So I had the Daily Underwater, Crafter, and Combo but when I ported to LA I suddenly had Dodger and Healer instead! What gives??
This happen to anybody else?
Its a bot that travels beneath the map to different gathering nodes, pops up, gathers and then goes underground to the next node.
Don’t expect them to tell you what they ninja patched!
People do CoF speedruns even after hitting DR because of the Molten Cores, Rares, and the fact the Silver still rewards them at the end. It’s also good for grinding tokens even with the reduced rewards (though you can switch to an alt an hour or two later and get max reward.)
People like me grind CoF because we want Volcanus!
I do it every 2 hours for maximum benefit so it puzzles me when people run constantly.
I thought DR was suppose to stop this? But it hasn’t and I was wondering why do people still do it if there getting hit by DR? I asked some obnoxious fellow in front of CoF that was shouting for one more person and he only answered me with MOOLAH and nothing else. When I asked him why do it when DR is in place he told me that he didn’t want me and to shut up in a not so nice way lol. So why do people do it multiple times in a row if DR kicks? I don’t get :/
I am like the OP, sometimes i like to just kill stuff and see what i get, or kill stuff that drops what i need/want.
DR was implemented under the guise of a bot deterrent, as we the players all know, bots were quite rampant in the past and Anet has gotten a pretty good handle on it now with their dedicated team of bot detectors and some new code. DR will and has never stopped botting, bots will just add a line to their code to switch areas every hour. DR will and has only ever hurt the legitimate players.
Ask yourself this. Now that bots are fairly rare and there is new code and a dedicated team assigned to banning them, why is DR still in effect? The amount of mats required for the best infusions and some other high end gear is ridiculous, 250 of this 100 of that, but you can’t farm for it. They want you to need gold, and they limit your ability to make gold or farm the mats directly. It makes the fastest and easiest option the Gem Store. It’s not an accident.
Bots are far from rare
Yes bots are still rampant within the game especially in Orr. They only seem rare due to the fact that they travel beneath the map!
Guild capes will not make an appearance because of the lore in Guild Wars.
The world of Tyria have changed, new races appearing and old races making new bonds. Charr dislike capes very much since it’s just in the way when running on all four. Backpacks are the new capes, which shows your guild emblem. Capes are such an outdated thing to use in the world of Tyria, backpacks are even better because you can store items in them and whatnot.
Why does Guild Wars lore forsake guild capes? Explain.
In fact where does it say the Charr dislike capes? There are short capes you know and that’s what the Charr would probably wear instead of a full length cape.
Yea NO I’m not paying that price for a guildback pack sorry. If capes are outdated then why do people still use carriages when they could use say a Charr tank to move across the country? Why do people still use magic its so outdated. And equipping a back in the game gives you more storage slots? No it doesn’t.
Capes/cloaks are used for concealment of a person and whatever they carry on them which is still quite viable in the world of modern Tyria especially for THIEVES! Plus it would be quite awesome to have them on my mighty characters!
It’s not in the lore, really. That was just what Izzy said in an interview.
Guild-Wars2.info: Why did you decide to implement guild back packs instead of capes like we saw in the original Guild Wars?
Izzy: After 250 years, guild fashion has had to adapt and change, especially as more diverse races started working together. The charr, for example, are not a big fan of the capes as they get in the way when running on all fours. The asura have calculated that capes increase the chance of fumbling in combat by 34.76819011% and thus avoid them at all costs.
AH that interview! That’s a bloody terrible lore cop out by Anet…. There are short capes which they didn’t even bother to think about obviously….
They need to add something, the guild gear in game now is pathetic
I like the weapons but that’s it the armors are TERRIBLE. And the backpacks are way over priced! Capes would be amazing! And if clipping is why there not being added that’s bull-kitten! In another thread some one mentioned adding sashimonos would be cool but that would be a problem with Charr definitely.
Oh man yes! Been waiting for a Quaggan back forever! I’m glad to see that they listened to the community to bring one of the most desired backs pieces into the game finally!
Of course the fridge horror of this is that technically in the real world it would be the equivalent of having a Baby Human backpack, what with Quaggan’s being intelligent and all.
Quaggan, intelligent? …you play guild wars right? lol
Well they are.
Guild capes will not make an appearance because of the lore in Guild Wars.

Want to boost morale within GW2? Get Anet to drop DR and you’ll see a huge boost in morale overnight.
The grind is still there dude they just made it ridiculous and gave more power to the people that just play at the TP all day long and manipulate the market as they see fit!
What you call “making the grind ridiculous” was actually making the grind unrewarding. Which is an excellent idea, and probably one of the simplest ways to prevent grinders from having much of an impact on the game.
Did you miss the part where I said they reward grinders because I believe you did.
Because people that enjoy grinding are are so bad, I don’t understand you people.
Yep, they are rather bad. They are the reason why MMOs are mediocre games: when you have people willing to play content that they don’t even find fun, but which they play in order to get a big reward in the end, you are telling game developers that they don’t have to bother making good games, rather games addicting enough.
That’s bad game design. Grind is basically telling people they are as smart as a donkey following a carrot dangling in front of its face. It’s a shame that indeed, grinders are not much better than that, but the end result is that MMOs are now seen as games made for grinders, and not for anyone else. However, there aren’t enough grinders for all the MMOs currently available, so it’s no surprise MMO after MMO has been failing.
GW2 is trying to go into the opposite direction – as ArenaNet has said, GW2 is a MMO for people who don’t like MMOs (aka, people disgusted with grinders, farmers, and addicts). Now, grinders are facing this MMO and cannot understand why are they not being rewarded for grind, since that’s how every other MMO works – but that’s not how GW2 works. And, being unwilling to accept that, grinders fill this forum with whining and moaning.
That is the part of the community ArenaNet should ignore. They are not the game’s target audience, and they are not a valuable part of the community anyway (since they are just going to leave to a different game, as soon as the next big MMO is released).
So lets curb that by removing DR so people can farm whatever they need
In other words, allow grinders to grind as much as they want? Don’t think so. As ArenaNet has said, “we don’t want players to grind”.
WHAT? For grinding like crazy you get rewarded with a LEGENDARY/COOL EXOTIC or you can buy them with the gold you GRINDED for. And that’s if your successful at the Random Number Game to get your Precursor or if you have a LOT of gold which you HAVE to GRIND for…..
The grind is still there dude they just made it ridiculous and gave more power to the people that just play at the TP all day long and manipulate the market as they see fit! So is that who the game caters to then? Power hungry players who want to be all powerful TP moguls that lord over the average players by shifting prices as they see fit? I want to think no but from what I see in game is a different story.
Making the grind stupid ridiculous was the worst thing they could do. Anet may not want players to grind but players always find a way to do as you can see now. Did I forget to mention that they reward you for grinding even though they don’t like grinders?
“We really don’t like you Mr. Grinder and we are going to punish the bots and your fellow grinders with our DR system that’ll force you to move around the game world every hour or so! And we’ll make sure the loot tables are ridiculously low as well! Oh you still want to grind? Here’s your Legendary/Conjured Exotic, how’s that for punishment eh?”
Sounds like hypocrisy to me :/
So in the end DR needs to go quick as it was a temporary fix that no longer works.
edit: Oh and your quote in your signature? “Otherwise, your MMO becomes all about grinding to get the best gear. We don’t make grindy games.” That is utter hypocrisy now by two factors:
1. Fractals of the Mist
2. Ascended Gear
(edited by DandySlayer.7019)
No I like the Warhorn too. But compare it’s effect to the freaking fireworks show that is Twilight/Sunrise?
As I said, it aint fair.
=/ This is off-topic. OP is talking about the quality of the legendaries, not the grind to get them.
Sorta relevant though.
The effort involved in getting the “crappy” Legendaries is very much the same as the one for the “good” ones.
It simply isn’t fair.
I am still going for the Warhorn though, but it will be bittersweet when I finally get it.
If you don’t like the crappy ones don’t go after the crappy ones -.- If you’re using the warhorn you’re what? A ranger, Necro, or Warrior. All of them have other legendary weapon options that are fitting: frostfang for Necro, Kudzu or Rogdort for Ranger, and Warriors have plenty of options because everything’s designed for them lol. But yeah crappy legendaries shouldn’t require the same grind: if the chicken harp played music and left a trail of music notes then it’d be great. The scepter should leave like cloud footprints and a trail of clouds when swung. I think the rest are pretty cool though I understand that not everyone loves rainbows and unicorns
You gotta be trolling here. Demanding that all Legendaries be equally nice is of course outrageous and stupid? I’m a Warrior, but I don’t WANT to use a Greatsword. Should I be punished with a crappier Legendary? No, my other options should be just as sweet. Also, whats up with THREE Legendary Greatswords? Not only are they the best designed ones, but there’s different ones to choose from! Someone really favoured working on the Greatswords over the other weapons…
Well technically there two greatswords as the third is those two put together :/
It’s one of the things (like most of the things) from the manifesto video that were greatly exaggerated (just like “if you save a village they residents will remember”…no, they don’t). So it’s likely implemented and in the way they intended it just doesn’t reflect how they were promoting it and comes off as fairly hollow when actually playing it.
^This.
If you want a character that actually develops a personality then go play SWTOR because its really good at that and telling a great story! GW2 just feels so dead in those departments even when they gave them crazy pre release hype! Maybe they’ll implement a better more Bioware like personality system to make your Personal Story feel more personal.
Grinders, farmers, addicts and exploiters are all bad for the game. ArenaNet is culling them away, but of course the grinders cannot understand how is it possible that a MMO is not cattering to them.
Those four are still in the game…. Except grinding and farming is crazy harder but still doable for some as long as you max out your magic find. Still plenty of addicts around that don’t stop playing. And exploiters still run rampant. So with DR and kitten loot tables all thats been done is to hinder the average player and force them to buy gems from the Gem store so they can buy whatever they need off the TP which a select few rule……
So lets curb that by removing DR so people can farm whatever they need without being punished if they want too! If not they can goto the TP if they feel lazy. For a game about options they really took out an important one…..
Make Precursors and Legendaries accountbound as well!
Sounds like he wants an Eternal Ash Legion Spy Kit that keeps you stealth’d and invulnerable until you deem it unnecessary.
To it was not enjoyable at all as the Personal Story does not feel personal at all! If you want a good personal story go to SWTOR (Which is the only thing I liked about that game). I just never felt connected to my character and with many of the people I met in the story. A part of the Sylvari storyline real grinds my gears……
Free transfer was never supposed to happen. It only came into being because guesting wasn’t ready.
Free transfer seriously damaged WvW.
Dragonbrand was once really awesome then it when belly up
I understand the game is still in “new” stages, but if I understood correctly there are different teams working on different areas of the game.
so updates to cosmetic items, armor and weapn skins is totally seperate from the team fixing bug, or the team fixing -insert whatever here-
Anet is bigger than they use to be but its not like Blizzard. We still don’t have the Scavenger Hunt yet and we won’t even be getting that for a good while! Skins will always be added but slowly. They do have priorities and cosmetics are not high on that list so far.
Not even half a year has passed so let them fix what they need to and let them bring some more cosmetic stuff in later.
@zaneber: Hopefully if Elona and Cantha expansions come out we’ll get cool old school armors from those regions.
Just Waypoint to an area full of friendlies or climb to somewhere that you can’t draw aggro at all. BOOM problem solved!
Hmmm….You think that’s air you’re breathing??
Nice Matrix quote!
I’m so glad that guesting and paid transfers are getting implemented finally! Maybe I’ll actually be proactive in WvW now…. now if only we could find a way to break up the zergs…..
What’s wrong with grinding again? Isn’t it something a player actually has to WORK to achieve? Or should people be shoehorned into playing a certain way? If a guy spends 4 hours of his life grinding karkas per day, then I don’t have a problem if he gets rich doing so, since he puts in the work.
Agreed. Its nice to have the option to do that and get my own materials without having to even glance at the TP.
It’s already been stated in here but DR was never meant for bots, any regular joe could see DR would never work against programmers who will simply create their bots around DR just like people did back in Diablo 2 with realm down.
Exactly now the bots just move under the zone and travel to different gathering nodes.
For the most part yea.
Or thats what DR has lead me to believe :/
Umm, no. I can complete most Orr events on my own, because most of the time it’s a ghost zone (no pun intended). The events just trigger randomly and you can do them over and over, or run around while no events are happening. The only groups are at temples and these are just zerg groups. There is nothing wrong with this, since that is how most zones function, but clearly you have no idea what I’m trying to get across.
The instanced events will be story driven and not to mention hard, and will need to be completed along with events happening at the same time elsewhere on the map. With three parties of five players each, you’ll need to do dungeon level fights and co-ordinate battle strategies as you do battles across the map. Boss fights sometimes wont even need all three parties, as with some fights one group will need to do a task elsewhere will the other two groups engage the boss.
If this sounds anything like Orr to you, then there’s something very wrong with the Orr on my server.
Your basically describing Straits of Devastation is what I’m getting here.
DR is used to extend the “gameplay experience” under the guise of deterring bots.
DR is great for the game. It’s not there to stop bots. No, it’s there to stop something far, far worse: grinders, farmers, addicts and exploiters.
Its also great for Anet’s bank account!
Instead of having a raid per se, I would rather have an instanced map like Underworld of FoE. There you’ll find complex events and simultaneous objectives to complete and even large scale world boss fights. This map can take hours to complete and can even be returned to.
I think this could work in the game.
They have that its called Orr
Orr is instanced for multi group tasks…? O_o
I’m not sure you get my concept, especially since you missed the edited part.
Basically, there will be one map with simultaneous objectives and DEs that you need to complete, they’re quite complex, not to mention you can fail them. So it’s important to work together. The map will progress along phases, and when you complete the final phase, you receive a special reward.
Orr certainly is nothing like this.
Actually that is Orr…….
Just trying to correct you

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. It’s generally used to stop piracy, not bots. The counter measures used by the dev team make it harder to bot. The reports that people give make it harder to bot. Believe it or not there has been a drastic decrease in bots, and I believe it’s because of the dev teams efforts in this regard. If I must suffer through a few months of a few side effects that don’t break the game for me in order to have a stable game down the road, I am more than happy to.
By drastic decrease in bots he means drastic decrease in VISIBLE bots. They are all under the map now and days :/
Yeah…no. No armor with particle effects all over them. This is not WoW, this is not an asian MMO (go look at some of the “special” armors from Aion).
Lets have armor that looks like armor. Fullplate armor is severely limited in this case, few armors look like good solid heavy plate (heck you don’t even see plate till 70+).I personally find the flame legion armor rediculous for this game. The lore has the fire come from the person wearing it, not the armor itself, so why does it retain flames when we wear it? We aren’t members of the flame legion, don’t imbue ourselves with fire, thus we shouldn’t be spouting fire.
It’s fine for the legendary weapons…or if they had it, legendary armor. They already have dye that is near legendary.
Abyss/Celestial – the tinting changes as it reflects the colors around it (more noticable on celestial, though abyss really changes with lighting changes better than celestial).
Midnight fire/ice – the tinting shifts based on the lighting. Midnight ice gets this frosted edges when around purple/white light, when in blue light conditions such as frostgorge it looks like ice is covoring your armor in a real thin sheet. Midnight fire shifts from a rust-brown to a brilliant ruby bright depending on the lighting.
There are a few other’s out there that are less rare with equally amazing looks (antique bronze shifts from dull bronze to shiney gold depending on lighting while it is on metal).
This is suppose to be a game of options so why not have special dyes? I’d like neon dyes myself!
Luckily I have 2 sets of armor for my main so I’ll experiment a bit as well!
No complaints about the speed here… It’s another forsaken “challenge” for you to deal with. If risen were to move the speed of traditional zombies, they’d all be as slow as the brutes and ranged classes would be able to wreck them with even less effort than they already do. At most, the faster risen’s (like thralls) speed can be reduced to normal, in which case the brutes should no longer be perma-crippled. I would find it to be quite idiotic for the developers to make the highest leveled zone in the game the easiest to fight in.
@Dandy: Putrifiers = pulling melee zombies, Purifiers = ranged heal zombies. I think you got them a bit confused or you’ll be in for a surprise soon enough :P
I knew it started with a P lol. If I see red coral and an anchor I stay the hell away from them!
Like any mob or area, Orr takes some getting used to. The area, and the mobs, help to fine tune your build and your ability to play. When I first arrived in Orr,I felt much the same way as you. The undead were fast, had a ton of control abilities, and there were a lot of them. The longer I played there, the more counters I found I had for them, the more ways I found to take them down quickly, it increased my spatial awareness (no longer pulled mobs I didn’t intend to) I’ve always thought of Orr as a crucible, more of a help than a hindrance in the long run. Stick with it and you also will overcome.
When I first arrived in Orr with my first 3 toons it was easy as there were plenty of people in the areas to thin out the undead population but ever since FOTM came into play Orr sucks hard! Sometimes I can run right past a Risen goon and he won’t even glance in my direction and other times I’ll be nice and far and he’ll spot me from a mile away! Orr is unpredictable! My one and only solution to this is Ash Legion Spy Kits. Now that I’ve mentioned them they’ll be ninja nerfed soon……
I run a shout build and was wondering what other warriors use for healing other than the signet? I always thought the signet was the best heal but maybe not anymore?
It also makes no sense. They are risen from dead, fairly rotten also. Running at those speeds all their joints would fail in moments and they would fall apart.
But oh well, we have been ‘aneted’ as always.
Magic dude it does wonders on a corpse! But yes I agree they should slow them down a tad bit! Oh and burn all the Risen Purifiers as well as they are the only mob I truly hate in a open world zone.
Oh yea its more fun if you actually listen to the captain as the dialogue and the voiceover are perfect! GO FOR THE FEET CHOMPY!!! lol
I’ve never had a problem with the Dredge. Mining Suits can be annoying yes but just focus on it alone and then when it goes down any mob it spawned will despawn. Risen Purifiers and Graveling Scavengers on the other hand……. now give me the shovel as heads need to be beaten in!
I think the downside with money in GW2, is the fact that it isn’t easy to come by. I mean, sure making money can be easy to some, but just playing the game naturally won’t make you money.
For instance, take other games like WoW for example. By the time you’re level 10, you’ve already made about 10-20g just from playing the game normally. No farming or working the AH to make more money, just regular questing.
But then you got GW2. By the time you are level 10, you have made about 10-20 silver. That’s just from playing the game normally without farming or working the TP. You don’t make a lot of money from just playing the game normally in GW2 as you do in other games.
So naturally, everyone is farming hardcore to make money in this game. And with DR and nerfs to loot drops and such, you need to farm or work the TP to make any decent money. Unlike other games that provide you with plenty of money without having to farm and such. I remember playing these other games to run stuff for gear or just to do them for other things. Never had to farm for money as it was easy to obtain. Now in GW2, I find myself running things just to try to make a few silver, instead of trying to get gear or doing them for fun.
For people who don’t farm constantly or work the TP, money is hard to come by. So naturally, everything we do is to try to earn money.
Agreed^
Diminishing Returns get rid of it. I’m tired of running Dungeons for money and Lodestones as every time I run with a PUG I get the speed demons who can’t wait to finish the dungeon they barely just entered. They skip everything they possibly can including extra money!!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
Let me just farm a mob in the open world so I don’t have to do this anymore so I can just rely on myself from time to time! I want to get my own materials and such but trying to do that is impossible because of DR and crap loot tables. And buying them on the TP is a joke! I want to make Mjolnir and I need 350 Charged Lodestones but have you seen the prices on those puppies?
This is sad as all this looks like is a cheap attempt to force people into the Gem store which I spent money on early on due to me thinking dyes once unlocked where accessible to all characters on an account which wasn’t the case.
Its getting harder to disappoint me Anet but somehow you always prevail in doing so
“Lost shores was such a great patch, right?”
“I agree with the conspiracy theory: it’s about once again lowering loot from large pulls to push people to the cash shop.”
“I will wait for one more patch, and if I see it show the level of customer-neglect i’ve seen in the past two, i’m putting in a refund ticket and packing on my way.”
Right? Lost Shores patch was amazing……..
I’ve had one of the game designers tell me that they want to avoid that perception of being a cash shop game but everytime they talk about the game or release a new update it becomes more of a cash shop game.
I’m definitely in the same boat as you dude. This isn’t the game I was told I was getting in the manifesto
We still have DR, terrible open world loot (No loot at all most of the time :/ ) and the RNG is just stupid. And these are things many players have been complaining about for quite sometime and quite vocally I might add.
BUT no whats getting the nerf bat to the knees? AOE. Because everybody hates and complains about the OPness of AOE they knew we needed it nerfed for our own safety! I saw 30 threads complain about it last wee…….. Oh wait no one complained about AOE….
So no I don’t feel they don’t listen to the player base at all and the live stream didn’t help them at all. Its sad cause I had really high hopes for this game and now its been shot down by Gem store, Magic find and nerf bat flak cannons….
At least I got my $120+ plus worth of time out of it already :/
Who here thinks every enemy should drop something?
I’m not asking for more armor and weapon drops. Just 1 to 3
trophies on each enemy who does not drop mats, armor and weapons.Agreed! I went back to WoW recently cause a friend gave me a WoW Warchest with 30 days of play time so every once in a while I go play and the first thing I noticed is that every mob drops something. I killed mobs and at the least I got a couple of copper and at best a green item.
Why can’t Anet allow their mobs to do the same? The lack of drops and DR make farming ridiculous! I’d like to make Mjolnir but thats wickedly hard right now as I can’t get Charged Cores much less Charged Lodestones to drop. And I don’t play the TP so I’m not crazy rich to go out and buy 350 Lodestones. Anet needs to do something.
I’ve played WoW since release and every mob does NOT drop something. I don’t know where you’ve gotten that idea.
Like I said I just went back and what I noticed was that every mob I killed was dropping at least a couple of copper. Nothing huge but something always dropped for me. Maybe its low level mobs only? But I got that “idea” from playing the game so its not what I thought was happening but what I saw was happening :/

WOW if this is true thats some bullkitten!
Just like the title says. Is it true? A person I know said that if your the party leader then you will ALWAYS get a Ascended Ring? Is there any truth to this?
You want an MMORPG with a good personal story and great character development? Stars Wars the Old Republic is calling you! Guilds Wars 2 Personal Story is anything but….. The Sylvari and their “betrayer” is where I called it quits on the GW2 story mode playing for me..
