I love it and I never thought of going all the way up SM just to abuse this, but it would be easy stacks of Corruption. My favorite thing to do with the focus is when I am running with a zerg to use it the same way you did, just on walls of towers and keeps instead. If you place the curtain on the edge of a wall while a zerg is charging towards you, you can pull a few off the wall and out of the fight. Once I got the Commander and it was utter chaos for the enemy team as half jumped off following her while hte rest continued to charge.
I have been doing GvG since I got my Mesmer to 80, which is my only 80 class. So about 3-4 months now.
Hey Ansau I just read that and tbh I usually place it right at the feet of the charging zerg so I see it hit a few of them but I was just assuming whoever would walk through would get the effect, but that is something that needs to be tested now that I have read the wiki page.
Concerning your builds I would most likely switch over to the traits of the first one if Dazzling glamours doesn’t work how I thought it did but I don’t recommend shattering unless the boon ripping wipes off Retaliation before it triggers.

*I find myself going a Glamour build more often then not. But since they guted BB I usually don’t take it and just run with Dazzling Glamours and Confusion enchantments. I used a lot for my veils and portals and often switch skills off my utilities bar when I need different skills. Here is the basics of the build

*Usually around 25v25 but it depends of course on what time it is.
*My guild has an unusually large amount of Mesmers so we have about 4-5 at any point in GvG. However they do not run the same build I do even though I have tried to convince them to. They run bunker builds but still provide portals and veils and such, just without the added benefits.
*Anything with a reflect, traited focus and feedback. These destroy zergs like no tomorrow and not to mention if your fighting on a wall you can weaken a zerg by pulling some members off. I take Medics Feedback solely for the free feedback bubbles and that skill is wonderful in GvG. The blinds created by the glamour fields are really nice when the enemy is charging you. But down a veil in front of THEM and watch as all there initial attacks miss.
*Be as tanky as you can. I used to just run Rabid with this glamour build but since Dire came out I never do that anymore. The extra life and armor are life savers in large engagements especially when your being asked to portal and veil constantly. Your used a lot for your utility but never be afraid to think outside the box. For instance you could place both your portals at the gate of a tower and as everyone runes in they will get blinded and confused, which is handy. Our greatest skill in WvW is what YOU bring to the fight not the skills you have on your utility bar.

So I theory crafted a build taking advantage of all the blinds we have (Except for the blind that could be triggered by Chaos armor) I didn’t put gear on it because I was just trying to go for maximum blinds along with BB. But it doesn’t look that bad

So I will be posting a build relatively soon that uses Dire armor, after testing with it I realized that Traveler runes are great but I didn’t get as much as I wanted except OOC mobility. However I was not trying to balance support with damage I was and still am going for high damage output, I could easily see a build however combine Traveler runes with Dire armor if it was focused in this way. With Traveler runes and 30 in Chaos you are at 45% Boon duration with 50& condition duration if you eat Rare veggie Pizza, which is are both good numbers to be sitting at if a balance of support and damage is the goal.
EDIT: Don’t worry about bumping an old thread, it is better than the tons of Perplexity discussions we have going on right now.
I personally don’t think they are worth it at all as most other rune sets add a much greater advantage than just +25% movement speed.
I tried switching to Traveler runes on a PU Dire build I am working on and loved the speed, but everything else add so poorly (Except for the duration increases) that I switched back to Scavenger runes within the same day. I honestly just suck it up now. I can get away from most fights I can’t win by abusing terrain and chaining my stealth’s together.
TLDR: I just suck it up since I can win most duels anyway or get away with our in-combat mobility .
+1 to the Blackwater build, it has become a true staple build and there is a reason why
+1 to Evasive Signets, I can’t believe we have a viable signet build, I never would have guessed it but this is awesome.
I recommend we start linking the “Know your skills” post for each skill. I personally think it is a great concept since we have so many people here who have a lot of different play styles and skill preferences.

Honestly an ICD on the 6th part wouldn’t hurt us too bad, except for builds that are solely using interrupts like Engineers and Thieves are. TBH I would welcome an ICD on the 6th part.
Wow, way to just bash on the scepter. The “not-as-good” main hand? Now that isn’t even close to true to evaluating its abilities. DPS is both physical and condition damage, so DPS wise it matches the sword just by a different means. When it comes to defensive capabilities, compared to the swords 2.5 secs of evade, it is weaker but it provides a block that not only negates the damage but inflicts a condition. Mobility wise you are right, the sword is better but with how buggy iLeap is you could argue that point as well.

This guide does have a lot of information from the wiki but the wiki doesn’t teach you any of the unique uses for a skill which is incredibly important because almost all of the Mesmer skills have multiple ways to use them. It takes a lot of raw data, some of which was learned by players on the forums and not from the wiki, and outputs it into a concise guide (as concise as you can be with a class like ours.)
Still demanding a Video, otherwise I am still going to consider your build bad as it isn’t really going for a hybrid feel.

Yeah I run Menders Purity and iDisenchanter with IE so conditions are nothing to me as well. I love spawning two iDisenchaters in a fight with a necro and just laughing, with those Perplexity Warriors and Engineers it is the same thing, they can’t do anything worth while because they are so focused on 1 single mechanic.
Yeah he could honestly be doing a lot more damage if he went the normal condition route rather than focusing on Confusion. Personally I have a lot more trouble with Engies who constantly throw out grenades that apply conditions than I do with Confusion Engies.
I’m saying because they picked such a specific rune set that they have to pick skills revolving around it. A Confusion Engie build is different then a Condition Engi build because of the mechanics they focus on.
I will have to say as someone who does a lot of Roaming I have encountered 3 classes that try to abuse the Perplexity runes as much as they can and they are Thief(P/P), Engineer, and Warrior. However I find that all 3 are rather easy to kill with very minimal problems if any at all simple because of these runes they don’t have access to nearly as many conditions and therefore the confusion can be cleared almost immediately. This assumes you have proper condition clearing but if you do I don’t see a problem with these runes.

PVT gear will go a long way as you level up. I leveled up by maxing Chaos and Inspiration and using staff/greatsword.
What gear would you say is best with this? I have full sets of pwr/pre/crit, vit/tough/cond and pwr/tough/vit. Any of these good or is there something even better?
This a good build for me to take into fractals? Just starting there finally.

When I run gWvW I use Chaos’s build and I usually run Clerics armor as it beefs up your heals to maximum levels. But that is just personal preference
Well in a 1vX situation that’s a good way to get 3 sword clones on one target right away, especially if your packing sharper images. That guy is going to be running once they all focus on him.
I am working on a Hybrid build that employs Celestial Armor + Traveller runes and TBH I love the traveller runes. They can replace almost all rune sets most builds use(Exceptions here and there of course) and see a minimal drop in effectiveness.
Wow attacking my ability to get gear as an argument? You sure will get far here menace, now to your points I didn’t say kitten about it being unviable once you changed it the first time to incorporate scepter. Secondly DPS includes condition damage and direct damage so please learn what the hell you are even talking about not to mention the damage numbers you put out don’t equal your stats so once more I am going to have to ask for a video.

I agree with Gozzo you didn’t do anything to improve it and originally when you had the sword you actually made it WORSE. Now it is just another PU Condition build, if a PU Condition build is a cheese pizza then this build is a pepperoni pizza. Very little actual difference.
There are multiple builds that are considered good on the forums
1. You do not have to be in sight of a portal for it to work. Therefore you can place a portal on multiple levels or through walls. If you want to teleport people in you must first be inside the fort place a portal and jump out and place it again. It is not that difficult to grasp.
2. There is and if you actually read anything posted here you would see a build list stickied to the top. I am not going to point out builds because I already did that today, just read and learn.

Assassins is just bad compared to Berserkers tbh.
Here are some tips that helped me while leveling my Mesmer.
1.) PVT gear will go a long ways while leveling( Power/Toughness/Vitality)
2.) The build guide you’re using is pretty spot on. It is the one I used actually
3.) Conditions are absolute kitten in PvE
4.) Dodging is the best defense anyone has in PvE
Hope that helps a little bit but don’t get discouraged if even with these tips it is hard. Leveling is one of the reasons not many people like Mesmers, it is just really hard if not the hardest around (IMO)

Well PU Builds counter high condition removal by just the sheer amount of conditions you can apply. Countering other PU Mesmers is just an exercise in skill with this build. but if you want more examples of what an actual hybrid build looks like here is one that I ran when I first got to 80.

The goal of a hybrid build is to do both Condition damage and Power damage, making it hard to counter the damage being delivered.. Before I switched over to condition builds I was actually in the process of crafting celestial armor because me and a few others had theorized it would be the perfect Hybrid armor.
Conditions in PvE are a nightmare, especially confusion. The NPC’s just don’t proc it very often.
You wouldn’t be the first menace. So many others have built a hybrid class before. Like all of us keep on saying your build is NOTHING NEW, we have seem these traits run in a variety of other builds. At this point your build is Just Osicats condition build honestly, which doesn’t need another thread for it.
Not to mention this isn’t even close to a “Hybrid” build, I think you need to go look up what the hell that means because this isn’t even close. Most Hybrid builds run Power as their main stat with either Toughness or Vitality as a secondary, and the third slot can be anything but is usually precision(Knights armor for instance.)
So to sum it up your build is just a variation of the standard 20-20-30-0-0 PU condition build with different runes and sigils, which doesn’t exactly help you to much compared to the other popular choices. Please stop this as a plea from the Mesmer community stop re-hashing old builds, we have had enough. Please come back when you have an original idea for a build, and while I realize no one has a monopoly on anything here this build has been around for months.
I want a video, otherwise your build isn’t optimal for a Condition build and lacks the punch other builds have. I don’t believe any of your fighting figures without it, the math doesn’t add up.
Your WvW build will not stand to the better condition builds out there. The sword clones do not outshine or even replace the scepter here, if this was a hybrid build it wouldn’t matter but since this is a condition focused build you lose so much because of it.
Once YOU become and experienced player you will learn the tricks to easily land scepter blocks and confusing images. I have fought so many different classes I know which attacks are easiest to land blocks against and lets be honest they eventually have to attack you so just time your block in the middle of there burst against you or against an auto-attack.
Why don’t you have scepter? That is the best condition weapon we have with acess to torrent and confusion. It is absolutely ludicrous to have a condition build without the quintessential condition-applying item.
That one is the best unless they unleash some sort of phantasm nerf.
