I agree, no dungeon finder please. I’m very happy to hear that Arenanet said they aren’t adding one.
Ive argued that statement, via PvP and WvW experiences.
Very ineffectively. I don’t honestly think that adding a (potentially, massively) unbalanced dueling system to the game would be acceptable by most people. They’ve already stated that the game is not balanced for 1v1 encounters. Two days, maximum, after dueling is added the forums will look something like this…
FIX DUELS
DUELING SUXX
OMG NERF CLASSHERE
OMG BUFF CLASSHERE
GW2 IS UNBALANCED GARBAGE1!!1!one!1!eleven!11
So, then what? If they don’t fix the 1v1 balance, then people will complain until the end of time in the game and on the forums. If they try to fix it, they have to adjust the balance of the entire game. That affects everyone, even the people who don’t duel. The same type of thing happened in WoW when they added arenas to a system that wasn’t balanced for very small pvp encounters.
now hes just trolling the thread just ignore him he has nothing to back his words up
Are you people really that unable or unwilling to scroll up? Fine, here’s a link https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Dueling-System/first#post206266
david you have already said your opinion and it has no real reasoning , you seem to be the only one that doesn’t want dueling in this game do you not want to own your friends in a fight? it’s meant to have fun. stop being a serious sam
I posted my reasoning for it.
why cant you just let us have dueling it’s not like it effects you at all if you dont want to do it then dont its not that big of a deal it hurts no one….
It could potentially have a MASSIVE effect on the balance of the entire game so, yes, it affects me even if I don’t do it.
How MASSIVE exactly and why would it effect you even if you didnt play? everyone has givin a valid point and held their argument. I could see people complaining when they lose, or bragging when they win creating tension, but nothing more. This is inevitable in any game where 2 or more people can compete.
I’ve already mentioned the potential effects. Read a few posts back.
I disagree with all of that.

If the game isn’t balanced 1v1 then people will complain when one class dominates another in duels. That will affect the balance of the entire game… so no.
who cares it’s another way to have fun with friends
So the community will just accept it if they add dueling and it’s incredibly unbalanced? Of course not.

Agreed. I bought a skritt pet from the trading post, saw it do… mostly nothing, not even being able to keep up with me when I ran, sold it back.
No direct trading, please.
They don’t monitor voice chat in DDO, that I am aware of and there is an option in the Options to enable/disable hearing/using voice chat. Not to hard to implement.
Even if I can turn it off, it would still have to be moderated like the text chat in the game. Being able to turn off voice chat doesn’t excuse breaking the rules with it, same as text chat.
Wasn’t really used in WoW, and I can’t imagine how they’d moderate it. Chat logs are available if those need to be reviewed, but would they record all speech? How much space would that take up?
Crafting. Does it feel like they forgot about removing grind?

My only issue with crafting is the annoying little items like vials of blood and claws and such. They’re few and far between and leveling is so quick that you quickly move beyond the area to get enough of a specific type to keep your crafted gear in line with your level.
It seems like playing WoW after playing this game for a while would be almost painful. Not that WoW is bad, but like Cayden said, outdated.
Absolutely not. No inspecting. Completely inappropriate for a game where gear isn’t the main indicator of someone’s skill. And yes, this would be abused. Horribly, horribly abused. If you want to know what gear someone has, ask them. There’s a reason they didn’t include gear inspecting with this game in the first place.
In my opinion, you’re missing the point of inspecting. I am by no means an élitist player and I love inspecting. I like looking at someone’s gear so I can figure out where to get awesome gear like them. I like looking so I can admire it after they’ve run away. I like it because I can look at someone with awesome gear and maybe glean a few insights.
While you’re too busy being the victim I’m enjoying myself. If someone is judging me because of my gear then they’re probably not someone I want to play with.
If you want to admire someone for long periods of time, take a screenshot or three. If you really don’t understand why this would be a terrible idea don’t try and cover it up by making assumptions about me.
Sounds like they should just play another game.
• Inspecting other players.

Current consoles most definitely could not play this game, you overestimate them.
No mounts, please, Arenanet. Don’t want ‘em, don’t need ’em. I like Waypoints just fine.
I don’t understand all the hate you people are bringing down. What is wrong with options? And to address you DavidGX I do not like WOW. Stop hating please.
Everyone who’s played WoW will realize why your idea is terrible.
I played WoW for four years. Got tired of it but loved a dps counter, so again please answer the question as to what is wrong with more options? It is a matter of principle.
DPS meters simply can’t account for everything that’s actually required to play this game well. Perfect gear levels and rotations aren’t how this game works. If you like that kind of thing then you’re free to go back to WoW, install a DPS meter and have fun.
Damage doesn’t have to be the only thing it counts. Boons applied, conditions removed, CCs, interrupts, buffs, healing, revives, you name it. Recount did way more than damage, which you may recall if you spend a second to not blindly hate everything that came about inadvertently due to a Blizzard title.
That last sentence convinced me that you’re just trolling. If you’d like to discuss and not troll, let me know.
Regardless of whether or not he is trolling, he made a good point about the information provided by Recount. There WAS a lot more than just raw dmg/dps.
I ran recount, I’m aware of what information it showed. It would be a terrible thing for this game, though, because this game isn’t all about gear and DPS. I’d rather play the game and focus on what I’m trying to do/kill/not be killed by. Not watching a little window to see who’s rotation isn’t perfect, this isn’t that game. You don’t need an addon to see if you’re doing poorly, or see if someone else is. Not once in a dungeon have I ever wished I had recount. It was always easy to see if I’m or someone else is running into a boss and dying, or not attacking enough, or not ressing, etc.
And those are valid points. Which is one of the reasons I said that a DPS meter should be implemented, but ONLY for personal use; not to rate others, but to only rate yourself.
And my response to your original post about that was “That’s probably the only way something like this would even be remotely acceptable. Good idea, imo.”
What I think might be even better, though, is using dummies. Instead of some little recount style box running all the time just have target dummies report overall damage to you in some way when you stop attacking them for x seconds.

I would support this, one one condition:
It is a personal dps meter. In order to experiment with different builds, it would be nice to see actual DPS numbers for my own character.
note: this will not show dps of other party members or ANY other players.
That’s probably the only way something like this would even be remotely acceptable. Good idea, imo.

Absolutely positively no. I really wish people would stop asking for WoW features, especially terrible ones.
There’s no reason that an inspect feature shouldn’t be implemented at one point.
Only if I get to opt-out.
No. No inspect feature. This game isn’t about gear or gear scores. If you want to know what gear someone has, ask them. This isn’t WoW.
(edited by DavidGX.1723)
Absolutely not. No armory, no inspect.
Why are you so adamant? Why would you deprive others of something they wanted if you did not have to use it or be affected by it? Do you hate kittens?
If there’s no opt-out I AM affected by it. This isn’t WoW, we don’t need everything WoW has. This game isn’t about gear and gear scores. If you want to know what gear someone has, ask them.
Absolutely not. No armory, no inspect.
No mounts, please, ever.
Yeah some kind of way to make keeping track of the mouse pointer easier would be very nice. I’ve lost it a few times in combat.
No. Not needed, don’t want it.
New Feature: Inspecting
Players may now inspect each other’s achievements, equipment, rank and traits in the Heart of the Mists. Inspecting equipment in PvE remains disabled.
Please no, Arenanet. No inspecting. If this is ever added then I at least want an option to block people from inspecting me.
I like the auto-block and auto-delete suggestions. I’ll /second both of those.
I’ll agree with that.
It would be very nice, if only for the multi-threaded rendering that DX11 supports.
That would be cool as hell.
No, please, Arenanet. No arenas. Even Blizzard admitted (but then tried to backtrack on) the fact that introducing them in WoW was a mistake. It creates all kinds of balance problems. Don’t want it, don’t need it.
OMG! Could you people please stop bragging about this, with ONLY the Argument “Oh but even Blizzard admitted it was bad!” ….
What kind of Argument is this? Blizzard are a bunch of fools! They implemented a great Idea just into a wrong System!!!
With NO Gear Grind, NO “Gear2Win”, NO Stupid ArenaTeams, NO Healers, NO “ZOMG” Burst (if you can play), it is a good thing!
In WoW it was THE PvP Endgame… It does not have to be here ,… it can just be as valuable as doing 8v8s …. just for other types of players!
Me for one I love Tournaments, and I hate 8v8 … just sucks sometimes to fight 2v4 or so .. I would like to have competitve 2v2 or 3v3 … If it’s not necessary (like it was in WoW — Best gear you got from Arenas) …. ANYONE who doesn’t like it, SHALL not play it,… Whats the Problem?
The problem, as I already stated, is that it’s a bad idea that even Blizzard admitted was a mistake. It creates too many balance issues. A lot of GuildWars 2 is learning from the mistakes of other games and improving on them. This is a mistake they should not repeat.
As you can see – there is a sea of people that want Arenas real bad. If it was a mistake, people would not want it. Also, WoW is THE most popular/played game EVER in human history, with over 14 million subscribers at one point.
If it was a mistake they’d remove it.
Besides, ANet is in advantage here because they have no gear grind OR dedicated healers. Healers alone made PvP really… Well, let’s just say that some 2v2 matches lasted for 40 minutes.
They’ve admitted it was a mistake and the constant balance issues it has introduced further proves that. No “if” needed. The window for WoW to remove it has long passed, they’re stuck. No reason to repeat that mistake for this game. If you want that kind of experience, go play a game like WoW that has it.
This game isn’t WoW, that’s a GOOD thing, no need to try and turn it into WoW.

I added comparison shots with the SMAA Injector in Skyrim.
I tried in other games too, but injecting it it will also make your chat and any overlay graphics a little more blurry. Also it was impacting worse than FXAA on performances.
I haven’t noticed any negative effects like that in Skyrim, or GuildWars 2 when I tried it in BWE3. Supposedly SMAA now is up to a version that looks far better than what’s possible with the injector, it would have to be implemented directly into the game. I’d love to see it.

One bump and one bump only. Won’t do another one, just wanted to make sure this was seen. Sorry.
