ArenaNet, please stop trolling the player base and remove all non-berserk/rampager gear from pve, since that they are obviously useless.
Next is the assumption that more gold will lead to inflation. Again, wrong. Whether or not inflation happen is dependent on the ratio of gold to other materials/drop entering the economy. If ANet suddenly double the gold supply, but increase mob drops and harvesting nodes yield by 10x there will be no inflation, in fact, the cost of everything will drop and deflation will happen.
(note: By doubling gold supply I mean the gold that is left in the system after taking into account gold sinks)
No because you are describing a system that expanded naturally with population. The gold and drops per capita has remained the same.
Lastly, inflation is the economy’s way of finding an equilibrium, its the game’s way of telling the players “maybe you shouldn’t farm CoF path 1 so much and farm drops instead?”. Hyper inflation is bad, because it force the players to store their wealth in some other asset that is not as convenient as gold, but inflation itself isn’t.
And most definitely no. Inflation is a rise in the general level of prices of goods and services in an economy over a period of time. This happens when more gold is in the game and it’s not due to player growth. The average gold per player has increased but the supply of goods hasn’t. This means more gold chasing after the same supply of goods so prices will rise to a new equilibrium point. The change is due to inflation but inflation isn’t the method to get it there, that’s simple supply and demand.
Did you even read? These 2 section of my post have nothing to do with population and player growth at all.
behold NSP 2.0+ a beautiful t3 bay with a wp. wat a beauty
Yes… and one of the reason you manage to held bay was because you are aided by a hacker. Not to say that you guys could not have done it otherwise, but we would never know now. Your defense of bay is certainly very determine but your victory is tainted.
I’m a bit curious as to why you took the screenshot before the fireballs started hitting you?
What are you talking about? There was a weird explosion effect on the treb and its health start going down. I took a look around and see no siege firing and no nsp around. Then I stand near to the treb and got hit too, so I check my combat log and took a screen shot.
Besides the point, NSP did this last time we faced each other. I tried to do it on my own ele but was unsuccessful. They are the only server that has done this.
If an ele is attacking me, it will say the something like NSP invader hit you for xxx, but no, the damage log say the source is “Unknown”.
The map time I set to server time. The log time is my local time.
If the material vanishes but the gold not wouldn´t that lead to an inflation?
It is natural for more and more gold to enter the system for an mmo and that is neither an inflation nor necessary a bad thing.
Imagine a game that has 1000 account, each account have an average of 10 gold, 10,000 gold in the entire system. Sometime later, the game has grow to 10,000 account and if each has 10gold on average again, there are now 100,000 gold in the system. Its only nature for the MMO’s economy to grow as the game grows.
I keep seeing post where flippers brag that they are doing a service to gw2 economy by sinking the gold and curbing inflation. They are wrong.
When a player plays the game he gain not only gold, but various other materials and drops. If gold is easier to get than other materials and drops, the value of gold will drop, ie inflation. The opposite will happen if gold is harder to get. This even out the reward vs time of various activities and is good for the game.
TP flipping remove gold from the game. It help keeps the value of gold high, but at the same time, keep the relative value of other drops and materials low. The players who gain more gold than materials/drops benefit, while those who gain more materials/drop lose out.
I am sorry tp flippers, you are actually not doing a service here. If gold is too easy to get, it is only right that _its value should drop in a free market.
Once the value of gold drop, more ppl will do activities that earn drops and materials instead of farming gold and this will actually be better for gw2’s economy.
Ele can actually instant rez themselves when then go down in certain cases.

Not sure if the op is referring to it.
Thanks for the advise, I will try shield #5 against lupi again.
Once upon a time long ago, when TA left HoD and we started our long fall from #1 down to tier 7, at off peak hours we could not even hold a single tower in our borderland.
I feel your pain AR, but trust me, it will get better eventually. Keep trying and it will happen.
Look at this match up. http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups/history/24
GoM dominated, but one day in that week, we sweep the whole EB and turned it green. It was a huge moral booster and we stabilized in tier 7 after that.
Good luck.
Oh.. and that remind me, look at the next match up
http://mos.millenium.org/na/matchups/history/26
I still remember the amount of gloating DR spew onto the forums when they break out of tier 8. See how the tables had turn.

I had been meleeing him on both my guardian and my mesmer and I have a question about his AoE in p2. On my mesmer, my feedback will go off perfectly protecting the whole group from damage. However, when my guardian use shield of absorption, damage still seems to get through even when the shield is up. I can see my shield bubble up, but my health still drops while I am inside.
I am not sure what the problem is, wrong timing? Faster/slower? Or should I not use shield and double dodge instead?
Was doing an event, saw a message in my chat box “xxxx (a party member) has enter room 102”.
What the heck is room 102?! Curiosity got the better of me and I foolishly clicked the link… and promptly got thrown into a spvp room.
By the time I get rid of the choose side pop up, click on the sword icon to go to heart of the mist THEN click on sword again to leave the mist, the event has already ended and I did not get credit for it.
Throwing someone into a spvp room just like that without confirmation is a huge mistake. I at least know how spvp interface work. What if its a new player who has no idea what this crap is? Imagine how confuse that person will be, how will he know how to get back?.
I know ArenaNet you want to push this esport thing, but this incident has only make me more annoyed with it.
I completed tier 1, turn it up, completed it again. Switch char for another candidate. Say tier 1, completed it, turn it up. Guess with tier I am at?
Tier 3.
A little kitten ed after wasting several minutes before noticing this, since I need to complete tier 1 and 2 first.
Quit. Start again. Turn it down. Guess which tier I am at now? Tier 1.
What the hell is this?? Who designed this interface, how did it pass QA?
Why do I have to guess which tier I am at? Just tell me, I don’t want to play a random number guessing mini game.
Just want to report something weird here. I was roaming in nsp borderlands a couple of hours ago when I encounter 3 bots running from the sentry between bay and garrison all the way to vale. I followed they there but they seems to just stop at a corner and do nothing.
Just a head up for the community to look out for these bots. They must be up to something.
The down state is actually a huge improvement over what other game has. When you are down, you can still affect the fight some what and contribute instead of just staying there dead and hope someone cast a resurrect on you. Which do you prefer? Able to do something or able to do nothing?
Yes, down state make it more difficult to win a 1v2 but when you are able to pull it off, the victory is even sweeter. If you are not able to finish, you don’t deserve the kill.
Yes, reviving is very powerful however, it also put the reviver at a HUGE risk to himself. You are basically a sitting duck in that few seconds and if you can’t absorb that much damage, you are downed as well. Risk vs reward, I can’t count the number of times I am downed while trying to revive.
Down state rewards teamwork, knocking off an opponent who is about to stomp an ally and then quickly reviving that ally is a very satisfying experience.
There are flaws in the down state though, such as different class have down states of different effectiveness, some are just not too good. The revival speed could also be slow down some, making reviving more of a risk.
Urg so much stupidity in this thread in support for an obvious flaw/glitched boss.
I’m suuuuuure it’s a glitch that the spiders are now aggroing and not letting you afk autoattack a boss like before. I’m suuuuure it was intended by anet for all of you to jump on the leaf and afk auto too.
Get real. What’s happening is that now you have to complete the fight the intended way, something pugs have never done because this boss was one of the most exploited, afkrange boss of the game until now. The groups “strategies” in pugs until now were all about either jumping on something on the map that allowed you to afkauto or to max range it and only kill the first pack while completely ignoring everything else in the room.
They only changed the aggro mechanism to reflect the way boss adds work in other dungeons. Can you ignore the adds from AC P1 boss, or kholer ? Can you ignore the grubs in the grawl shaman fractal ? the fact that you could do this fight while ignoring everything else in the room was the glitch. Not the current situation.
Humm? I don’t think you have never done this boss using the range method before.
Firstly, standing on a vine and ranging the the boss only work for TA Up path, only for certain class that have 1200 range and ArenaNet had fix it such that the mortars spawn closer now, you can no longer ignore them. Standing on the vine for TA F/U is a death sentence as there is no room for you to dodge and kite up there while ranging.
You are also wrong about only needing to kill the first pack. The boss keep summoning waves of spiders at various percentage of his health. Only at ~30% health will he stop summoning the spiders and the fight become relatively safe. (Only need to dodge when the boss slam his left fist and shakes)
This path have always been the hardest of all TA paths, one that I will only do with a pug if the group is competent in up and f/f path. If ArenaNet buff the difficulty of say Up path final boss, no one will complain much as that fight is just too easy. But to make an already hard boss fight harder.. I simply cannot comprehend the logic behind it and must assume its an unintended change.
I died like ~20 times trying to do the diving goggles because the #3 skill keep overshooting me. However, I eventually discover that by pressing the backward key a sec or so while in the air, you will slow down enough to land correctly. Depends a great deal on luck, but its a work around.
Ah, thank you. I hasn’t been playing my ele much and mostly use staff or d/d so didn’t notice.
Please close this topic.
I am trying out scepter/focus on target dummies and 90% of the time when I try to cast flamewall while auto attacking, the cast will fail and go into a 4s cool down. If I turn off the auto attack, the cast will succeed every time.
It seems that the auto attacking from the scepter fire is interrupting the flamewall cast. Anyone else having this problem? If so is there a work around other than turning off auto attacks?
I find it hard to believe that this kind of problem still exist.
Before the AC revamp I use to do the boss the normal way, dodging the howls etc. After the revamp? Stack at safe spot auto attack…. collect loot. Only major difference is path 2, no one does it anymore.
I wouldn’t say AC is dead though, still see plenty of ppl leveling alts using it. They mainly switch out at the end of the boss fight.
I made the same mistake as you too, contacted support and they refuse to help. Another person I know mystic forged bolt precursor contact support and got it back, so apparently dungeon tokens are too insignificant for them to care about.
But anyway, you can still use that armor as a skin for you ranger by transmuting the dungeon armor onto a white armor. This will make it account bound. Your ranger can now take that armor and transmute it.
It is interesting to see how some people in this thread are ranting about how easy the boss is to kill if you just do A, bring utility skill B, use weapon C, have trait D, have enough dps and melee the boss etc etc.
Its all very well and good if you are doing this as a coordinated guild run, but to expect a pug to meet all these requirements is simply unrealistic. This is especially true after a change in the boss mechanics when the new knowledge on how to effectively do the boss hasn’t filter down to the average player yet.
1) Are you a mesmer/thief? -> are your CDs up? If yes then what are you waiting for…kill them. no-> wait for CDs.
2) Are you ranger/ele/guardian? Dont worry, just outlast them, they will die eventually.
I am confused… so what will happen when a mesmer/thief with all CD up engage a ranger/ele/guardian?!
Imagine that you found a great farming spot producing tier Z material X, so good that it out perform anything else in the game. You start farming it and earn more gold that you know what to do with. However, random ppl who saw you farming there follows and the secret is soon out. Material X start flooding into the market and you find your profits diminished. Sadly the law of supply and demand had came into play. Over time, the price of material X drop so much that you abandon your farming spot and go back to farming CoF path 1…
-The End-
Wait… why CoF path 1. What make the farming of gold so special that it seems to defy the laws of supply and demand? You can farm more, and More, and MOAR gold and its value never seems to drop?
I think its safe to say that gw2 have not experienced significant inflation since the game matures. That is indeed a good thing in general. Imagine if the prices on the tp are doubling every month, that will make planning and saving up for big purchases very difficult. You will have to convert your gold into materials asap and only do the reverse when you absolutely need to buy something. Buying and selling would become very difficult.
So.. unlike normal materials, gold is special, its a medium of exchange, everything ties into it, is valued by it. And most importantly, ArenaNet have a very vested interest to keep its value stable. A stable economy avoid the problem listed above, and keep players happy (mostly) as they go about earning gold and materials and trading them.
I don’t have the numbers ArenaNet have and I have no idea how they are keeping the economy stable despite the influx of gold from CoF path 1. But one thing is certain, they will actively keep the price of gold stable or at worst, allow a slow but steady inflation. So don’t bother farming anything else, gold is special, farming gold is THE way to farm.
ps:
This post is in the bltc section and not in the dynamic event section because its not really a post about farming >.<
More of my observation on gw2’s economy instead. Criticism welcomed.
Flippers also help the economy by sinking gold through listing and selling fees.
TL;DR: when creating money out of thin air, prices of all items go up, so players wont be able to buy more
You are right that the prices of non-vendor items will go up. However, the purchasing power of players who actively play and earn exp will increase relative to those who don’t. Not to say that this is a good idea though. CoF path 1 farmers will be earning even more gold with the exp conversion and the number of CoF farmers are huge compared to tp flippers. The small number of tp flippers are nerf, the CoF farmers are buffed, over all I think its still a lose to the average player.
About this idea that tp flippers are helping the economy by sinking gold, as I posted in another thread, this activity only players who create alot of gold, eg, CoF farmers. Players create both gold, mobs drops and harvested materials as they play. By sinking gold and keeping gold’s value high, the value of mob drops and harvested materials are lowered hurting the players who produce those.
I don’t understand why flippers want to earn a profit and feel they are doing a good deed to the economy at the same time, and even worst, try to convince others that they are.

The grenade kit’s explosions, especially blinding flash give me a headache if I play with my engineer for a prolong period of time. Please consider toning down the effects.
The average player shouldn’t be expected to know websites like http://jsfiddle.net/ and gw2bear.com. OP’s group should have guest to one server together to open it, however, to expect a pug to be kind enough to do that is really doubtful.
Just did this with a pug of 2 guardian, 1 engineer, 1 mesmer and 1 ranger. Alot more spiders spawn now, and it seems that whenever a wave is killed off, another wave spawns. Guardian alternate wall of reflection and shield of absorption while 1 person dps the boss. Barely doable.
Upon reflection, I think maybe we can keep the last spider or 2 alive so that the next wave will not trigger. Also, are the spider spawn infinite now? Use to be that they stop spawning after awhile.
I don’t know if this is a good idea. One thing I discovered is that there is a very wide difference in skill level among the players. Whats merely challenging for one group might be impossible for another.
For example, I had even been in a group that fail CoF path 1. I know, sounds unbelievable right, that’s what I thought when a guild mate ask for my help. One of the party member had rage quit at the gate part. I took down the gate, but the boss is just impossible with one group member running naked and a few keep getting downed/defeated. Rez them and the boss is back a full health.
I can’t imagine how ArenaNet can make the game more difficult while catering to the weaker players.
I would like to point out that despite what several ppl in this thread keep insisting, ArenaNet have merely changed the quality of the mini from rare to masterwork instead of disabling forging, they obviously does not consider forging those minis to be an exploit.
And yes, ArenaNet does have a tracking system for the forge. Someone I know forge the precursor for bolt by mistake, contacted ArenaNet support and received it back. So please stop making assumptions on ArenaNet’s behalf.
Last time I checked, Arena-Net likes flippers, it keeps things being listed 100x more often than not creating a loss on gold that keeps your gold worth more. Like waypoints, WvW, all gold sinks. Flippers DO NOT abuse anyone, it’s the average persons CHOICE to sell cheap, and buy high. Flippers take advantage of it. If Arena Net didn’t want this, they would get rid of the instant sell option and then bidders(flippers) wouldn’t get items in at a cheap price. Obviously this isn’t want Arena Net wants, they want people to sink gold out of the economy in this cycle of having an instant sell/instant buy option.
I would have a problem with something “controlling” a very limited item and making people pay 10x more than what it should be worth, than people who put bid offers in, and relist it at the current economy price of choice.
It’s the fact that people hate the fact others make a profit easier than they do that fuel this hate. You can make a lot more gold than most flippers just playing legitly farming tier 6 materials anyways. Only a few flippers can make a lot of gold in a day, probably 0.0001% of the total player base.
Yes, ArenaNet like flippers because they sink gold from the economy and make gold worth more, I agree. However, you made the mistake of assuming that whats good for ArenaNet is good for the individual players.
When a player plays the game, they generate various resources, gold, mob drops, harvested materials. For gold being worth more to benefit a player, that player have to be generating more gold than other resources, because if the value of gold raises, the relative value of other resources falls. In another words, the main group that tp flippers benefits are the CoF farmers.
You are right that flippers does not abuse anyone, they are merely taking advantage of an opportunity to make money inherent in the system. However, this profits come at the expanse of other players. Gold and materials doesn’t come out from no where, if flippers are profiting, it means other players are losing. This is a simple fact. If flippers are profiting at the expanse of other players, of course they will be disliked, this is human nature. I don’t understand why you are upset over this.
Remember, everything is a double edged sword, if someone benefits, someone else loses, even if only relatively.
If you are like the average player who buy only what he need to use and sell excess mats changes like this will hardly affect you at all. If you hoard certain mats expecting huge profits, well risk vs reward.
If this discourage ppl from hoarding mats, all the better, less profit for these players equal more profit for the average player who doesn’t.
@Flippers are actually good to the economy since they relist items over and over, this is actually taking ALOT of gold out of the economy. They only profit off people that choose to be lazy since they are buying at cheap price and selling next cheapest. I realize a lot of people hate THE IDEA of how they are making easy money, but it’s not a terrible thing, and anyone can do it. As far as hoarding a limited item and controlling it… not a lot of that is done, most people save them early/cheap and resell later… nothing wrong with that.
_Its weird how ppl all assume that sinking gold is a good thing. If gold are in short supply, sinking gold will actually be bad. Also, flippers doesn’t do what they do to benefit the economy, they do so out of a selfish desire to line their own pockets, as we all do.
Flippers not only profit off players who are lazy. The average player who buy and sell to those lazy players suffer a profit lost too. The only dubious benefit flipping provide is that goods move faster on the tp.
Flippers benefits at the expense of the average player, which is why they are disliked. Nothing wrong with that, if you want fast money, there is a price to be paid.
Agree with the rest of your points though.
Notice that some people are claiming that low tier 6 mat drop rate is still a problem that ArenaNet need to fix.
I will just like to point out that with ecto salvageable to tier 6 dust, there is a soft cap on the price of all tier 6 mats now. Tier 5 mats are super abundant, so the price of all tier 6 mats are cap by indirectly by the price of ecto.
Very elegant solution really, there will never be a crisis of tier 6 mats again. However, this is bad news for farmers as tier 6 mats will no longer be very profitable to farm.
Edit:
Just to add, since that ecto prices are also capped by the price of tier 5 mats, ore and wood that are very abundant (since you can craft rares and slavage), the whole system is very stable.
(edited by Cymric.7368)
Some people here are ridiculous. Minis are a very niche market that not many people care about. This is the first time I know that event minis is a separate system from store brought mini. I am sure most of the player base doesn’t know this as well.
A random player who open alot of dragon chests can easily have gotten 4 minis and decide to forge them unknowingly, gotten lucky and start trying for more. They would have thought that ArenaNet have decide to decrease the price of mini like what they did with tier 6 dust.
Saying that if something is too good to be true, then it must be an exploit is not good enough. Again, look at the ecto salvageable to dust change. After the patch, lots of ppl salvage ectos to create dust and sell them immediately for huge profits before the price drop. Is this too good to be true? Yes. Is this an exploit? Obviously no.
Just to add, I have no interest in collecting a set of mini and never forge any. Only know about this issue when I read the forums.
If the person know about this mini system and still do it, then that person is indeed exploiting and should be banned. However, there is absolutely no way to determine this and I do not think a blanket ban will be fair. Ultimately its up to arenaNet to decide though.
I currently have 8 alts with most having multiple sets of armor and weapons for various builds. If they ever introduce ascend weapons and armor that have significant stats advantage and take too much time to get, I will probably quit this game immediately.
The huge time sink required to gear up a char fully is limiting my ability to experiment with builds, which was what I enjoy most in gw1.
@Amun Ra
I think gw1 (and to a lesser extend gw2) have a vastly superior end game gear system than “Most MMO’s” and that a big part of the reason why I am not playing those MMOs.
(edited by Cymric.7368)
Judging from the fact that the price of tier 6 scales had fallen from 29-30s to 25-26s, there is definitely a healthy supply of scales coming in from somewhere.
Get your friend to submit a support ticket. I remember seeing a post where the op did the same thing and got a refund eventually. They really need to be clear on what “unique” means.
…
If there’s a limit of gold we can’t transcend per hour (or we get called on exploiting), may we please know it? We play the weaknesses of monsters and bosses and reap rewards I get it, I also get it that some players who rather play the Trading Post game do the same but in that interface. Yet it doesn’t seem that they have any limit of gold/hour.
It’s obvious CoF P1 will get overhauled, suprised it hasn’t happened yet. Maybe I ought to play less the normal game and go to finance/economy courses so I can play the TP game.
Those who play the TP does not introduce any new gold or materials into the game. In fact, I expect ArenaNet actually see them as beneficial since that every tp transactions remove some gold from the game.
ArenaNet is probably afraid that if players are able to get materials and gold too fast, they will be able to acquire everything they want in the game and lose interest. Thats why farming get nerf but tp trading will never be.
Note that tp trading is a zero sum game, if some tp players are earning huge profits, it means that resources are funneled from the rest of the players to them, making it harder and longer for the rest to get what they want.
Stability is converted to fear if a necro corrupt boon it.
No, this is one of the worst boss design ever. The amount of knock downs he has is stupid. Reasonable amount of cc is good, as it give value to having stun breakers, but this boss is just too much. Taking control of the character from players is BAD, I wonder how ArenaNet never learn after so long.
Edit:
First run was done using a beserker engineer. Tried again with my guardian, end up in a party with 4 guardians. Difference is day and night, face tanked him with just the occasion need to move him to a mine. Stability make a huge difference.

@Ethics.4519
Interesting point about the trash mobs accumulating, I usually focus on kiting them. Perhaps I should spend more effort to dps them down.
@TooBz.3065
I think he is using pistol and shield. Don’t think he is using net turrets, even if he is I think it will get destroyed too fast by all the mobs running around anyway.
I am surprised that so many people recommend melee. Is melee recommended because of the cleave or the dps? I am using p/v/t armor with berserker trinkets and I always feel too squishy to melee for long. With so many charrs running around wouldn’t it be much harder to kite them with melee?
I am also surprised at the greatsword hate, I am shatter build and greatsword can generate a clone every 4.8s so it seems to complement the build nicely. The auto attack can also hit up to 3 targets in a line now, which seems nice for clearing trash mobs here.
Staff is a nice defensive weapon, but it take time to build up conditions, so I feel it lack burst against the assassins.
I was at the part where we need to defend Magg as he plant the explosives. Our group consist of 3 mesmers, 1 warrior and 1 engineer. We failed the first 2 times and the engineer complain that the mesmers are not using feedback, null field, time warp and not using swords.
I myself is running a shatter build with greatsword, sword/focus while atleast 1 other another mesmer is using staff. I will admit that with 3 mesmers we could have coordinate instead of saving time warp til the last 90%. However, I don’t see any of the mobs using conditions so null field should be useless. I normally slot feedback, but for this fight, since that everyone is on the move constantly, and with the amount of knock downs, I slot mirror image instead. The other 2 slots are decoy and blink, my staple for dungeons.
He did bring up a good point about swords, since that sword #3 has an AoE immobilize. However, since that the assassins spawn randomly around the room, greatsword seems to be a better weapon as it can attack from range, and does have a AoE cripple with the beserker. It also seems to be that focus #5 will hardly do any damage since that the assassin is constantly moving and has stability. The only damage will come from blurred frenzy and the auto attack, which hardly seems to overcome the range disadvantage.
To be honest, I treat sword/focus as a very situational weapon and only use it for its invul (against subject alpha), the focus pull, against stationary targets (focus #5) and the autoattack cleave when the party los the mobs together. In all other cases I vastly prefer the greatsword for the safer range.
My question is, is he right, especially with the part about swords? And if you are doing CoF path 2 with a mesmer, do you expect the mesmer to perform these utilities? Lastly any advise for doing this part more reliably? Seems that every few runs I will get a party that fails here a few time before succeeding.
They should really make story mode unlocks account wide instead. However, if they are not willing to do this, then at a minimum they should provide us with such an interface.
Having the armor be account bound on acquire and then soul bound on use will be useful. For example I brought a light armor glove by mistake for my ranger once. If the armor is account bound, I can let another char use it, instead of it being completely useless.
Thank you very much, got my world completion done!
I am on HoD and this is the last vista I need for world completion too. Had been a week and I still couldn’t get it done because of the bug. Quite disappointing that this kind of progress blocking bug still exist in the game.
I was doing Arah path 4 for the first time with a pug today. I opened the dungeon, took us ~2hrs+ and we are at simin. Then I was suddenly disconnected from the game and gw2 would not allow me to log in. I tried and tried and gw2 only allow me back in after ~15 mins.
By that time, my party had kicked me and the dungeon closed. I feel very sorry for them because simin really need a full group to do and I can’t blame them for kicking me. However, doing that cause them to lose all their progress, 2hr+ for everyone.
When the dungeon opener leave the party, the instance should stay open. Please fix this bad design asap.
I don’t know why such a basic feature is missing in this forums, but its driving me crazy. When I click on a link to a forum post, this forum direct me to a log in page and after I log in, direct me to the main page, instead of the page I try to get to.
Many times I open links to this forum from another site, close that tab only to realize that I lost all those links because this forum want me to log in.
Instead of directing to the main page, save the link that the user is trying to get to and direct the user there after log in. If this is too hard for your web programmer to implement… at least use a redirect that does NOT overwrite browser history so that I can use to back button to go back to the desired page.
