Since your too lazy to read anything stickied our on the forum here.
Your kidding me right? Shatter not viable…… go tell Osicat that and see where that discussion leads lol. Shatter is not dead by any means and let alone because we cannot pull instantly with the focus.
Rodgort for LIFEEEE
You can go to the dummies in sPvP or in Lions Arch and test it out, you wont crit on them and you can reset your traits for an even boost in stats with/out your gear. Even better get steady weapons and try it out, giving pure DPS not influenced by gear.
If your numbers are not accurate then this is not their true DPS and your argument is invalid. There is a reason you go Phantasm build in PvE and Dungeons, please come back with real numbers before making claims because so far they are unsubstantiated.
I have a dire build I am testing that is based off of ID and it’s cousin (The one that increase damage) and I didn’t think ID was broken. I am not sure how exactly you would test to see if it is broken. But if it is then that mean a lot of Mesmer builds just got a little bit more defense.
Phantasms deal low DpS. DpS means damage per second and if an iDuellist attacks every 5(?) seconds with 5k it makes him 1k dps wich is about melee GS aa. Only the iWarlock has a good dps against well condition affected enemies. He comes up to 3k DpS.
btt: I like the idea of this, but I would increase the start damage to 120%, then go down by 1% each second. Otherwise fast attackers are weaker and f.ex. iWarden doesn’t give a kitten :P But it’s true in WvW die often die immediately and in PvE you will allways have 2 phantasms and 1 clone ready to replace by the same amount of p and c.
Where are you getting these numbers from? Because let me tell you non of them are accurate. If your going to throw around numbers you better have test to back them up, the only time Phantasms are not viable is in a giant Zerg, because then they truly will be stomped out of existence.
Phantasms weak in PvE….. what? The best PvE builds are Phantasm builds not to mention in WvW Phantasms are only useless in a zerg in roaming and small groups they are just fine.
Sounds like a nerf not a buff.
^^He is right, not sure about the damage not showing up but on the other stuff. Assuming your right though this sucks but at least it works semi-properly unlike before.
From my experience celestial gear is great for Hybrid builds that need multiple stats and benefit from almost all of them. In this current meta it is rare to find a true hybrid, especially among Mesmers. I used a build way back that would have loved having Celestial gear (PU hybrid build using Scepter/torch and Sw/Sw)
I completely agree. At the highest level of game play you should do you best to play optimally(40+ Fractals, gWvW, tPvP, etc) but many people do not seek out this high level play and just want to play the game the way they like. If they use a GS who cares? Yes they do less DPS and all the other problems you could possibly point out but to them it doesn’t matter. If you hate them that much don’t play with casuals then and only play with your “perfect” team with your “perfect” builds.
I would also like to address that I am by no means saying going for highest damage and “optimal” builds is not fun, I for one am always striving to for that in my WvW build. Some players just simply don’t have the time, energy, or maybe even patience to learn the game at this deep of a level, and that’s okay.
I have been playing with PU builds for quite some time and know how to use the stealths. While those sigils are nice they have a 10 second ICD, so you remove a condition once every weapon swap if you crit. Tis is not something you can rely on, this will fail if any decides to stack multiple conditions. Many classes like ours apply more than just 3 conditions, and what do you do when your mantra is on cooldown and your rune already proced? This can and will happen.
Someone who didn’t suggest stupid and unrealistic trait changes? I cannot believe it, but these are all perfect suggestions and pretty much some up the major and minor problem we have. Now if only these would get implemented
Hey as someone who has used this phantasm a lot I can;t speak highly enough of iDisenchanter, if you have Illusionary Elasticity he is even better. Necroes do next to nothing against me since he is only on a 20 second cd (Thats if you don’t have any of the illusion cd reductions.) Try him out, he is a blast.
I understand all your pan, we should definitely have special animations for legendary greatswords. But alas I’m going for Rodgort and I believe this, like all our ideas, will fall on anet’s deaf ears.
Can you please stop making new threads? You actually release good content but you are spamming now and it is just annoying at this point. Sorry to be so blunt but it is the truth just please stick to one thread.
Your builds are bad plane and simple, you try to combine other builds into one and it fails every time. You would see that if you actually tested your builds, I took your build out for a spin just for kicks and lost every duel against anyone with conditions. The ten you take out of Domination and put into Inspiration is absolutely useless, you should put it back into Domination and pick CC. But hey that means you would be using Osicats build and then you couldn’t make a thread and talk out your kitten .
This is getting old, please take some time to actually learn what traits and armor combine well along with how the Mesmer simply works. Not to mention you need a refresher course on basic combat if you think having so little condition clear is a good idea. That Mantra is nice but nowhere near solves your condition problems.
Actually, we should have a remove condition on dodge (10 sec cd) minor trait.
They would NEVER do that since we can generate clones on dodge and can have access to perma-vigor. This will never ever happen
Be using iDisenchanter with IE(Illusionary Elasticity) and it has been awesome actually. It works quite well and reliably removes at least 1 condition and more often than not 2 conditions thanks to IE.
@xsquared
There are a lot of good Confusion builds already out there, many that stack a lot of confusion easily. I know I run Scepter/Torch and Sword/Pistol, easily takes down any enemy including necroes. 20/20/30/0/0
These are great but I am not about to sacrifice Runes of Perplexity for them. I’ll just be slow and suck it up.
Stop renaming your builds. It is getting annoying.
@skcamow
I didn’t know it capped out there. That sucks. I will have to check some other traits out then
Welcome! I kill D/D ele’s like they are nothing so I understand the switch! I would recommend joing [OMFG] which is linked above. It will give you a huge resource of other Mesmers to talk to and have help you. Otherwise look around and get a feel for what the Mesmer has to offer.
Despite not having a build to look at and just looking at the stats listed I would say Yes. But I would like more context before saying for sure.
Hey jportell thanks for the feedback. I haven’t actually had a chance to test my build a lot yet (IRL test) but I like your suggestions. I just want to avoid going 30 in Chaos because I don’t think any of those traits would add a huge amount to my build. However I am still debating going 30 in Dueling just to pick up DE and dropping the 5 in Illusions ,that way I still have massive clone generation.
Also currently using Runes of Perplexity for max confusion output. 163% Confusion duration total with 50% increase to all other conditions.
SO I finally got a full set of this and here are my traits. 0-25-20-0-25, Weird I know but it focuses around applying not only a lot of confusion but also other conditions. As many will notice this build is actually a Condition Shatter build. Weapon wise I run Staff and Scepter/Pistol, and my biggest problem I would say is dealing with conditions but I am working on solving that problem.
I keep changing the trait a lot, especially the second Dueling trait. I cant decide if I want DD or DE, both work very well and I honestly don’t think I need DE with all the clone creating skills available to me along with there short cooldowns. However once I have had a solid week to play around with this I should have a set trait line. My current one is just one I theory crafted.
The torch is very good when traited or you have PU. Otherwise it is really lack luster even with high Condition Damage. When it is traited at least the phantasm will remove conditions along with Prestige and when you have PU Prestige becomes an awesome defensive and offensive tool (With both Prestige really is our best stealth skill IMO) but without either I can’t justify taking it with the phantasm in the current shape it is in. While the confusion is always nice even with such a low amount of it it just doesn’t do the work say an iDuelist or iWarden or iBerserker could do(Among others.) These phantasms just outshine iMage by such a high degree it is sad.
If they do end up buffing him I would say make the attack bounce, prefer enemies, add 5 stacks of confusion, and maybe change the buff it gives(Protection maybe?) Before I conclude though I would like to say this is all my opinion after using the torch for such a long time but that phantasm just doesn’t pull its weight.
I have to say I like this much better than all the threads you made. Don’t get me wrong you make great stuff but kitten are there a lot of threads started by you lol. I will say though as a mainly WvW guy your s/tPvP builds make me actually want to play that game mode (Had no desire to as it is hard to have Mesmers in the Current Meta.) Overall good stuff
Runes of Scavenging may become useful to bunker builds, especially the ones that are bound to come out soon thanks to Dire armor (Once I get a set I will be making a Bunker build too.)
As for the Noble runes I see them having a place on the more support oriented builds, or builds that focus on building might for extra damage. Otherwise there are runes you could argue that do a better job than these.
You may be right, once I am in-game I will try to see where these extra stacks are really coming from. If it is coming just from CI though I will try to screenshot it as proof. I will post back when I know!
I have been playing with these runes since they came out on my 1vX WvW roaming build, which uses the standard 20-20-30-0-0 (Although much different trait choices) with Scepter/Torch and Sword/Pistol. In my time with these runes I have noticed that other attacks we use can actually interrupt causing another 5 stacks of confusion to pop and the skill I notice this the most on, surprisingly, is Confusing Images. It is not uncommon for once or twice per fight (More if it is a 1vX scenario) which means that CI has a chance (And has for me) applied 10+ confusion stacks from interrupts.
I am not sure how or why it does but I have seen time and time again when I use CI a random 5 stacks pop up while it is still channeling. This happens much more rarely on other skills (twice on Illusionary Counter aswell as others) no idea how intentional this is but even discounting these I still interrupt more than enough to make use of the 6/6 ability.
Real life takes priority over a game always. Do what you need to do and all of us will have interesting builds and ideas once you ready to fully commit again. You have my sincerest condolences.
Maybe some day, and I am definitely going to try do make one. The main problem with Dire armor though is without precision we cannot reliably dish out bleeds (through Sharper Images) however this dos not mean a Tank/Interrupt oriented Mesmer couldn’t do well. We will just have to see.
@Phloww You have some good stuff there man, my only recommendation is that having a Ringbearer variant without a torch seems counter-productive in a condition build. Otherwise I look forward to seeing Flowing Images take full form, it has a lot of interesting choices, but looks killer.
@Chaos – I will try to take it for a spin a little this week and I will post here with results. I do however have some IRL test coming up so my testing may be slow.
I think this armor set will make a lot more Condition Bunker builds appear, centering around staff for conditions. I am going to get a set as soon as I can and test it with glamour builds and such. The downside is that a lot of condition builds rely on Sharper Images and giving up Precision is suicide.
Your right I missed some information in there, to clarify I do use this build primarily to roam WvW and I already have a staff and focus handy for when I decide to group up. Also 20-20-30-0-0 is correct and as to it being a variation of Osicats build your right, we both use the same traits and such but 20-20-30-0-0 has been a staple Condition trait line for quite some time.
Now I do not do a lot of PvE with my confusion oriented build being much weaker there, but your trait suggestions sound like it would work well.
The other major style of play I do is gWvW. When I do gWvW I change to a Glamour focused build, I am still testing it heavily though and with the announcement of the Dire armor set I can’t wait to test it more.
Alright to set the tone off I would like to say as a fellow Tester that I specialize in condition builds. I am constantly tweaking mine and trying a wide variety of things to max out Condition Damage. Right now I am testing out the full extent of the Runes of Perplexity and there confusion applying ability.
Right now my build is kitten.
Rabid Armor
Giver Weapons
Runes of Perplexity
2 Sigils of Doom, 1 Sigil of Accuracy, 1 Sigil of Corruption
Scepter/Torch, Sword/Pistol
20 (V, IX) – 20 (II, X) – 30 (V, VIII, XII)
Blink, Decoy, Mantra of Distraction
Food is required pretty much required. Rare Veggie pizza is what we need.
So far this build hits like a truck and keeps confusion at a constant 10+ stacks. Along with 100% poison uptime, and constant bleeds.
20/20/30 Scepter/torch Sword/pistol
Rabid Gear with Runes of Perplexity
Giver Weapons With 2 Sigils of Doom, Sigil of accuracy, Sigil of Corruption
I run this and win almost all of my fights. It has Good condition Clearing and high stacks of multiple conditions for a long time. Conditions are at +100% while Confusion sits at a nice +130%
EDIT: Forgot to Mention that eating Rare Veggie Pizza is a must if you want o really hit like a Truck.
For Utilities I always take Blink and Decoy but I change up the third slot a alot. Signet of Domination, Mantra of Distraction, Veil, and Arcane Thievery are my favorites though.

This is an awesome idea
IGN: Medivh Mirrorheart
Home Server: Yaks Bend
Role: Tester/teacher (Whichever we need more of)
Build: Constantly testing and changing my Condition Build. It is currently Confusion focused.
Time: Mostly past 6 as I have classes but I do sneak in if I have enough time between them.
Like I said above I am constantly tweaking and changing my Condition build as new patches and items are released. Right now it is centered around confusion but that is far from it’s sole mechanic with 100% Condition duration. I would be happy to teach others as I have 4 other sets of gear and weapons( I tried a lot of builds out before loving condition) so I could easily change build in such, or if you still need more testers I could easily do that as I do it all the time anyway.
@Juno – With 100% condition duration I decided to put Sigils of Doom on my weapons making the poison last a full 10 seconds, with weapon swaps that is almost 100% poison uptime. Although I will say that I would never have noticed that without reading another one of the Condition Mesmer guides on here.
@osicat – Hey a fellow condition mesmer here. I use a very similar build to yours(exact same traits) and have been for awhile. However a long time ago I switched all my Rabid weapons for Givers. Doing this gets you to that beautiful 100% Condition Duration, and really makes your conditions hit much hard than extra Condition Damage, and with the new runes confusion hits like a truck.
Wasn’t sure if you had thought of this before or tried it. It works like a charm with my condition build and allows me to maintain Confusion, Bleed, and Poison up 100% of the time.
I have played around a lot with so many different Mesmer builds. I’ve played support(Chaos Maestro build), Phantasm, Shatter (Osicat), and all kinds of Hybrid builds. But now I am playing a condition build and loving it, so these are my top 5 traits after playing all these builds.
5. Illusionary Persona- I like this trait a lot and it is absolutely core in chatter builds. That said I personally don’t like it that much but that is just because I like staying away from the enemy unless stealthed.
4. Wardens Feedback- Makes the Focus shine brighter than it already does, not to mention the reflect is great when running with a zerg in WvW. Just can’t say enough good about this trait.
3. Chaotic Dampening- Great trait that makes anyone wielding the staff a staff a much harder target to kill. Having all these skills on a lower cooldown allows you to spam clones, conditions, boons, and damage. Also overlooked here is that it reduces your Trident cooldowns aswell, so if your a condition Mesmer your trident now hits like a truck, even if your not though 5 is useful for catching people running and 2 is still a blind.
2. Deceptive Evasion- A must have on everyone except a Phantasm Mesmer. This skill is great, instant clone production on whatever weapon you have. So if you have a staff you’ll get more conditions, or a group of swordsmen and wipe every boon on a guardian in seconds. Clone production is a key in most builds due to how many traits benefit from having lots of clones out, so this trait takes maximum advantage of every single one of these traits.
1. Prismatic Understanding- This is definitely a bias pick but I can’t live without prismatic understanding, with this trait you’ll always proc regen, protection, and aegis, not to mention the extra stealth length. One thing to note here is that whenever you proc regen you will proc protection(most of the time due to cooldown) because of the minor traits you pick up in Chaos.
Medivh Mirrorheart – Took the first name from a powerful wizard in WoW. The last name his Noble Familys name, which has a long tradition in training Mesmers.
7/10 “Deathbolt” feels a little to cliche
Hey Osicat I saw that sometimes in your vids you sue the 3rd and 4th shatters when you don’t have any clones out. Why exactly do you do this and when do you decide you need to use this to just proc the effect on yourself?
Could someone link a good glamour build for WvW? I mostly roam in WvW(Running a nice Sc/T and S/S) but need to find a build that is useful for running zergs with my Guild. I pretty much figured out the the traits should be 20/0/0/20/30 picking up anything with glamour in it but the rest of the major traits are a mystery as well as gear and weapons.
If your not running focus then it is almost mandatory that you have to run Runes of Air or Centaur. I agree with you that it is stupid that Mesmers have to function this way, especially for those of us that do not like to run the focus. I hope that anet will fix this with some of the new weapons or skills they will be releasing. Heres hoping to a swiftness ethereal field!
Don’t touch my blocks man.
