Anyone know the time wintersday patch comes out? I figured it would be out already.
Ive seen a ton of youtube channels doing exactly what you are asking. GW2 loves the publicity. So im pretty sure you can. But perhaps a dev will chime in and let you know for sure.
I’m game as well. If this is still going on.
They have already said after season 1.
My win ratio is around 60% solo que right now in ranked. Sometimes you have to carry your whole team lol. And type what to do etc. So many times ive been 1 pip from a tier and get a bunch of bads and have to restart a tier. It sucks. But it is what it is.
For reference, in Guild Wars 1, you had to win twenty five times consecutively in Random Arenas before giving your random team a chance to fight in Team Arenas. Twenty five consecutive wins, to qualify your pug for Team Arenas. Think about it. They were aware of the great advantage of premade teams, they won’t allow you to fight in Team Arenas until you have proven your worth. And guess what, around half of the time my random team made it to 25 wins, we lose to premade teams. Sometimes we win a round, if we get lucky we win two rounds in Team Arenas.
THERE’S A REASON WHY SYNCING IN RANDOM ARENAS IN GUILD WARS 1 IS A BANNABLE OFFENSE.
Good old Hall Of Heroes pushing. Love Love Loved it. I still hop on gw1 every once in a while to run some halls. I miss the ability to watch high end games anytime. This game needs to implement this.
This is simple. If you separate solo and team Que, Que times would triple. And everyone would complain how their ques are 15 minutes long. And lets be honest. A lot of premades are garbage anyway.
Yea 14 in a row would tank your points
Oh. I thought it just matched you against and with other players as bad as your MMR.
The amount of losses prior to the point drop is key too. If you have been doing more losing than winning that would do it.
Anyone else feel like Anet has very poor communication with their community? I see devs like DE for Warframe that seem interested in what their community says and implements the changes they like. I feel like our suggestions are just ignored most of the time.
Like what? Specifically what suggestions do you mean? That is so vague. If you are referring to PvP balance that is after season one. Which they said. So what more is there to say about it?
It’s a bad system. A time gate is fine if there’s an adventure that comes along with it.
Time Gates are NEVER OK. Its lazy design. Why are you time gating items? To make the game artificially longer. Its poor design. This isn’t a Zynga game! Or is it?
Could be a number of factors. You were on a pip loss break point. They were lower skilled players than you. lower division etc. Or you were just so bad the game had to let you know lol. j/k. But i have gained several pips on losses. I believe what i said above plus personal play has an effect on point loss and gain.
I never understood the whole tanking MMR. Doesn’t that just give you more poop teammates to play with as well as against?
DONT GO on metabattle !
Old builds from the core GW2 are still Meta on this site … plz
Actually it specifies on metabattle if it is a meta or outdated build.
I don’t know about anyone else. But i never get bored of winning.
Winning a tight, hard fought competitive match is indeed much fun, however winning if it is a one sided blowout is boring as hell, unless you are a scrub more concerned with grinding your legendary backpack, than actual good, fun PvP, that is the problem with kittenty matchmaking.
After winning so often you will still hit your wall when you start to pull pro team premades.
I don’t know about anyone else. But i never get bored of winning.
Once they respawn they do. Complete respawn. Not just dead and waiting. I never had any trap last past my respawn.
I played through the PvE/PvP split in Gw1 and I do not think it improved the game at all. PvP did not feel any better (as I recall the first years of the game were closer to ‘e-sports’ than the years after this split), and PvE ended up running away with power creep. Initially, Guild Wars 1 PvE (in my opinion) was balanced around PvP. This is what I think should be sought after. Isn’t PvE more challenging when mobs behave like players (better AI)? And it better prepares players for the crossover into PvP, and vice-versa.
At the moment though, I am not convinced that any attempts have been made to balance the game in either mode for quite some time.
As gw1 PvP player it helped immensely. And you are wrong on one point here. PvP was Balanced around PvE. Hence the split. Not the other way around. In my 7000 hours on gw1 i crossed over into PvE all the time. Even though i came to gw1 for the PvP. I found the underworld and fow farming solo quite engaging. You’ll never get a PvE game where enemies act like players. Thats not going to happen no matter what you do to the skills. Lets be honest here. Thats just an AI issue. But your right. Thier idea of balance is just to make something else broken so you stop complaining about the previous broken meta/mechanic/insert answer here.
Just get your bunker on points first GG. Roll face on keyboard. Repeat. But yea its really dull.
I loved the change in gw1 when they did it. I didn’t find it difficult to adjust to at all. It would be no harder to learn than say…. the new mastery system. I don’t think anyone else was either. I don’t recall many complaints from the players that actually focus on PvP. There are ways to make it easier to see. And most people are just copy pasting builds anyway. Lets be honest.
For players that keep up with developments, and research things, it’s a easy transition. For the vast majority of the playerbase that just cares about logging in and enjoying themselves, it’s a crap system that will come off as arbitrary.
What makes games playable in the first place is the ability for a player to count on something always working a same way. Having spots in the game where otherwise dependable mechanics suddenly change functionality is bad design.
For me they are separate games altogether. When i go to PvE i have to look at wikis etc to figure out whats what. When i first came to tpvp i had to read wikis and look at builds etc. What is the difference. Im not understanding your argument. Your never coming into any game knowing everything. And on most occasions anything. You use skills in PvP you never use in PvE. And vice versa. If you don’t know you cant use a PvE build in SPvP you shouldn’t be there lol. So learning that a skill is different from its PvE counterpart isn’t difficult! Its just not. And if you didn’t look it up you’d figure it out after the first match you’d think. I honestly just don’t understand how that’s a bother at all for anyone. Why would you go into a competitive game type blind. Its just odd to me.
3. They could make a separate Leagues for SoloQ’ers only, an exact copy except for those ESL stages. Just like before we had Solo and Team Arena (Leaderboard).
Which would result in the game being pure soloQ, because there are not enough teams in existence to population a team queue, which leads to long queue times, which invariably results the teams quitting, and thus alienating players that enjoy social PvP.
Well then, it’s up to them to find something about that. Make rewards higher for team-queue etc etc.. Not really hard to solve that issue.
Thats a great idea. Higher reward track/rank points. I would like to see more players forming teams. Like gw1.
I just think its too soon to cry wolf. That’s all.

What Death Aggro said is right but one issue is that with the current system this “self-correcting” time period where everyone is still moving up the ranks and the Divisions haven’t yet stabilized will happen each time a new season starts and everyone is wiped back to Amber because the MMR system is separate from the League system. That’s the true problem.
I considered that also. 7 week seasons seems like just enough time to me though. By week 4-5 most of us will be into the degrading ranks. But maybe not. Maybe the short season really wont allow for competitiveness solo queuing. Maybe it shouldnt. GW2 Spvp is a 5 man game. And perhaps we should have to make our own teams and find others to play with to progress. Now a solo leader board would be cool. Separating team players from solo queurs. Id like to see players using the LFG tool to make teams. In GW1 it was all about the premades. And i had a blast. I think ANET would like to shift us that direction. But that usually invites cheese into the mix. But i feel like we already have the cheese with 2 bunk mes 3 rev comps etc.
3 years after gw1 release they split certain skills into pve and pvp. i dont think it was all of them. just the abused ones. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Game_updates/20080522
I know the engine and code is different now. But surely they had this in mind when making gw2. I mean gw1 pvp was popular. I loved it. Now is the time anet. I like this idea very much. And it has to make things easier on you in the long run right?
till Arenanet fix the broken and very bad designed matchmaking system and till they bring back solo arena. league patch was my last hope….
As of right now MMR is out of whack. Everyone is around emerald. With a few further in of course. The truly good players and some less than desirable way players. But over time it will correct itself. Its still very early. And making Solo Que available again would hurt team ques. I like the idea of not being rolled by premades. But separating ques wouldn’t work. Over time the hype is going to die down again. And on some occasions the players wanting out of these divisions shouldn’t be out of them. Some players are just emerald tier players. And getting your butt pounded will only make you better as an individual. When im solo queuing im not caring about my pip. Im caring if i play well or not. If “I” won the 1v1’s i should have. Was “I” where i needed to be. Did “I” even attempt to talk to my team in the beginning of the match. And there are times i do play my best and outscore both teams etc. And still lose. But i noticed something. This happened today. I lost my first game and lost a pip. Second game Lost. Went to beginning of tier again. After 4 straight losses and scoring highest on my team all four losses i finally won. Gained 2 pips. Next game lost. No pip loss. Won the next game and gained 3 pips. so 5 losses and 2 wins and i gained 5 pips. I am a solo quer myself 90% of the time. But perhaps it will force all of us solo quers to join a spvp guild and make our own premades. Not every premade is a good team. Until you hit the higher divisions. And if you find yourself losing a lot once the bad are separated from the good in the next few weeks, perhaps thats as far as you go. I doubt ill ever get past ruby. B/c my skill isn’t on that level with those players IMO. Just give time for the separation to happen. Grind through it. Get away from them now while you can. If you leave and come back you’ll still be at the bottom of the pile fighting trash Dont be in a hurry though lol. Bc then its 2 bunk mez and 3 rev teams all day in solo. Just saying lol.
looool, top stats means nothing…. You then just had ppl running around for decaps and weird stuff like that. Just a horrible Idea man. :P
You can easily be the sole reason why your team won and played extremely well and have the worst score and no top-stats.
Thats so true.
All of you forgot the worst. Vulnerability stacks.
I think your personal play even in a loss has great affect on pips. I had a victory. Gained a pip. Lost 4 in a row but i scored highest for my team in points and most of the other team for that matter. Lost one pip. Next game i won and gained 2 pips. Won the next game and gained 3 more. So i lost more than i won. But gained more pips. Anyone else have this?
Perhaps Anet should have waited another month on season 1 until the meta revealed its true form. Then balanced accordingly. Then release the season.
Heres what im wondering. Why even implement this? It is completely useless. Everyone in all these threads are spouting its a guaranteed precursor blah blah blah. Heres where your argument becomes dumb. If it costs more to craft and collect than just straight up buy it out of the AH its pointless content. Im not saying it should be free mind you. But the AH should not be cheaper. Especially since you have to do all the collecting. So instead of implementing a 1k precursor craftothon, why not keep it a collection hunt. Make it require actual game content. Send us around to the plentiful events and areas rarely used in game anymore. Require hard/time consuming content. Instead of the same gold grind. I finished the first collection track in 2 days. Saw the mats cost and was angry bc i wasted xp on a useless mastery. I’ll just buy it. Its basically the same thing. Except i dont have to do any of the content i dont like to get it. I just stick to my same gold farming methods and done. Now im not sure if the precursor can be sold once crafted. I am pretty sure you can. Now over time, that would increase the price of precursors on the ah making crafting one the better option. But as it stands now. Do not waste your mastery points on this trash. Unless you really really want to craft one. Well just because. Right now its not worth it. They should have asked for some player feedback on this idea. Or at least gave us their thought process behind this idea. But im kind of curious about the drops of these things anyway. I’ve been playing this game since beta. I have NEVER had a precursor drop. That seems broken. I have waited for this day (the day we could craft precursors) so i wouldn’t have to spend my hard earned gold on it. Turns out, I should have! Everyone has their opinion on this subject. This is just my own. And i for one am extremely let down by this. Had i known i would not have wasted my mastery points on it. So yes, if you think you will get a precursor faster or cheaper than the AH with this new precursor crafting you will be disappointed. It is FAR cheaper just to buy it. Or spend the next 3 years grinding your own mats. Especially if you are more casual with this game bc you have a life( wife, kids, job) as i have. Just buy it from AH.
It only costs more if you choose to buy the time-gated materials directly off the TP rather than craft them all yourself. You sacrifice savings to have them all immediately.
I highly suggest all those who are complaining about the cost to actually do the math themselves if they were to craft everything themselves rather than rely on what someone else said who happens to be incorrect.
Here’s an easy test.
1) Calculate the cost to craft a single deldrimor ingot if you purchased all of the base ingredients at buy order prices.
2) Multiply that cost by the number of ingots you need. I think Zap needs 70.
3) Multiply the cost of the ingots (whichever people cost people are using) from the TP by 70. I’m pretty sure they’re using the sell order price.
4) Subtract the result you got in step 2 out of step 3.
Considering i have been playing since beta…Its not really having them NOW. Its having them after 3+ years. I am going for zap also. I’ve waited 3 years for this. Now i have to wait the time gate? Seems really stupid right? Regardless. I’m not a fan of this. YOU SHOULD NEVER TIME GATE ANYTHING IN A GAME YOU HAD TO PAY FOR! Time gating is just a very very bad attempt to make your game last longer. Its ridiculous. This isnt a facebook game.
I’ve never done PvP I don’t even like the concept of player versus player I hope I’m not tempted into doing it that way, I really really hope I’m not.
You can buy the items that you need from sPvP off the TP.
The above poster suggested PvP for Dungeon Tokens since there aren’t a lot of players running Dungeons anymore, that’s what might tempt me, buying off the TP doesn’t bother me at all.
Its really fast that way. I can have 500 tokens in a few hours. I have thousands in storage actually from running those tracks. Just use a heroic booster for the bonus reward track xp.
The most difficult hurdle now in making any Legendary isn’t the precursor anymore, it’s collecting 500 dungeon tokens from a specific dungeon because NO ONE is running them anymore post nerf.
Pvp reward track the dungeon. Use a heroic booster gg.
I use the mystic salvage kit. And i get tons of ectos still. I made over 100 the last 2 days. Perhaps its just RnGesus messing with you.
Did you ever stop to think that maybe those skills were also too OP for PvE???

I’d like to see some new skins. They are getting tired. Being the same ones for every event over and over. Halloween for example. The best shield skin imo isnt even offered anymore. But the same tired skins for 3 years is ugh. Holidays are important to us. Give us something new! Not the same content i got 3 years ago. Its cool for new players. But us veterans would like something else. But i have a feeling this will be the same as last years wintersday.
Would love to have a link to the winners pics. Scrolling through all these searching stinks.
I would really like to be able to earn mastery points in PvP for use in PvE. At least the precursor and basic things. Do you think this will come in the future?
Thanks abunch Gaile. I lost 22 hrs. So im gonna submit a ticket. Thanks for the help.
Any word yet Gaile?
Thanks Gaile!
Your correct Raj. The first portal in Rata Sum didnt give me a warning about entering. i was immediately ported and when i left my boosters were gone.
I just put up a post about this.
So i was excited to check out what this super adventure box was all about. So i go to Rata Sum And walk into the portal. Im like wow visually i like this. So i run up to a stump and it is an instance. It pops up and asks if i want to go and warns me if i do ill lose any buffs i have. So i back away immediately and decide to leave b/c i just used a birthday booster to lvl up this new toon. When i return outside my birthday bosster is gone! When i entered the initial portal it didnt say going in here will remove your buffs… So i just wasted a birthday booster. 22 hrs of it. Very not cool. So just a heads up to everyone else.
My god Anet. Suppressed messaging for 50 minutes now… Cant lead an event if i cant talk. This needs fixed now.
Now ive champ farmed for 5-6 hrs recently a day just to maybe make some money towards the insanely priced precursor i want. I have All other mats other than the precursor for the last 7 months. Im not making a lot of money doing it. in full MF gear. Its almost all greens from the reward boxes. Crap mostly. I left the game for 5 months or so i think. Due to the nerf bat and constant culling issues. The only reason i log in anymore is to farm towards my precursor thanks to the champ farms. So i guess once thats gone ill lose interest again and come back in another 6 months and see if its better.
This will not kill the market. Gold is still hard to make without grinding for hrs a day. I feel like this MMO is the greediest for making players money. 800g for a PC is insane. Especially for a casual player. Just my insignificant opinion.
So i did a test. everytime i try to go into crown on any toon it crashes.
