That was intentional, and there are few reasons I can think of:

-Boosting up sale for transmutation crystal

-If ascended armors and weapons looked cool as hell, many people would keep the look, and everybody would look similar, which is stupid. And eventually, people would demand for more variety of looks and A net may have to design 5-6 more ascended sets for each armor type.

-Very few people would bother running dungeon anymore (except Cof 1 for quick daily cash ). They have armors with better stats and cool looks to go for now.

I still dont get how this proves a low skill cap for theif. Since its the only thing i disagree with you on.

On the whole escape thing (thief got it easy part) if we are talking ooc reseting fight then warrior engi and ele even mes have equal escape capabilities or more. Id go so far to say thief would be unable to escape them if not for stealth even.

If you are talking about reseting fight without healing and ooc by stealth stacking then it should be considered the same fight. Mind games are part of the class design as is with mesmer. Mind games imo atleast focus more on player skill than class capabilities imo so in a way it promotes a high skill cap for the class that employs it. Hence the simplistic approach theif has.

Unless warrior and ele run high mobile builds, their escapability are laughable, but this is true for any high mobile build. And by using those builds, they would have to sacrifice damage or CC, which make your life even easier.

With thief however, exactly like you said, they don’t need to run away, just stealth stacking and lmao at the clueless fools why waiting for your heal to get back up.

Let say if a noob thief vs a noob of other classes. Noob thief has 99% chance of winning just for the stealth button.

If a noob thief vs an experienced other classes who know how to deal with them, noob thief has 99% chance of losing because once their stealth is countered, they are like a naked woman in a life time prison for males.

But if a skilled thief vs a skilled other classes, skilled thief has much higher chance to win… again because now they know how to use stealth better + know how to counter stealth counters, and there was no hard counter to stealth so suck it.

A couple of questions to you kind sir.

What’s the hardcounter to healing signet and adrenal health?
What’s the hardcounter to CC when you don’t have access to many dodges nor stability?
What’s the hardcounter to minions, clones and spirits sucking up your dmg ?
What’s the hardcounter to having a lot of, in many cases unavoidable conditions on you when your condition removal and health pool is lowest in the game?

1. Condition build with poison , or 16k back stab, anyway Tanky regen warrior deals no damage so unless you suck kitten u should come out winning after a long fight no matter what
2.Blind is the best counter for soft CC, hard CC doesn’t last long
3. Stealth, and u have plenty of time to find the true target
4. There is no unavoidable condition, if it’s target surrounded conditions, again stealth and wait for it to cool off. Low health ? Stealth and reset the fight at will.

1. 16k backstab with a condition build? Tanky regen warrior deals no damage, whatabout on a thief who deals 16k backstab on a tanky regen warrior? Not even possible fyi.
2. Hard CC doesn’t last for long? I remember being Stuned, Immobilized and knockdown for up to 10 seconds against warriors, and thats’ when I’ve utilized Infiltrators Strike and shadow return to escape damage, and also dodged a lot of the CC.
3. We need to strike from behind, if the pet-whatever stands on top of his pet, the pet sucks up all damage, since the pets in many cases have bigger dmg zone than the players, and not to forget they suck up AoE dmg, and many times makes the player take 0 dmg.
4. It’s unavoidable if you want to deal dmg to the player, otherwise true, you can stay away from the player as well. Which means you don’t have a higher chance to win.

1. Did I not say “or” ? and may be not 16k but u can always have far more damage than he can regen. I’ve seen a thief took down a 30k hp 3.5 k armor regen warrior in15 seconds. And I’m quite sure you also able to do it unless you are crap.
2. Immobilize is not hard CC, apply blind and you are safe the whole duration. The longest hard cc a warrior can offer is 3 sec stun from skull crack, and that’s the only hard cc you really need to worry about.
3. At least you have the option to strike them whenever you want, all they can do is hiding behind their minions and wait to get hit
4. All "unavoidable " conditions have long cool down, your stealth is plenty and can even reach perma.

I cant agree more with the first 2 parts.

However i dont see where you base the third one.

1) 2 skilled players fight one hell of a battle and thief happens to win. Does that mean it was the class that won and not the player? How do you measure that? You assume both have equal skills? In the end both are human and one is bound to make a mistake.

2) A skilled thief can excape easily even vs other skilled players i can give you that. But thats quite different from winning. Running away is the same as losing.

Edit: 3 ) You only need basic knoledge to counter noob thieves which doesnt mean the class has a low skill cap, it might be easy to start with but in order to truly excel at it you need a lot of time and practice. And you also need to know the other classes and builds they are using which is easier vs a thief that only has 2 viable builds atm.

At your 2 point, u already answered for the winning formula of most “skilled” thief. Low health => running away easily => come back at at full health => reset the fight => loop the process until target die or run away = declare victory no matter what.

Some of you sound like thief is a high skill or brain class, which make me lol. The only thing you ever need to do as thief is mass clicking the stealth button then mass spamming auto attack. That "I have skill " illusion come from so many easy wins by auto attacking nooby players in stealth mode while they could not fight back for there was no hard counter. I suffered a lot from thiefs when I were a WvW noob, but once I figured out how to deal with them, Jesus Christ need to kill hundred crap thiefs to find a decent one. The lowest skill and dumbest class in the game in my opinion.

There is no need to stealth counter, what really needed is making the effect visible when u successfully hit a thief in stealth mode. More over, some thief builds have either really long duration (like 2-3 min ) or short cool down stealth (like appear for 2 sec, stealth 10 sec, appear 2 sec ), those need to be fixed. I know thief supposed to assassinate but they should not be immortal in the middle of a zerg and God mode 1v1.

I think A net want to promote Fractal running as a better way to get Obsidian instead of Karma. But u can still get Karma from running WvW, even faster than the old Cursed shore (minimum 50k per day for me )

$600 -$800 depends on what legendary: Considering the value they can bring (cosmetic and satisfactory – but zero satisfactory if you buy ). I highly suggest to not use real cash on a few MB of digital data that cost more than 10 times the game itself, even if you are obscenely rich ) . Getting all the ingredients by yourself and may be spend $300 bucks on the precursor would make you feel much better ( Because there is no smart way to get precursors so you would not feel guilty buying them )

Rifle is underpowered

As the title say, the rifle is currently a lot weaker than the long bow from what I’ve seen. It’s pure single target yet the long bow somehow has better single target DPS while having great AoE at the same time.

Even the condition damage from the rifle does not really stand out considering longbow has AoE burning from F1 and 2 + bleeding from 5 + a fairly short cool down blind + shooting double around means if u go for the precision tree you have very high the chance to cause bleed on auto attack.

In conclusion, I see very little reason to use the rifle over the long bow. The only situation in which it could be more useful is 1v1 with condition build

Ok, This is probably one the oldest bug ever that’s never been given proper attention. Normally they work ok, but in heavy areas such as Orr and WvW, they either missed or landed with me end up miles away from the target. I have posted about this several times in the last couple of months but nothing changed. It’s a huge problem in combat for me, making it very luck based.

Making legendary unable to be sold doesn’t change that much if most of the ingredients + the precursor can be bought, I don’t see the reason to be disappointed. More over, if somebody would spend $800 for a piece of digital equipment, they must be either obscenely rich or insane

Hard counter is ok if it’s created for something that are immensely powerful. In this case few people could deny how much unfair advantage the thief has against other classes just by clicking the stealth button. I know thief has weakness such as being squishy but as long as they do not get one shot they can reset the fight almost at will and there is very little other classes could do about it beside blind AoE, which is not balanced by any mean.

So either hard counter need to be created and make thief less effective against a specific class or stealth must be nerfed and make thief weaker against all classes, your choice.

If everyone can get their ascended from drop. It would be very unfair for the people who spent hundreds gold leveling up their crafting.

And how is the current situation fair to people who didn’t buy gold in order to afford crafting? When was a P2W system ever fair?

Anyway, ascended weapons don’t drop. It’s a myth.

Using real money just to level up crafting is actually a bigger loss in my opinion. It’s like investing $20-30 for some pieces of digital equipments that make you slightly stronger, while the entire game can be purchased for $50. Unless you play only 1-2 hours per week, you should not have problem getting the gold for crafting.

The thing is the only thing legendary really give you are cosmetic and satisfactory values. So if precursor becomes easier to get, everyone would start running around with legendaries. which will kill off the satisfactory value of those who have it and making it much less interesting for those who don’t. I mean who would put so much effort into a piece of cosmetic skin that can be seen everywhere ? when there are skins that are much easier to get and suit your personal taste more.

I believe if precursor price getting too much out of control that it would take many years for those who dont want to spend real cash to get them. Then Area.net would do something to keep it down. A crafting option would be one of them, otherwise keep waiting.

Have almost everything the largest obstacle is Dusk.

Painfully watching the price go up and up every months, don’t have 10 hours per day to farm gold, don’t want to spend 300 bucks on it, it’s just too dumb (but it’s what Arena net hope you would do ).

There should be a more reliable (but not easy) ways to obtain precursor, like winning a PvP tournament or something

It really depends on what sort of fun you are after. Flashy skills (Ele ) , extreme maneuverability (Thief ), massive survivability and utility (guardian ), super trickery (mesmer) ….. etc.

About warrior, the most outstanding point would be single target damage, which is by far the highest in the game. So, get your berserker gears and enjoy the pleasure of being able to one shot anything that is not tank (or being one shoted )

It was fine yesterday then today every 30 min I lost connection. This is the second time this kitten happen. Is this something like monthly server maintenance ? or just pure incompetence ? Arena net if you are so eager to kick off a customer who already paid, you are very very close. This game is full of bugs, no polish, heavily focus on grinding for gear, no end game content and now having connection problem that can’t be fixed for several months.

This game is a bit too casual, most of the boss are easy with big enough number, you can get to lv 80 and get strong gears fairly easily, which is great for casual players but unable to satisfy hard core player. So far there are very few hard core content ( legendary weapons, super high level Frac, some dungeons like Arah, CoE ). So if you are the sort of player that spend 7-8 hours per day, u will naturally get bored rather quickly. But if you are the sort of player that play on weekend or 2-3 hours per day, you will never get bored of it because new casual content never stop coming out.

Bigger and more concentrated area

Ok, most of the areas in this game feel a little "small " due to the fact that the world is divided into many areas and those areas are divided into parts, with the exception of Divinity Reach and Black Citadel, unfortunately those areas are just mostly for show. So my suggestion is why don’t we have a massive concentrated area to fight in ? Like a huge temple, citadel, city that take the space of an entire area

Just imagine a scenario like this: An Elder Dragon occupy Divinity Reach, you have to use the Black Citadel to fight it on the air. Then it’s wounded and hide in the center of DR and you need a server’s scale invasion to retake the city district by district and kill the Dragon.

Almost 90% of the reason I play Guild war 2 is because it’s from NC soft, and I was in love with 1 of their MMO, Lineage 2 for a long time.

Now to be honest, Line age 2 is not comparable to WoW by any mean, and it’s probably not as good as GW2, but there are 2 big reasons that make me keep playing it even now: The atmospheric and unique scenery of all areas and the massive size of the world ( especially cities and structures )

GW2 is a great game, but in those 2 factors, I believe it’s still have room for improvement:
Unlike Lineage, the world in GW2 is divined into many areas, which is probably the major reason I can’t feel the same massiveness in size. However, there are still some areas in GW2 that can make people "Woh " due to their size and beauty such as Divinity Reach, Black Citadel. Unfortunately, those huge epic areas are mostly just for watch. Most of the " playable " areas in GW2 feel a little “small and friendly” at least compared to Lineage 2, including even Orr.

So my suggestion is why don’t we bring that "massiveness " more into gameplay ? Just imagine Divinity Reach being occupied by an Elder Dragon. And you can open an invasion on it, similarly to the invasion of the Cathedral of Glorious Victory ( but a lot more epic for sure ). There would be North, South, East, West invasions simultaneously to break the four seals, to get into the center of the City where it would require the might of your entire server to face a glorious Elder Dragon who can brush his teeth using Zhaitan, and rescue the beautiful helpless Queen Jenna and finally slay or chase off ( for re use purpose ) the Dragon to receive the Queen blessing kiss that give you 60 permanent boost for a stat of choice. Well, something like that.

My point is Guild War 2 should add some epicness into the PvE environment, making bigger and more concentrated areas and structures (like DR, BC ), adding some uniqueness into that massiveness and u have a fantastic atmospheric game that people could never forget even if there are much better games out of the market.

There is almost absolutely no need for that item when u hit 80. And yet u guys keep pretending that it’s valuable and throw it at us in every single type of "reward " chest possible. I’m sick of it, y not just give me some prosperous bone instead, at least I can sell them. They should not be receivable for characters level 80 because we all know it’s a tier below junk for 99% of them.

Ok I have just played this game for 2 months. I reached lv 80 in the first 2 weeks and it was the undisputed best leveling experience in any MMORPG I’ve played. Then I went through most of the dungeons, Frac, Claw, Shatterer and some living world events and thought they are fun, I always feel like they are all too short and not significant enough. All the dungeons and fracs are technically farming points after u try them once, the world bosses are well designed but can be easily reached and killed with minimum efforts and maximum reward ( which is still crap most of the time ) when u are in a massive zerg. And the living world events are generally small in term of content.

SO, I believe this game needs MUCH more significant end game contents, something that is so BIG, take so LONG and so HARD to complete, yet could be so fun, satisfying and rewarding for those who can achieve it. Something that put fear and hatred into many players, something that require fantastic coordination to pass through even from a massive zerg ( Tequali is a little bit like that, but he is just not feel big and significant enough ). Since this game story has like 5 other kicking Elder Dragons, why not bring them out ? but please let them do more than Zhaitan.

So, why don’t u guys give us a new area that is massive, atmospheric , mysterious and simply not survivable without group ? And put an epic Elder Dragon (that recommend >50 players ) at the very end, top, bottom of that area. What ? you don’t have money ? no problem, I believe most players would be happy to pay for something like that.

It has been a month and absolutely no change. This bug appear very frequently in laggy conditions like WvW and less otherwise ( It still appears quite often in crowded places like Orr against all type of monsters, which make me believe it’s a bug not intentional ) . Unfortunately, WvW and PvP are the only 2 places most people use bull charge. I hate it with passion because it makes my WvW combat very luck base.

Hi. I has a Lunaria Circle of Moon with 4 % magic find. It is stated in the announcement that you can choose 1 of the random stat to compensate for the lost of magic find on your item, but the option does not show up to me. Is this a bug or the stat compensation only applied to exotic tier items and lower ?

I like this idea, but it should not work based on the server population, but on the present number of all sides in the WvW map.

They should give a lot more reward for outnumbered people, especially if they won. And much less for people running in big mob hoping for free kittens.

Like if u successfully defend a castle when being outnumbered 1 to 10 you get an exotic and triple amount of Wxp. If you successfully get a castle with 10 times bigger force than the enemy you get a dung pie and 1 world xp cause that how impressive you are.

I agree, the biggest problem with Guild War is there are very limited PvE stuffs to do after 80. Dungeons and fractals are fun but simply not enough. There should be several big and difficult areas like Orr ( with a lot more group events and discovery ) for level 80 character with deadly dungeons at the deep end of each area, that only good groups can reach (not just a big zerg mob ) and great groups can finish.

Thank, but what I mean is for ex: 1 is the default button for skill 1, if u press 1 your char will auto attack regardless of whether there is any target there or not.

I think that function could be much more convenient with mouse 1, u click it and your char spam auto attack, no need to have a target. The concept should be simple if you have played many other classic RPG like Fable or the Elder Scrolls, you click mouse 1, character auto attack.

Like when I fight a theif for ex, they always cloak whenever they can thus there is no target, so I want to repeatedly spam auto attack to hit them randomly, but my left hand fingers are not free to do such thing, because they have to control the movement and casting other skills. On the other hand, my right hand index finger has almost nothing to do, which feel ridiculous.

Why can't I use mouse 1 for weapon skill 1 ?

Jesus, why nobody understand ? I need a button that enable auto attack spamming even when there is no target. And the left click is the best but it’s not available, can’t use the right click because u have to keep it to control the camera.

I play in WhiteSide Ridge from Europe. Normally the ping is ok but when I enter WvW at slightly peak time the lag is beyond horrid. Sometimes it’s hard to even walk through a door nevermind fighting anybody. So is there any server that provide decent ping for Oceania ?

When I use Rush, the fifth weapon skill of the GS. On many occasion, I run pass the target for a considerable distance, strike their air and expose my back to them, which is annoying. I’m surprised this problem exists considering the popularity of GS users.
