and I’ve probably opened 30 or so since the game started, and received something useful from three… I might buy keys for the halloween event, but until the BL chests stop giving crap I won’t be buying any during non-events. And now that i know events work this way, I’ll be saving mine up instead of using them to get the useless junk that the chests give during normal play.
So I know the event should hit today…yay
Log in…yay
purchase $20 USD in gems. And use those for 15 keys
And I start opening looking for the weapon skins. NONE contained a single one. I find out from my guild its not implemented yet… Even the Market advertisement is showing the skins (in the gem store)
I’m not asking for a refund, or going to whine about how the system took advantage of me. But I know I’m not the only one who’s sore about this.
It’s things that this that are likely to make me think twice about buying gems in the future.
Well if you don’t ask for a refund you’re an idiot. ANets player support is understaffed and slow, but they do a good job taking care of the players, and since in this particular situation it is their fault you were given false notice they’ll likely help you out, but not if you don’t ask. Quit playing the victim and take action.
Whatever they add, I hope there is some actual armor skins mixed in, not much for town clothes myself.
If it's not ingame yet, can you please add it, even as a Gemshop LIGHT armor skin

I would really like this to be added as well, making a gothic-style female necromancer, and non of the corsets currently in the game really lend well to the gothic style.
Don’t all Ettin and Jotun count as giants?
This is the largely the result of an endless stream of currency, people will blame gold-sellers, but they are only a small part of the problem. The largest inflation in real life is caused by the government printing too much money. Money only has value so long as there is a limited supply. Especially since a lot of those are optional, fees of convenience.
GW2, like all MMOs, creates money out of thin air each time a quest is completed, a mob is killed, or an event is completed. Much like the US government has been doing for years over-printing US currency.
The more money you create, the less each individual unit of money is worth. The less money is worth the more merchants, traders, and businessmen want for their goods and services. The only way to break the cycle is to stop making money, the only way to reduce the inflation is to destroy currency.
You forgot one important thing.
When one buys anything from merchant, that money is completely gone.
When one repairs or uses a waypoint, that money is completely gone.
GW2 might be creating thousands of gold daily but it also deletes thousands of gold.
One people repairing is 10s, but 100k people repairing is 1mil silver = 10k gold gone completely.
Let alone AH fees.
I’m well aware of the money sinks programmed in to the game, but I don’t think they are enough, and I think Arenanet is figuring that out for themselves as we speak.
Yes, Ranger is pretty hard opponent, but key-smashing player really cannot beat a decent Elementalist player.
You couldn’t have said anything more false if you had tried.

It’s the weekend
Even if you do get a response, it won’t be until at least monday, I know I was just dealing with support yesterday.
Personally, I just want to see the downed state removed from WvW, it causes a lot more problems than just this one exploit, and really adds nothing to the gameplay in such a large-scale setting.
I think this would be a really really great addition to the game.

The last thing GW2 PvP could be called is boring. But I do agree that it isn’t perfect. The largest part of the problem I see is that traits tend to lean towards fine-tuning your slotted skills, barely any affect your weapon skills, and this in my opinion is a mistake. Traits should largely be dedicated towards cuztomizing your weapon skills.
Stopped leveling my Ele at level sixty-one and went to an alt, I’ll come back when the class is fixed, and I don’t just mean the bugs.
We’ve actually been working on something which does just this (and a lil’ more) over in the suggestions forum. Have a look, and feel free to contribute in any way you’d like.

No. lol
Stealth is already limited enough. If you want combo fields to detect it the entire class would have to be reworked to accommodate.
They are frail and will die without resetting. The burst needs to be toned everything else is fine.
Exactly, Thieves are balanced with stealth as their primary defense system.
Except that that defense system isn’t just a defense system, but the ability to get a high damage first strike whenever they open combat, and the ability to open combat without any potential counterplay from their opponent.
I’m fine with stealth, what I’m not fine with is being able to take 3/4s of my health the second they drop out of stealth without my being able to do anything about it.

Anybody who thinks that horses (and therefore centaur) have any type of difficulties with dodging/swimming/walking backwards/other acrobatics hasn’t seen many horses in action, they can power through agile movements that would surprise most people.
The only problem I see is with jumping puzzles, they are scaled to human size, norns already have problems with them and they are just tall, I can’t imagine how difficult a race would be that is both tall and lengthy.
1. No, you will not ever be able to abuse pathing exploits. This is a pathetic and tactless way to play.
2. No, there have to be gold sinks for the game economy to mimic a real world economy. This would be one of them.
3. No, the whole point of the scaling is so that you are challenged no matter where you go, if you do this, you might as well remove the scaling entirely as it will no longer serve that purpose.
4. Many events already have this, though I do agree that time restraints should be added to more events. And I think we would all prefer they fix the borked events instead of pulling a band-aid solution like a timed reset button.
5. This is just a matter of scaling, make it so they scale up more, no reasons to overly-complicate the system by adding another variable.
6. What is the point of having trait points then? If you can adjust them at will we might as well just have them all active all the time, it would lead to the same result. Yes, it should be easier to adjust them, and it should especially be less expensive.
7. Yes, emphatically yes.
8. The camera is meant to adjust to be in front of any obstacles, but this could be done a lot better. A lot of things you mentioned like trees, ledges, and oddly shaped objects never seem to let your camera work around them like they should.

You CAN use elevation as a tactic, a mob receives invulnerability when there is no pathing available for the mob to get within attacking range, or in other words when you are in a spot that makes you invulnerable to the mobs attacks it will become invulnerable to yours.
However, invulnerability is also given when you kite a mob too far away from it’s spawn point, this I think should be removed, if you’re actively targeting and attacking the mob, it shouldn’t reset, movement is just too important for that. However abusing pathing is an exploit and should never be allowed.

I don’t mind a little luck, I have more of a problem with the ‘epic quest’ (as they put it in the announcement) being mind-numbing mat farming and a few visits to the mystic forge. That is neither a quest nor epic in any way shape or form.

Can AreaNet please ban these posts when they pop up? Or tell the community what your stand on mounts is so they stop (hopefully) posting this garbage thinking there will ever be mounts. I think these posts are more from trolls than people with honest opinions….
Arenanet has never stated that mounts are out of the question, only that flying mounts are. If anyone here deserves to be banned, it is you, stop being a jerk to people just because they have a different opinion. I don’t care either way, but if I did I wouldn’t wish someone banned over it.

Umm… I’m pretty sure this outfit is available to players, not sure where, but I’ve seen it in the PvP locker so there has to be a PvE equivalent.
