Tequatl was supposed to bring enjoyment for people who craved difficulty but the whole encounter is ruined by two things, poor scaling and consumables.
Why was Tequatl made specifically for large zergs? Because of how poorly the boss scales low population servers have zero chance to bring him down and the event is now abandoned. It needs to be scaled properly for at least 20 people.
Consumables are another big problem that makes it so large zergs will always bring him down during burn phases, most notably the Fire Elemental. Consumables trivialize other content which anet fixed so why is this a non issue with Tequatl.
Discuss.

http://www.relicsoforr.com/?p=2861John: The most common market failure I see is asymmetry of information leading to insider trading. This means that players gain knowledge they shouldn’t have through any of various nefarious means, and use that knowledge to gain an advantage on the standard trader.
so the op is not that crazy after all
Edit: how to fix that link ? anyway, copy/paste as a text
Whoever called this conspiracy out before that comment can wear their tin foil hat with pride.
But everybody keeps saying its so easy to do 30-49. So why shouldn’t they start at 50?
Because 30+ fractals now have some sort of challenge they didn’t have before. If they capped it at 50 then 30+ must now be pretty hard with the “new instabilities”. Gonna have to wait and see what they did.
Ok, but do you at least understand why we would be angry at having our progress rolled back?
Yes and No. I have my main at 50 and it sucks to lose that work I put into it grinding for fractal skins but we now get gold, fractal weapons that dont require a transmutation crystal, difficulty adjustments that most likely warrants a level 50 cap, especially with the 3 new fractals and new instabilities.
It’s true that certain professions have an easier time simply dealing with soaking up damage with larger HP pools, but it’s arguable that this is clearly better than the damage avoidance or support mechanics of others. Regardless, adding enemies with endlessly increasing damage output and health isn’t really a very interesting way to add difficulty. That’s why we reduced the HP/Damage scaling in Fractals somewhat and started replacing it with the Mistlock Instabilities that you’ll find starting at level 31.
I wouldn’t say arguable, and I do highly recommend you guys to test content on other classes instead of Warriors, I never understood why you adopted the concept of heavy armored = highest hp pool, best defense AND best damage.
Its not just the high HP pool but the fact you have such high HP that you have no reason to trait or gear for more HP, plus the higher base armor helps quite a bit to.
So you pretty much have everything you need and can go full zerk, dps spam like no tomorrow and dodge here and there some.
How come whenever I do fractals its not that epic :’(
snip
Agreed. Warrior and Guardian are very easy to play while others take a bit more to survive or deal sufficient damage. I feel that the things the non warrior or guardian classes suffer from are tedious mechanics that reduce the quality of life. Translation… non heavies seem to require more button mashing, are slow or have plain imbalance issues.
(edited by Dromar.1027)
Care to share what those instabilities are?
Probably debuffs that last throughout the entire fractal.
Elitists get a bad rap because some are rude and smug.
There was this WvW commander who would call everyone bad when the 60 man zerg didn’t follow his direction. He would even call people badges because they’re just a free badge of honor. Another thing he would do was call PvEers care bears constantly for stuff like stacking, using exploits, skipping and pretty much anything that didn’t involve just running in and face tanking everything. In the end he made people feel like dirt and it destroyed moral and possibly a community.
The difference is more dps but more risk. Shield is safer and the 30 second cd doesnt mean anything if you use your dodges and any other skills that block or evade attacks efficiently.
A flaw with the sword is if you get nailed by multiple projectiles you have to dodge to avoid being killed since sword is one block. What sword is really good for is his attack where he targets a person with one projectile.
tl;dr
sword = more dps, more risk
shield = less dps but safer
They should just add a face to face trade system like GW1 had along with the tp. I liked the AH in WoW but the TP in GW2 just kitten es me off because of the sheer volume and rapid price fluctuations.
….or quartz is used in ascended celestial armor which is most likely true. Also given the fact the market was flooded with quartz during the event and now that supply has dwindled it makes for an easy target for power traders. I would have invested in it if I wasn’t so poor.
But everybody keeps saying its so easy to do 30-49. So why shouldn’t they start at 50?

I get decent pugs all the time for 48. IDK how you keep getting bad ones or are you just very picky?
Ill take John Smith at his word about the 300k+ gold. 11k gold im jelly(in a good way) but if a player has amassed gold into six digits something is clearly wrong with the game whether you think so or not.
It is probably safe to say the Trading Post, while a nice thing in the beginning, has proven to be broken due to people gaining mass amounts of gold with hardly any risk. Sites like GW2 spidey dont exactly help and neither does Anet giving tips before a patch goes live.
GW1 had many people that were rich beyond belief and they didn’t stop there, they created false supply shortages with rare weapons that did not drop anymore… now look at the molten jetpack on the tp. It went from 100g-5/600g in about 2 weeks. A single player can not influence markets but a group of players most definitely can if the supply was low enough from the beginning.
This is why you never introduce limited time items that can be sold from player to player. You would think Anet would learn a lesson from the asian minipets from GW1.
Who knows what its purpose is, all I know is it smells fishy.
Its speculation trading but it will be required for celestial ascended armor most def. Everything having to do with crafting armor has shot up or will soon. Plus Quartz is not your typical material, the supply that built up during the Bazaar LS is now dwindling with very little put back into the market through the home instance node, making it an easy target for power traders.
They keep beating around the bush instead of putting in raids. Ten man instanced raids would be perfect for this game yet they claim it would split the community when it’s already split between hardcore and casual players.
I know this may be off topic but I wish they would just give fractal capacitors the rest of the stat combos and give everyone a free reset.
The only thing I hate about the transmutation crystals is the gem shop is the only reasonable way to get them. Sure you can get them from dailies, monthlies and blacklion chests but with 2k hours of play I have rarely seen any.
I’ll admit the targeting system is not as good as it should be.
How do people interpret this as precursor hunt? Just curious.
The datamined information only mentions using legendary skins in PvP by turning in shards (no doubt you get them from tPvP). That’s not a precursor hunt. In fact it has zero to do with precursors.
The info with the rusty BL chest doesnt even imply a precursor hunt, just another cheap way to get us to spend money on gems.
Scroll to the bottom where it says codes and read the info in parentheses. Click on it to see the full list.
They brought back fused and sclerite weapons so chances are actually not that bad for the jetpack or monocle to drop from the fractals.
If they make fractal weapons easier to get after a year of grinding fractals I will simply walk into mordor.
Well, would you rather have it stay the way it is? It would be a huge improvement, right? If you already have a Fractal Weapon, the fact that you’ve fought for it more than most is still true.
It would have been a huge improvement 11 months ago but knowing what I know now about the direction of the game I would keep it the same. The problem in the game is skins are not rewarded for challenging feats but a combination of cash or gold. RNG fills the gaps but people are kitten ed because it was done so wrong by making everything drop everywhere and including it in black lion chests where a large majority of decent skins go now.
Fractals is the closest thing we have that shows players did something challenging that doesn’t include a solo 15 second lupi kill.
If they make fractal weapons easier to get after a year of grinding fractals I will simply walk into mordor.
Its a known fact defiant blows in its current from. Were still waiting for a dungeon revamp that doesn’t include keyboard shattering mechanics.
The dungeons were supposed to be explorable but were made into 3 separate paths with linear events and an end boss. This can be seen mostly in AC where you have a room of chickens or w/e, a random troll bursting through the wall and an entire room after the last boss that has nothing in it. The way I imagined it was supposed to be was you had to explore every inch of the map to find hidden bosses, puzzles and other things that rotated to different parts of the map every new instance.
9 time out of 10 if there is something you don’t like about gw2 it is probably because the game was rushed in the beginning or can be traced back to that reason. Gw2 needed at least another year of development.
@Dromar there’s actually a PoI in Arah that we can not physically get to called The Dragons Lair (can be seen in game), so my bet is they literally ran outta time and rushed the Zhaitan fight into being only 2 phases instead of something much larger, I mean even the cutscenes make it seem like more is supposed to happen.
hmmmm… maybe there was supposed to be 1-2 more phases after you knock him off the tower.
The OP seems to be worried about swapping the gathering tools. Anet just needs to put them in the unlocked rewards on the achievement tab so every character can have one or make a new tab that stores account wide items like the infinite tools, copper fed salvage and boosters.
It’s called a “Bank”.
IDK man its quite a jog to the bank from the wp.
Really though just make the bank accessible from the inventory tab from anywhere
That is already in the game through a permanent and non-permanent portable golem banker.
The brilliance of the OP’s suggestion is that, due to the limited space of the suggested account bag, it doesn’t compete with the existing gem store items, such as the golem banker, but supplements them in a major way (which, as I explained above, will generate further gem purchases, so everybody wins).
I was being sarcastic. Since my earlier post wasn’t clear I will just say no because I think there are better ideas out there about swapping infinite gathering tools and salvage kits between characters.
I’ll approve of this message if they add them as rare drops to specific zone DEs and dungeons. I hate crap thats limited.
Even if they focused to the dragons I still dont think it will feel living because of how disney the story is.
Don’t sit there and support bad ideas just because leveling doesn’t fulfill the fun factor anymore. That’s a whole other issue that needs to be addressed instead of putting a cheap band-aid over it.
Downplaying the complexity of the game to support instant 80 cash shop items is so asinine it makes me want bang my head against the wall.
Feel free to bang your head against a wall of your choice all day, but, if you care for my advice, use the time to read my post again.
I made two statements.
- Instant 80 scrolls wouldn’t cause a flood of bads.
- I want instant 80 scrolls because I don’t like leveling.
I hope I made my point of view a litte bit more obvious now.
- Completely based on theory.
- Then go play a game w/o leveling.
The statement, that this game would be full of 80 noobs and dungeonfailbobs bc everyone could skip the leveling process is simply not true.
If you need 80 (eighty!) levels to learn 4 weapons and 20 Utilitiskills, than this game is maybe a little bit complex for you.
You don’t learn anything about dungeons while leveling. If player A levels his char in, lets say, one week, to 80, and player B uses the instant 80 scroll and then spends only half a week in dungeons, well, which one would you rather have in your group?
It’s not about a mesmer knowig that he has a skill named Feedback. He needs to know when to use it, or otherwise he’s just going to produce pretty purple bubbles at random.
Oh, and why do you think we have so many LB-bear Ranger in dungeons? They tried this tactic in open PvE while leveling, it worked, and now they are convinced that this build is viable. Because, you know, it worked up to now, why should I listen to some random guy I met in Arah? What, now he wants me to use reflection? Isn’t that the thing Guardians have? I’m a Ranger, kitten, what a noob…
I support this idea. Instant 80 scrolls would be awesome. If thats too much, convert the instant 20 scrolls to + 20 lvl scrolls. I have enough of them…
You know, play the way I want. And I DON’T want to play open PvE. I want to play both dungeons and WvW on a competitive level.
Downplaying the complexity of the game to support instant 80 cash shop items is so asinine it makes me want bang my head against the wall.
This game will never get new classes due to balance issues. What we will get is more weapons and races.
Its just not sensible to put a scroll in that lets you go from 1-80 instantly. The reason levels exist is so you can learn the mechanics of the class better.
It’s called a “Bank”.
IDK man its quite a jog to the bank from the wp.
Really though just make the bank accessible from the inventory tab from anywhere

The current ascended back items don’t give many choices on stats compared to the other ascended trinkets and with the recent reset of weapons that had magic find I think its time to implement the rest of the stat combos for them.
Put the missing combos in for asc back items
Let people who already got one choose their stats
????
Profit
Ascended and Legendary gear should be account bound instead of soul bound at the very least.
If it really is a ploy to get people playing more then it works but it also may infuriate them to stop playing all together.
A person buys gw2, gets a char to 80 and wants to do some healing so he gets clerics gear. He soon finds out clerics was the wrong choice because of stat imbalances and quits gw2.
(edited by Dromar.1027)
Its boring just like all the others.
Im betting the reactor is the new maw for uneven fractals or in a rotation with it on even ones.
Maw – You cant go behind his head anymore. They put another green block to block the path.
Asura Fractal – Mesmer can’t teleport anymore past the second set of platforms.
Cliffside – Going to take some more research as the bug was never a sure thing but it seems the boss at the end no longer drops his hammer if stacked inside him. He did come down with MS if we stayed inside him so you can just pound on him.
Something is wrong with the server network. If your in a party with people from other servers you will get disconnected if your not on the server the instance was created on.
I used one of my guests today for JQ and now I have Blackgate and SoR as my guests because that was the server my CoF p1 and 2 were on earlier.
It seems entering an instance created on another server will actually put you on that server and if your 2 guests are gone it will d/c you.
Its going to be difficult to figure out a balancing system for the mess wvw is in. Things that come to mind are AI companions like golems or guards that accompany a small zerg to give them extra numbers. Another easy but non creative solution is to do plain stat boosters.
Another idea is use siege to devastate large zergs and servers that have a tight grip on a map. Rocket artillery, chemical weapons and kinetic bombardment come to mind. WvW would be so much better if it had huge turnovers due to massive weaponry but for this to work they need to be time adjusted for balance purposes.
These siege weapons deactivate when the numbers and/or control of the map start to even out. Also you can have only one siege built at a time alongside the tractor beam. Changing siege puts it on cooldown based on the next siege being built.
Oribtal Strike: A tractor beam changes the trajectory of objects from space such as meteors to hit a large area with devastating force. Used to crush unstoppable zergs. Targets massive zergs randomly and automatically but is a rare occurrence. Will also destroy siege, gates and walls. Players hit by their own side will get hit by a ball of light that resurrects them from a canon at their base.
Poison Gas: Launched on towers to empty them of everything but the Tower Lord. Covers every inch of the tower for 2 minutes. Lords wear special gas masks to protect them from the deadly poison.
Napalm: Launched on supply camps to stop dolyaks and players from getting supply by creating a huge persistent AoE fire. Covers all of the camp and only active on one camp at a time.
Ballistic Missile: Fires a projectile that splits into multiple explosives meant to devastate keeps. Hits are random and they either hit walls, nps or supply. Fires every five minutes.
These are just ideas I have thought of in the past.
I still wonder how the Zhaitan encounter ended up like that. Even if it was rushed its so bad you think they would have put it higher up on the list of things to fix before launch.
The current LS arc with Scarlet still has time to redeem itself, it all depends on the execution of the final one or two LS patches. The whole gripe about the krait being xenophobic/racist puts a plot hole in the LS is kind of silly. For one the story isnt even finished and two, why can’t they change? Someone gives you a bunch of super sacred objects of your culture you might turn from xenophobic to grateful. Her plot might also have attracted them work with the NC.
to tell u the truth I like the video ,and I like the posability that this whole living storyes we had so far could have such a grand plot ,but Im afraid that we’re in for disapointment .What if all of this ends up to have some stupid ending ….sorry for bad english
It wont make a difference. Were so use to dull LS content that we half expect the ending to be bad.
I do however think this theory is correct but stories in video games rely on how well they are executed through the game and so far that has been lousy because they release tidbits every two weeks. It’s like watching 10 minutes of a movie and waiting two weeks to watch another 10 minutes each time.
2 guildies, 3 pugs. Theres ur sign.
When u see that u leave but for ultimate protection you should always start the instance.
Anet will probably never fix the asinine instance system they built. They suck when it comes to that sort of stuff.
The armors look terrible. I cant wait to grind for them and then grind for transmutation crystals to apply my t3 armor. /sarcasm
Another reason why RNG is stupid. The MF is basically a slot machine.
Cmon Anet why wont you give players the chance to earn a Legendary that doesnt involve cash or gold.
