Regretting buying this game. It’s Just an exercise in frustration and is nothing like the core game. Tired of trying to solo events since no one else is doing them. Done for the weekend.
I don’t even know what the adventures are for except that they are somehow mysteriously related to mastery points.
I only spent a couple of hours on the first new map. Never saw anybody doing any of the events I ran across and I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to solo them. Hopefully just a megaserver issue, otherwise the new maps will be unplayable.
Thus the need for a manual, Gaile. Would have alleviated a lot of frustration.
I’m in the same boat. No idea how masteries work, how revenant works, how adventures work, or how the new guild halls work. Waiting for others to figure it out and update the wiki since Anet didn’t provide any kind of manual.
Wiki is just data compiled by the players. We have to write our own manual? There’s nothing there about how adventures are related to masteries. I’m not going to spend time learning how to do an adventure if there’s no payoff.
With so many new features such as masteries, adventures, guild halls, and the Revenant, I don’t understand most of the material and how they are related (adventures are somehow related to masteries). Where is the manual that lets us know the basics like how energy works with the Revenant, or how to access masteries like gliding?
I’ve only played in Verdant for a couple of hours, but it just felt like an exercise in frustration with creatures and their new mechanics. I never did complete an event since theey are not soloable and no one else was around.
I know that this is bad timing, but I’m making supplications and pettitions for the return of the Halloween events from the last two years. Those events were so fun and rewarding. They helped me level some mid-range characters. They were as quick or as long as I had time for. They required a little bit of coordination and leadership. They were rewarding (items and experience). They were fun to play!
Please please please bring back your awesome Halloween events!
Can’t wait to see LA decorated up for the winter festival thing soon!
It’s too early to tell if it was a worthwhile purchase. This is my first beta weekend and it’s a huge lewrning curve: new profession options, new enemies, new map. It’s definitely a high-level area and reminds me of Cursed Shore when GW2 was new. Definitely not geared for the average player to run around solo in.
From what I’ve seen, the new profession mechanics still need some work. They’re supposed to high level masteries, but they don’t seem to be better than the current ones, just different, giving you more options.
I didn’t even pkay the Berserker. When I saw that this “specialized” profession’s Elite skill was a headbutt that stuns all involved, it felt so underwhelming that I lost all interest. They should rename that skill “Numbskull”.
Seems kinda silly to pre-purchase with no release date and no details on what makes it worth $50. I’m definitely intrigued by HOT, but only if it’s comparable in size to the original since the price is comparable in size.
I’ll most likely get it sooner or later, but it’s way too early to shuck out $$ with so many unknowns.
I was wondering the same thing. There are only a few of us in my guild and I was wondering about the possibility of banding together with others for the purpose of acquiring a guild hall. It would require a lot of people willing to help out of the goodness of their hearts.
Either that, or I may actually have to join another guild. We’re allowed 5 so that won’t be a problem for me.
Expansions or Campaigns. Either way, it was a great series from beginning to end and I believe we ended up with 8 character slots.
Just curious. Why are we all so sure the base game doesn’t come with one or two character slots? I know the deluxe version comes with an additional slot, but there is a lot we still don,t know about the expansion itself. Lets hold onto our money and our anger until we know what exactly it is that they’re selling.
Either their product is worth the money to us or it isn’t. At this point we don’t know enough to make an informed decision. Either way, I doubt the people who are actually working on building it for us have much of a say in how much their company charges us. The developers do outstanding work and I’m willing to let them convince me it’s worth $50. The core game was certainly worth the $60 I paid for it.
It’s been a day of “rage” on the forums and you folks have been taking a lot of heat. Y’all have a huge fanbase because we know you put out quality products. Everybody is up in arms, but I believe most of it is because there are so many unknowns about HOT still.
I know y’all have to be frustrated after working so hard to make folks happy and all you’ve heard today is grief. This too will pass. As soon as more details come out about HOT and folks see just how big and glorious it is, we’ll buy in to the excitement and to the product you’ve worked so kitten.
Fans are fickle and I admit to having a few questions about the size and scope of HOT, but at the end of the day I am willing to bet you’re going to give is a quality product. Don’t take our grousing to heart. If you have any doubts, just log in and hang out in LA for a while. After almost 3 years it’s still a beautiful and amazing game.
Love you guys!
I am perfectly willing to pay $50 for HOT, but only if Anet can convince me that it’s actually worth that much. There’s still a lot we don’t know about the expansion yet and like many have already said, if they want to charge full price, then we expect a full campaign. That may very well be the case and Anet hasn’t let us know it yet. Time will tell.
Keep in mind though, that I paid $60 for over 20 maps, 8 professions, and 5 character slots so for $50 I expect something at least somewhat comparable. Has Anet said that there are no character slots or are we assuming it based on the pricing models? Hopefully the base game will come with 2+ slots. I guarantee they have big plans for new chapters even after release.
The bottom line is that they have released a price point without convincing us that it’s worthwhile. I’m perfectly willing to either:
1. Be convinced that $50 is a good price for what we get.
2. Hold out until HOT goes on sale for a price I’m willing to pay.
3. Bypass the expansion altogether if it’s just a few maps, a single profession, and some QOL items.
The ball is in Anet’s corner. Let them make the appeal to sell their game to us. We know they can make a good product but there’s still plenty of time to decide if we want to buy the game or not.
