So, i have played through all of the story lines for each race, i really enjoy the writing and the direction the game takes us in. What bothers me is not being able to play other more darker/evil factions.
I understand that it might take more resources than Anet wants to dedicate to personal stories, but i do not think i am the only one who wishes they could explore being an agent of the Inquest, or a devotee to Svanir, or a bandit.
I am just hoping that maybe there is a developer who might feel the same way, sometimes i want to be the bad guy in my fantasy game, or just play a darker side, as it is now the game seems to only allow shiny valorous heroes, i need more grit and grime in the game.
I am sure this topic is not a new one, so if others read it and agree post your ideas.
I don’t know about the other servers, but on Borlis Pass we have a huge disparity between those who want to protect what we have and those who want to “Karma train” aka Offense.
I like to do both, and in doing so i see why most prefer to Assault, its so much more lucrative to attack attack attack. This makes for the endless loop we get where the other servers come along and retake what we just took.
There needs to be a better incentive to hold keeps, towers, and even camps. Right now if i runt he Karma train i can get a WXP level in about 30-45 mins, if i was to sit and defend a keep it would take hours to get one.
So i am hoping that others will contribute to this thread with other ideas to remedy this.
My idea is to have increasing rewards that progress the longer you hold and upgrade a keep, tower, camp. This would add incentive to those who prefer defending, and also make it a more worthwhile endeavor to stick with defense.
I also think there needs to be new tiers added to the upgrades menu on keeps, towers, camps. Maybe add in lieutenant that acts like a secondary keep lord, tower guard. Add in a siege repairing worker that will run around and repair siege that is damaged.
So i hope the rest of you find this subject as important as i do, i like to play both sides of the WvW coin and really wish holding Keeps, Towers, and Camps was a more worthwhile endeavor.
There are loads of filters “missing” from the TP.
It seems like the interface is at the lowest end of the priority list…
Yeah i totally agree, it just seems like with all of Anet’s “Teams” that the team that works on interface and other stuff like that would have seen such obvious issues.

Sorry this might seem like a very small issue, but why on Tyria can we not SORT by armor type (Light, Medium, Heavy) in the trading post ?
It can’t be that hard to add it into the game, i am so sick of having to look through hundreds of pages for armor that my character can’t wear.
Maybe others can add some minor issues that seem like a no brainer that should be in the game ?
The only true thing Anet could introduce to this game ( and any other RvR / WvW Type of MMO ) is to have Collision Detection. With the massive lag that already exists in WvW i doubt that it would be feasible.
Zergs work because of stacking and the ease of completely disorganized large groups.
If a developer really wants to limit the affects of zerg tactics Collision Detection really is the only way to do this.
By all means, go right ahead. I’ll be enjoying the fantastic new terrain we have to fight in.

I do not think Anet is even listening to us anymore, this just seems so nearsighted and i dunno for lack of a better word “irresponsible” how does the dev team put this out and think it would help the lower pop servers ?
It truly has me baffled, its almost like Anet decided that needed a Trials of Atlantis sort of fiasco, like Mythick decided was best for the population.
I am hoping that Anet realizes how slanted the PvP aspect of WvW becomes when A server controls all the buffs.
It is to early to tell if WvW as a game mode is broken atm. However, the PvP aspect of it is not very fun after the patch in my opinion. I really like receiving points on stomps but I feel that the buffs are a bit too much of an advantage to give to an entire server.
Yeah would be great to even just get a kill now, even better if one leads to a stomp, but alas, with greater numbers and greater stats staring us in the face its basically a morale destroyer for my server.
One thing this update did was make me play alot more PvE, i seriously dread getting a guild call to head to our BL, in fact i tend to just log off for 30 mins and go back to PvE.
I used to WvW 6 hours a day, now i don’t even bother hitting “B” anymore.
I really feel Devon should have retracted that comment with an apology to the community. It just comes across as arrogant and out of touch.
That being said, this recent update really goes to show how important a test server really is.
I find your post rather ODD, seeing as I am on FA which has a MUCH higher population than your match up we haven’t really seen zergs controlling the bloodlust. Often times there is only about 10 people from one server rolling around the bloodlust while the main forces ignore it and just go for PPT. The other servers don’t really seem to care too much about it either to send more than 15 people ever.
While i appreciate that you do not have this issue on your match up, with ours it is a glaring advantage for the server with the larger and more numerous Zergs. If you can field 3-5 30+ man zergs and you know if you hold all three borderlands bloodlust zones your entire realm will get +150 to there stats, don’t you think it would be simple for that server to do just that ?
I know i would take advantage of those lopsided zerg numbers and compound it with even more lopsided stats.
Again, i am not blaming SBi for doing just this, what i do not understand is that Anet has in the past been more on the side of less zerging, now it seems like a huge shift towards “Zerg more and we will reward you”.
My Question: Are you, the developers wanting us to move to servers with larger zergs ?
I am very serious about this question, i feel that this is the intention of this patch to encourage players to move off of lower pop servers to the ones that field 5+ 30 man zergs, at the same time.
I am seriously at a loss as to the intent of the WvW update. I played it for a few hours but could not get over how slanted this patch is in favor of the server with the largest zergs.
I play on Borlis Pass, we are currently matched with SBi and they undoubtedly have a huge number advantage over our population. I do not begrudge SBi for there numbers, not in any way. In fact i know if BP could field that many zergs i would be pleased as a peach. We can’t and we probably never will.
Now with the bloodlust buff SBi now has almost +150 to there stats at all times, so not only does SBi have massive numbers, all of there zergs are superman armies that crush us with barely any effort. I know that this might come across as whining, i agree it has a definite whine aspect, but its a serious issue. Before we had a semi decent chance to outmaneuver our opponents with the number advantage. Now its takes 5 or more of us to kill off just a 3 man group, and dont even talk about even numbers of zergs, its like our attacks are hitting brick walls and SBi’s are hitting naked babies.
Is the intent of WvW to just zerg ? Are numbers the only thing that matters anymore in WvW ? Was this really the vision that Anet has decided to move towards ?
Please, i really want to know so i can decide what server i should move to.

As for all those who were offended by going 30 into blood, there are some players who are not 100% selfish in there play style and feel taking along support for the party is actually helpful.
If my goal of max condition DPS is met by 30 points and i have a whole other trait line to go down, why not take skills that benefit myself and my party ? Instead we get the selfish players who think in just solo play terms, and not group makeup. Expecting a guard or another player to always worry about your glasscannon build just goes to prove the point of that mentality.

I think i nice fix would be when you are using a GTAOE skill when you press the skill the large AOE target pops up so we see it and once you release the button/keypress it then goes off. So for a split second you would see the large targeting cursor, and for those who want they can hold down the key longer to have more precision.
This would make the whole mess of never seeing your small lil arrow cursor prior to attacking.
This thread needs more Dradiin/Archer.
Oh well Archer thinks everyone needs to just 1v1 and if you dont then you suck and your whole server sucks. With the exception that e-dorks get to zerg, portal bomb, or whatever else they deem as bad playing on other servers.

Actually I didn’t play last week I was still deployed just got back past Sunday.
I don’t doubt we’ll enjoy it more im just extremely disappointed in BP, when we came up through the ranks you didn’t worry about anything other than fighting we just overwhelmed you with numbers… but you guys guys would fight anyone and everyone.. now your camping a zerg in our BL instead of looking for a fight… It looks well gutless.
edit: If you guys came through took everything and then went after ebay… no big deal.. its the camping us that rubs me the wrong way.
Why does DR give Ebay a pass when they do the exact same thing ?
Why is BP denigrated for the exact same tactics as Ebay but your silent towards them ?
Even worse was when DR and Ebay would run past each other and not attack then attack BP towers/keeps, and about 2 hours later you would see DR all turn green.
I don’t care if your gonna double team BP, thats part of the game, but the fact that DR allows Ebay to just walk all over them after double teaming BP just looks pathetic.
Oh well enjoy having your lower tier DR i think you backed the wrong server.
So i originally had this really long tirade about how DR sucks up to Ebay, but its really not worth the effort. If DR wants to be puppets that is their choice and i wont begrudge them for it.

You know absolutely nothing about Ebay. Ebay was never known for 24/7 coverage, not even close. Even when we were a solid t4 server we had maybe two oceanic guilds lol and no day crew at all besides one guild. The fact you direct people who are superior in open combat to sPvP is hilarious, it’s kind of like saying “we can’t compete in terms of skill, so go find it elsewhere”. WvW isn’t just about sieging, in fact you can play it how you want, so whats wrong with embracing your pvgating methods? I don’t care if you do, but it certainly doesn’t mean you are superior in any way. So where is the whining? Yeah all servers pvgate at some point, but Ebay has never bragged about it, and called it “smashing”. Get over yourself. Stick to your trebs, while I stick to smashing your teammates in the open field.
While i normally do not single out the small minded in threads, fact of the matter is, your playstyle does not fit WvW, and your expectations of others to fit your playstyle, is small minded.
If i want small little battles of 5v5 1v1 or what ever other number combination pops into your head, i would find that in SPvP.
Ebay right now is losing, WvW is about PPT not kittening who can roflstomp others in a 1v1. WvW is about large scale battles with siege and towers. Just because this matchup does not fit into your view of WvW utopia does not relegate BP as a bad server, it just shows how petty you can be.

You do get small amounts of tokens from story mode, they’re in those bags.
I have never received tokens from doing story mode, in the bags you get coins and 400 Karma vial.
After we destroy the 6 Graveling mounds we move on to the gather 5 scepter pieces event.
This entire time the game has been running 40-50 FPS, nice smooth and ZERO complaints. Hodg runs in and the 5 piece event starts as soon as i go up the stairs and enter the large room the game drops from a nice steady 40-50 FPS to like 5-10, its godawful and so far it is very duplicatable (is that a word?).
I have done this run 4 times now, and its the same thing in the same area, with every player in all 4 runs, its not isolated to me, it is the same with others, with various other video cards.
So not only is this a dangerous area… Stalkers with there KnockBack Spam and Scavengers with there KnockDown, we now have another enemy… the Lagling.
I am assuming this was not intended, but if so it was not in the path notes.
-New Graveling creature added to Ascalon Catacombs, The Lagling, this creature is invisible and will create a slow almost slideshow effect making the massive amounts of other creatures demolish you. To avoid the Lagling, purchasing a $30,000 Cray developer system is suggested.
Can we please get an update about the huge FPS hit all of are taking in AC now ?
I don’t mind the changes but its is extremely obvious something changed int he dungeon that is affecting Frames Per Second.
The mobs in Howling King fight really aren’t much of a problem either. If you pull them into the flame circles that appear on the ground they die almost instantly.
They should die instantly. That is the power of the flame scepters! Hodgins sure is useful isn’t he?
Was it the intention of making AC Bosses just about ranged attacks now ? Used to be a great dungeon for melee, now its ranged or die.

You need to go tot he support forums and ask for assistance there also. They tend to “try” to help there more then the ticket system.
I donmt know about everyone else, but ive had about 8 dungeon runs today, with I would say 10 different people in about 3 or 4 different groups.
Now, today the dungeons, im talking fractals and AC and Arah seemed Waaaay much harder to me and my companions than they normally have been over the last month. We couldent put our finger on it but we wrre getting downed more often and even wiping on some occasions.. Now ive run ac sooo many times and i regurlarly take at least 2 low levels in a group of 80’s with me to teach them the dungeon. Ive also 2 manned Ac before all 3 paths with a gaurdian friend and myself (warrior).Today was really really hard, we couldent understand it.. We were all level 80 on all occasions.
Now have classes been nerfed or mobs buffed in instances in general? Bosses seemed unchanged im talking all the trash mobs me and my friends like to kill for loot. I play a warrior but we had mostly all classes in our groups today at some point.
Ha sanyone noticed this today? Or do you think someone or afew people just were having a bad day and wernt playing to full potential? What i mean is have you guys expereinced ramp up in difficulty for trash mobs in instances today??
The only things i can see that have changed is wvw bonuses as everything reset. I did upgrade my accessorys and i chose something different to ptv but after arah i did a grenth trip and slotted equisite saphires in the ptv accesorys i bought and nothing changed.
Well if you are having loads of downed players, that’s players thinking of playing in the dungeons like they used to be prior to the corpse run mentality. Meaning, Glass Cannoobs. If the fights seem to be taking too long then that’s players who realized that they could not be just Glass Cannoobs anymore and went completely the opposite direction. The key to a good dungeon group is balance, but finding that is not as easy as it once was.
I have seen players level 40 ish not dying or getting downed in AC and level 80’s just gettting downed all the time. In my opinion if they want level 80’s just post it and be done with it otherwise kicking people without telling anything its very rude (not the best example but its like feeling you work without getting paid). I think that with more people asking level 80’s maybe its better to make all dungeon level requirement lvl 80 because a low level will never get into a group…
Sorry but lvl 38 is too much. I’d kick you too if I were still running that. I don’t care what you claim you’ve seen but a lvl 38 thief is not going to have the survivability, ability set, traits or even the dmg to contribute in any meaningful way to a team.
If level up is what you are after it’s far faster simply just to solo explore the world map doing heart and events.
If tokens are what you are after and you still want that exp boost then just use your lvl 80 and ask for permission to switch to your lvl 38 before boss.
The one thing that’s truly rude and frankly simply not efficient is to show up with a lvl 38 in a team of all 80s and expect them to carry you through the whole dungeon, which let’s not kid ourselves is the only way you’d be able to go through that dungeon with that setup not to mention it would take longer than if you just simply used the 80 and switched to your other char before boss.
Honestly i can almost always outperform most 80s on my lower level alts.
A lot of players still treat dungeons like they were prior to the last big update. While yes there should be an emphasis on DPS, these players do not realize they can’t run back constantly once they die. Players need to rethink there specs now in dungeons a more balanced approach would help considerably.
This snotty bias against players at a lower level is ridiculous and just shows the inherent lack of a dungeon finder does to grping for new players. Alienating and giving a very bad impression of how the game should be played for new players.
Why even set a minumum level if those at the minimum level are never allowed to play in the dungeon…. a dungeon finder could allow for grps of differing level brackets get into and experience these dungeons the way they are setup to be played.
If dungeons were made just for level 80’s then the devs need to tune them accordingly and just not allow access to anyone but a level 80. This is a direct fault on the devs allowing for this to have even been conceived.
I’ve always liked games that let you set limits on #of high detail characters rendered, allow auto use of LOD meshes, and setting distance for LOD meshes to kick in.
Games have had these options for years. Along with particle slider, I am amazed that options like these are missing from the game.
I do not think i can agree with you more, this was such a short sighted design choice.
I would really like to see how many they actually sell – 3 mill gw2 sold and the retention rate is so so poor and so few playing now.
It would be very interesting to see the stats. There is no way I would ever give Anet another dime of my money and i know there are lots out there like me.

Culling is produced mainly server-side not on your Client.
So the change you suggest would not make any meaningless difference, besides Anet is already doing exakt this by using Fall-Back-Models.
So umm not sure i understand, if Anet is doing exactly this then wouldn’t my premise for my OP be in line with what needs to be done to fix the issue ?
Meaning maybe culling is done client side, your computer tells how many avatars are culled from your view based on its performance ?
Fall-Back-Models would kind of back up my argument.
For those of us who enjoy WvW and would love to have larger populations in the game fighting against each other. I was curious if you all would prefer really low lower textured and semi uglier character avatars over the current system of culling and invisible characters.
Honestly i would rather see all of my enemies no matter how blocky or low poly they might be, over not seeing alot of them and pretty faces i want to smash.
So i would ask the players for input here.

I run AC alot, I like to consider myself fairly competant when doing this dungeon. Kholer can be hard for those who don’t know his tell. I know it and prior to the last large update I almost never missed a dodge of his AE.
For the past week I have run AC well over 15 times. Almost every kholer encounter I have missed dodging his pull 2-3 times per encounter. There are some when he does his charge up I will dodge and still it fails, other times he will spin without even doing his pull.
Was this purposely added in? Or was a bug introduced? Or did I just develop suck syndrome. ?
Correct me if I am wrong, a warrior has to give up alot of defense to get the huge dps?
The only problem about more randomness would be the fact that people would still complain. Dailies are fine as is and so is monthly. Since the launch of the game I have yet to complete a monthly due to the fact i did not like something. So instead of complaining i just did not do it, plain and simple.
Totally agree with this, no matter what, Anet will manage to kitten off someone who will then come here and post about how they dislike it in someway.
If the Dailies and Monthlies were random, someone would ask that they all be the same because they can’t grp together with there guildmate to complete them.
It is a choice to decide to do the dailies, no one is forcing you or anyone else to complete them.
Just like it is a choice to acquire Legendary weapon skins.
I do not feel forced into doing any of these things, if i want the reward for there completion then i will work on completing it.

There is no grind for legendaries; you are supposed to get them over the course of several months with gold and loots you save.

You need 30 gold at best for the exotic set, and that gold can be aquired by simply completing maps and selling rewards you get.

No grind is required for this either, ascended rings come from daily fractal, amulet comes from daily laurels.

Hmm i have over 200mbs downloaded and its showing 0% downloaded and thats 5,700+ files to go.
Why is my file amount so large ? this seems like i am downloading the entire client again.
Is there a reason as to why the patch size is not displayed ?
Some of the players (like myself) have metered internet, knowing how large the patches are prior to downloading would be extremely helpful.

This morning i ran a few AC runs then logged off, my daughter has 2 alts on my account but i grilled her and she did not even know what Gems was for.
I get back on about 8 hours later and all of my gems are completely missing. Even the small odd amount that cant be used in the gem store thats over 1400 are missing.
The last transactions i made show what i used gems for int he past, there is nothing new added to this.
I am not sure what else to do, my Email is secure (change the PW weekly) my account password is changed as of 3 minutes ago.
I do not feel i have been hacked because all of my assets other than gems is intact and i would assume those would be gone also if i was hacked. They would amount to well over 300 gold.
If i can get some sort of assistance i would appreciate it.
Am i wrong assuming every transaction pertaining to gems is tracked ?

The community barely tolerates your choice to play certain classes. Basing anything on that is ridiculous.

This is an MMO, which everyone likes to say when defending the “fact” that VP is necessary.
If you want to play with other people, you’re going to need to be competitive. When certain classes aren’t recognized by the community as valid or viable, they get adjusted by the developers. In fact, many developers use that as a primary metric when deciding which classes need adjustments.
If this was truly the case, can you please explain Engineers then ?
