I like ticking ppl off! It’s fun.
I agree with astral. The cost of these items, like permanent contracts and mystic forge conduit, are very high. The golem banker alone is 500 gems. The $10 monthly fee you speak of may actually decrease the demand of black lion chests. Since many bank, trading, merchant contracts & boosters, come from these chests. People might spend less on them, potentially loosing Anet sales, because thier contents are less valued now.
If it was as simple as pay $15 a month and get a bonus 20% gems or something i could support it. But as others have mentioned, putting a discount on gems accomplishes the same thing, without breaking the no sucription promise. Anet already gives bonuses on occasions for spending cash, like Mr Sparkles. They also rotate items that are on sale, so if you want more for your money, just wait for it to go on sale.
The ideas mentioned by original poster are too over the top, i couldn’t support them. Especially the unlimited black lion chests, they are like 4c each.
I think If you want more then you should spend more.
I don’t spend many hours ingame but I can tell I’ll never catch up with the inflation at this rate.
Well if you you do not play enough to buy one with gold, there has never been a better time to buy a precurser with cash, they are cheaper then ever.
I get tons of t6’s now-a-days. They used to actually be rare, before champ bags were introduced. They are definetly more plentiful, also i’m sure the laurel exchange has helped create a reliable way of obtaining them. Prices has gone up on all high demand items, not just t6’s, so i wouldn’t say they are not worth buying if you need them. Considering how much gold exchange has raised, the t6’s increase in price is just a side effect of it, because people get more gold with real money.

Like others have mentioned gw2 forum’s search is poor, and google is often the best method to search these forums. Old threads do pop-up in google searches, anyone can click it and respond to the thread without seeing the sticky. It seems to me, if Anet wants nercoposting to stop maybe they should lock threads after 30 days. It seems harsh to ban/suspend accounts for necroposting.
I don’t even have the option to spend outrageous amounts of gold on the recipes because there isn’t a single one available on the TP (Keeper’s Tassets)
I bought a bunch of these during the event, but when they rereleased them after the event ended it ticked me off and i tried to get out of a bad investment, so i sold alot of them at a loss, but i just threw some that dropped too much in price into in storage, and forgot about them. I’ll have to check which ones i have, maybe i can sell you one for a outrageous amount.
How about if they have more than one of these bosses scheduled for the same time. Even 2 at a time would help to split up the zerg.
That would be awesome also.
I’ve heard other players mention similar concerns. Idk much about how much server space and how much programming it would take, but maybe a possible solution is to have an option at login screen to uncheck the megaserver. I’m thinking currently the map limit is like 500 players, so maybe unchecking the megaserver box could place players into a miniserver, with a max of like 50-100 players. Miniservers could have the same boss scheduals and cross server capabilities.
Just because they are not responding to every thread, doesn’t mean they didn’t read it. I’m actually amazed at how much effort they put into reading everyones feedback and taking them into consideration. They can’t make everyone happy. They must have thought it was in the best interest of the game.
People feel passionately about thier game, and that’s a good thing. Criticizing is good, and it helps to find faults, but only when it’s constructive. If you feel something is wrong please provide a solution to help improve the game. I feel that no one should judge you for giving your opinion.
If are going on a QQ rant, making accusations and assumptions without any facts, then just keep your mouth shut.
It’s pretty simple. If you’re unsure there is a sticky:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/How-to-Give-Good-Feedback
If this happens, i’ll no longer support gw2. P2W is not what i signed up for. Smooth Penguin there is a billion P2W games, if thats how you want your game to be, then you have many options. You can even play Chinese gw2, i think it’s what you’re looking for.
A legendary can’t be a “long term goal”, because the longer you wait, the more expensive it gets.
Here’s the price of a Dusk over the months.
Jan 2013 – 539g
Jul 2013 – 679g
Jan 2014 – 899g
Jul 2014 – 1358gIf you want a legendary, you better buy it now, because in 6 months the price will double.
Well we all know the gem/gold ratio is rising, and gold’s value is diminishing because there is more constantly being farmed.
Jan 2013 -1.8gold/100gems
Jul 2013 – 3gold/100gems
Jan 2014 – 7.5gold/100gems
Jul 2014 – 12gold/100gems
This means precursers are actually getting cheaper to buy with real money. Gold is so easy to earn anymore, and prices go higher to reflect the changes they made, earlier in the game gold wasn’t as easy to come by.
Legendaries have gotten significantly more difficult. People who got them last year only had to do about 1/20th of the work that has to be done now. Prices are up ten fold but gold generation and overall drops in game have been cut in half in even the best of circumstances. Not saying if that’s a good or bad thing, but the legendaries are as hard as they are right now because they should feel legendary doesn’t hold much weight for me, considering the majority of legendaries floating around were quite easily made compared to what people venturing out to get them now are faced with.
1/20th of the work, lol. You’re making all these accusations without any facts. You must not of been here a year ago if you think gold was easier to get.
(edited by Curse Drew.8679)
So I returned to the game a couple months ago. I stopped after I became extremely frustrated trying to farm for legendary weapon mats (lodestones and T6 mats).
T6 Mats: ArenaNet has consistently removed all farming locations of T6 mats. The only way to efficiently gather these is by buying them from the Trading Post. Some of these mats are at around 60silver each. On average these T6 mats are around 40silver. So 40 × 250 * 8 (types for gift of might/magic) is 800 gold.
WvW: We are forced to do WvW for 100% Map Completion and 500 Badges of Honor. Not everyone is into PvP. Especially those on consistent losing servers.
Precursors: Are effectively the most ridiculous portion of any MMORPG game I have ever seen. When I left the game I was going for Meteorlogicus which requires the precursor of Storm. This was around 100g when I left the game for a break. When I returned it is now up to 600+ gold. The prices of all precursors is soaring out of control.
Gold: The only way to get a legendary is to have gold… and lots of it.
1) We used to be able to farm Orr for a while to get drops (but no… let’s slap the community with DR)
2) So I found some good farming spots for some T6 mats (nope! Let’s nerf that area because we want T6 mats to go up in price) …
3) Fine… I’ll do dungeon runs over and over for farming… (Don’t think so… let’s remove that aspect from the game as well… once a day only)So now the ways left to receive a decent amount of gold…
1) Use real money to purchase gems and convert it to gold.
2) Play the trading post. Buy cheap and sale high. Which is extremely unappealing to me. I want to play a GAME not a market!T6 Mats = 800 Gold
Precursor = Venom 110 Gold or Dusk 1100 Gold
Mystic Clovers = 50 – 100 Gold
Icy Runestones & Recipes = 120 Gold
Lodestones = 75 Silver – 2.5 Gold (100 = 75g – 250g)Total Gold – 1,500 – 3,000 depending on luck
I have played an average of 2-3 hours a day for the last 2 months and earned about 150 gold. That is 20 months of playing for the cheapest version of a precursor (Kraitkin).
I cannot earn enough money per day to “buy” the stuff… and the price of everything keeps going up. Come on ArenaNet have mercy on the poor players in the community!!
So you cant afford a legendary, and you want Anet change the game so you can what you can’t afford? Things are going up in price because gold/gem ratio is rising, and people have more gold to buy things. If you want prices to go down, why dont you ask for more gold sinks?
I am saying i see no evidence that the TP should be the best method of obtaining value in the game.
Maybe you should first bring evidence that the TP is the best method of obtaining value in the game.
Actually, working a real job and buying gems with cash is really the best method of obtaining value in game. Even the crazy greatsword video on youtube, which is using 8 accounts and software that’s possibly bannable, can be outearned by a $10 an hour job. If you dont want to work for the black lion trading post, then you can always earn even more then those guys by supporting the devlopers.
nothing you said shows that it would be a good idea for TP fllipping to continue to be the best means of gaining value in game
Ah yes, the 15% trading post fee is the gold sink that’s removing gold from the game. The more flipping the more times all this gold keeps getting taxed that 15%. The more gold sinks there are to remove gold from a game, the better value gold will have. Players will have trouble saving up gold, and need more of it, increasing it’s demand. If gold sinks are not in the game gold would never disappear, and prices would be crazy high, and new players would be introduced to a way worse economy.
(edited by Curse Drew.8679)
We all play the same game. Everyone has the same oppritunity to flip items on the trading post. If overdone it can be boring time & consuming work, but sometimes you can hit the jackpot if an update change happens in your favor. Sometimes the opposite happens and you loose gold. No one is denying that the trading post has better profits then ingame playing, but regaurdless flippers are helping remove gold from the economy.
Using the gold to gem ratio for the value of gold for ingame items, things haven’t changed much since the start. Take the super weapons, jetpack, mystic forge conduits, really anything that’s old and no longer drops. All have gone up in price about 3-4 times thier initial value was established after the living story ended. The Gold ratio back then was around a year ago was 3gold/100gems and now its 12gold/100gems. While some may be better ratios then others, they’re all pretty similar, some are bigger ratios because of higher demand/less supply. People see these items going up and think flippers are ruining the economy, but it’s just the value of gold is changing. How many threads of accusations that precursers are raising in price due to manipulation have we seen? As time goes on more and more gold is constantly being produced from dungeons and every type of gameplay, exept the trading post which a gold sink. I’m sure most of the players from over a year ago are going to agree that gold was 4 times harder to earn a year ago, then it is now.
I think many players are lying about how much they making also, trying to make other jealous, or trying to convince people the trading post is evil. Or maybe they are just saying the most they’ve ever made in a day, and the jealous people are blowing it out of proportion. Whatever the case, it is time consuming, probably boring to most, risky, they are helping improve golds worth, and you have the same oppritunity to do exactly what they are doing.

I notice sometimes after building a ram, i cant move afterwords for like 10-20 seconds. Most times i don’t experiance it. It’s happened a few times when an enemy zerg is attacking, and thats not good.
They also rereleased the helm of the dragon, which was availible from a trader this time. So i doubt the dragon festival will happen this year
None of this seems odd to anyone that there seems to be a pretty obvious divide?
I think it’s because some people are refering to MF dropped exotics from mobs, and others giving thier total found exotics including chests.
Well the type of flipping your doing is boring tedious work. Ya sure you can make a profit better then playing, but look at what your spending your time doing, same thing with that crafting video of the guy with like 6 accounts making greatswords, i couldn’t imagine anyone enjoying that. I’d rather work at my real job and make $15 an hour and just buy gold. If you want to compare rl money to your flipping method, i’m pretty sure buying the gold with rl money would win.
As for myself i’m more a speculator/investor. I usually buy thing for the long run. Trying to compete with millions of other players with buy orders is pointless to me and not worth my time.
Btw i can get a stack of silk playing wvw and salvaging my drops pretty quick. I think your kinda exaggerating your view to make your point.
That boring work you are doing, and competing with all those other buyers for buy orders is actually helping other get more gold for thier cabalist armors. You are also listing silk and undercutting others i’m sure, lowering the price of silk, so you could say your work is actually helping the poor. Although your work is boring, and myself and many others wouldn’t do it because our time is more important, you are still helping everyone and earning more then you could by playing. That’s the great benefit of having a free market.
I play wvw and have 180 mf, i usually get one every couple of days. i play 2-5 hours a day, but thats with non-stop killing npcs and players. I’d say most of my exotics come from champ bags and from rank up chests. If we are counting drops only, then maybe 1 a week or every other week.
John Smith
I was curious what happens to refunded gems, like when the wardrobe was introduced there were many refunds. To me it seems that this might accelerate the rise of gold to gem ratio, since the gems have to come from somewhere, like out of the pool of availible gems. Do you think this might be part of the recent rise in gold/gems ratio?
We were all new at some point. For most of us doing map completion was our first experiance with WvW also. I experianced similar troubles myself when i got my map completion. Anymore WvW is all i play. I just get bored with pve, and i see WvW is more an end game for me, since i’ve already got rich in PvE & got full ascneded and a legendary.
So 1st of all:
Zerker gear = Berserker (Power, Ferocity, Critical) stats.
They are basically saying make sure you have thoughness and vitality, to ensure you don’t get murdered to quick.
2nd:
As other’s have mentioned your server’s colors change each week, unless you get assigned the same color again, which happens a lot. On eternal battle grounds, you dont need to go accross the map this week, just get your 3rd of the map, close to the WP, and get your borderland map also. If your server is dominating then get as much as you can while your server owns it.
Then the following week, hopfully your server will be a different color, and you can get another borderlands map, and get another 3rd of the battlelands. It sounds like you are trying to rush it, you can just check the wvw maps each day to see what your server owns. Don’t get me wrong you can get map completion rather quickly just following the zerg if you guys are having a good week, because many times your server will invade other servers borderlands.
If you’re patient and check regularly you can get it without much effort in about a months time. Who knows, after playing WvW a bit you might come to love it.
Have fun!
They should release ones for white and black. Just imagine the chaos. Well probably not as much with the conversion rate.
It really wouldn’t suprise me anymore, who know what Anet will do next?
It’s funny how they stopped us from getting unid dyes as drops, and now this new item emerges in the gem store. Just another way for Anet to squeeze out more profits.
Bacon comes from pigs, of which there are two ‘types’ of pigs in this game. You have the ambient mob, and the juvenile pig.
Yep! Pigs are rare in Tyria, & bacon takes the expertise of a grandmaster chef. In a few more updates (lvl 500 cooking) maybe can eat these delicious looking little piggies.
wind catcher perfectly (darn it used to be 10g)
I think you’re mistaken, the Wind Catcher’s low point was around 30g this release. Although similar skins like the Lightening Catcher & Sun Catcher were around 10g.
Bazaar of the Four Winds will return and it will be availible next July. They may be rereleased in a new living story loot bag in the future aslo.
(edited by Curse Drew.8679)
First off, I don’t see traidingpost flipping as legitimate way to acquire gold, especially not if it’s the most rewarding way to get gold.
You could say it’s the most rewarding way to get gold & you could also say it’s the fastest way to loose all your gold. With Anet constantly changing, introducing, & reintroducing things every week, investing is sometimes like holding a hot potato, dont hold it to long or you might get burned, but dont sell it to fast or you might not get the most profit.
One could say that traidingpost flipping requires some sort of skill
It does take skill. If it’s so easy why are you not doing it?
Those players literally don’t have to play the game at all to get almost everything, while players who are actually playing the game can’t compete with that volume of income.
Playing the trading post is playing the game. Why do you have to compete with the richest people in the game? Being rich is more a time investment then anything. Some rich people haven’t played the market or spent any rl money, they’ve just played since the start, & been wise with their earnings.
Honestly, i very rarely experiance any lag!
WTS 3 tickets to hell!
OFFER
This update broke too many things! Please fix our game, before everyone leaves.
While I am thrilled with the bulk of the changes that come with the wardrobe, I will be requesting a refund for all of my town clothes that I can no long mix and match, as they will no longer be functioning as they were sold to me.
This is my thoughts also. How can you say you will only refund town clothing made into tonics, when outfits will no longer be mix and match, which is a change we did not agree to when we purchased the outfits.
It’s the announcement about legendarys becoming account bound. You can now make twilight and use it on all your characters, or make the incinerator and use it in both hands & use it on multiple characters. This announcement is causing a big demand for legendarys. So everyone’s buying them out faster then precursers can be farmed. As demand rises & supplies vanish, prices will rise.
I can usually complete all the world event bosses in about 2 hours currently by guesting to 2 other high population servers. I check gw2stuff for which events are going and hop from server to server and complete them quickly. The new schedule seems to revolve around a 5 hours rotation, which seems too long, and will make my daily routine longer. I’d like to see quicker times for those who don’t have much time to play to be able to get as much done as possible and have less time waiting around between events.
(edited by Curse Drew.8679)
They only way you are going to control a market is with limited time event items. Items that are currently obtainable in game will cause mass undercutting when you try to buyout supply to raise the price. If the demand is high enough the price will stick, but you will get undercut no matter which item you pick, there’s no avoiding it.
I wouldn’t try now though, because the introduction of the Ultimate Citizen’s Rescue Bag made it apparent that Anet will introduce more copies of items that are short on supply.
I prob lost about 3k gold worth of value from multiple investments that were rereleased (some skins but mainly recipies) in the bags.
I’m not mad though, i knew the risk when i bought the stuff that this could happen. I think they will go back up some after the events over, as long as they aren’t constantly rereleasing old skins & other limited edition items.
It kinda ruins my faith in the whole temporary content market, who knows which items they will decide to rerelease and which will stay limited. Are they going to drop Greatsaw swords next holloween?
the general consensus is just under 1% chance.
Yep, and that using exotics, not yellows.
Here is a link to some of the best known evidence of the true odds:
(edited by Curse Drew.8679)
The odds were pretty low & only came from blc & mad king chests.
And ur clearly not aware of the fact that it was so easy to get them when they came out, and they were like 30g.
Don’t forget when the game came out 30g was a kitten ton. I remember how hard & long it took to make 1g back then.
Nowadays it’s ridiculously easy to make gold. You can do one meta event and in less then 5 min have a good chance to make 1g.
Anet has made many updates that changed loot from meta events, dungeons, & champions that make it so much easier to get gold.
Sheesh, Food extender. That’s hardly convinient, you’ll still have to click the food and watch the timer to keep it ongoing.
Where’s my fridge i can throw a stack of food into and it auto consumes?
When the timer is 12 hrs long you really don’t have to be that worried about watching the clock. I think this is a pretty useful item.
Ya it’s ok. I hoping a food extender would of been implimented in a permanent 1 time purchase way. It is useful, but not what i want to spend my gems on.
Sheesh, Food extender. That’s hardly convinient, you’ll still have to click the food and watch the timer to keep it ongoing.
Where’s my fridge i can throw a stack of food into and it auto consumes?
The current meta events have been in place for a while, i don’t think messing with the current meta bosses timers is a good idea.
Although, i think adding some all new rare instance bosses could be a good & new permanent content to add. Maybe a boss hunter achievement with new bosses that spawn randomly & occasionally each week, making them rare to find. I’d totally support new bosses being added, doing the same ones everyday is getting stale.
Nothing has changed that i know of.
You could never mix exotics, only rare and lower tiers.
If you could sell them they would be worthless, (except maybe empyreal fragments). Most players have too much dragonite ore & bloodstone dust, & anyone who does need it could pick them up cheap as dirt, because the supply would far exceed the demand.
What most people do is upgrade them to bricks, untill they have enough, & just delete the rest.
I think having the daily home mining nodes in there would help aswell, i never even use mine, because they are so inconvenient to port and run there. Although, having them in a place where im already at, then i’d definetly use it.
I realize Divinity Reach is a home town already, and i’m not suggesting you should be able to mine both places either. Just make those nodes appear in both places untill one is mined then the other will dissapear so you can’t mine both.
Also, since having the pass means we will no longer go to LA as much, we are actually loosing out on conveniently placed banners there. If you really want to make the Royal Tarrece more then just convenient place, i’m sure adding a permanent hero’s banner would encourage many people to buy it who think the pass is a waist. It’s not like this would really give any advantage either, only give us even more convenience, saving us from hunting the banners down. That would really be the ultimate bonus.
(edited by Curse Drew.8679)
Atleast it’s helping to lower the gold to gem exchange. The higher the price of mats get, the more people that are exchanging thier cash for gold. There hasn’t been one thread complaining about the price of gems getting out of hand all december. Anet obviously got a good boost in profits too, that’s a good way to finish off 2013.
Seriously, the pay to win again after what i just said, are you trying to make me crazy?
they should seek professional help outside of the game.
Yep, i think i’m gunna need some of that!
How many people do you think would be playing this game if they couldn’t convert gold to gems? I wouldn’t be. You know how many $60 initial purchases they would of lost if Anet hadn’t decided to go the route they did? I research games before i play them, and if i knew this was a game that blocked items to players who dont spend more cash before i bought it, i never would of. The game was designed with a gold to gem exchange, even if it doesn’t generate direct revenue, the fact they offer the option generated revenue from those who decided to play paying $60 orginally for the game for it’s fairness of this option.
No body said a mini pet is pay to win either, maybe you should reread the thread again. I only mentioned the tactic of blocking content follows the tactics of pay to win game’s business model. No one ever said GW2 was pay to win lol.
So thanks for making me repeat myself yet again, i’m really feeling like a broken record. I was already done with this thread, but just had to press my buttons by putting words in my mouth.
