JQ vs HoD vs SBI thread/updates/screenshots

Honestly, I wish HoD hadn’t crumbled. As a JQ player since launch, I’ve seen the sentiment numerous times that we were getting better so we could beat HoD, so we could beat TA— we were getting closer and closer each week, at least by the scores. HoD and their alliances were our final boss. And then, just as we were starting to get to where we could compete… poof. They collapsed, and now we’re left holding the trophy without having to work for it.

It’s an empty feeling.

Pramas is a living, breathing GW1 reference. …Well, not so much living and breathing. See here.

So I’m thinking he’s 100% unrelated to all this.

Why Charr Have the Best Story *1-30 Spoilers*

I’ll just echo what’s been said here: The biggest issues here are not the characters themselves. The biggest issue is continuity between storylines, and the second biggest issue is presentation.

For the human story, for instance

—the biggest, most GLARING flaw is with the “Dead Sister” storyline, where your sister gets one conversation and then disappears entirely until you see her in Orr… for one mission, and she’s not even pointed out. I only barely recognized her by the name ‘Deborah’, her introduction and subsequent removal had that little of an impact on me. While I realize after reviewing all her conversation options that she rejoined the Seraph, that means very little to me as a player.

I would’ve much preferred if we had say, a storyline to get her reintroduced to society after being a captive for so long, or if she’d come along with us for the entire journey to 80! She’s our sister, we thought she was DEAD and we just RESCUED HER, this is a big, life-changing event for our character that’s just… ignored in favor of the order storylines.

When I found Deborah, I thought that it would be a meaningful thing for my story, and instead it ends up as a joke because of how it’s (say it with me) presented, and because of the (again) lack of continuity behind it. I also disliked how you start to go after Caudecus and then he just drops off the face of the earth until you do CM, that really needs some form of in-story closure or leadup.

Suggestions for a profession to best fit this group?

Guardian would be the way to go there. For one they lack a Heavy class, so they’ll otherwise be salvaging/selling any Heavy armor they get.

For two, they all have a lot of OFFENSIVE power, and will most likely be using their offensive abilities more than their defensive ones, especially to start; the Guardian in particular excels in defensive and supporting abilities, with shouts that give things like AOE Protection, Regen, Retaliation, Aegis, Swiftness, and Stability, and with proper usage you can use these abilities (among others) to pull your party out of all but the worst scrapes.

Can we talk about invisible players in WvWvW?

An easy fix would be to show a simple model without any of the detailed features while the model loads. It could even be a simple humanoid mist shape in the colour of the enemy team – this is the mists after all! This should be visible at any distance up to the max draw distance.

Seriously. Send me up against a 2d stick-figure army if you have to! I don’t care if it’s Paper Tyria, just get rid of the invisible zergs!

Its either hold down shift or alt (always forget which one) — and move the stack, it will prompt you to split it. (IF the item can be split).

The Ranger says “HellooOoooOOOOOoooo!”

Most highly-effective ranger builds involve melee, and the Longbow is generally considered a subpar weapon overall. Your other options are the Shortbow, which is best when used for flanking, or axes, which are “kind-of” ranged.

Exotics?

in Players Helping Players

Critwrench.8432

Just a quick question here.

Is it actually possible to get exotics from loot? Such as mobs in 80 areas or dungeons/chests?

They’re extremely rare as just straight drops, but I believe they are obtainable that way. They are more commonly found in reward chests for bosses, the prime among these being the Claw of Jormag in Frostgorge Sound.

Warrior.
Elementalist.
Necromancer (Kind of, depends on how far you consider ‘ranged’)
Mesmer.
Engineer’s weapons are all ranged, they have no melee. (Some of their skills are close-range though, and they have kits)

I wish this was the case for heritage armor.

With heritage gear you can at least STACK the heritage-skinning item (up to 250 I believe). For a while I kept a set of heritage stacks around on my guardian until I got gear I liked more.

  1. Linking your accounts gets you 3.
  2. Dedicating a hero statue (Having all three campaigns+EOTN nets you M.O.X. outside any major city (Kamadan, Lion’s Arch, Kaineng Center), who can be dedicated right away) nets you 1.
  3. Having ANY mini (Make sure to get one that’s not dedicated and you can get one for about a plat) will get you another point.
  4. That’s 5 right there. If you get a pet to level 20, you can dedicate that for another point.

There’s 6, with no campaigns finished and a minimum of in-game money required.

If you can’t/don’t want to use M.O.X., get Nightfall as your campaign-besides-EOTN and get to the point in the story that you can go to Dajkah Inlet. Then either grind that mission for sunspear armor remnants, or buy some. Outfit one of your Nightfall heroes with it (Koss, Dunkoro, etc), and then you can dedicate them.

M.O.X. is less work IMO.

They’re that dungeon’s Token, I believe. You can exchange them for armor pieces and weapons (among a couple other things) at the trader near the WvW portals in Lion’s Arch.
