I would rather vote for this mini-cart game that will be available on that flying ship.
Good PUG is good.
I tried this dg with pug. This was my first time there and we manage to almost kill last boss – we were killed when she had <25%HP and I didn’t have time for second attempt
).
So I think you don’t have to give up on this dungeon. Especially when it’s quite fun and challenging.
Ok, I get your meaning. I know that my ranger is pretty durable but when we consider only normal fights then there was only one where I felt like I could stand better then others. Every other I had same problems: had to roll as much as I could.
I was in pug.
Could AN make this more melee friendly? Probably they could. I need to go there with my thief to see the difference.
OT: I didn’t count boss fights to be honest. It died quite fast when walls were involved and I didn’t pay to much attention to it because I was fighting for my own life. Especially when it was my first time.
But I swapped pets whenever I could. On last fight it depended utterly on luck. I mean…when it has it’s god skill ready it could last long enough.
But I know that pets are easy kill. I just used to it. I don’t play as a beastmaster as opposed to GW1 so I don’t know how fights would go on when I had traits to make pets stronger. Maybe if I would sacrifice some of my fighting abilities or survivability and didn’t get equal buff for pet I would be more upset on how things are.
Although I think you’re right about boss fights I’m sure you’re wrong about every other fight. I was there with my ranger and 2H sword. Didn’t have problem with it. Southsun gave me much more trouble with fighting melee then this dg. :P
And boss fights…I think this is intended. I didn’t even think about fighting in melee with walls coming at me and I didn’t try to fight this way with second boss. But I don’t have problem with that. Those fights are designed to force movement.
Yes, because the mechanics are so bad there is a steep learning curve and some types of characters are just down right useless against some of the bosses. Especially pet classes. The pets die every ten seconds and are completely useless so half or more of many classes DPS is just gone for most of the fight.
I don’t think it’s true. I tried this DG yesterday with my ranger and I had no problem with my pets. They died of course but this wasn’t so much more then everyone else in my team was downed.
I think you should consider to choose proper pet for tasks like this. Fortunately for me, two pets that I like, can be used as a tank because they can be invulnerable for a shot time and heal themselves with some attacks.
We’ve manage to get to the last boss and almost killed it. We would probably killed it at the second attempt but I couldn’t stay so don’t know if my team succeeded.
I like this red ribbon. But it’s quite irritating that it isn’t visible all the time. Wooden skins from Wintersday have similar detail but you can see it regardless of angle. So it can be repaired.
Come on…here you can kill anything (not farming) and get chests (got ~400 this way) or buy them through the TP (bought ~2000). I found 3 tickets and a lot of other things that I probably never use. I spent some great amount of gold on this and yet I’m satisfied. Why?
BECAUSE YOU GOT A TICKET!!
If you would read more of what I wrote you would know that it’s a little more complicated – I set myself some limits that I would not cross. I had negative feelings about not finding ticket after 1.5k chests. But, like I said, I have a different perspective on this whole thing. For me chests aren’t very different from normal drop. Which can be pretty low for some very rare stuff. There were lots of things that I didn’t get in GW1 and there are lots of things that I don’t have in GW2. And yet I don’t have to complain or cry about it.
But I know that AN has made some wrong decisions about many things. Like not giving any way to trade ticket with another players. Or for example giving one ticket at the end of festival. My only hope is that this was not intended…
ArenaNet doesn’t care if you are happy when playing. All they care about is that you are playing. If that means skinner box conditioning, time gates, massive grinds and RNG gating all the new content, that’s what they will do.
So what you’re basically suggesting is to give everything to everyone so everyone will be happy, yes? I don’t think that’s a solution. No one is forcing you to grind. You want something that is very rare? Then you have two options:
- play game as usual counting on you luck
- grind or buy from TP
It’s only your choice.
I think the main problem for most of you have is related to time limitation. But without it drop chance would have to be much lower to prevent this skins to be too common. I really don’t understand why this such a big deal…I mean, I know that it’s disappointing to not getting ticket after 2.5k chests opened (I had this feeling around 1.5k) but I told myself ‘so what? it’s just bad luck, I can live with that’.
I think you’re right with their model. I mean, they want to give as much anything to do as possible. This way we get the impression of new content…But those simple Living Story things aren’t good enough…sadly…It’s like they afraid if there will be to much time between new additions then players will immediately leave. And worst part of this theory is that regardless of if what AN believe is true we still loose here.
Because these items are only available for a limited time and the only way to get them is via the luck of the draw – even if you throw money at arenanet. I think that’s wrong. If I – and anyone else who thinks things like this are wrong – don’t speak up (aka cry and complain), things will never change.
Yeah, I can’t argue here. You’re right on some degree. There were very nice ideas posted here. Like those pointed by Eivene But ideas for improvements isn’t exactly the same as complaining and whining. What constructive will come from crying that RNG is bad when it’s clearly not the problem here?
I would summarize this like this:
- limited time – good, makes something more exclusive
- making it random drop – overall good, for the same reason as above
- don’t giving ability to sell ticket or skin – very bad
- making chests tradable – neutral, some may say that it encourage people to spend gold for gambling and some would say that you should be strong and control yourself

My limit is 0g. […] That’s why I have no idea how many I’ve opened and have been going by a count of days. Today will day 11. Will I get a ticket? Probably not. And if not…
And that’s completely ok. You have your limit. This is as close to normal playing as possible. It’s exactly like in my example where ticket would drop only from mobs.
So why you would complain on this?
You may not have cried and complained then, but here you are crying and complaining now because you got only one. ;-)
No, I don’t. :P
BTW When I was wondering about those chests and my gold I made some limit that I would not cross. Maybe all of you should make same mental limit? You know how much gold you have. You also now how much you would pay for skin. So it’s easy to estimate your limit
. But don’t buy chests for all of this. Only 1/3 or something like that. If you get ticket you won’t loose more gold. And if not you will always have some more to spend.
I got my tickets between 1800-2400. My limit was capped at 40g. I used it all because I wanted to try to get two skins (sword and dagger for my thief).
And you still complain…geez. Don’t you think one of the reasons you want that skin so badly is just because it’s so rare?
No.
You did see that I wrote ‘one of’ not ‘only’, didn’t you?
You like this skins. Some people may not. I honestly don’t like all of the jade skins (for example bows looks awful to me). Same thing with this…previous ones. I liked great sword and staff. And I didn’t get enough tickets back then – only one. Did I cry or complain? No. Because in my opinion it’s quite fair – it’s random reward.
Actually it’s not ridiculous, it’s perfectly natural to see something and want to acquire it through either work or tradable goods. It is far more ridiculous to dangle something in front of someones face and never give it to them no matter how much time or money they invest into acquiring it.
And while it is similar to the Mystic Forge, and dissimilar from mob drops, the problem is that you can’t work towards the item in question without relying on RNG. […] I like these skins far more than many of what you can buy on the TP.
I can agree with you about possibility of selling ticket through TP. It would be much better this way but only when drop would be a little lower (yes I know what I’m saying
).
But I still think RNG here is not as bad as many claims. I spent something like 40g which gave me 3 tickets. When I would like to buy some rare exotic skins I would have to pay so much more…
Some paid more and didn’t get it….and that’s still fine. I’m sorry but it’s their problem if they spend real money on this. And if they spend only in-game money then I don’t see any problem here. It’s still RANDOM DROP. Like from any mob, Mystic Forge or any kind of standard MMO drop.
Leaving selling ability aside, the only difference is that you get chest before real drop game begins.
And what would happen if AN would made this drop as any other? I mean. What if this ticket would drop straight from mobs? Of course with the same chance. Then it would be fair, wouldn’t it? Because there wouldn’t be any option to get ticket through gold so there won’t be crying about loosing gold…Of course then people would complain about drop chance (which is exactly like RNG).
So there is no way of making people happy. Even if this skin was more common…because then there would be complaining about not getting anything that is rare enough…
[…]I am hugely disappointed with how the player is supposed to get the jade skins.
It seems like there is a very high demand for these skins, and unfortunately the people that do want the tickets have to settle for RNG to get the tickets.
And that’s the whole problem here. Why do you think someone have to get this skin? Just because he want it? That’s ridiculous.
Stop complaining about RNG…this is exact the same as random drop from mob! Or to be little closer to GW2 – Mystic Forge, where you have very small chance to get precursor…
Maybe you’re right but I still believe that there may be some people at AN that could read all of this complaining in a wrong way and make wrong decision based on this. That’s why I wanted to put my thoughts about this.
And you still complain…geez. Don’t you think one of the reasons you want that skin so badly is just because it’s so rare? Example here is so simple. Look at those wings (both versions). Everywhere I go there are people who have them. Even if they are gold, which should means rare, they are so common…just boring stuff. (and I won’t even mention how weird is holographic look of them)
So what if you don’t get this skin. Universe won’t collapse and you may have better chance next time when there is some unique skin.
I’m sorry but I have to say this: you’re really whining too much. There is element of randomize here and that’s how it suppose to be. This is optional content that you’ll get if you’re lucky enough. What’s the difference between this and random drop from monsters? In GW1 there were named foes that could drop named weapon. Some of this drops where really low and you’d have to kill foe to even get chance to roll a dice. And that really wasn’t a piece of cake.
So yeah, you’d have to farm to get skin/stats combination you want there.
Come on…here you can kill anything (not farming) and get chests (got ~400 this way) or buy them through the TP (bought ~2000). I found 3 tickets and a lot of other things that I probably never use. I spent some great amount of gold on this and yet I’m satisfied. Why? Simple. Look at prices of some rare exotic skins…So even if I get only one ticket it’s still be something relatively cheap for something that I wanted to get.
And it wasn’t even hard to get prerequisite to roll a dice.

I don’t know how did you came up with this idea and thought it is good in any way.
Right now I have no idea how many allies are with me so I have no idea if I should fight or run from invaders. I can’t tell when I should try to help someone because I don’t see him.
Really bad move. Culling is bad in any way but when previous one was active at least I knew how big my group was so we could make tactics based of our number. Right now it’s horrible experience.
(edited by Draghmar.2594)
Ok…so I see here that there was already some kind of new distribution? Why I wasn’t confirmed anyway about it? I’ve created ticked 120826-014153 – you can see how old it is.
But I’ve closed it because you wrote that you will do something about it and because I thought that you have so many others, more important problems that I didn’t want my ticket to lay there only to occupy space.
If that was in fact true then they would have really bad artists because pics you’ve provided shows as nothing like what is in game right now. Look at the way that real warthog have his head. It looks almost like it is above it’s torso. And one from GW2 doesn’t have it like that at all.
There’s a even better screen on wiki that shows how much GW2 warthog is not a warthog at all. Look at it’s head…it doesn’t have any hair there…
Funny thing is that I didn’t make screenshot of juvenile version. It’s adult that walks north from Black Citadel where I was exploring with my Charr.
I wrote this in topic that I’ve created but maybe here it won’t go away so quickly:
I have an idea to make game better for everyone.
I remember seeing somewhere posts about level downscaling leaving player too powerful for area his was at the moment. I noticed that too. It was even more problematic when I entered Norn lands with my Charr. I could kill everything without any effort…and that’s just boring.
I know – exploration. But I would like to explore with some challenge all the way.
But I know that there are some who like to go easy route and like to get feeling of superiority on starter areas. That’s why it’s best to make tool to combine both approach.
Make option to change level of difficultly.
Yes, it’s that simple.
All you have to do is make something like “Normal”, which will be exactly like it is now and “Hard” that would lower character level for about 2-3 more levels.
That shouldn’t be too complicated to implement since you already have downscaling.
Please make this change.
Yes it could be but it’s very complicated to implement. There so many factors to count…all upgrades, guild stash and what’s in it, players that are representing and not. And of course some maybe don’t want to transfer and you can’t relay only on inner communication – guild can’t have option to force transfer.
I don’t think we will see this option soon…if ever.
Maybe AN could makes things easier for them self if guild had to be empty with only leader left before transferring.

Oh c’mon. Almost no feedback? I’m starting to think that “Suggestion” is new name for “Off-topic” or “Spam” – sub-forums where no one really reads anything…
I know this issue is not some important one when compared to all the bugs and account problems but it really made be sad. And no explanation is even worse. How should I get some AN answer here? Should I report it as a bug in game itself? But then I’m pretty sure it would be ignored.
I would like to see at least model from GW1 with it’s low-res textures and not too many polygons. It would look as warthog at least…
(edited by Draghmar.2594)
Yes I know. That’s why I wanted to highlight it. I want to believe that AN knows this too.
But it’s hard to stay with your vision in game industry where money has so much impact on what we’re playing.
My wish is that game stays with it’s principles as they are now. New content are always welcome. But this should be new content like one called Sorrow’s Furnace in GW1. Not like some other expansions and updates in other games that simply raises level cap to open more time consumption.
Great inside!
I would add one thing to this. All of you out there (both AN and players) remember that those who complains on forums are minority that is just too loud. Most people don’t complain or even post here simply because they are playing the game. Getting fun from it’s principles as they are now.
This so called EndGame is weird thing because it implicates that whole game is just an excuse for time consumption…nothing more.
I’m not sure is this a proper sub-forum for this topic. If not then feel free to move it somewhere else.
Story:
On of three main classes that I liked to play in GW1 was ranger so I had quite obvious choice on what class should I choose in GW2. (other were necro and dervish) The whole time I spent in GW1 I was accompanied by warthog. I had it with me on each character. That’s why I wanted to grab it in GW2 as soon as I find juvenile version…but what was my disappointment when I discovered that there are no warthogs in GW2.
Problem:
Of course I know that there some animals called this way. But they don’t look like warthogs at all! It’s more like some mix of rat and a barrel. You can see the difference in attachment:
- Photo of warthog in the wild.
- Screen from GW1 – you may see resemblance to the one from photo.
- Screen from GW2 – look at this head…rat’s head with rat’s nose…and this torso like it just ate some barrel…one ugly creature.

Questions:
- Could you bring back warthog from GW1 where it looks like it should look?
- Why did you change it so much in a first place? It couldn’t be evolution. Even over 200 years are nothing for evolution.

Ideally, we would see some people move from worlds with extreme queue times to worlds that need additional people and start building up active wvw communities there as well.
Yeah, it would be great but in my opinion it is far from happening. And it’s really simple why. People that focus on PvP would like to play in Worlds that are on the top of the ranking (obvious). People who aren’t PvP oriented will choose Worlds that are higher in ranking because of prestige (and bonuses of course). And because of that only server’s capacity will be major factor here.
There are of course people who choose Worlds based on some other factors. I’m at Ruins of Surmia because Lakeside County is no more :P and it is somehow nostalgic for me as GW1 player.
You should really look into your language detection script because it clearly has some flaws. This time I’ve got Spanish version of Dev Tracker…

…because you believe they only look at the newest posts or that this post becomes less visible over time and needs to become redundant?
Because I believe it can be lost with so many bug and problems around – my second post was on 11 page. Now we have 14 and probably ends at 16 today (GMT time).
Because I’d like to be sure I’ve made everything I can to help my brother back into game.
@Draghmar, there was another thread, if you weren’t in it, about the C2D – with your video card, your CPU is HUGELY bottlenecking you. Someone in that thread upgraded to an i5 on my suggestion and their performance has seen a HUGE increase.
Yeah, I probably even posted there. I know that my CPU is too weak for this game. Especially when I learned that GW2 really likes 4+ cores.
I would have to change my motherboard, cpu and ram and that would cost me something like 700$. Plus I would add Samsung 256GB 830 SSD and that is another 300$.
But I’m considering buying Clevo P370EM and selling my current desktop to get device I could play in any part of my home.
Bottom line – GW2 needs more then two cores and decent gpu.
(edited by Draghmar.2594)
Here, check out their review, they test it for 10 commonly available GPU’s over a wide price range.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268.html
Thx for this review but it’s outdated because they used beta client. We need to wait for updated review to see true benchmarks.
BTW I didn’t post how game runs on ma hardware: C2D E8200@3.48GHz, 6GB RAM@867MHz, GTX 560Ti. Works flawlessly…if I’m in EotN
. Normally I have ~20fps max. When fighting in WvW it can drop to ~6fps. So it’s hard to play this way.
Changing setting doesn’t impact performance too much so I have almost max (w/o supersample, FXAA and Ultra LoD)
Right now I’m in the middle of deciding what to buy to play smoothly.
I started topic about this issue (mcl pasted in his updated post) and I want to add few things:
- I don’t have any network problem. No lags, no dc, no long logins.
- I don’t have this problem in PvE or at least I didn’t noticed it.
- In most cases it work in a way that group of our world kills something that is invisible whole time. Players from other world doesn’t “pop-in”. They mostly stay invisible until they die.
- If it was normal lag then if I would stand long enough right beside fight everyone should appear. But it’s not working this way. I’ve tested this because there was some fight and I didn’t know whats going on, why my world is fighting with air. So I stood there for a while.

It’s really annoying and breaking the game. There were many times when I couldn’t see players from opposing worlds. Sometimes I had to stop and watch what is going on to get the idea where I should go to find anything to hit. And I wasn’t alone with this problem! Sometime players from my own team didn’t appear…And this include both models and names!
How can you play in WvW when you’re moving from point to point on open space only to find out that there are invaders coming right at you when there’s no time to react in any way then die. (I really had this once)
I don’t know how to reproduce it. I just clicked on “crumbs” to get to top forum’s level. See the screenshot and look at the Game bugs. If click on it I see some topic written in German.
Short answer: Servers start on day one of launch and run linear until endgame.
I must say that it’s a very interesting idea.
But it’s too restrictive for average player in my opinion because you either join and play from some point, loosing some things that were in the past, or you don’t play at all waiting for server to reset.
What you described is something like global chained dynamic event. STAKLER was designed this way but they didn’t manage to implement this to work well enough…and that was single player game.
Sorry, not 11 pages but 12. And it could be somehow related to merged topics.
Sometimes after posting I ended up on non existing page. For example I was redirected to this link:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Unresolved-Tickets-5-days-and-older-merged/page/13#post55331
But this topic had only 11 pages at that time.

Ok, so here is the case of my brother who could regularly play with me from 3 day head-start and on one day, when he wanted to play again, he couldn’t login into game with those errors: 122:4:5:1270, 21:6:3:2114.
He opened his ticket on 09/06/2012 although problem occurred day before (he was waiting because as we may all know, there were constantly some problems). There was even answer to his issue but it was only auto-response which didn’t help him – he couldn’t disable auth because there was some error on recovery page after submiting. So right now he can’t play. I can’t play with him. And there was no help from support (I won’t count “bots” as help because what they say can be found on support page or wiki).
Here is ticket number: 120906-010197 and please do something with it.
It’s past five days right now. No proper response. I will repost this each day to remind you about it.
This has been fixed, so this problem should go away. Please let me know if you’re still seeing this problem and I’ll look into it personally.
We’ve created Guild Stash just yesterday and only leader can access it. Anyone else got message that they should find some guild (game thinks they aren’t in guild).
Guild name: Ciasteczkowe Potwory [Ciam]
World: Ruins of Surmia
I have to put false on my previous statement. Right now even I as a leader don’t have access to Guild Stash…
There are lots of people who would like to know how is GW2 run on some GPU and CPU. I found nice comparison that could answer most of those questions so I decided to put in topic form, maybe even as the beginning for others to put their findings.
It’s Polish site, so obviously it’s written in Polish but most important thing – graphs, are quite easy to understand. So here it is
And here is direct link to translator but it’s far from perfect
Maybe it would be good to have another option to see Devs posts but there are two right now: Dev tracker and two arrows around AN nick in post which redirect you to next (or previous) AN in topic.
I don’t want to start this dispute because this is kind of topic I really like and I could easily move it beyond OP’s content and even beyond forum in a state it is right now.
So to be short: not i5 but i7, laptop not because of portability but dimensions and way to play in different places of my home without too much hassle. :P But I still didn’t choose what to do (ratio), which is quite normal because I need long time to decide what to buy – almost four months to buy Eizo.
I have 560Ti from MSI as well with E8200@3.48GHz and I can confirm your experience. I would say that I have average 20fps during PvE. In WvW it’s great when I can somehow play when there is siege.
There is a solution to this, a proper solution, but no MMO developers have the confidence to try it.
I’m really curious, what solution you have in mind?
Yeah, it’s hard to guess that you’ll need to wait for some event to finish, especially when NPC said that no one can use his device without any suggestion how to change his mind.
But after event successfully finished I could go this catapult and use it. What I’m disappointment though is lack of flying animation. It just teleport you (with loading screen) at the top of the tower.
Yeah, I know. But there are many who have similar setup to mine. That’s why I wanted to point out that it’s not so obvious about performances.
It’s exactly like you said: cpu almost constant 100% and gpu 40-50% max. I’m waiting right now to upgrade my hardware either by replacing cpu (which means also motherboard and memory) or buying Clevo P370EM. But I have to wait when this notebook will be available in my country to see with my own eyes (or maybe better hear it with my own ears
).
Oh, sorry. I was referring to this AoE looting. I should quote his post…
