one with air is odd. If it worked and started with 5% and zephyers speed gives 10% and only the highest applies…. then the first two levels of one with air have no effect.
so…. why are they there?
that seems a bit pointless
lightning field gives a stun on leap attacks.
ele has at least 3 leaps.
10% is not easy to tell but 30 and 40% are pretty easy to see.
Some of them say specifically “your spells” i havent tried those with any environmental weapons but conjures are basically environmental weapons.
water trait 4 + passive water trait 25 + aura’s + air triat 1 gets 30+% by themselves and are easy combos.
Ill try it if i get a chance. I suspect that elementals are not effected but it would be good to know if they are or not.
yeah 10% health is likely under 1.5k HP which most classes can blow past in one hit against a lightly armored ele.
I guess when using this skill you are going to want to maximize HP’s and toughness…
It might be more useful if it only turned on when taking 10% or more of my health in one hit. or both.
Just did some comparing at a Medium Armor – Target Golem. Comparing the greater elemental’s auto attacks averages to the lesser ones:
Fire: 900/720
Air: 379/287
Water: 890/700
Earth: 490/330On average, this means that the greater elementals’ auto attacks deal 25-30% more damage than their lesser counterparts. Also, I noted the following:
Air Elementals attack rapidly for less damage per attack.
Fire Elementals (both greater and lesser) grant area of effect might on their special attack.
The greater Fire Elemental’s ‘super attack’ can deal more than 2000 damage (on the medium target golem).
The greater Air Elemental’s stun attack is single target and deals no damage.
The greater Earth Elemental has an aoe ‘stomp’ that grants aoe protection.
The greater Ice Elemental has healing and freezing combo fields.
All elementals seemed to have a more or less similar attack speed, but the air elemental launches a burst of attacks (4 or 5 times at once) where the others just attack once.Hope this helps the discussion forward.
EDIT: I do not know wheter the greater earth elemental’s stomp counts as a blast finisher.

for example +10% while attuned to fire.

im no expert but i have been using conjures in my builds as much as possible.
There are really important factors to note about conjures.
1. traits effect them. 10% damage while attuned to fire makes the weapon do 10% extra damage while attuned to fire. Its just that its not obvious. When i realized this some of the trait combos start making more sense.
use waters +20% against vulnerable foes and take air trait 25 to cause vulnerability on crits. thats a decent conjure combo.
2. they can be cast and used from mist form. (least they used to be. been playing the Halloween games…)
3. fiery great sword can fire and hit when not facing the target. so you can run away an attack.
hits way more than it did before it was changed.
but if used in the combination with
rtl/updraft/burninspeed/firegrab
it hits pretty much everytime.
Used to be that i would do that above combination and it would miss…
now it rarely misses doing the above.
getting to land outside of the above is not terribly easy which is an L2P issue.
One thing about AE’s and such is that blindness makes them miss…. I mean how to do you miss with an AE but its better than actually being blind i guess.

all it means is that it lost connection to the game servers.
at that time you likely would be unable to get to the forums either.
If it matters between the systems it might be driver related.
you might want to speed check your network connection. it could be that its dirty and getting some packet loss.
you might get some idea of whats happening by doing an internet speed check on both systems to see if there is much difference. generally the wired connection will beat the wireless.
but that is just grasping at straws. technically there should be no difference between a desktop and a laptop outside of the hardware and the network connection type.
different network cards and wired vs wireless connection.
plug your laptop into the wired network and disable its wireless.
GW2 servers should not care what you are connecting with.
The information you are providing is so limited that its difficult to give a good answer but i think those are nvidia driver number and updating is painless so give it a whirl.
I doubt it will help your issue what it is was.
you should consider changing your email address used as well.
then you will not even know they were trying.
you need to look at the video card settings out of game.
the graphics driver is set to high performance.

it may be that it works in different areas of the game. I have heard rumors that wvw/pvp/pve behave differently in regards to bugs.

just for the sake of exploration….
maybe it could work such that when i locked a trait it could not switch back to it for a longer duration. a burnout option.
that might be an interesting elite. 10-30 secs of +100% damage/effectiveness when i hit the elite for whatever attunment i am in but then after that i get bumped to next atunment and can not switch back to the burned out one for 180 seconds.

corporate decisions often look like crud especially when its my bug they are returning as “wont fix.” i dont work a anet but i have sat in bug meetings in other companies.
It may be worth noting that to use this trait maximizing vitality would seem to make the most sense so that 10% margin is high.
with 10k hp a 2k hit will blow right by that 10%.

the 25 air trait can be used with the 20% damage while in water and target is vulnerable trait, water 4 “piercing shards”, with a conjure to some effectiveness.
Vulnerability by itself is not impressive.
air trait 8 “inscription” i find to be very likable. combined with the harmony healing glyph it has utility and combat function by doubling all the glyphs abilities.
20 sec of swiftness on a single button press.
I have also used it with the runes of the centaur for a 30sec perpetual run buff.
but i like the earth runes better.
There are plenty of other ways to get perpetual run buff but the single button is a refreshing lack of complexity for the ele.

those videos are useful… i see that if i use the burning retreat move away and out of the fire ring i can use the ring as an obstacle to keep people at ax range in prepation for another burning speed/RTL.
I did some stuff with the FGS too and i think the real power of that device is running away as it can shoot at stuff behind me with the autoattack.
here is a mists video of how i like to use the lava axe… im just not that good at the ele in general…
it did that before when combining it just right with mistform.
so did churning earth.
for pvp i like air trait 8 and glyphs in general.
the elite glyph is broken in respect to air trait 8.
some people like playing the ele in pvp just like they do in spvp

i would agree that the common usage of the ele does not fit well with the use of the elites in general. I also think that the elemental is generally the best elite except that its broken in respect to air trait 8.
Mainly its the best because i dont have to think about how to use it. the fiery great sword i believe is just like the ele.
its hard to learn to use.
fiery great sword is also fairly exciting used with runes of lyssa for 5 secs of all buffs.
far as i know… one with air is broken. no effect at all.
consider using the auras, air:1. its a nice shout runbuff.
i believe i have been able to apply burn conditions to the trebs in spvp.
its doesnt show as a condition though.
try a nostromo
if you can afford to. i dont think you can play an ele by clicking skills. its way too complicated.
maybe.. i dont know.
the gw2 buttons fit nicely onto the nostromo.
good luck. i have just clumsey fingers sometimes and it helps not to dance on the keyboard.
Also keep in mind that the ele is complicated. it takes a while to learn how to use it.
try practicing on the NPC’s in the mist near the water training grounds.

I have found no way to use them in PvP simply because I’m D/D and to survive I absolutely need to have all my defensive and healing abilities on tap 100% of the time.
I use them in both.
Primarily i used them in PvP. keep in mind that I am forcing myself to use them to understand them
I use lava axe mostly.
i use a standard d/d opening move sequence.
mist form/lava axe/earth armor for utility.
open with air->fire->earth->water->lave axe.
lava axe is like a second fire attunment that i can use and get bonuses from any other attunment. It also has a 900 range. so instead of taking arcane blast or wave or whatever i take the axe.
with the axe i do a ring of fire and a leap for a fire aura. +20 crit +4% damage with water 25.
the axe goes away pretty fast so it fits in well with my rotation. I rarely have to ditch it as each auto attack on a crit is ~1400 damage.
Fiery great sword though has a two fold problem
1 FGS has a skill curve higher than learning to press a few buttons.
2. its on 3 minute timer so if i blow it then its waiting a long time to be useful again thus making it more difficult to learn to use.
Those are pretty big issues as an ele dies so fast that making some mistakes is costly and further steepens the learning curve. I think that the FGS is not used like the hammer or the axe. that it needs a different spec. im guessing something more fire attuned. but again i think its recycle is too long.
I would like to have all the conjures as an elite option with a 60 second CD but that would be a fairly powerful effect.
OK all that said… I am only rank 17 and die a lot anyway…

I generally use the shaman jewel but the build utility does not have it or show its bonus…
1 hing to note about fiery great sword is that the autoattack appears to be able to fire behind me.
another note is that conjures can be summoned and used from mistform.

its true… often enough i find im in combat and its like no one can see me… or feel my damage.

I did not have the wherewithal to post this earlier.
disable it and try with elemental power.
I imagine they are the same thing save that the glyph doesnt need a critical.
it may be my imagination but it seems to me that i do a lot better with my ele when i have room to maneuver and use terrain.
I will say that the L2P of the ele is an issue in itself.
my experience is that the class has an invisible skill curve. Meaning i can not tell that i am getting better until i am better.
There is so much to master in the ele. Its easy to to see it as impossible and correct to say that all that work gets me about the same ability as any other class played well.
vapor form in pve previously was really powerful.
now its still useful just not as powerful.
still feels a little clunky.

when i was running scepter dagger in my more noob than now days i would just concentrate on providing might to my team in combat.
at one point we had 20 stacks of might which got some attention from the team. PUG…

I put forward this idea as I hate autoattack in games. I find it boring which is why I like elementalist. Just my personal opinions but I find complex combination attacks are alot more fun to plan out and practice than standing and spamming one basic attack
oh im not saying that a person would just use the lightning hammer auto attack. im just saying that is what the auto attack can do near as much as the longer CD skills do.
sorry i like solutions… weapon conjures are one of my pet concepts at the moment. move along… move along.
