Did the previous closing of the thread make it look like you could not comment?
Was hoping for some others input, maybe some other ideas to fix the vote kick ?
Hi everyone,
I see people complain a lot about how “heavy handed” the moderation of these forums is. All we can say is that “moderation happens for a reason”. Of course, no one is happy when infracted. I really believe that no one or almost no one posts with the intention of being infracted yet it happens, because some way or another that post or thread was against the forum CoC. Errors happen, that is for sure. The moderator team is, after all, a human crew – despite the belief that we are some kind of cruel automatic machine that infracts at will.
It is also said that we close complain threads and only leave positive threads open and answer in those. Allow me to tell you, that is false. The crude truth is that complain threads usually are not properly composed (meaning, non-constructive, bad words, attacks (You name it). We understand the frustration behind those posts, but that doesn’t mean we can leave them be. A complain thread can show frustration, but it also can be well composed with evidence, with data, with something we can forward to the team rather than “OMG Anet you sux game bugged” (dramatization, please don’t be offended). And anyway, and unluckily, those threads tend to derail very fast.
Let’s put an example, Halloween had some very serious disconnection problems – amongst others. Those of us who were on shift and had to deal with them tried our best to gather all complains under one thread, keeping those posts that were worth it and removing those that werent. Another closer case, yesterday we had a disconnection problem that fixed fast. Again we tried to gather all related posts in a thread while cleaning those who didn’t really add much. As said above, we can sometimes be wrong, and we are sorry. That is why we forward you to a direction, so you can write an appeal.
To sum up, we have to live by the CoC code – which let me remind you, you can find in the main page – does this mean we enjoy bashing on the players? Not at all, but if we happened to not be strict, this would become the Wild West. We enjoy constructive discussion; we even encourage constructive discussion, but understand that some requirements are in order.
Thanks for your understanding.
Can you please explain to me why my thread asking about adjusting the Vote kicking procedures was in any violation of what you have stated above?
I made sure to check and re-check my post before i hit save, there was NO VIOLATION.
If you guys feel the need to close threads, please give a better reason for it, unless you like the reputaion that it brings making us think you are exactly what you said you are not in the above quote.
Developers, can you please change one minor aspect to vote kicking in grps ?
Instead of 2 players needed to kick another make it a majority vote of 3 ?
The other day i was in AC against Kholer, normal fight but i think i had a dog hair in my mouse lens. Regardless while i was flailing about i inadvertently right clicked on a grp members name and in rapid succession hit vote to kick. I was mortified when someone just out of knee jerk reaction seconded it and the guy was removed.
Needless to say i sent off an apology to him, sent him a reinvite, and then mailed him 20 silver for his troubles.
While this was innocuous and not spiteful, i have read several threads on these forums about jerks abusing this function. Like downing boss and getting kicked while watching the movie, or before rewards are handed out. Getting kicked in FoTM for no reason.
This is turning into griefing, it needs just a small adjustment, 3 players to kick another.
Simple fix that would make alot of players happy.
(Edited for the moderator below)
I always make sure that if i have a serious suggestion to put it in the suggestion forum. Maybe my wording was not appropriate. Thank you mod for reopening it.

Please just go to the hundreds of trinity based games available and play them. Why the one game that is not trinity has to be changed is just mind boggling.
If I wanted a WoW clone I would be playing one.
My biggest issue with my hate towards the TP is the fact that the developers have said they adjust drop rates based on the TP.
Drop rates SUCK.
Find it easier to do the last 20-30 levels in AC and TA exclusively, then when my alt reaches level 80 i have enough tokens and gold for full suit of Exotic armor and weapons. The runes and the trinkets are the expensive part, but you can slowly buy them as you progress.
Yes this is boring way to level the last part, but if yer determined to get to 80 it is surely one of the fastest and more lucrative.
(edited by Dradiin.8935)
Everything i have on my Toons that are 80 are exotic’s. This is really not a very difficult thing to achieve.
Running AC for tokens is super easy, Running CoF for tokens is also fairly easy. So from those you get decent weapons and decent armor ( AC armor is KITTENugly ).
Players running MF gear in dungeons are just plain selfish and think of just themselves and not the grp. I had over 180 MF gear and i never felt it helped me get better loot from anything, thus i stuffed it in my bank for the last 2 months.
People not in exotics at level 80 are just lazy or not very knowledgeable of the game.
Congratulations, wild claims win again. Suppose someone wants Soldiers gear for every armor slot. Before the dungeon ring patch, the only way to get Soldier’s accessories was from WvW. Suppose that person did not like WvW, and/or did not want to use other accessories that did not give Soldier’s stats. That person is now lazy? Nightmare coil used to sell for 25g. For that money I could be halfway towards another set of exotic gear, which can completely change up my playstyle and therefore refresh the sense of fun in the game, according to you, this is an undesirable course of action because everyone should definitely be exotic’d out first.
So this about runes ? you talked about Exotics, not specifics. I stated if someone was level 80 in dungeon runs not in exotics was lazy.
Wild claims? how is running AC or CoF several times a wild claim ? You act as if this is some impossible feat?
There are plenty of inexpensive runes on the TP that can be slotted to provide decent improvements to a newly minted 80.
If you want specific’s you need to phrase that. You didn’t so neither did i.
Whatever, blame me for pointing out the obvious.
I can tell you one thing for sure, i do not even bother with Jormag anymore, thats like asking if i want to watch paint dry.
What Anet did to jormag is just terrible, they took something fun and broke it into BOREDOM.
Sad that this seems to be the norm for there developing mentality now.
Fact of the matter is, if Anet wants me to buy stuff from there store they need to communicate more and in a better manner, and start backtracking to what they PROMISED in there manifesto.
1) Pug dungeons. I know, PUGs can be rough, it’s okay, you’re pugging as a means to an end, and that end is not the tokens or coin you’ll get along the way. You’re looking for people. People that you enjoy running with. I routinely find myself in PUGs that are actually guild groups that are short 1-2 members for a dungeon. Seek these groups out, and if you like one, ask aboint joining the guild. After all, they’re already doing things together.
Some hate PUGs, i look to them as dynamic challenges with the players adding to the dynamics.

Yes, i hate the trading post.
I hate it because it affects how the loot drops have been nerfed and trashed into garbage on top of garbage.
I hate the TP because it controls all of us.
I want the TP to be server only, not global.
I hate you TP because you are a catalyst for botters/goldfarmers to continue to abuse the population.
This game is so beholden to the TP, that its slowly becoming not fun to me anymore. Blizzard made this mistake with Diablo 3. ArenaNet seems to want to follow in its footsteps. Sad thing is even Blizzard realized (maybe too late for most) that loot needed to be fun and rewarding, it is not anymore in GW2.
I hate you Trading Post. You are ruining a game i loved.
All eyes
MMOs are what YOU make of them.
You will only get enjoyment from the effort you apply to the game.
I dont think Dradiin gets it.
Its that thing that World of Warcraft has. I call it the “it” factor. In WoW, when you swing your sword, turn the camera, hit another player, it is instant, the sound matches the animation and everything else. There is something about it that meshes perfectly. The map has a nice “click” sound when you open it. All of these little tiny things add up and I truly believe effect your brain. Blizzard did their research.
My main issue is that the camera turns a split second after you turn your character. Go ahead, fire up most MMOs. See how you can move your character around? Watch how he turns. Now log back into GW2. When you walk and turn the camera there is this tiny delay. It may not be noticeable for all, but its there.
HUH ? how do i not get it ?
I completely understand what the OP is talking about and the unrealistic assumption you think needs to be in this game.
You seem to think this is another game called WoW and it needs to be like that game, maybe you need to go play that game ?
Umm, I play from Barrow Alaska. My internet is poop compared to you. I do not have any lag. My ping is 600+. I will say this because you are crying over nothing.
Video game difficulty should not be something that goes beyond “reason”.
Guild Wars 2 difficulty is not measured by reaction, timing, position, and team work… it’s based on player base finding ways to exploit or find short cuts around bad design for some “cheese”.
GW2 battle design is BAD in general especially in dungeons. I’m willing to bet nobody at Anet has tested fractals at these levels or there would be “guides”. They just used some loopy algorithm to scale w/ the level and sit back and watch in amazement.
“Holy kitten, somebody got to Lvl 50, these guys are nuts!”
ever played really old games? Ping pong, pac man, tetris? The difficulty tends to be infinite. This is an infinite dungeon.
They’ll also release more asended gear during the year (they couldn’t because of the whole uproar), so just roam around until you get more gear against agony.
Now about dungeon exploits – it’s actually more damaging than rewarding. I hate groups that skip, because a) you’re missing out on the loot b) you make it really tough for squishies.
Also it IS based on reaction and skill. You know how easy it is to go down in a dungeon if you’re not tanking spec? That’s why you have to have a good dodging reaction. You can also use your skill to take down mobs 5 levels higher than you in PVE.My bad, I thought it was 2012-2013.
GW2 Dungeons/Difficulty and battle system are poor. It is what it is. They tried to shoehorn some things last minute to compete w/ Tera but it was contrived.
Bad design does not = difficult. It’s bad design. Period.
Wait ?
Anet is worried about Tera ?
GW2 is on the same level as Tera ?
How does one dungeon = bad design for the game ?
Amra I really don’t think you understand the concept. You can not steamroll low levels. I have 2 lvl 80s and while I have no problem with mobs at lower levels I am in no way steamrolling anything. The OP is right they claimed that you would be rewarded for your efforts, but if you get a lot less karma and the drops are blue lvl 20 (if in a 20 zone) lvl 80s have no real incentive to go back except for alts, with my alts I am not going for 100% world anymore so I skip 90% of content since it is really not worth it.
Why did you choose the starter area? Why would they make it so you could level the whole game there, completely messing up new players’s experiences? Try a higher zone, the starter ones are protected.
I think you are missing the point, if i am downscaled to level 7 and fighting level 7 creatures, i take the exact same risk as a level 7 player.
No, because you have a wider array of skills at your disposal, plus the trait bonuses. That’s why you don’t get the full amount.
Plus, the starter areas are protected, you don’t get the full amount there so they’re not full of high level groups steamrolling the entire areas because they get easy XP there.
Glad someone understand what i meant.
Why did you choose the starter area? Why would they make it so you could level the whole game there, completely messing up new players’s experiences? Try a higher zone, the starter ones are protected.
I have no idea what you mean by Starter zones being protected.
I think you are missing the point, if i am downscaled to level 7 and fighting level 7 creatures, i take the exact same risk as a level 7 player.
I think you do not understand what downscaling means, Completely messing up new players experiences ? The intent was to allow high level players to play with new players at there level.
I used the level 1-15 area to show how i did not receive any scaled to my level experience or loot. There should not be any difference where i am downscaled at. Weather it be 1-15 or 20-30.
Ok so I am going off of what i read from the Developers recently in the AMA replies to various threads and what was relayed to us repeatedly prior and during the BWEs.
I was under the distinct impression that when we played in low level areas we were downscaled but were still provided with level appropriate drops and experience. If i am downscaled, i take the same risk as other players at or around that downscaled level, with that in mind why do i get garbage i cannot really use at my level ?
I spent a bit of comparing on my level 58 Ranger…
Sparkfly Fen level 55-65
1. 55 Cave Spider 107 exps
2. 55 Moa 108 exps – lvl 54 bracer
3. 55 Mosquito 110 exps
4. 56 Marsh Drake 109 exps – 56 shoulder
5. 56 Marsh Drake 108 exps
6. 55 Slamoth 110 exps
7. 56 Cave Spider 110 exps
8. 56 Veteran Cave Spider 219 exps – 58 Masterwork Mace
9. 57 Risen Thrall 109 exps
10. 57 Risen Abomination 110 exps – 56 Axe
Level 57 Event 6,330 exps.
Plains of Ashford Levels 1-15
1. 10 Drake 65 exps -slab of meat
2. 10 Minotaur 65 exps – vial of blood
3. 11 Moa 66 exps – egg
4. 14 Skelk 68 exps – worn hide
5. 14 Veteran Skelk 137 exps
6. 14 Veteran Air Elemental 137 exps
7. 14 Spark 68 exps – glittering dust
8. 14 Skale 68 exps – lvl 7 leggings
9. 15 Rock Dog 70 exps – tiny fang
10. 15 Ogre Brute 70 exps – lvl 14 shoulders
Level 12 event 3,275 exps.
I dunno about what Anet intended, but if i am taking the same risk as other’s in the same area, i should be getting rewarded for the effort. I do not consider getting garbage items as reward for the effort. The exps should be closer to the level i am not almost 1/2 of what i get at my level of difficulty.
The items dropped from downscaled events and mobs should be scaled to my level.
If i am wrong, if i misunderstood, please show me where i was lead astray.
In its current state, other than getting 100% world completion or helping a friend out, i just do not see any point of going back to areas that are below my current level range. Also, once i get world completion on one alt, i really have no desire to do that again.
(edited by Dradiin.8935)
Rewards and drops are scaled to your level.
Umm while i respect your information…. map completion rewards DO NOT SCALE.
The point is super strength + high rate of crits. If the player knows how to handle his spec, then he should know when to hit hard, and when to retract to kite for a bit (because he accumulated too much aggro).
The idea behind a glass cannon is pretty good actually, it just requires a bit of finesse to pull it off effectively and continuously.
Also I don’t think the glass cannons are “actively” griefing their team. 10silver+ for amor repairs isn’t the way to go.
I believe the problem lies with how roles are assigned in the dungeons.
Who is supposed to keep an eye on the aggro, who is going to watch out for group conditions and drop in some support when needed, who is going to make sure that red bar keeps going down, etc…
In my opinion, part of the problem lies with ANet’s design, aka removal of trinity. I mean if you’re going to remove a major part of how groups in MMOs synergize because it’s dated is a GREAT idea….but if you leave that gap unfulfilled, then it is not revolutionary at all. It’s clumsy. Most players do not know what to expect from one another, and generally 95% of the dungeon strategies limits itself to “everyone DPS the boss fast!!!”… If the dungeons encouraged to assume a certain temporary role (each role giving a slight buff according what role is picked) then it could work very nicely. The other problem is running with PUGs. Sometimes you’re lucky, sometimes you aren’t. Not much more I can say on that.
Overall, glass cannons isn’t the problem. The absence of group synergy is.
EDIT : Also you can not honestly tell me you’ve never played alongside a glass cannon before who performed his role admirably.
On the opposite side of the table, I have seen “tank” builds who quintessentially refused to dodge, planting themselves hard in the group and therefore being downed making all that survivability “useless”.
you talk as if there is an Aggro management system in this game like others… Aggro is completely random most of the time…. it can be based on proximity, dmg, healing, who farted last, who voted for republicans, who voted for democrats.
If there was a reliable way for one to manage aggro then your above statements would apply to Glass Cannoobs in dungeons.
There is room for… 1 Glass Cannoob in a dungeon grp. anymore and its.. play whack-a-mole with who gets rezzed next.
I play a defensive build shout heal warr, i do plenty of dmg to grab aggro from some Glass Cannoobs, the key to my build, i dont drop dead instantly.
LEARN TO PLAY IN DUNGEONS, or don’t join in a group.
Anyone else feel this is already been delayed long enough ?
So for over 2 months we have to wait for Fractals to work correctly ?
Should have never been released in the state they are right now.
So i am buying 2 new computers this xmas for my wife and kids, both are decent enough but both come with Win-8.
I did a cursory search for information about it, but really came up with not alot of information.
Anyone running GW2 on a Win-8 computer atm ? Anyone silly enough tried it on a Win-8 tablet ?
Curious if i should buy copies of Win-7 instead on top of the existing OEM packed in Win-8.
Thanks for any information from others.
Granted these are not the real dragons (just abstracts of them).
Seriously though these dragon encounters are just lame, lame rewards, lame mechanics. If Anet was so damned worried about players getting too much loot from a dragon fight why not just limit the player to getting a chest once a day like they do with dungeons ?
Instead we get this terribly thought out process of forcing us to use the horrible Pact weapons, barely able to even target what we need to target, and doubling the amount of time it takes to end the fight.
Not only that i cant make the pact weapon auto #1. So clicking 11111111111111 for 20 mins to 30 mins is just plain AWFUL.
Why no mention of this in the patch notes ? Where is the communication they promised was coming, it was mentioned in the recent AMA, but was that just false platitudes ? Trying to appease us with lies ?
So tired of getting 1/2 of the information about patches. Why do i Download 50 megs of information for them to change the parameters of some odd loot bug ? Seriously ? 50 megs for that ?
Just seems so shady.
Anet, you were supposed to be the Developer that made me believe again in a game company that makes games cause they love games, not a greedy jackhole like Blizzard or Bioware. But the way you guys are backpeddling, trying to redefine 1/2 truths, and purposely ignoring issues is just leading me to feel the same i feel about Blizzard and about Bioware.

I use a GS in my Defensive dungeon build as my main, with scepter/torch for ranged fights.
GS is perfect for me and my heal/tank build because of #5 skill and its AE pull.
Course why make a crit build guard? would be better off investing that time into a crit thief.
Like other’s said… makea DPS Monkey Zerker Warr and then wait around for others to revive you in every single boss encounter.
Ugh what GW2 needs less of are Glass Cannon builds.
So tired of reviving GC’s in every boss encounter of every dungeon. Most cant even take on a Howler in AC (down in one blast).
The mentality of others who think its everyone else’s job to revive because they just want to DPS is just beyond annoying.
DPS monkey GS warrs in full zerker armor are the absolute worst.
While i am not a huge fan of Anet recently (the complete lack of communication with patch notes, and community).
A legendary should take a ton of effort and time. It should never be easy it should be a huge grind, it should make you go nutso trying to gather all the crap for it.
I picture a crazed Dwarf running through mines trying to get that one last gem to complete his life’s work. Its that kind of mentality that your striving for, and its that kind of dedication thats needed.
Problem is alot of the early farmers got an easy ride to Legendary in the beginning, while the rest of us slower players kinda get hosed int he end.
Farming is the only way i can really make money, maniplulating the trading post market doesnt really work for me, dungeons and world boss chests, 99% just give junk, and the 50 bucks a week in gem cards is getting old(i can afford it so why not), why penalize people like me who farm for a few hours each night trying to make some legit money, also crafting is worthless atm…… So exactly how are we supposed to make money? or are we supposed to just buy gem cards?
200 a month, and you want to farm ? what are you spending those gems on then ?
Converting them to gold ? why do you need so much gold then ? 200 a month in Gems to Gold plus the demand for more farming for gold seems like you might need to manage your in game cash better, are you just mail golds to random people ?
If so what server are you on ?
No matter what dungeon i am on, Tixx, Frac, CoF the entire grp is gettign disconnected and all progress reset.
Happenen with Tixx on the final boss, making the entire grp redo it from the beginning, same with Frac, and CoF.
Did not have this happen yesterday.
Anyone else ?
Oh i am on Borliss Pass, so not sure if its server specific.
No they are not under announcements… i refuse to use twitter for information about this game.
Seriously the event needs to start so i can get in and WvW like i Always do, but all these wierdo’s horked into the game and i can’t join, so umm yeah just release it
Please ?
So i was in my /guild chat last night on one of my alts (have 8, 1 for each class) just chatting away when someone asks “Who are you”. I was like oh yeah, they only see my alts name unless they go to the guild panel and look. So i was thinking how it would be nice to just have my Acct. name show in /guild chat. Maybe make it a toggle that i can choose in preferences ?
Anywho just an idea, maybe others would like to wade in on this ?
Things avoided with a test server.
Interesting choice of word-concepts. I think Anet had a lot of goodwill built up going into Lost Shores. Sadly, post patch, they are now running low. Sad, as it’s still a great game at it’s core. Sure, there are technical issues that need work, but it’s a new release and when you’ve got a lot of goodwill there’s no need to be concerned about the title. For many players they are now operating in a post-goodwill phase and they need to focus on not squandering what’s left. If I were them, I would weigh potential further loss of goodwill with every decision I made.
Yes this was what i was trying to get across, lol wish it was short as you made your reply.
I dunno i was just hoping for a resolution that worked for the majority of players so most of us felt goodwill, and not scorn.
First let me preface this with a caveat, i attended the 1 time Karka/lost shores event, and due to bugs, glitches, lag, Gremlins, i never had the chance to finish the event before it ended. With that said, i have also not received one of the Apology chests so many others have gotten recently (some got twice, some even 3 if you include the event acquire).
I do not care if i ever get one of these chests, i am more concerned over how Anet is going to get yet another black eye from this whole fiasco of the lost shores update (ascended gear was 1 black eye, disconnects and rejoins in Fractals another).
What does Anet lose if they just give everyone who had an acct. prior to the lost shores event one of these chests, even for those who never even attended it ? I can tell you nothing since its all virtual items. But giving the population a chest, can generate alot of positive feelings from the community.
Sure it belittles the effort those who got to complete the event, sure it might flood the market with a few choice items, but it will make those who tried and never got to achieve it feel that Anet at least gives a kittens rear end.
There is also another idea, but i am not sure how well this would go over, why not just re-introduce the event for a week, before Wintersday.
I dunno i still enjoy the game, not getting a chest does not make me want to quit playing. Nor does it make me angry at Anet, i just hate to think others will get so pissed off about it, that they might just do that…. Quit.
I am betting the thread gets closed.
Hmm well the event was so bugged when i tried to do it and then the information i received about it was extremely confusing. I was told if i did not complete the first phase that took place on Friday, that i could not do the rest, i spent over 12 hours Friday/Saturday and i never got a chance to actually finish Phase one. I came back later Saturday to try and finish, but was told by several i could not because it had to be done on Friday.
Weather this was true or not, i was deflated after spending an exorbitant amount of time in frustrating glitched events. I did not have the desire to even see if the information i got about doing Phase one was accurate or not.
Do i feel i deserve the chest if i had one mailed to me ? A little bit but i am not upset i have not had any consideration about it.
I think Anet should have just introduced the event again so everyone could make a serious attempt to doing it, and no i am not talking a year from now, i mean like the following week after it was first over.
I have been running Dungeons constantly recently, my main is a Warr and i get so embarrassed when the grps i am in get other Warrs, mainly because they are the GS/Zerk/sig builds. They bring nothing useful to the grp other than the fact that we are constantly having to revive them.
The inability of these morons to switch to a ranged weapon is astounding, i have a nice rifle, i know i dont bring as much dmg if i am not in melee, but… i am not on the ground. I am at least shooting and doing dmg versus laying on my back waiting for others to pick up the slack.
I am full defensive i generally run in pirates gear for magic find, and i use Dual Axes. Far from the ideal Warrior builds other’s expect to be running. I figure if i am not dead (like those other warrs) i am up and using shouts to heal and fix conditions. I use dual axes because they can and do more AE dmg then GS users, which in dungeons like AC,CoF,TA and others with large amounts of trash mobs, it helps alot more than just big dmg to one mob.
Its rather frustrating getting pigeon holed because of other lazy players.
Not sure about the rest of the players, but when i DL a 50mb patch/update i kinda of want to know what it is i am putting into the game ????
So can we get notes as to what this is ?
I would be happy if Anet stopped worrying TOO much about the stupid TP and started to show more concern about players being happy playing.
There are no set roles, but anyone who read anything about GW2 prior to purchasing it KNOWs this.
NO main TANK
NO main HEALS
NO main CC
Did you spend anytime reading about GW2 prior to purchasing it ?
Also, learn to dodge in dungeons.
Okay I’ve updated the thread with the questions you guys have provided so far! Please don’t use this as a way to tar/feather the company though~
Link for those who missed it: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/13lio6/prepare_for_the_chris_whiteside_ama_here/
Keep asking questions. I’ll keep writing them down!
Not sure if this is a good way to make us feel like ALL of our questions will be asked, if we the player feel that Anet needs to be held accountable then you the person submitting our questions should be objective, not subjective.
Umm i got a huge chest from the bloodtide coast and it was filled…… with complete garbage.
So whenever i DL an update/patch i am always lost as to why the actual size of the patch is not revealed.
My problem is i have 2 internet connections (i live in a very remote location in Alaska) 1 connection is metered internet thats very fast, the other is very slow but unlimited. If i knew ahead of time how large a patch was with actual usable numbers i would know which service to use when i DLed it.
I understand that not many others are in the same odd situation as i am but there has to be others that would appreciate the size being listed.
Maybe someone from Anet could post as to why this information is not transparent ?
The DR is simply a hindrance for legit players.
It simply acts as an artificial timer for how long you can play.It limits how long you can stay in a single area. I find that just stupid. Let’s say I’m in a level 40-45 area and I just want to stay around there and it’s only got the same type of creatures in there.
To solve the DR, some would say “Go explore else where, or go ____”.
Why should I do that? I want to be in that area as it would be the appropriate are for me to be in at that level. I don’t want to have to go somewhere else just to have to work around some system that wasn’t aimed at me.
But the entire game is level appropriate, only some drops outside of Orr and even within give gear that’s 4 levels below yours. Think outside the box.
See a lot of us are not talking about “gear” we are mostly talking about crafting mats that mobs drop, you do not get those from killing mobs in low level areas, you get the low level materials from low level areas. If i could acquire those materials in any area then i would not have any issues with DR, but i can’t so i do have a problem.
I hear a ton of argument (@Red Falcon, @deriver, @Nyaochan) against a player suggesting an issue w/ the game, but not one argument as to why DR needs to stay.
Seriously, if you want to defend DR so much, do so with valid points.
And if you know “Game Design 101” so well, then you’d likely also know “User Experience 101” well enough to know that you don’t impose a negative impact on one system to accommodate another unless there is clearly no other alternative and that you are guaranteed a better result than otherwise.
Last I checked, bots are in full swing, growing in numbers. So who did the DR really have an affect on?
^^This ^^
Great comment.
The saddest thing is that i fear the DR was truly implemented now to get players to spend money on gems. It has done nothing to curtail the botters, in fact it made them fall back on more intrusive tactics that affect players even more (like multiboxing in Orr events).
I truly never really put much stock into that idea (that DR was only implmented to force players to buy gems) but the more they remain silent on this subject and the more i see how detrimental it has been to honest players vs botters, well i just end up coming to a really bad conclusion.
Thanks for your post Coolee.
I like doing low level events. Fun and easy and still get 250 karma each time. I don’t need a legendary weapon today. It can come next week or next month for all I care. I have full exotic gear and can do any content, anywhere. That’s good enough for me and the reason I enjoy this game.
I feel the same as well. Sadly, though, I think people like us, who actually have a bit of patience and a higher maturity level are somewhat of a minority. Most of the people complaining about the DR are probably in the “I want my shinies now now NOW!” camp.
And then they complain once they get everything they want, demand more content NOW and ragequit because they purposefully rushed and ran out of things to do when the developer doesn’t immediately fall all over themselves and cave to their demands.
Sorry but no, i did not rush and i am not demanding new content, i am just asking for the game to play as it did prior to the 9-18-12 update. I would like to be able to gather the materials for my crafting professions, in a manner that i prefer. I do not enjoy being forced to either buy gems for gold, or use the trade post for every time i want to get materials for crafting.
I am not rage quitting, i am not raging, i just would appreciate the game to allow me to play the way i prefer, and had played prior to that update.
I think that you just want to marginalize players who dislike the DR, you would rather denigrate players, and try to categorize those of us who disagree with you.
I would prefer more discussion, preferably with Anet in that conversation, but Anet has decided to cover there ears and shake there heads yelling “na na na na na i can’t hear you”.
They’ve been tweaking it, but the concept will probably stay.
Umm can you direct me to where they have tweaked this ? Or where they have commented on said tweaks ?
