Making it more appealing to smaller groupswill just make it that much more appealing to blobs as they will now run over it in 1 second instead of 10. If you want to discourage blob wars then you need to discourage blobbing up for everything and encourage running in smaller groups. There are several ways to do this, my personal favorite is to have PPC that scale inversely with the amount of people that participated in taking an objective. This way, blobs can still mow down everything, yet small coordinated havoc groups that take down upgraded towers or even keeps with just a few people will still contribute a good amount to the warscore.

Remove AC and trebs and Mag will own the entirety of EBG within 10 mins… also seriously EBG is the most played map on any server, you want to mess with that?

I always thought Elixir X could be something like cleanse all condis currently on you and gain all boons, fits more into the theme.

Heh, not often that one troll goes to that level, all we get here is constant tactivator/siege trolls, no-one has quite gone beyond that here.

I wouldn’t put bloodlust on EBG, I would rather see it put in the middle of desert BL or something , am ok with other suggestions however, especially about repositioning red keep and mendons.

Since everything I posted was reported, let me post again as a player thats been on Mag since beta. First off, Mag has always had a monstrous NA, and right now we have a good EU and ok OCX depending on whos raiding, however we have less SEA then any server i’ve ever seen (seriously we were outmanned on all 4 maps during SEA, we don’t even have a single SEA guild) and that combined with being unlinked pushes our population to very high and not full.

From Mag here, our server is extremely NA heavy, with a good EU and decent OCX, however having literally 0 SEA population probally was enough to put our server to very high.

If even half of the guilds rumored to be moving to SBI go it should be enough for t2 which would attract more people…. kinda interested to see how this plays out, I for one welcome our new T1 server.

From what I understand, TC is facing burnout and a substantial amount of their population never wanted to be T1 in the first place so those players are probally not raiding in the wake of lopsided matchups that leave them firmly in last place. ( first BG steamrolling, then mag, then back to BG)
I would have liked to see TC with a link….. you might get a break in t2 though if JQ comes up to T1 this week and that should let your server reorganise itself.

The only reason to go 5-4-3 is to make glicko losses or gains smaller for matchmaking purposes, apart from that it plays out exactly the same as 3-2-1. Was this change really needed? Could have just messed with the glicko system itself and kept 3-2-1 or 2-1-1 and have the same results.

Have you ever tried to fight against a warrior on point with ranger/thief / necro / revenant / ele ? Let me guess , you didn’t . Because staying on point with these classes is almost impossible in the melee range of warrior . You can’t kite enough in 1v1 because you ll lose the point . Warrior is direct counter to lots of builds and classes no matter what build warrior thanks to just defense traitline . It does too much for just 1 traitline.
To be fair, have you ever tried playing warrior without the defense traitline? To say it’s horrible would be somewhat of an understatement.

Well, it is about time that A.net addressed the constant server moves by certain guilds to show that they can manipulate Glicko.
Mag in particular can queue all their maps even at hours that other servers cannot. So, if BG is locked that means that Mag should be forever locked.
Also, I think this mean there will be no pairing for these 4 servers.
I’m not entirely sure you’ve been on Mag if you think we queue maps during OCX/SEA, during NA we tend to only queue EBG too ( We love EBG and hate everything else)

I wouldn’t want PPK adjusted with the way balance is at the moment. Increasing the impact of PPK will encourage conservative tactics too much, and that isn’t fun to play as or against. Nobody wants more servers like Mag who use “buddy” systems, run away from every fight the instant they start losing or flee when they don’t have the numbers.
Yeah, why should PPK focused play styles that actively encourage fighting be encouraged! We should all just sit in a t3 structure with siege all day and talk about how cute dolyaks are in the moonlight.

Despite our commanders spending more time in moa form then their actual character, I think moa is fine, seeing our commanders command as a moa is worth keeping the skill as it is.

Most organised groups already are extremely tanky due to things like healbot eles, mallyx/jalis rev for resistance/ damage reduction and damage reduction food….. doubling their health would mean no-one ever dies.

Unless they had 25 stacks of might and I had vuln on me maybe….. idk builds that tend to hit that hard are usually in mostly marauder/zerker, I wouldn’t take a 7k hit from anything that tanky, even ignoring protection and damage reduction food etc.

If it is so powerful why isn’t everyone in that armor and condi build? People forget that condi does damage, but does damage over time, and that makes the whole difference. You have time to properly react to that. It’s much worse to get hit 7k instantly than get 10k condi on you that ticks for several seconds.
Condi is fine, it’s just that some builds aren’t.
Builds that hit for 7k instantly do not also have 3200 armour and lots of vit though….. maybe I should have said that the builds that use condi the best tend to be inherently defensive to begin with , and those builds when combined with defensive stats while being able to do damage is annoying to deal with in a small man environment.

I think the frustration comes from the fact that dire/trailblazer builds will deal more damage then a corresponding power build with the same stats, for example 3200+ armour as well as a high amount of Vit is what you get with a dire/trailblazer build, but if you try to make a power build with that level of toughness and vitality, you end up doing negative damage….. with that said, aside from condi necro none of the condi builds end up being viable outside of small fights/duels.

What I meant by what I said is imagine a typical server that is strong in a few timezones and weak in others, under the new system you can tryhard to get 1st place in your skirmish, without having to worry about 2 servers getting massively ahead in your weak timezone which happens in 3-2-1 scoring, overall I feel that 2-1-1 is just better system for scoring. (Ignoring the issues of PPT itself)

Am I the only one who likes the new system? It actively helps your server if you have a weak timezone and don’t have 24/7 coverage, and takes the stress off having to PPT 24/7 or risk falling out of your tier.

Any particular tier? SoS has a lot of aussies, pretty much any t1 worthy server like JQ/TC/Mag/BG have some OCX presence.

I totally agree this scoring system is really bad and there is no way to catch up because the 2 lower servers WILL NOT work together to beat the higher scorer server. Please bring back the 3-2-1 scores and I dont know ANYONE who choose this system. Anet already had this in place before they said anyone voted on it (never saw that vote)
I choose the new system, less stress if you’re behind because you’ll never fall too far behind.

Hi Hotpants good to see you’re back! PYRO is pretty scattered and quite rare to see more then a handful of us at any time, but theres a few still on maguuma, and a few in KEK on JQ.

As you may have heard, beast gate has the strongest guilds and players in the entire game and therefore has the highest KDR every matchup and it’s not even close.

TBH there’s better roaming guilds than those like trex. They’re just not in T1
definitely. Trex is definitely way above any of those he mentioned. I’ve fought with and against them, and they make all the BG guilds look like pvers.
Trexs team play is extraordinarily good, their communication/teamwork is almost unmatched which sets them apart from most roaming guilds that are focused on individual play, having fought almost every roaming guild in the game at some point they stand out as pretty special.

Guardians are a staple for any co-ordinated large group due to their AOE stab, condi cleanse and boons making them an ideal frontliner, while roaming groups might use a glassy DH as a strong dps option that can look after itself very well, or a tanky healing guardian to fill a support role.
In general, guardians/ DHs are quite strong no matter what you’re doing in WvW so they’re played quite a bit.

It seems that is the trend in T1 and T2. What’s the point of defending, building any siege, or getting rid of a waypointed keep if after all that effort, the enemy still gets 1st in the skirmish and gets rewarded double the points. Meanwhile, the weaker server which may have done nothing or, even worse, harrassed you the whole time, gets the same amount of points.
I can’t speak for TC, but BG just stopped trying early on. I don’t have any ears in T2, but judging by the score, it seems the same there as well.
This has also affected the amount of roamers out there. If the contribution of small groups is gonna amount to diddly squat, then what’s the point? Gold means a lot more to small groups as they don’t have a large guild to contribute to siege and food. Sure, you can roam around and get into fights, but how long will it be until you find someone? Better to just go into PvP.

Taking a t3 keep or whatnot helps you in the next skirmish though….. Also don’t blame the scoring system for BG purposely tanking in order to get a server link, that’s why the score is so lopsided.

TC is the premiere 2v1 server. We are hated, and often 2 teamed, because thats just how it is. Despite this adversity, TC is always in the top 2 tiers, usually bumping up to T1 every so often.
If you like solo roaming, join a very low tier. If you like organized groups, utilizing voice chat, and structure, then ask in WvW general chat if any WvW guilds are recruiting. They’ll point you to the community site, where most anyone will help you find a guild.
Word of note though, stay ignorant, and just have fun. Realizing the bigger picture will only widen your eyes to the orwellian nature of the community at large.

imo this encourage people to transfer to a stacked server even more, since this is win or nothing. Those players in a server’s weak timezone will have zero objective to do(except karma/wxp farming/teabag), since all their effort will become nothing no matter how hard they fight.
However, let’s see how this change will really do since this may not a permanent change, cheers.
On the other hand, it takes a lot of pressure off due to not needing to have 24/7 coverage to compete, which is always a good thing.

I don’t think its too bad,the current system currently promotes attacking the 2nd place server the most instead of the first place server which this new scoring system should help with….. however i’m worried that it will promote very unhealthy behaviours for servers to win a skirmish, for example in NA T1, do we need more people running away from fights to not feed PPK/ only backcapping things all day? I feel like its a good change, but some servers are going to feel the need to adopt unfun habits more so then they already do in order to win.

Most maguumans just want to fight enemy players, but the new system doesn’t give an incentive to fight so T1 NA is becoming less and less about fighting enemy players and more about backcapping 24/7, thats where the frustration is coming from.

Honestly both approaches have issues, one can argue that PPK being worth more leads to people being even more scared to fight, but I dislike this current system as it encourages backcapping and avoiding fights anyway, this leads us to the question of how can we actually encourage people to fight each other in wvw? The best way to win wvw atm is to not fight at all which is making for extremely stale/boring gameplay.
