-I have 5 necros and plan to make more
-The only none necro i have at 80 is a thief, full ascended gear including infusions. I don’t know how to play a thief
-Im still hoarding the keys from the tower of nightmares. I dont know why
-I use to hate guys that play female characters… I have several female characters now
-When a guild mate died in a guild mission I danced on his corpse because he said “yolo” instead of rezing him
-I’v never owned zerker gear and don’t ever plan to
-I own twin incinerators. Only one character uses the skin because other skins match the outfits there in.
I have 18 Characters and 4 of them was under the NPE rules .. never again il will level a toon under the NPE it was horrible and frustrating .
I have 1 level 20 scroll , 60 tomes , 360 skill points and 46 gold exclusively reserved for my Revenant. Insta lvl 80 with all skill and traits. All future toons will receive the same treatment.
Are you waiting for the class to be revealed before crafting your gear? if so Im kind of curious what gear you’ll end up crafting for it?
I think dungeons will be a thing. But I’m not to sure they will be like what we currently have. Remember they keep talking about challenging group content and hired a raid designer. Might end up as a guild locked “instance” were any number of players in your guild/alliance can come in.
if they block that ill just level it up with crafting… if they stop that ill go to eotm. itll just be needless leveling that i can skip and will skip so. what the poin tof blocking it
Mary Sue confirmed as the specialization for rev.
joke :P
I thought we were just channelling legends. No time frame involved. Sure the two that are revealed are from gw1 but theres no stopping them from added scarlet, someone from before the first time (that we know) the dragons awoke or even the future. Or for that matter someone from the alternative time line in the asura story.
If we could vote on that legends we could have out of a list i would vote for scarlet. Unless there was a really good alternative. Just remember the legends need not be good.
I believe there was mention of better infusions available when you get further along the fractals mastery track. so there is still a “grind” for that +1. A few years back someone data mined out infusions with +7 to stats instead of the current +4 and +5.
May fav part about his patch with be the chose between +50 % crit chance and waste a trait point on pretending we have stability
We need out old UI back. The only reason it was removed was because they could not figure out how to show us what boons and conditions we had. In reality the death shroud UI was just a recoloured down state UI. And we still cant seen boons and conditions in that.
But no the ops argument is kind of bad in that imagine how other classes feel. we are all in the same boat. ele has effectively 4 weapon sets. All transforms hide your skills. Eni if built that way will have hes weapon set hidden by every single heal, utility and elite skill.
I think most of us have learned to deal with it and play around it. Its not something unique to the necro. But as for what weapon set you had on? I can see my weapons on my char when im in death shroud.
Also to note is runes of the mad king. With your elite you can get a heal with about same power as your healing skill with added damage
I’d like to point out there mention of a lack of water in HoT areas… Seeing that I think it would be a mistake to at it in this expansion
Not saying it would be a bad idea, just not right now. However it would probably be like the current gathering tools. In which case I’d need a fused fishing rod.
I’m still under the impression that it only forces any targeted attack we make to hit the taunting mob/player in addition to making it run full sprint to them. In the event that we don’t get to chose what attack we use and only get to use auto attacks and stun breakers its not really going to have an impact on the current pve meta. Most players just spam one anyway. Wonder if we can change weapons, in any case necros can enter death shroud under stuns so at lest necros can switch over to a ranged attack if there taunted.
The other part I want to ask is what exactly does taunt do? Does it just force the target to walk to you and have you as its target? If so casting any one of the AoEs in the game will be an interesting counter. AoEs don’t need to be centred on your target.
Reason why I ask that is there might be mobs that throw taunt on players. I’m hoping there are but I don’t want to be forced to take a stun breaker all the time. I’m hoping AoE focused builds can do a soft ignore with it, excluded the forced walk.
It costs 50 energy and lasts 3 seconds. Good luck maintaining it.
Why would it need to be maintained?
The purpose of a taunt, as I said, is to draw attacks away from another player. Since in GW2 players can move, dodge, evade etc. spamming a taunt would be pointless. A “tank” would only need to taunt if an ally was being beaten bloody, eg. cc’ed and unable to defend themselves.
But in those circumstances they could save them, tank-style, with a taunt. That’s not the trinity as you see it in many other MMOs but it does finally introduce the potential for roles. One player in a team with all +toughness and +vitality gear could actually play a vital role – i.e. contribute just as much to the team’s success and speed as someone geared for DPS.
Soo…. Can I ask why we don’t do this with necros who don’t need to spec from toughness and vitality and still have the same effect that you are implying?
I highly doubt taunt is going to change anything. Imagine if the necro specialization changed all fears to taunt. what do we get? NOTHING. So far I don’t see necros “tanking” anything by chain fearing things into walls as it does not work. Bosses are immune to it for a reason (and now it will effect the defiance bar).
Chain fearing is good and all but I don’t think the rev will get enough taunt to even match the amount of fear a necro gets. Taunt will just be a situational trick the rev can do. use it as an interrupt, to stop stomps/revives and to damage the defiance bar.
All that just puts it at the same level as fear. About the only “agro” it will make is to other players, and fear does that better when your feared off a cliff. I’m sure someone will come up with a taunt build but its only greatness will come from bashing on trash mobs. Over all it will just be a control ability and I don’t see it becoming a LF tank call any time soon
As additional stats sure. I’d be fine with it, just the same way as we have condition duration. If anything boon duration is one of the support stats already put in the game. If they added more stats to the list they would need to think about all the players that have already crafted there gear they wish to use.
If for example they added agony as a base stat there would of been some real problems with the game as it only worked in one area. That being said id like to see a new stat similer to agory but as a scale based stat for the damage we do to the defiance bar with control abilities. Put it in the same slot for infustions and you have a solid replacement for pve players who dont want the agony resist or wvw stats.
Wish I would get one of them $10 sales. Cheapest I can get it for here is $25.
But as for the expansion ill guess and gladly pay $60. Just look at other mmos or games that have expansions. The trend is to charge the same price as the base game. It honestly does not change anything for me, I’ll probably buy the most expensive version anyways (aka CE)
Ops sorry that was just me quick building. Iv not found ascended keepers amulet/ring/trinkets. But the build is solid enough to deal out a lot of damage and still survive in fights.
Sadly the cost to build this build is a little (a lot) expensive. but i believe if your going to do life steal you need to do it right
I don’t think anyone was arguing that you lose your profession. In the end you are still a ranger, just your a druid as long as your in that form. As for when your in druid form and losing access to something, there is a good chance that will happen. If anything you will defiantly lose access to other specializations as long as your a druid (yes you could easily change out of druid to say “poacher” as long as both are unlocked for you)
This build seems interesting but its only going to be useful in pve as long as you can dodge. In wvw ppl are just going to get out of your wells. The runes are ok but i don’t see you staying at above 90% hp a lot. Your damage amps also don’t effect the life steals nor do they make you heal more from them.
Personaly i run this build, giving me alot of damage as well as some chessy defense.

Personally i will probably see if the necro specialization fits any of my existing 5 necros builds. then ill probably make a 6th necro just to squeeze everything out of the new specialization.
I will try the rev just to see if i like it. But for now it will be more nercos
Well no you don’t “lose” you skills. They are just locked for the duration that you have chosen to become a druid. If you un-specialize via the special shiny button they provide us you get your locked skills back, but now your druid skills are locked.
Any they have yet to explain how getting a specialization works. So telling us its the mastery system when no body currently knows if is just false hope.
Just food for thought. There are key binding options for a 5th profession skill (F5)
What is the chance we will get a specialization that deals with us having our death shroud skills outside of death shroud? So far its the only profession i can see easily getting the 5th skill in the form of ridding us of death shroud.
Not saying its a good idea but it makes sense to me that a(one) specialization deals with that. But for the one we get with HoT, it would need to tie in with the GS. Just not sure exactly what it will change on the necro.
The Itzel Lore last point lets us use harpoons to pull wyverns down to us to fight. So maybe there will be some zones that are hard to get around because theirs a wyvern nuking us from orbit.
It looks like there version of weapon traits will be legend traits instead. Well here to hoping they don’t get 20% reduction to two handed weapon skills.
I’d be happy to Preorder right now even if the release was end of next year. I’m going to get it regardless of when it comes out. But theirs a chance that they don’t know what they want to add as a preorder bonus or if theirs going to be a deluxe edition/collectors edition. That and the idea of having a physical box might appeal to some.
The day minions get stats biased on ours is the day i just plain delete one of my necros. Some of us use minions because of that fact. That being said we do share condition damage and condition duration. But i do agree the ability itself (Putrid Explosion) could use a boost and be based off of our stats. It would weaken mine but i use them as a soft bonus to damage and added blast finishers when needed.
I’m also getting ready to delete the necro if that stat share happens in HoT.
This thread makes my leg’s hurt
The bigger question is what are you trying to do with the torment? If its to stop enemies from moving, the small amount of damage it does is not going to help. If its for aoe damage torment could be your best bet, just remember sigil of blight also exists, but its real purpose is to mess with healing. You could even swap out the sigil of earth for blight so you have even more aoe damage.
Torment for necros is better used for condition protection. That is to make it harder for an enemy to cleanse conditions off themselves. At that point your trying to load them up with them so they cant cleanse the right ones off.
The bleeds from sigil of earth will end up doing more damage to a single target then sigil of torment, but are easier to counter. Id try it and go with runes of the the krait, with them you have the same amount of condition damage, less torment and when ever you use your elite you spread out bleed, poison and torment.
Just remember you only need sigil of corruption on one of your weapon sets, any kills when that weapon of will add to your stacks.
For a different option if your running corrupt boon, runes of antitoxin will trigger off of it. Meaning each time you use it you gain 5 stacks of might for free
Necro, Thief and probably Warrior would be the easiest to add upkeep skills to. Each of them have a resource that we could use. Hopefully they come up with a more creative way to do it then to just tack it on as a life force degen. After all we already have an upkeep skill, to maintain death shroud we pay upkeep in the form of life force.
Not entirely. Remember multi-classing from GW1. specialization might be an attempt to fill that role. So spend something to gain something could be a specialization that the necro gets, not saying it will be our first one but it could be one of them.
- Main character: Morroi
- Account name: dhampyr.2813
- Server: Sea of Sorrows
- Preferred game mode: PvE, WvW, Pvdoor
- Number of Necromancers: 5 (more to come)
I’m personally hoping for a double gated system. Think the rank system in wvw, were we get mastery points for each level up. But each track needs to be unlocked with some kind of challenge or event.
Say the mastery of krait slaying (hoping for them to obsolete slayer potions because of all the new utilities they have given us) needs to be unlocked by doing some event in the game that has heavy involvement with krait. Then you need to spend points for each rank in the mastery.
This way the people with 2-3 stacks of tomes can do something with them without having a straight up advantage in hot. They may even give us a say to turn mastery points in to skill points
