Just did 300K in Straits of Devastation
Was a bomb on the ground. Tried to hit a Moa but hit a little bug
3 achievements in one go.
I am a human visiting Asura’s home instance
If I try wondering of the path, trying to see if I can reach any hidden places, I get instantly killed as if I would fall from a big height., even if I fall just a little bit, to a place from which I would normally be able to jump back to the place I was before.
This also damages my armor.
Is this normal?
I am “ashamed” and afraid to pull out by bear pet because I might be reported as a bot.
Really, whenever I see two rangers running together I instantly think: “Look, bots again”
I never saw a bot naming his pet so naming your pet might be a good idea against false positive reports
Someone suggested that the name of the pets take too much space
I laughed at first, but given the worst situation, just a pet name in a text file takes 4 KB.
Let’s say there are 1 million Rangers. We have roughly 4 GB for one pet over all player base.
Naming all pets (let’s say 20) will take up to 80 GB.
But then again, I hope Anet is not using plain text files to store the name of the pets
(edited by Deepcuts.9740)
I would very much like ANet to take out SB completely from the game, BUT give us the option to talk to our enemies, maybe we can talk ourselves out of battles and dangerous encounters, or at least get our enemies bored to death, just by talking to them.
Of course, the 40 min..ms sorry cast time can be kept as it is. It is not like we can talk that fast anyway.
ravnhood, I hope you will feel the same way when you start doing WvW and see teleporting pla…bots.
Because they will not effect your game play whatsoever.
I think it would be a good idea
Amnon, I do understand what you are saying. And partially you are right from a programmer’s point of view. But…
Judging by what you said, I propose police should wait and do nothing until at least 1000 people get murdered, in front of the police station, so they can put together a program that somehow predicts what kind of people kill other people.
ONLY after that, they will do something about it.
And the examples can continue…
I am not saying it is easy to catch bots, but doing nothing for so long?
Don’t you just love how fast many topics get deleted because they are against “forums policies” but bots and gold sellers (to name a few of GW problems) are not getting banned/dealt with for weeks?
I wish the forum moderators that are so fast in closing topics would actually works as some kind of game masters and “close” bots and gold sellers also
No one would create such topics anymore. Problem solved for everyone.
Everyone has the right to his/her opinion. True.
But what I do not understand is the people who keep on saying: you payed once, but you do not have to pay every month.
What?
When you buy your new car, you pay once and then no monthly fees for it. Not taking into consideration gas, consumable and insurance.
If your dealer would have sold you a defective car…would you still be ok with that?
I bet my virtual pet’s life that you would go and sue them.
But…on forums everyone can talk non-sense.
Yet another bot in action: http://youtu.be/6KgFvM6KKzA
Had 2 crashes.
1st=no idea why
2nd=sound glitch that froze the client.
BUT, I had never ever experienced any kind of disconnects.
I do not say the game client is perfect, but disconnections are not one of it’s weak parts.
Anything can happen, but a non functional modem for more than one hour…I hardly can blame the game client.

Did you had e-mail authorization?
If your e-mail account was “hacked” first, it is not nice to say that GW account was hacked, but merely accessed with the right password.

Angelus dear, what have you been eating lately? You have a GTX590 and want more?
You eyes can’t even make the dif. between one GTX and two GTX. in ANY game.
Stop looking at benchmarks and numbers and start having FUN.
And…stop trolling about engines you do not know.
Who the kitty cat watches a GW2 “stream”?
What is the reason of watching someone else play?
I do not get it
Who invented the term “e-sport”? That is hilarious
This generation forgot what sport means it seems.
“- Hey, I have a heart condition. I think I will die”
“- Why?”
“- My heart can’t cope with my body weight…although I am doing e-sports. Must be the food….”
Please, do keep this civilized.
I asked some questions because I really DO want to hear other’s opinion.
Leave your bad attitude and language somewhere else and discuss on topic please.
Anyone read my post?
I guess the only fault Anet has is allowing players to get to level 80 so fast.
What were you thinking? In one month? Even a lot less for some.
Hello there fellow Guild Wars players.
I would like to start by saying I am not anymore an avid MMORPG player as I used to be, so I might have a “weird” approach on how a MMORPG should be.
In the past, not so long ago, I have played a Sci-Fi MMORPG for almost 5 years.
It had a subscription but I still played it. It had many problems, as all games do, but I played it for 5 years.
Would still play it, but it seems the developers give no kitty cat about it.
So, one of the questions comes:
How long do you see yourself playing Guild Wars 2?
I am looking forward for a title that can hold itself together for a long time.
I hope Guild Wars 2 can be that title.
Please do not take temporarily problems into consideration. Most will smooth out.
Also, do you think better and faster rewards are welcome?
I do not think better and faster rewards help with longevity of a game, specially a MMORPG game.
Why?
I think if you get all the best gear, all the money you need and all dungeons and events done FAST, you will loose interest in the same way; FAST.
I know getting rewarded for your efforts is nice and makes you feel good about your 30 minutes run into a dungeon, but does it really help in the long run?
I remember in the title I mentioned earlier, we did raids 2-3 times a week for the “world boss”.
We all knew chances for success are slim and chances for good gear even less slim, but we still did it because of the fun it was raiding with almost one hundred players at a time.
And even if good loot dropped, we knew we had to do a lot more runs, during many months for a chance to actually GET the loot for ourselves.
And we DIDN’T mind.
Now I see most players want instant rewards, fast leveling and fast coins.
I see this as a deal breaker, as all those who get their wish will soon get bored to death.
I mean, once you have everything you need, what is the thing that will still drive you to play?
I also see players that complain about how hard some instances/dungeons are.
I also felt a bit, well sorry about myself when I saw the dungeon changes, but when I think of it a bit, I realize that: WAIT! The darn game has been out not even one month and I want to play and succeed in some of the hardest areas of the world?
It does not seem right for me.
If developers allow everyone to complete everything in just one month, I really do NOT see a bright future for ANY game.
I bought the game to have fun and not to finish it in one month for…bragging rights.
In the end of course, I would like to be able to finish high end scary dungeons with decent ease, but most certainly NOT in one month after the game has been released.
What is your approach on this?
conquista, I asked the same.
No real reply yet
Just bragging right I guess
Cal me noob maybe, but I keep reading about tokens.
What are they?
I am only level 59, maybe they pop up at 80?
I finished 3 dungeons several times and seen no such thing as a token.
Well put. Healing sukz b@lz big time.
I mean if you do not get hit anymore, yes, you get a bit of your HP back.
BUT, if you get hit, the amount of healing is just…read the first line
Mesket, please do post a video of your mighty team doing a dungeon.
I guess no deaths and low repair costs, because you are awesome.
Or kitten, because I do not believe trolls like you.
If you do, by all means, I will forever kitten myself on this forum.
To all that have problems with money.
Read my lips: GEMS
Yeap, someone has to buy gems
If everyone is rich in game coins…who buys with real money?
Just my point of view. Not that I like it.
Reikou, you are saying that you can complete any Dungeon without death?
If so, please, troll somewhere else.
If you are NOT saying that, you did not read OP post, so troll somewhere else again
I love a good challenge, but really?
I just did a CM run with 3 80s 1 74 and me, 59
Everyone got one shoot killed multiple times.
May I remind you that CM is a level 30 Dungeon?
Why bother putting a level tag on a Dungeon if level 80 players get killed like rats?
This is not normal/hard difficulty, but plain stupidity from ANet.
Don’t get me started with rewards. YUK.
Do they really think all the player base will buy gems with real money?
Because that is the only explanation I have for making things so unrewarding.

Also some item’s description have html code tags in their names as & and such
Same here.
Left the game running with this sound for a while and it crashed completely.
Impossible?
It is a program behind it, not a human operator.
Same here, but with the 3% critical chance.
Feels a lot like a beta still.
Same problem here also.
It gets pretty annoying at times.
The mob is right in front of you and somehow, your arrows are getting obstructed?
Or out of range when u stand still and the mob comes at you?
Pretty darn problematic.
Would love a fix from ANet

I would be ashamed of myself to say I have a GTX680 and problems. Really.
Gasian, I know how you feel.
I started my “gaming experience” on a 486 with 4 MB of RAM.
Was a real challenge to run 1st DOOM on it. Lots of tweaks to do it.
But then again, they do specify minimum system requirements, don’t they?
And they do specify:
Note: Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.
So it is not only us that advise on upgrade. As you can see, ANet specifies that also.
Wish you good luck money wise to be able to get a new system.
It seems it does nothing.
For me, even -perf is not doing anything
Gasian’s post went puf No clue why.
Gareson, I do understand your frustration, but ever considered they might be right?
For some, “several days ago” meant clean computer and decent temperatures.
Maybe today, they got a virus hammering their CPU at 100% and the temperatures went up to 40 degs..
I sincerely never had any problems with GW2 performance wise.
And I just did an event with I think 50-70 NPCs and players toghether. Not a single problem
Gasian, quad quad, but make it a new series quad, not 6000 series
Otherwise, yes, you will get low FPS

If for many players the game runs smoothly, my idea is that your computer needs upgrading or your windows cleaned/re-installed.
I DO NOT state the game can’t be tweaked for even better performance, but it is OK as it is.
Just wanted to add that if I stay still or afk for a bit and start to move, the game will be a bit slow while it reloads? graphics, for 1-3 seconds
Alpha, all stock settings.
I am not an OCer
Must be the good cooling I have.
Just tested in game for my configuration (I7 2600K, GTX 580 and 16 GB RAM 1.600 Ghz)
Standing still anywhere = 110 FPS max (min 100)
Turning 360 degrees = 96 FPS max (min 68)
With lots of players,NPCs around = 80 FPS max (min 58)
All settings maxed.
Indeed, first time when I load the game or map, FPS drops to 7 FPS for couple of seconds (1-3) while it “loads” or something, but after that, no problems.
It is not the high Ghz and Core2 Duo name here but how the CPU uses that power.
The E8XXX series were good CPUs for their time. But that was long time ago, sorry to say.
I do believe that the game can be tweaked to work better on older CPUs and GPUs, but most likely, you will solve this by getting some upgrades.
I know money does not grow on trees, believe me, but if you want nice graphics at high settings….you can’t have both cheap and fast.
Thank you.
The phrase “The four-digit code does not appear in the game itself unless another player chooses the same name” miss lead me it seems.
Hello.
I am posting this here, because it seems posting it to Tech problems got my post locked?!?
In all my MMORPG and such games, I have used mostly my nickname, Deepcuts.
When I linked my GW1 account with GW2 account, the message stated:
“Your display name is a unique account identifier that consists of a name and a randomly generated four-digit code. You’ll use it on the Forums, and in Guild Wars 2 after launch. The name and four-digit code will be your handle on the Forums. The four-digit code does not appear in the game itself unless another player chooses the same name, in which case both your name and the four-digit code will appear.”
As far as I can see, if a user has my nickname already, I can still use it but a four digit code will be added to my in-game name.
Am I missing something? Because the game client tells me I cannot chose the nickname, because it is already being used.
Why only 1333 Mhz for RAM?

I sincerely do not understand how you have such problems.
I do not say you do NOT, but I only had a crash once (1) since start.
The game runs smooth, no nasty problems.
Of course, sometimes the trading acts funny, but that is all.
People, with a decent computer you do not have problems.
Fix your problems than start pointing fingers.
So, they buy the game, spam their “service” of selling gold and hope they get enough suckers to buy their gold that even if they get banned, they afford to buy another copy of GW2?
Otherwise I do not see the point.
Or they can just chat without being in game?
I ask because as soon as they send the chat, they are offline. Maybe never online?
Hope it will not become a pay to win game.
I do not want to become VERY RICH.
But, do not take away to opportunity to be JUST a DECENT citizen.
I do love the ANet decision about level caps in low level areas.
BUT: I would love to see it like this:
On the map it is shown the level for the area.
For the starter area is: 1-17
So, if you are level 80, I think you should scale down to level 17 not level 3.
Just my point of view.
