I do not think for even one second i suggested to “REMOVE” RNG, my issue with it is that the RNG implemented for this game falls on the crap side of things mroe often than the decent, good, or great side of things.

Anet has clearly shown that they can easily manipulate the results of RNG, i think this manipulation has been pushed over to the “Give them poo” side of the scale.

So as i stated in my OP, i will do so in kind when it comes to my “appreciation” towards Anet.

Umm i still do not see how culling has anything to do with this thread, i commented on it only our of courtesy to the poster who mentioned it. Not even in that post does it say culling will no longer exist at all, its being worked on.

My OP was a light hearted way to express my displeasure about the overused RNG mechanic Anet has hoisted upon us in this game. I disagree with it, and so therefore i will show my support for the game in the same way Anet has shown its disregard for its player base by forcing it on us.

Culling, while a bad mechanic, and exploited even further by Thieves in WvW, was not implemented to curtail how the players played, it was done to facilitate better frame rates in large scale engagements. So no, i do not find it easy to compare the 2 issues, nor do i think culling should be discussed more in this thread.

Thanks to everyone else who commented about my RNG for Anet idea though.

My leveling scheme…

All 5 beginner areas map complete takes you to around level 28-30.
If not 30 then Craft to 30. (Lots of guides on reddit for crafting to max with very little investment.)
Run AC story mode once every 2 hours while doing map completions until you hit level 35. Once at 35 run all 3 paths, use gw2lfg.com for grping. Space out your runs so that each path is 2 hours apart, can even run them under 2 hour mark for just 20 tokens but still decent exps.

Once you get this pattern down and are familiar with gw2lfg.com then wash and repeat with all the dungeons that become available at level 40, 50, 60, 70.

Following this way with a few maps complete can get you to 80 very fast in comparison to map completion only. I use this method for my alts i am leveling.

The key to all of this is gw2lfg.com, since Anet has dragged there feet making a dungeon finder you will waste loads of time trying to get a grp spamming in the dungeon map area or Lions Arch.

One thing, this will get very dull and make the game seem boring, i do it because it is the most lucrative way to level an alt, and for me the quickest.

The problem is not with warriors, it`s with people playing the other classes badly. Warrior is a lot harder to be bad with.

Necros and Rangers can be good but I`m not gonna take one in my party if I can get a warrior, just a lot less risky. Teach people how to play if u want more diversity.

Grinding? what grinding? If you level up and 100% all high level maps, you will have enough money to buy, not 1 but 2 full sets of exotic gear and weapons. I’m not even counting all the karma that you can get by simply doing dailies.

Are you talking about legendaries? Because if you are, i’m going to laugh at you. Or is it some specific weapons from the mystic forge? Those items are there to appeal to the hardcore players and people that play a lot. In their game’s announcement, they clearly mentioned they would appeal to both casual and hardcore players, people that like MMO and that don’t like MMO.

This game grinding is non existent, even less than some single player games i played.

I would not be surprised if DR was affecting salvaging. You cannot expect to have a decent chance at acquiring wealth or value from your efforts in this game. It has been made abundantly clear that wealth is only for scamming gold sellers, or those who were allowed to amass large sums of gold at the beginning through exploits.

TP flippers are trumped by the massively wealthy who control large quantities of commodities and rare items.

So yes sigil and runes are harder to get from salvage. Better start buying them now and saving for the future.

GRIND, we all were told this game was designed for no grind, that’s wholeheartedly false.

How can this be reduced in this games current form?

Is the perceived grind just an exxageration? If so how can this perception be adjusted?

Do we as gamers feel the Devs see our point of view on this?

Umm you can sell the dye if you do not use it. ID it then you have a choice, keep it, or sell it/give to alt.

You can’t keep it then sell it after using it.

Please understand, just because we put this limitation in to stop the RMT spam, does not mean we are not working on the greater issue.

We wanted to get this change in to put an immediate stop to the spam while other teams are working on addressing the rest of the problem.

I dunno about others, I would have a better understanding and feeling of trust if we could get some sort of plan of action we can refer to.

Almost all the time I either can’t get this to invite others to a grp by R.clicking the name in chat, or i can’t join a grp by R.clicking.

There are sometimes this works but 9 out of 10 it fails.

Is this because i have a long connection from a remote village in Alaska ? or am i missing some other thing.

Also, this is in same map on same server (not overflow).

I think this all coincided with an infraction I received from a post where I was accused of “calling out” an Anet response. When I received this infraction I sent a pm contesting the infraction stating there was no grounds of a callout.

I got a reply, and I got the above email from NCSOFT.

Maybe I am reaching here but after some thought, they kind of go hand in hand.

If I could get a confirmation that my surmation is indeed correct or incorrect I would be very pleased with the information.

The NC support account and GW2 support account actually use the same account and send the same email with just minor differences.

If the link was http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/account/setup_password/…, it was from GW2 support.
If the link was https://help.ncsoft.com/app/account/setup_password/… it was from NC support.

The email is only sent if they’re trying to contact you, for whatever reason. If you manually make an account, you can put in whatever email you want and they don’t even bother confirming it. They don’t even bother sending you an email confirming that an account was made, so if someone was trying to make an account in your name, they would have already done so. Phishing a support account is pointless anyways, since proof of ownership and identity is required to do any harm.

I know this, if you had read what i stated above then you would know i read the email from NCSOFT support and proceeded to delete it. I came here to let others know about its creation, and possible way of scammers attempting to scam players from a new source.

The email originates from https://help.ncsoft.com. It’s like support.guildwars2.com but for NC accounts. If you send an email to support@ncsoft.com, they should automatically reply with that email.

The only other case I found mentioning the email is https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Support-Account-insists-I-don-t-exist/

Someone could have sent them an email with your return address, but the email you received would have had a legit link in it, like the one in the above thread. Maybe you accidently forwarded, replied or sent an email to them, or they found a ticket you made years ago.

Nope none of that, i have never had an issue with any of my NCSOFT accounts (even Auto Assault{miss you AA}). I have never interacted with NCSOFT support other than creation of accounts.

This did not come from me, or an error from me, this was unsolicited and random.

Funny i know it will seem odd, but i tend to make more cash from doing that event starting with Sancia not just Rantard (he is a kitten the Raider. All those resource bags that drop is crazy sauce. Once i had over 56 bags from one event sequence.

While others avoid it and complain i just feel like it is part of doing the dungeon, and i feel cheated if i don’t get to do it prior to going into CoF.

Of course i am one that likes to kill all the mobs along the way, i hate running through the Bridge in path1. I dunno maybe i am a glutton for punishment ?

No thats why i found it rather odd, i have not done anything with NCSOFT in over 2 years and that was with City of Heroes. The only connection to NCSOFT i have currently is with GW2.

Double check who sent you the email and through which pop server. Everything should have a link to either arena.net or ncsoft.com. Double check for fishy links such as (examples) cnsoft, soft-NC, arena.net.tk, ….
If you find a weird host address, TYPE it over without anything behind the .com to check whether the website is legit.

To log into your real account, just go to the official NC-soft website and log in from there. Anything you’d need to do because of the email can be done over the official website.

As far as i know i do not have an NCSOFT account anymore. Last game i played made by them was City of Heroes and that was well over 2 years ago. Does NCSOFT get an automatic account creation when we make a GW2 account ?

Other than GW2 i do not play any current NCSOFT associated games. Today i got a email from NCSOFT support stating the following….

So since i never did anything in over 2 years with an NCSOFT product (GW2 is an exception) I deleted the email and did nothing with it other than read it, my question is, should i be worried that the same scammers who tried to scam tons of GW2 players around the first 2 months, are they trying to do an end run using NCSOFT now ?

Unless you were converting them into gold I can’t imagine what you found in the gem store to spend that much on.

My daughter uses my account to play also, so i have extra character slots, bank slots, some i purchased more bag space, and yes lots of gems for potential gold conversion.

If i like a game thats B2P or even F2P, i show my support by spending a small amount equal to a subscription.

Both my wife and I have decent jobs, we are not in debt and we both play online games. Generally we play alot of online games because we live in Barrow Alaska and when its minus -40f or worse outside, with no shopping centers or even a movie theatre, well MMOs fill the entertainment slot quite nicely.

As i see it $15.00 a month is a pittance to the amounts of entertainment i get from this game and others like it.

LOL while its great that they made you happy about talking about fixing culling you might want to go back to that article and re-read it, they are not confirming that fix will be on the 28th, in fact they didn’t even state it would be removed completely, just that its getting worked on.

Anywho, i made this post mainly to show Anet how i like there game but the egregious use of craptastic RNG is forcing me to re-evaluate how i support them.

No, I’m thinking making a warrior/norn class but I see so many around so I just want to know what the big deal about them? are they very powerful when they reach level 80 or something?

They are an easy class to make Over Powered compared to others, they have the highest health pool, they can be tweaked to produce one of the highest burst damage, they wear some of the best looking armor and have access to some of the best looking weapons.

The females look hawt as a warrior, the males look amazing, some can squeeze out 16k or more spikes with 100blades.

If you are so new tot he game the easiest class to level would be Warrior with a very close second being the Guardian. Also some of those you think are Warr’s might just be a Guard.

Ok a lot of people really dislike the RNG we all have to suffer from in this game, i love the game but i am really tired of the horrible risk vs. reward this game has implemented.

So i was going to just spend 15.00 a month on gems in the gem store like i was paying a subscription, i have done this since release in my way of supporting the game.

Today i just had it…. 9 runs in 3 dungeons and i got 2 greens the rest blues, sure i know this is really bad luck, but i hate it, i hate feeling like i just wasted my time. I do not want to resent the game i play, but i do more and more.

So for xmas my kid got me a Giant glowing 100 sided dice (from thinkgeek.com i think) I decided i would RNG Anet, sure they make millions a day i bet, but this is my way of “sticking it to the man”.

Once a month i will roll my 100 sided dice, if that Dice does not hit 100 i will not buy any gems for the month. If i hit 100 i will then roll again to show how much i will spend. 1-80 $.5.00 / 81-99 $10.00 / 100 $20.00.

This is how i feel RNG hits me… generally i think i am being generous, but regardless its how i intend to show my support to Anet.

Maybe others will get on board with me ?

There will be a blog post in around week or so that summarizes the high level plan for the first 6 months of 2013 for Gw2.

Then each of the individual releases for January, February, etc. will have their own release pages on our website, as well as blog posts describing specific important new features where appropriate.

Is it too much to ask that we get ALL of the changes when you post the patch notes ? or will we have to wait to find out ALL the changes as they are gradually found…. like small dmg reductions to certain skills, random stealth nerfings, random stealth buffing of bosses, random things that affect the game that you decide we do not need to know about for some odd reason.

So clearly i need to research every inane thing about this game prior to doing it because if i do not know every concept PRIOR to attempting it, it is my complete fault for not taking loads of time to go read every aspect of the game not matter how insignificant or important that might be.

Clearly asking for a simple pop-up telling a player that any items/influence in your guild, even if i am 1 out of 400+ members, is too hard for people to understand this.

I am quite aware in less than 7 days i can hop back over to my old server and get everything back, i just do not understand why there is not a notification for guild leaders ?

Guess it my bad for not taking hours upon hours to read about every little detail about this game prior to doing something in it.

The only mistake you made is not having an understanding of how guilds function in GW2. This is a rather common mistake because it is different from how most games orchestrate guilds. Guilds exist outside of servers and are available to any player on any server, but all upgrades, influence, active buffs, guild vault, etc are server specific.

There is no warning because technically nothing in your guild changed. Your guild didn’t transfer to the new server. Guildes are game-wide and don’t exist on only a single server.

Ok even with the knowledge of this, how does this negate the fact that there is no warning about this happening prior to a server change ?

Am i asking for something that is too difficult to do ?

I would test it with full MF gear on…. that seems to be a difference, i refuse to wear my MF gear in grps anymore but i swap it on when i decide to do some savaging of rares/exotics.

It doesn’t remove all those things, those things just stay in the vault on the server you WERE on.

People have been making posts about the fact that influence and such things don’t transfer with you for a while now.

My problem is not that i have to transfer back…. its the fact that there is no WARNING prior to making the decision to do this.

No not everyone decides that the logical conclusion of an action taken in game is STUPID or BROKEN or even UNDOCUMENTED.

Do you go to the forums and search for posts about what will happen when you switch from one weapon set to another ? NO, and why would you ? You along with 99% of the rest of us go under the logical assumption that everything will be fine.

Apparently logic escapes certain individuals who create some of the games systems.

If this is a natural game mechanic, why is there nto a simple popup notifying the user of the consequences of this ? If a guild leader is transferring servers would it not behoove Arenanet to have a simple script that pops up when this is attempted ?

I have never messed around with leading a guild in GW2, it was never anything i really cared to worry about. I was in LA reading chat and the conversation went to having a “pocket guild” as a way to increase bank slot space. So after a few questions i had asked were answered i made my own guild.

The meat of the problem is i recently decided to move to another server. I felt the one i was on was lacking the play style i wanted . I wanted to do this before Guesting was implemented and was still free. So i make the plunge and woot i am on my new server.

And then when i run to LA and the guild vault i had so painstakingly created and filled with goodies and hard fought gold, i was assaulted by the fact that ALL of it was gone, no items, no gold, no influence.

No warning, like “Proceeding with server transfer will remove all items, currency, and influence gained on current server” NOTHING to warn me i might have just made a gigantic mistake.

Oh sure, you all might say, Dradiin, you are dumb, why didn’t you read about it on the forums. Or what ever other kind of burn or slight you might fit into here. How am i supposed to know there is an issue with this situation prior to it happening ?

This needs to be remedied so others who might have alot more players to be affected by this, are warned away from this decision.

If i had even the slightest knowledge of this happening, would i have proceeded to do this ? NO.

I am a 1 person guild, what happens to those guilds with 100+ why is this oversight even here without it not being addressed MONTHS ago.

I read your post, all of it, but i disagree in getting rid of the feature. The other night i had the displeasure of doing a dungeon pug with a person who i had the misfortune of grping with before. This guy thought it was ok to just stand in the hallway while the rest of the grp took on mini bosses and cleared trash mobs. He did it the first time i grped with him and started to do the exact same thing.

Now if we did not have the vote kick option, the grp would basically be down 1 man for the entire dungeon, at least by kicking the offensive player the toxic environment he was creating can be remedied.

I feel the only thing Anet needs to do is making vote kicking majority rules, so instead of the minority (2) the vote needs the majority (3 or 4).

I got a perfect example for this, when i play my guardian and i am fighting Kholer i almost try to avoid getting him lit on fire because once i do i can’t see his dumb pull tell he has, this results in me getting wrecked over and over… while normally i do not die from this (have around 10% health left). I hate all the crap thats is on him that i can barely tell when he is about to KITTEN the grp.

Maybe implement something with the target window at the top of the screen ? Flashes red,green, blue, magenta, purple….. something.

250 stacks are fine as they are

i save them for my alts all progressing towards 80, i do dungeons more then just for the tokens… mostly for gold.

Its 6 stacks of tokens for a full suit of armor, i guess i could use the tokens now when they are lower level, but one i am not sure if you can buy the pieces from the LA vendors if yer not level 80.

Ok so i run dungeons alot, i have several alts i am growing so i hold on to most of the tokens i get from dungeon runs.

Because of the limited stack size of each token i now have an entire bank slot filled with them, and just started another.

Is there anyway this could be fixed ? Stack size increased to 500, or 750 ?

Making them a collection would not help since that would just decrease them by 1 stack each.

Run across the exact same mobs 1 will have no bonus then 2 will have then none on the next 3 then bonus on a different mob.

It seems random, maybe some can explain it?

I love playing in pugs with low levels, i purposely ask for sub 80 players. Pugging with level 80 snobs is just dull, every time i get lower level players its a new experience, i find new ways for an event to get haywire, leaving me with more experience on how to deal with those situations in the future.
