I think gw2 is running a font type that doesn’t support chinese.

I do believe, there are many japanese/korean players are playing us/eu servers, I just don’t know if they have similar problems.
China will have its own version. This won’t happen for the western servers, as they’re English-only (aside from the specific German/French servers).
well, the thing is, I didn’t ask gw2 to having chinese language contents, just support chinese language input, technically this is very easy.
on the other hand, the “china server” does not include taiwan and hongkong, only mainland of china that’s all. so players from Taiwan and HongKong need to join us/eu servers if they want to player gw2, and also chinese aboard also join us/eu servers.
therefore, I believe to support chinese (simplified/traditional) input is vital, and after all it is very easy thing to do technically.
please support chinese font input in eu/us clients ( both simplified and traditional), since there is no “asian servers” , there are many players from taiwan, Hongkong and mainland of china even Chinese students aboard play at eu/us server, but gw2 dosen’t support chinese input (both simplified and traditional) quite well.
it is not a difficult issue, please support chinese language input so more player will benefit from the change.

for example the frost spirit, it has " 35% chance to grant 10% bonus damage on hit for 6 seconds", does it mean under this 6 seconds all attacks have 35% chance to grant 10% bonus? or only attack will be grant 10% bonus?
my friend told me it is the former, under 6 second all attacks have 35% chance. which with trait is great group buff.
but I think otherwise.
I tested sun spirit on mobs, it appeared that even with 70% chance, every 6 second it only apply one burning condition then gone for “10 seconds recharge”.
if frost and sun spirit work in same way, then I am afraid it might also only buff one attack with bonus damage, if that so, the spirit is surely useless in team contribution.
but i am not sure my theory is correctly, so could someone tell me how it works please?
opening strike makes very little sense
ok, let me elaborate my point bit by bit
1) let’s see what opening strike gives
[adept] Cause vulnerability with your first strike when entering combat.
[master] Pets have Opening Strike.
[grandmaster] Opening strike always critical hits.
so, the opening strike offers is: 10 stacks of vulnerability and 2 critical hits. this might useful if you roaming pve killing mobs, but for a long-haul boss fight or dungeon fight against group mobs. all 3 opening strike trait are just close to nothingness.
2) then let’s see what Remorseless gives
[Remorseless] Regain Opening Strike whenever you kill a foe or gain stealth.
Arena Net did notice opening strike give little contribution over rangers’ damage, so they add this trait as a grandmaster major trait, but during a long haul boss fight or group mobs it only provide one more critical strike and vulnerability, comparing with Signet of the Beastmaster (Active effects of signets also affect you.) this trait is not very sensible.
and also please bear two points in mind:
a. opening strike has internal cd, it means under remorseless, if you kill multiple mobs within 1 or 2 seconds, it only gives one opening strike not the number of mobs you kill
amount all rangers’ skills, only one skill can actively make ranger “invisible”: longbow’s “hunter’s shot”, so if you really want to utilize remorseless more often, beg a thief to group up with you can constantly give you invisible.3) Marksmanship trait is core spirit value that ranger profession has, and it is the most useful trait for the profession, signet, range and other traits are all very handy, however, it is shame to see such… (excuse me about my language)… such RUBBISH AND NONSENSE setting like opening strike and remorseless exist in this line.
therefore my suggestion is:
a.make remorseless a default value of opening strike, as long as players have opening strike in there trait, effect of remorseless apply.
b. make a new remorseless, the new one works this way: opening strike will stack each time you killed a foe, and remove one stack each time you make a critical strike, every 45 seconds, opening strike will reset.
I am not thinking an op way to buff rangers, but only make it fair and more useful.

gw2 have active dodge choice which is cool and awesome, but some game setting hinders players to use it effectively.
the main problem is visual effects on target like boss and mobs are too much, 20+ players on single target only thing you will see is explosion, flashes and such, which is very hard to detect attacks by eyes, to certain professions rely on dodge heavy in melee range like rangers and thieves, this can be fatal.
there are 2 ways to improve the problem so far, either to switch off “post processing” or reduce “animation” level. but it will also sacrifice game’s visual quality.
thus, i suggest make “reduce effects on target” optional, so that players can reduce or turn off the visual effects on target. that will improve gamer’s experience without lower the game visual quality.
ps: please also do make “sticky target” option available please, since single click on floor will lose target is very annoying problem
pet boon mechanism is so funny
It is funny, when you attacking with a bow/axe and you have a pet that applys boon. do you know what need to do when you want to get that boon? you pull your pet back or you run all the way close to your pet, why? because rangers bow is either 1200 or 900 range and pet buff range is only 600.
I totally under stand anet doesn’t want to overpower rangers’ pet boon, but there is limit already, “it only apply to 5 person” so why there is also a so-small buff range?
when I am doing tequatl , I always need to pull my pet back in order to get that boon, and yet , cos too many players around me, it is so normal that I can’t receive that boon!
therefore I suggest, either increase pet boon range into 1200 or pet boon will directly apply to ranger, the other 4 players who are in range.

Did they forget it? or they just simply changed their mind?
On the live stream I believe they said they were looking into it but there were some server-side fixes that need to be made first for it to be possible.

only 3 things I wish changes for my ranger
1. sword 1 rooting problem improvement
2. pets/spirits survival and responsiveness
3. bows (long and short) damage

Just so you know, the only thing you cannot earn is score towards your server score since all servers of the same color are piled together. You can still get loot, world xp, ranks, badges, etc. Everything else you would earn in your normal maps you can earn in EoTM.
The design of the EoTM is meant to be a testbed for new mechanics for WvW, since the scores are not changed by this they can add new types of gameplay without affecting standing and seeing if the community likes them. Second, it allows players that would otherwise be waiting in LA to do something. Third, it’s design clearly favors roaming groups because of the large amount of choke points (for now we are still seeing a zerg vs zerg because its the new shiny).

It was made to do WvW stlye combat while waiting for long ques to get in.
More likely made for top tier or peak time NA servers that have large WvW playerbase.
Some WvWer`s hate PvE. I dont know why and before EotM; they probably just stood in LA staring at the screen.
so design a pvpve environment would be lovely, don’t you think? eotm made me recall a lot thing of aion (abyss), in which people fighting for fortress and also for some bosses which have amazing loot. there was always huge fight between two sides for getting those bosses.
The only NA servers that are constantly queued are Jade Quarry and Black Gate, aka the 2 super stacked band wagon servers.
The rest of the NA servers get maybe 1 queue for an hour at a certain time, and 2 on a really good day, so being made to “give queuers something to do” is pretty irrelevant, since any server aside from JQ/BG can just join one of the other borderlands….
well, the official statement is “wvw overflow”, if my memory serves my well. but how often wvw are overloaded (all 4 maps), I just dont know.
I know, I know, because American servers are 24/7 full at wvw, so in order to make queuing players happy, ohla, there is eotm.
but let me be frankly, as EU server players, wvw can always enter in most time of the day, ( except 7-8 pm ofc). however, the eotm progress does not count as world experience, wvw points, glory and such ( I understand the balance motive behind it),but as long as you complete all achievement of this map, what’s residue value of it?
someone might say, “hey, you just been trolling around, you like it just play it, you don’t, just go away.”
I am not trolling really, I have been there and I LOVE the design of eotm, it is a waste to see there is no future of the map ( by far I don’t foresee any of it).
So I suggest, why not making a very rewarding and challenging boss/event at eotm, so that 3 colors can rival each other for that huge reward ( mostly gears ofc). since wvw is pvp, main game is pve, so we can make eotm a pvpve environment right?

my friend and I were farming linen at fireheart rise for days, about 4-5hours each days. at monday both of us were blocked due to “botting” reason, which neither myself nor my friend ever did. thank to support team, mine were unblocked but my friend’s account is still under banned. Please help him.
^^! he’s mad cos he was accused and blocked “botting” which he never did in his entire life, yet he is innocent he have to wait 2 day by now, which I just did in 2 hours. don’t mention most guildies are on the new patch and his is left behind…
and sorry to bring that up, when we was playing wow, the ticket response always very fast, usually within 2 hours, even in mid-night, and you can even call customer service for some direct support. With comparison like that, I can understand his feeling.It is possible that he did in fact receive a response, but his email provider blocked the email.

that is up to him. pls keep in mind that the 3 days is an ultimate target. often its sooner. mayn times when it isn’t reached it is cause the mail got hidden in a spamfolder. But it is the amount of time needed to make sure there is an issue.

So yes, WoW risks loosing the monthly income when they dont help you in time. They are eager to help you stay addicted.
Gaming addiction is a very bad issue. I know I have to watch out for it a lot myself. It is why I stick to GW2. I don’t pay monthly fees and I can quit whenever I want. The support model that blizzard uses is payed by the monthly fee and is based on keeping you addicted. GW2 knows many people are addicted, but they don’t benefit (leech) from it. They are just happy you enjoy the game.
well, though that is not a direct relation, but a happy player will also buy gems, right?And gems does sustain gw2 in good way. so making better CS is also vital to gw2 in my view. :P

I didn’t quite get your last part, did you mean that people who botting will be blocked for sure cause Anet has solid evidence, but people like me being falsely blocked just need to request a ticket to unblocked, because they are not 100% sure and will re-evaluate the action?
Yes and No, it is more subtile.
We have seen scenario’s here like the following
player his account is terminated cause he was botting (according to Arenanet). He filed a support ticket claiming he was not. Arenanet re-investigated the evidence and came to the same conclusion (the payer has been botting). The player asked for an appeal and the supportliason (Gaile) investigated the matter. She also came to the conclusion that beyond reasonable doubt this person has been botting and not as he claimed he has been farming. The player however maintained his stance.For me as an outsider it is impossible to tell for 100% sure who is right and who is wrong. On one hand I trust Anet to make very sure they investigate fully and also believe they will only make a claim that the player has been botting if they are 100% sure. But I also know Anet has made mistakes (not bout botting, but for example in recognising a bug as an exploit). On the other hand it is important for botters to spread doubt and discredit Arenanet.
So I can not say that Arenanet never makes mistakes and so I can not garantee that you will not be permanent terminated for botting while you where only excessive farming.
I do know that the amount of people claiming to have been terminated for botting while they actually where excessive farming is very very low. So it is my personal believe that those who do claim, are actually botters trying to discredit Arenanet.
Also ask yourself a question. How many others do you think are farming for 20-40 minutes, then do a worldboss and return to farming?? I think a lot of people do that. If the filters and support would be faulty in recognising this as allowed behaviour, this forum would explode with discussions bout it, but it doesnt.
So bottom line: I can’t garantee you anything, but I wouldn’t bother and just go ahead with your farming.

It is not forbidden to farm. Ask for explanation and supporting evidence of you “botting”, otherwise, if none is provided, demand exculpation.
Anet will pretty much laugh at that. It’s their game, and therefore their way or the highway unfortunately, and they like the “highway” option, especially when someone might be getting ahead.
It is 100% allowed to farm and there is no limit to the amount of farming (although you can be hit by diminishing returns).
It might happen that you are identified as a botter. The process of identifying has three steps.
a: Your account is flagged suspiccious. This can be done by another player who thinks you are a bot or by ‘bot-detection’ software.
b: A GM will evaluate the evidence against you and in the case the outcome is that you have been botting you are suspended.
c: at this point you can appeal the decission.Anet will never provide evidence. The first reason is that they dont have to. The terms of service is very clear that Anet can suspend an account without any reason (though they never will). The second reason is that the evidence would learn bot-writers how to bypass the filters and avoid detection.
Some have claimed that they have been falsely accused of botters. Of those who appealed and got a negative final answer, I never saw any evidence they didn’t bot. The people botting can easily say as well that Anet is wrong and they profit from putting Anet in a bad corner. The amount of people making these claims do make me suspect the latter. This situation is very very rare.
what I did now is, I farm for about 40-50 minutes, then gone for world bosses, then come back again doing same thing again. just trying to avoid being tagged suspicious by system again.

Well, there is nothing to hide.
Linen price has gone from 3 silvers to 7 silvers each, so I decide to farm linens with my friend. Because simply, we just need coins.
We picked up one spot “severed breach waypoint” at fireheart rise, there is a event have many mobs spawns and we can farm linens as planed. at this point, I believe this action does not fall into “exploit game bug” category either.
We didn’t farm a lot, 3 hours maximum and as long as we got 250 linen, we just take off.
Well, 2 days later, both my friend and myself were blocked due to “botting” reason, I got myself unblocked and my friend’s account are still blocked (321651). I am 100% positive that we did not use any botting software or such to assist us to gain any advantage.
I am worried, because both my friend and myself were not using any botting thing, and we also farm within acceptable limit as I believed, yet we were blocked for being suspicious.
Will anyone tell me please, how to farm but not being suspicious and blocked by gw2, what is gw2’s standard for “excessive farming”. I just don’t want to be blocked due to that reason.
And my friend is still under blocked statue, please unblock him (321651), we were together farming and I knew he did not botting as well.
Thank you for your understanding, we are just decent players, and we also like to make progress in game without being troubled.

of course I mean when they are holding the weapon at hand while when they are walking, the animation is wrong.
I would like to report a bug that when a sylvari male carrying two handed weapon (bows, and greatsword) while he is walking (walking not running), the animation shows wrongly as they carry the two handed weapon at one hand and the other hand is holding something (actually nothing).
I believe proper animation when a character carrying two handed weapon is to carry them on should when they are walking, even sylvari female character do that animation.
please fix it. thank you

This is just some thoughts I believe not making rangers op but just making this class more useful.
First wish, Arena Net will read my topic and consider it( maybe they will think it is STUPID, just “read me” ^. ^)
A. Merge Marksmanship xii trait with grandmaster minor trait.
the " opening strike" concept is one of core values of marksmanship trait. but it has very little meaning if you don’t use the xii trait ( xii Remorseless Regain: Opening Strike whenever you kill a foe or gain stealth.) the only point of “opening strike” is to apply vulnerability and 1 critical damage during entire combat, considering a long-haul boss fight, the contribution of opening strike is next to nothingness. To consider there are three minor traits all about opening strike, what a waste!
merge it with grandmaster minor trait won’t make rangers op, only make the opening strike more useful
B. pets and spirit move faster, more responsive and durable without being traited
to consider rangers’ damage also includes pets’ damage, but pets always move too slow to contribute their due function. This is a vital point when you doing spvp. in most situation , pets can’t hit any moving players, because they move too slow and attack too slow.
the other point of pets can’t provide proper damage is they die too easily, at instance many bosses/mobs have powerful aoe and it easily ko most of pets ( except bears), and pets can’t do evade as players do, so only thing you can see it ranger dragging a dying pet fighting boss for the most of event.
last, their response issue, this problem is big on both pets and spirits, but spirits are much more worse, it takes 2-3 sec for them to use their active skills, and those skills are too small area and you can’t locate it by point, which is found very hard to use.
so, my suggestions are, buff pets movement speed 20% faster without being traited ( does not stack with other speed boon).
pets and spirits have 50% aoe damage reduction without being traited
pets f2 and passive skill and spirits’ active skills act faster, spirits’ skill can be located. without being traited.
C.buff bows, both their functions and strength
as icon weapons (rangers should to “range” attack, right? :P), I found that bows damage is not as promising as I expected. I don’t have too much to say on buffing bows’ damage. but only if arena net can give shortbow *2 skill stealth function, it would be more interesting.
well, at last, PLEASE REMOVE SWORD *1 SKILL ROOTING ISSUE, PLEASE

my Wishlist for Ranger changes in 2014:
Pet
1st Wish =all pets move 20% fast without being traited
2nd Wish = aoe damage reduction 50% without being traited (in wow it is 90% aoe reduction)
3rd Wish =f2 skills more responsive
4th Wish =pet can be deactivated during combat, if ranger does so, his/her damage increased by 25%
Weapons
1st Wish = SOLVE SWORD SKILL *1 ROOTING ISSUE ( YES I CALL IT AN “ISSUE”)
2nd Wish = short bow skill*2 apply stealth
3rd Wish =all bows damage increase 10% without being treated
Trait system
1st Wish = marksmanship *xii trait become automatically active when you unlock grandmaster tier of marksmanship
2nd Wish = redesign entire beastmaster trait line
3rd Wish =change spirit life bar as warriors banners’ life bar, or buff their aoe reduction 50% without being traited
Utility Skills
1st Wish = reduce survival skills’ cd without being traited 10% ( except entangle)

The new items (I’m guessing you mean the heroic ones) were added to attract new players. Kinda like buying a car and then a few months later it comes with extra accessories for the same price.
You can buy the armor in the gem store though.
when it came out “legacy armor” I thought it meant the “heritage armor” from hall of monument which only gw1 players are eligible to claim. (sigh)

Main-hand sword
I just want to clarify for good that main hand sword is currently working as intended. All movement skills cannot be interrupted by dodging and this is currently intentional. It has a very specific play style, and I would like it to remain. I understand that rangers want a one handed melee option that is more mobile, but that will have to wait, as I know there are a mix of players who also like how this weapon plays and I do not want to take away one of the more unique playstyles that we have and replace it with something that is fairly common.I just had a wacky idea that might make some aspects of MH sword less frustrating. I’ll test it out when I get in to work and report back.

I understand you are just kidding, but rooting is one side but you can’t interrupt yourself is another side. when you under sword skill 1’s slash and kick, you can’t use second skill ( like serpent strike ) until it finished, not even dodging.
well, I am not asking anet to correct it as " bug" or some, I just like to clarify it cos it is concerned my legendary plan.
I noticed that “new” deluxe digital edition has some new stuff, some of them are quite eye-catching, like the medium legacy armor.
But I am an “old” deluxe digital edition user, is there any possibility to “claim” these new stuff? or do I have to “upgrade” again in order to get these armor skin?
Hey guys, I know it has mentioned by many players many times. But I still wish to clarify what is anet idea regarding to rangers’ rooting problem of sword skill? Is it designed as it is to root ranger when they cast sword skill ( skill 1) or just a bug which has been ignored by anet for over one year?
I love the sword because it has cool moves and powerful with many off hand weapons, but the rooting problem is way annoying when you need to dodge or move around your enemies’ attack. and it is not quite effective even when you do sword skill 1 manually.
And if anet said it is their intention to do, hen I am afraid I have to change my legendary weapon plan to other option. -.-
yea thats the point why i stopped playing my ranger for now.
currently i’m running a beastmaster/precision build with excessive use of quickening zephyr. my hits really suck and dont hurt much but I’m heavily relying on my pet damage. (its doing 10 times more autohitdmg than me)…

A) Well, as most of rangers can feel, pets without trait buffed move very slow, and there is more annoyed me, which is, they can’t attack when moving! If most of players’ skill can be cast while moving, why pets can’t do that?
This problem makes pets less useful in spvp in particular, as most of targets are moving constantly, what you can see what pets doing in spvp is: move to the target -> ready to attack -> target moves away-> move to the target ->ready to attck ->target moves away ………
B) Pets don’t evade and have damage reductions as players do, so why can’t just buff them for some aoe damage reductions? Due to they constantly die in the instances and WvW, most of rangers (myself and almost every rangers I know) only use bears. So, I believe if the designing team want rangers to use as many pets as they want. Please buff them for their survival.
The same situation also happens at all spirits, even with trait buffs spirit double life and can move with ranger, they still die too easily. Not to mention without buffs they just more useless.
C) F2 skills delay, this has been mentioned by other post. I only want to say it still have huge delay and less responsiveness even in the new patch. ( jelly fish’s f2 skill have bad responsiveness, f2 skills of stalker, fern hound, all kinds of drake, some wolves, arctodus has terrible delay around 2-3 seconds.
D) Bugs, blue moas’ “protection sreench” only works 4 seconds, when tool tips shows should be working for 10 seconds.
Pets’ names cannot be saved.
E) Some rangers’ bug: can’t move during sword skill 1, during ‘pounce’ ‘kick’ and ‘slash’ rangers can’t move or do dodge roll, also the ‘kick’ skill will force ranger back to the target.
Opening strike doesn’t correctly work in most cases, when I hit targets with opening, it doesn’t vulnerability as trait state, and it takes around 8-10 seconds for regain the boon after combat.
Entangle marked as ‘survival’ skill, but “wilderness survival” trait does not reduce its cooldown when it says “survival skill recharge 20% faster”
One last thing,
For the love of the Six, BUFF rangers’ longbow.

A fix for part b) is in the works. This should also help mitigate the issues of part c) since you won’t have to mash F2 so much, though I am also aware of this issue.
Part a) varies depending on each pet, so perhaps a list of the ones that are particularly troublesome could help to get them looked at =)
frankly, b) wan’t fixed properly I’m afraid, for example, jelly fishes’ whirl skill always have no response at all, you have to always count on your luck whenever you press f2 for its skill.
and for a), too many pets have their skill delays, like stalker’s mighty roar, it takes 3 second for buff works, and drake’s breath takes 4 seconds, fern hound’s regeneration takes 2 seconds, etc.
also the serpent strike skill sometimes does not strike on target properly, even when the target stand still.
The number 1 skill roots players, when the sword chain skills “slash” and “kick” are in use, players cannot move or roll, and even when players move away from target a bit, the chain skills will pull players back to melee range.
