Hear hear, Arenanet, let the ship fly away if you absolutely must, but leave Labyrinthine Cliffs and populate with other stuff. Really nice there!
Ouch, that gotta hurt!
We’ve had nothing solid that the ruins Rata Sum were built on were of mursaat origin.
Well, it’s kind of in the cards although not documented, but those ruins of an ancient civilisation plus all the naming conspiracies seem to point in the direction it could very well have been the Mursaat, right?
As I said, my previous post is my theory and rests on some assumptions, so it’ll fall if the Asura don’t share a connection with the Mursaat.
Rata Sum was allegedly created when the Asura came upon this ancient Mursaat seat of power and setting up power generators etc in this location, they built and establish their new home capital.
My take on the Uncategorized Fractal is that, knowing the Asura as “geniuses” with a lot of experimental projects going on, the UF is just a failed attempt at creating Rata Sum. How many Asura projects have you seen gone the way they’re supposed to on the first atttempt?? To me it then seems likely the Uncategorized Fractal was an early attempt to establish the new capital, but the Raving Asura who was maybe the head architect behind this project failed to succeed and the result got twarted into an inaccessible structure that we’re now jumping through. Maybe he got abandoned as his project started to crumble, which could be why he’s gone mad and screams in disbelief when the party eventually beat him.
Hopefully we’ll know the truth someday, this rambling theory is mine at least.
do you get kicked if you’re watching a camera and go afk?
Here’s my latest alt creation, Rorschach the Charr mesmer…
Heavily influenced by my favourite Charr in GW1, Rragar Maneater.
Only thing that sucks is that I’m forced to play (“hard-mode”) without chest armor to look like I want to.
I totally disagree with this. In my guild we have some (specially older) people who can’t do jumping puzzles. We are a very social guild that help each other with everything. This includes with doing jumping puzzles.
This is the very reason why the portals shouldn’t work in JPs. If you cannot do content because of lack of skill, you shouldn’t get a freebie ride to its rewards either. I’m fine with social guilds/players wanting to help each other, but help each other learn how to do the content then rather than just transport them to the end – this post alone was a shining example why the portal should be “nerf’ed” when it comes to this kind of content – allow long range horizontal range but much shorter range in vertical range or something like that, I don’t know, that’s up to Anet to decide.
Yes, I’m a mesmer too and used portals in Not So Secret, but only to get myself back up if I didn’t manage a jump – and I don’t mind people catching a ride if they were in the same boat, they would then continue to attempt to get to the end too. I never ported people straight to the finish line.
Hi,
I’m not sure which update changed it, but it looks like you can now hide your gloves visibility, like you’ve always been able to hide headpiece and shoulderpiece.
How about doing this also for footwear and chestpieces, I’m playing a Charr and would really like to hide the armor I’m wearing to look more like all those Charr I fought in GW1.
I understand it would be abused by all the immature who would immediately strip their chars and run around in bras or bare-chested for laughs, but I think they would still be a minority and people won’t take notice or bother. You’ve still got undergarments for those races where nudity could be an issue, Sylvari and Charr don’t seem that affected.
Now I’ve got to play “hardcore” by not wearing chestpiece armor at all so I miss some stats I could’ve had just because of vanity
Oh, but you’re so wrong, to believe that any sound coming out of the Vuvuzela can be described as music…
While I don’t mind the Marriner’s Horn, I run whenever I hear one…
I just hope it will have a loooong ladder of unlockable rewards so that those now at 10K+ achievement points login after patch day and voila, everything unlocked… ofc, I doubt Anet are that gullible or naive, just saying it out loud so that the ladder is so ludicrously high it’ll be like the HoM grind in GW1 and ensure “longevity” of the game.
We’ll never see the remaining 2/3rds of the core game: Elona and Cantha – as those are too big to plop into a bi-weekly update.
Expansions are needed – they give space for the HUGE changes, the world shakers. Like adding a whole continent back in.
That’s not necessarily a good assumption, yes, according to the traditional MMO service model of core game, then expansions, it would be true.
But I refuse to believe that everything in the 2-week Living Story release cycle will be made in the space of 2 weeks… so, e.g. for a Living Story release set for august/september, they could very well be working on a really big release that these shorter fragments we’re seeing now could be building up. That big release – yea, even though it’s released as part of a 2-week cycle – could have been worked on since this spring for all we know.
I’m sure they’re working on several LS releases in parallel and that some of these could very well contain a new continent with several zones and a new personal story, or at least the start of one, which can be continued in successive releases.
I agree – I have this ‘filler’ feeling towards many of the Living Story releases that have come lately, but with the latest Sky Pirates, the story and cinematic changed my opinion a bit, so now it’s up to Anet to continue to dazzle me. And of course, I love a big batch of new content – continent with several new zones, new mobs, new rewards, new playable race, etc. – so I really hope Anet have something like this planned even though they will be releasing stuff every 2 weeks.
Is the use of Cloudfront the reason why the hom.guildwars2.com keeps breaking with CSS/JS seeming to fail to initialise or load?
It stopped working again… this is from just now. Experiencing it in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE… tried clearing cache, etc. etc.
I think so, the website is currently buggy and looks like this…
Yes, add ascended gear (weapons+armor) provided they come with a whole array of new looks. I don’t give a kitten about stats improvement, please do increase stats if you want from exotic to ascended, but add more, lucrative end-game skins.
And while they’re at it, introduce the ascended gear as both drops from difficult/challenging end-game content, or purchaseable with tokens from end-game content… i.e. like the dungeons/badges of honor/pvp tokens + gold already function. I’ve got no problem with stuff to grind towards, but it needs to come paired with more end-game content catered to all player styles.
Since none of us know what the expansion will be, it’s probably not going to be majorly focused around Durmand Priory, Order of Whispers, The Vigil, so my thought while I’ve been back playing Guild Wars 1, was how these 3 factions could be made more interesting.
How about introducing new mission campaigns to further investigate your personal story choice with respect to faction – like in GW1 – that you can do for normal or hard mode and accumulate points rewards in the 3 factions in a similar sense with story books, etc.
At certain stages with your faction, you could get hold of new titles, boosts, armor types, weapon types, hopefully new skins, but if not at least a way to introduce the ascended armor/weapon types.
There’s maybe 5-6 faction-specific personal story quests so far in GW2 and nothing to make me feel really associated with my faction until it just merges into The Pact storyline, so it would be nice to get a parallel story/campaign – you can either solo or bring a party – esp if they make some challenging hard mode that could scale with party size.
Just a thought anyway…
I can’t go into details, but there were a tiny number of accounts that had false positives for cheating/hacking caused by a bug in the puzzle. We’re fixing that bug (if it hasn’t been fixed already) and reinstating the accounts that were incorrectly banned.
Whereas it is a relief you have discovered this bug, I suggest you also look into a compensation for the innocent players whose accounts you automatically banned because of “fool-proof”, 3rd-party hacking software. Players ranged all across the board from casual to hardcore with thousands of hours playtime, and to be slapped with an automatic ban and unruly dismissals by GMs calling them cheaters without letting them know what they stood accused of is very harsh.
In this case it’s probably a dozen or twice that judging by the desperate threads popping on Reddit since the incident, and some sort of compensation when you’ve been falsely accused (and judged) when it turns out it was your own doing.
I’m not one who was affected by this, but can only begin to feel what these banned, innocent players must feel and some even are struggling to motivate themselves getting back into the game.
GW1 is what, 7-8 years, GW2 isn’t even one. Give them some time to add all this stuff, I’m sure it will come.
What did GW1 have after 10 months?
But I agree though, lots of awesome skins in GW1 that should make it into GW2 too! I’d really like the Augur of Kormir set for instance, possible to wear on all armor classes.
End-game gear is all about skins in GW2, so it’s natural the T3 cultural costs so much. Just be glad the jump from T1 to T2 isn’t halfway between T1 and T3, otherwise we’d miss out on lots of cool skins from the T2 because you’d have to make some serious considerations before splashing out.
T3 prices are fine as they are, if they were to reduce them now I’d expect big reimbursements made to everyone who’s grinded to afford it while it’s been expensive. And I don’t see that happening – which is why T3 prices should stay.
Like Elder Scrolls and now GW2, Dwarves are fine as they are… dead.
Elves, most annoying race ever, and I’m not so sure I like the Sylvari that much either, but at least I like them more than Asura, heh.
Anyhow, I liked marnick’s comment, if you cannot get your head around Arena.net’s world where dwarves are extinct and elves don’t exist… why on earth should a fantasy world always contain these species, it’s ridiculous…
WoW is that way >>>>>>>>>>>
Don’t forget your credit card.
Hey guys, please note that those saying it got fixed in the new build are referring to a build from March 26, this dye bug has reoccurred with the Sky Pirates patch…
Bug is still live.
I suggest everyone to buy the armor skins off the shop, it is possible that if they sell SIGNIFCANTLY more by selling the skins directly, they could change their marketing strategy to reflect it; which means this could end the RNG issue.
Why? The money apparently goes to NCSoft (not Arena.net) to finance their other games, like the upcoming Wildstar, which I have no interest in…
Confirmed on SFR too, looks like the language pack for China release of GW2 made it into dragon coffers in Europe
When will you add the missing helm from this medium set? It’s probably the best-looking helm/hat for medium armor and it’s never been possible to get although all Lionguard NPCs sport it.
If in doubt; I’m talking about the helm from the set linked below – it’s clearly in the game, could you please add it to the karma vendor in Fireheart Rise/Straits of Devastation like the rest of the set?
While you’re at it, can you please fix the Human T3 Heavy Cultural Armor so that the chest gets 4 dye slots? Make it so that you can have one for the main cloth area of the tabard and the second for the rim/hem?
Now the dye option will completely ruin the dye unless you use a really light dye in which case the main cloth area is always white…
I love the armor! I gave 50 euros!
But the armor gw1 really miss…
Yes… I can like some things about the Aetherblade light and medium armor, but come on, seriously, that heavy armor??
I know you’re going for steampunk but this just feels so wrong. Just the heavy helm and it’s “goggles” seem awfully displaced.
When I think of heavy armor, I think of this in a game, when will you add more proper heavy armor, Anet?

Definitely a quality of life boost if this gets implemented.

Would want some Anet feedback on the thread to acknowledge its existence, please let this suggestion get to the storyboard!
Personally I think the final reward for a Living Story arc should be a ticket that lets you claim any one of the other rewards, plus one special but largely cosmetic reward for people who got all the rest by other means.
So for example in this case instead of Marjory’s Journal we’d get a ticket that lets us choose one of the following:
Holographic Wings
Shatterer Wings
Jade Weapon Ticket
Dragon Helm Pack (Gift of the Dragon Bash)
Mini Racing Moa
Holographic Risen Knight
Or Marjory’s Journal(I haven’t included items that can be bought directly from the gem store because if you want them you can already just buy them, so it’d be a bit pointless.)
The fact that this ticket would only be obtainable at/towards the end of the event, and the fact that you can only get one, would encourage people to still try and get the rewards through normal means, but it would provide a back-up for people who missed something and reduce the chance of people ending up with a bank full of special one-time items we don’t want to use but don’t want to destroy because it seems like a waste.
This except the Jade Weapon Ticket, because everyone would go for that. Or another weapon/armor skin ticket if it was any other event with the same rarity of those tickets.
So, sadly Nicholas the Traveler and Mr. Yakkington aren’t around anymore, but that doesn’t stop us from receiving countless junk trophies on our adventures in Tyria…
How many times haven’t you been to merchants to offload X amounts of cold stones, cogs, fins, shells and lockpicks.
So, rather than having to offload these for a handful of coppers/silvers, why not introduce the heir of Nicholas the Traveler to exchange X amounts of junk on a weekly, rotating schedule for something off potential value… call them for example Gifts of the Volunteer, say, because at the same time I figured one candidate to take up these reigns might be Lionguard Lyns… she’s been collecting all this stuff to rebuild Lion’s Arch, and now she starts travelling the continent of Tyria in search of junk parts she can ferry back to further LA’s rebuilding, and that of course leads her to new places every week.
The gifts themselves could include anything from more valuable trash, foods, minis or valuable rare materials or in the exotic case, a laurel or something of similarly high value.
And in turn it might lead old players back to low-level zones and help re-populate these zones for new players because everyone will want to get their max allowance of such gifts every week. Make them tradeable so that people can carefully decide whether to open one of their 5 gifts or to sell for a neat sum to someone else willing to spend rather than farm.
Of course, the junk trophies drop more frequently than the trophies in GW1, so an exchange rate of 10:1 per gift could make sense?
Thoughts?

Good suggestion to enhance popularity of dungeons again.
Already enough concessions made by allowing any race to use the cultural weapons of any race, it kind of keeps it somewhat race-unique to keep the armor restrictions.
The new damage, support, control works just fine… no need to introduce the old trinity in GW2.
This is living story, Anet!
An update which includes events that get unlocked and unfold day by day over a period, it keeps me logging in, keeps me gripped by the story.
The previous attempts were bulk updates with the whole chapter of a story unfolded and then nothing for 2-3 weeks and then another bulk update and again wait… it was too easy to do the story, forget it for 2 weeks then return to it and not remember or being able to follow.
Now it’s like taking part, love it!
Hardly need any reward even if this were to go on for a month… short fragments of storytelling sifted to you everyday and provide you with a bigger picture as more events unfold.
Kudos!
Just a clarification – did you have world completion already or are you trying to complete it?
You’re not missing the (in)famous Chantry of Secrets, are you? Order of Whispers HQ in cave in Bloodtide Coast?
South-east corner of Divinity’s Reach… Dead End Bar where you continue the Dragon Bash story. Check your in-game mail from yesterday for exact location.
Maybe you’re just missing the new POI they added yesterday in Divinity’s Reach for Dragon Bash Living Story?
Won’t these new POIs that keep getting added possibly reduce your world completion down a tiny fraction of a percent? Ofc, not the achievement, but just that discrepancy you’re seeing?
Maybe sky pirates because they roam the lands in airships, and not the seas by normal ships…?

I understand, but still it goes against human nature:)
I quite resent that implication.
Your first post about the OP reporting a potential, exploitable bug was because he should rather stay silent about it because he saved X amount of gold in a game!
And then with the justification from the devs, you accept it but think it goes against human nature?!? Human nature is to cheat? Come off it, kitten it, your post made me angry this morning… that’s exactly the mentality of all those exploiters out there ruining the game for us who don’t.
Anyhow- won’t derail the rest of the topic, kudos to the OP for his/her honesty and gratz on an extra char slot now received “with Anet’s blessing”
Awesome cinematic – very Sin City-like or influenced by noir PI scenes… classy, and avoiding puns in the dialogue. I like it when the story is done with players treated like mature adults who can follow a storyline without it derailing into spoofs and parodies.
More of this Anet!
Looks like they forgot about the “Multiplayer” aspect of MMO.
You just had to make a post about a single-player instance after so many people have been whining that group dungeons cannot be done solo?
Anet heed their calls and add a single-player instance – which anyway is just a short part of the living story, and not really a dungeon – and players complain again…
Geeze…
They could commemorate seeing through long meta events with special titles too; seeing as these villages don’t remain saved but just get run over an hour after you’ve gone or so, at least you could show a title for protecting all the villages in Kryta at some point, say.
Champion of Kryta, Protector of the Kodan (all events pertaining to helping the Kodan refugees in Shiverpeaks).
And perhaps most basic; why can’t I be, Commander of the Pact, once I’ve done the personal story?
They can introduce titles retroactively, that cannot be so difficult if you’ve met the achievement requirements.
I’m all for adding more titles.. not only Rift does it, but TERA too. And people do enjoy titles; I’ve seen so many people with different titles in those games, the more the merry.
But the Dragon Coffers put a light in the darkness, there is hope to have a weapon skin without real money/gold but just with playing the game, sure there is a 0.0000000000000000001% chance for that skin IMO (hearind someone opened 3k for 2 tickets make my head spin…) but it’s a good thing that You can be rewarded with a skin for only playing your regular game – this is good I like this.
I agree… the new way of getting hold of the tickets is how it should be. And with these skins being – like another poster said ‘endgame to the hardcore people’ – the drop chance of 0.1% is ok…ish. I cannot complain because I have got my ticket from 1000 coffers, but it would be somewhat more fair if the RNG included a small factor of accumulative chance – still not guaranteeing result – but at least raising that chance to say 1% or the likes. Each time is completely new still so the end result might remain just as harsh, but at least it’s not an astronomic chance all over every time.
You put up an order for 22 shards, 3 days ago.
Big Brother is watching
Surveillance worthy of the NSA!
Here are a few facts a out the holograms.
1. They are available for a limited time only.
2. You need to kill 300 creatures for the achievement.
…
We’re on day 3 of the festival which lasts until July 9th… most people are already well on their way to at least 30% finished (if they are at all hunting holograms).
The courtesy principles stapled by the OP are nice, but I feel maybe 1-1.5% of the game’s population will see it, and those playing it will just have to make do.
Myself – I check if someone’s around or close, then I let them pop whatever AoE skill they want, pop stability (for us) and then spawn the holo and we proceed to loot happily after a little carnage.
Nope, I just encountered it.
Scenario that seems to break it for me, but isn’t reproduceable it seems.
head scratch
RNG in GW2 would do well to lend a principle from TERA, where you spend materials/armor to enchant items. If you’re successful, enjoy! But if not, at least you get a better chance at succeeding the next time.
If RNG factored in your N previous attempts somehow to slightly better your chances, and of course, reset once you do, I’d feel a whole lot better about this RNG business.
Of course, I managed to get a Jade Weapon ticket from 300 normal coffers last night, and have got 5 holo knights already(!?!) but am hoping to get maybe one more ticket because these weapons are so nice…
You didn’t say that when you were screaming for the game to be released, threatening to have your pre-order reimbursed and Anet were not saying when and only ‘when it’s ready’…
To the matter at hand; I hope Anet can punish the Lightning Hammer abusers… slap a ban the exploiters – it seems exploiters gonna exploit and they deserve nothing less!
My biggest problem with the RNG is that I can’t shake the feeling that it’s always the same characters who luck out in every draw, and the same players who never get it.
I’ve got guildies who got 2x Zap on the Karka event, he got a weapon tickets from all previous festivals, and another guildie who’s had unique exotic drops and weapon tickets. Then myself and others who’ve never seen any weapon tickets, etc.
So I feel that the RNG algorithm somehow favors certain player IDs and shuns others. I mean, RNG isn’t true randomness, if it was I’d have no such qualms, but the way it is I feel there’s probably a lot of us who will never see any good drops because we’re just “left out”… anyone can assure me this is not the case, pls?
Agree on this!
On the other hand, did I hear the Cantha (Factions OST) being played in LA yesterday??
