Mistform does not give stability lol, its just immune. However immune also prevents you from getting knocked down/stunned.
Hence it gives you stability, ie you cannot be knocked down, stunned, or controlled.
Uh.. “Morph into an invulnerable, vaporous mist for a brief time.”
In that sentence as you put it yes, it does indirectly give you stability, but only beacuse you are immune to attacks. If you would be able to get CC:ed in mist form then you would not be invulnerable anymore, hence take away the whole point with the skill (which is not to stomp ppl, btw).Invulnerable means indestructible not immovable, and it directly gives you stability. Indirect stability would be preventing others from CCing you (ie blind), rather than preventing you from being CC’d (balance stance)
Wut.
If you are invuln, no one can push, pull, knockback, knockdown, blowout, fear or do anything that can move you and it does not grant you Stability, you actually are in the most scientific sense immovable. What you call indirect stability (i.e. blind) is CC. Idk what indirect Stability is supposed to be but its just called CC, thats all its ever been called because it is in no way shape or form stability from anyones stand point in a fight.
Some people here said Mist Form is basically stability, well it’s not because there are still components of CC that go through Stability and not Mist Form.
Listen my internet friend, Stability is an actual buff in the game, not slang we throw around to describe someone who is mitigating cc skills, as you were doing. When I pop Distortion I dont tell my teammates I have stability because I don’t.
Mist Form is just like stone form, its not a buff and it doesnt apply anything, it changes your state of being into that form that provides a ridonkulous amount of protection, and a kitten advantage over most classes in a competitive environment.
If I’m in a tournament and someone is downing a teammate and I am on my Mesmer disrupting a spike, even if people have stability, is easy. I can strip 9 boons from them with a couple key strokes and hit them with either gs 5 or pistol 5 quick enough to stop a stomp(of course this is for clutch situations, generally if someone has stability it doesnt take that much to remove it and cc). Mist Form: “GG bro, sorry, you’re dead because we didnt get to the rez fast enough and can’t CC the ele mist stomping you.”
It takes quick responses and not being crap to stop stomps when people are trying to use aegis or stability to ensure the stomp, it’s literally impossible to stop a Mist Form stomp short of rezzing your teammate. Which is easy unless the Ele is immediately stomping them as they go into downed state, which is the case on most hvt’s in a teamfight.

I’m sure there is more to pvp than nice score boards. Play some more, maybe you’ll learn to love it. :p
More people have been exposed to tournaments lately and are discovering glassy builds are bad for most roles.
A lot of classes have access to these abilities that would give them an advantage at the buff, since you clearly understand this why dont you play around it? I just dont think its an exploit, but we’ll see. If it is I’ll eat my words.
you cant say its not exploit man!!
How can a mesmer, cap the kittenng point without being there!!!. Come on!
The exact same way they could spike a person without being there, the same way thief does it, just like ele when they pop vapor form.
The fact that many classes have a few ways of doing these types of things says its not an exploit.
It may not be designed like that on purpose, and they may even change it but that doesnt make it an exploit.
Hopefully if we keep bumping it like this someone will notice and do something. No one seems to be caring.
I only played a couple tournies last night and noticed I wasnt getting points off a necro that was in one of the matches, didn’t think it was this serious though.
AFAIK the Orrian staff is still bugged and therefore does not exist in sPvP as a usable skin.
This guy is trolling, dont pay any attention. Orrian staff is very much so an attainable skin. Better luck in the future though.
1) Dont go into the water
2) If you do go into the water its your own fault for choosing to go into the water knowing there are sharks there
3)???
4)Profit.
You know the sharks are there, you have eyeballs on the front of your face that you can point towards the controlled nodes icons and see if the sharks will attack you, and yet you aren’t. Come on ol’ chap use that brain of yours.
You can do this with a variety of classes.
A thief can start on a buff, shadow step port away then port back to finish it.Also haste increases the rate at which u take the buff, making timewarp teamfight on a buff super powerful. Also, timewarp+mistform etc=uninteruptable cap.
^What Daydream said.
This is not an exploit, its just unfortunate that some of us think to do these things while everyone else gets jealous they didnt think of it on their own and cries exploit to the forum. The only issue I have with it is it creates incentive to bring certain classes, even though I dont think its necessary to bring certain classes the principal is what matters.
+1
Temple is still full of bugs that need to be fixed ASAP :
Portal + channeling
Invulnerability while channeling not canceling (not intented because we can’t start channel while invul)I don’t understand how they can just put it in the paid rotation while there are still tons of bugs (and these bugs are here since sooo long)

I see a lot of people upset with this patch that thought this was supposed to be a PvP patch. I’m at work right now so I can’t backtrack every post by ANet but I’m 99% sure they said to look to February for the pvp patch. I mean, correct me if I’m wrong, and if I’m wrong then I’m a bit upset too.
looked like this only was about a 600range but used 4-5 in a row to get from node to node i couldnt even catch up with rtl so def a hack. seen this done twice in spvp this morning !
That’s not spvp. It’s WvW.
i know that genius…
This guardian is combo’ing Sword 2 ‘Flashing Blade’ and the Utility skill ’Judge’s Intervention’.
There is no “teleport hack”. You just need to broaden your understanding of what people are capable of in this game.
You’ll get there.
Edit: I figured I should probably clarify – Both of those skills will teleport you their max distance without the target being in range, so it looks like they are just teleporting 600-900 range in front of them.
Also, Flashing Blade is only a 10 second cool down, thats why they do it so often.

I love this stuff because I love the opportunity to learn, thanks Zoose.
Are all the pvp servers segregated? I thought that the hotm was like the over flow and you got to play against people from other servers. If that is not the case then I have a serious decision I have to make.
Correct, they are all segregated. Each Home World has it’s own HotM.
Jade Quarry, top NA wvw server and their heart of the mists is dead.
Like other people have said in this thread as well as all the other threads just like this one, Anvil Rock is the answer.
See you there internet friend.
Hey! Most of us(your fellow spvp’ers) are on Anvil Rock. Come join us and feel free to contact me whenever I’m online for groups or questions.
I enjoyed reading this, great post. I especially agree with #3, all of the issues and points are good and solid, hopefully the community will take what someone with your status says to heart.
I doubt they’ll remove the AoE. Thieves and Mesmers can both be spikey, Thieves have more straight forward single target spike, our’s is AoE with less damage. If they remove the AoE they would need to increase the damage output, or make it harder to avoid.
Dyes are really cheap, if you win paids or even just spam them when you can making money isnt too hard.
Even though I got nearly 2 gold for the gems I got for doing paids last night, I feel you. PvPers need dyes too ANet, and the rare unidentified one doesn’t cut it! Must I keep buying gems for gold because I don’t PvP? :p And yeah..I waste money on gems occasionally, I’m not poor and love supporting the game.
If you have 50+ tournament wins and are having that much trouble I’m sure my teammates won’t mind bringing you along when we do frees if we have a spot open. Feel free to contact me in game.
WMD Waste Management and Disposal will be there, if we don’t win that’s fine, just trying to help the free chest express get moving lol.
This person is trolling you. If you look back through the pages there are others asking this question. Anvil Rock is the place to be. Look, we have Zoose.
he asked for EU server, Anvil Rock is NA spvp capital, desolation is EU spvp capital.
Im aware, still, Anvil Rock.
You are overwhelmed by a few extra copies of characters, dont calmly take a moment to target the proper target and thats why you arent having fun? Sounds like you should adjust how you play.
Dont use healing spring, lol, its worse that well of blood.
This isnt a very tpvp viable build, right now the tanky trap ranger is what you want for tpvp. Just work on your build and you’ll get it down some day.
You can trait to have your pet pull conditions, no need to waste a signet on it, rampage as one can easily be negated by any decent tpvp group with a guardian, necro or mesmer.
Ranger bunker works well 1v1 but thats sadly not the case most of the time in tPvP and a 1v1 bunker does absolutely nothing for your team at all ever.
This doesnt work, however there is a bug right now that keeps a stealthed person targeted after they’ve stealthed for about a second. Is this what you are complaining about?
It needs to be reworked. Make it deal a % dmg reflection. Not based on the # of hits.
The mere existence of it in it’s current form completely shuts out certain builds eg. S/P Thief.
I couldve sworn thats what Retaliation did originally, 33% of the damage dealt to you by a player was reflected back to them.

The people you are fighting make terrible terrible decisions, was this done in hotjoins or vs mid-day free tourney sub rank10 pugs?
tPvP is part of sPvP, maybe they’ll grant you a tPvP sub forum once there are more than 4 solid tPvP posts a week from members.
fotm thief and ele check
old played out dubstep check
overlydone editing checkI made it to 30 seconds
Lol, I actually agree with you.
Thats a great point Maylo, never really considered that but I’m not sure I actually came across that in tournies.
Hammerheart brings up a good point also, and I actually tpvp with him often so what we’ve been doing lately is queueing as popular meta compositions and then switching at the last possible second, lol. Sometimes it works, most of the time people dont care enough to switch classes around to hard counter us.
In all games it’s easy to hard counter what someone brings to the table, choosing to do so can stem from multiple reasons: Recognizing its usefulness, which is sometimes combined with sucking really bad so you have to hard counter the enemy, which is also sometimes combined with compensation for lack of experience amongst the team or lack of skill. Just my observation. Hard countering happens all the time in MTG and games like Warhammer and Warmachine, it’s generally considered cheap but on the internet theres no real human interaction and winning is more important anyways.
And lets be honest Hammerheart, sometimes we see double bunker on foefire or other common meta comps and swap what we are playing to compliment our strategy(not necessarily to hard counter though).
I’m sure this is coming. Some things, like this, you think would be part of release but oh well.
I can’twatch it on my phone, nooooo. Now I have to wait until I get home.
I look forward to it though.
Oh Sprawl, saying funny things and running it into the ground as usual.
I love these videos, I’d love to see more of some different compositions outside of the meta. Thanks for posting the builds too!
Your mw would hit harder if you went 15 points into the first trait line, its really easy to get 3 clones up and use f3 to Daze AND put 23~ stacks of vuln while simultaneously mindwracking with about 500+ more damage per clone.
Thats cool you do this semi-faceroll wanna be thing to make mesmers look kitten but you are just making yourself look bad.
Mission accomplished. Some people enjoy spvp and are willing to talk about it, some people like Sprawl get their RL feelings hurt.
(edited by EaGrimdarK.7849)
WvW isnt PvP, its linear PvE with the ability to kill others that are in the way of you getting your cute PvE castle.
If you want to win 2v1’s you need to play the right class.
I really dont understand how a couple people here in my thread dont understand how positive feedback is also considered constructive criticism(aka discussion). You probably have never been in management or leadership type roles in your lives, which is why you dont understand. Followers tend to complain a lot about the things that are out of their control which is why you followers think discussion forums = complain about what you think is bad forums.
Simply, it’s not. This is a thread to discuss what we enjoy about sPvP so they can continue working on things we all enjoy. Want to know why? Because they will always, ALWAYS address the issues and concerns people have about stuff that id OP or doesnt work but if they dont hear what they are doing right all they have to go off of are stabs in the dark.
On a side note, hey the reds are posting in our little corner of the forums.
(edited by EaGrimdarK.7849)
I guess in the EU theres a lot of noob pug’s to farm QP’s off of still.
EaGrimdarK, ty for that awsome topic. Keep up the good work, don’t let anyone say something negative about this game.
The pvp is awsome, the balance is good, there’s a lot of challenge, GW2 is going to be as popular as SC2 for sure.
Thanks man, there are a lot of people that got upset with what I said. I feel that a lot of people expected one thing and when they showed up to sPvP and couldnt keep up they got upset. All they need to do is relax and enjoy themselves, they could do a lot of good if they would contribute to their relative PvE forums, instead they are in the sPvP forums trying to derail our constructive threads.
Like I said before, I feel that this game needs some room to breath. A lot of people are comparing it to well established games like WoW and League. I remember when League came out, it was a moba for children and the only people that wanted to touch it were kids that cared more about graphics than gameplay. Now more than a million children play League as well as people who have found successful e-sport careers amongst that low-skill meta and its just not fair to compare gw2 to that. It took a lot longer than 4 months for league of legends to get a sizeable fanbase, yet people are expecting GW2 to already be up there where GW1 was. Thats impossible for 4 months of being released, and very stupid to expect. There are a lot of stupid people out there though, but thank goodness only a few of them have reared their young heads here.
It really reminds me of league of legends vs dota2. League kids expect it to be easy and simple, but its not so they cry because thats how they usually get what they want. Dota2 people enjoy what they do because the skill curve is respectable, the game looks respectable and the community makes it harder and has respectable developers that dont need to re-work every new champ they release. Gw2 is receiving a lot of the same unwarranted grief that Dota 2 did when the league kiddies had their kittens challenged by a higher skill level game.
There will just always be people who have to put something down just because they arent as good at it or because they can’t have fun.

I consider sPvP’ers seperate from PvE’ers because of my experiences from GW1, my bad. I forgot about the other crowd GW2 pulled in. Though I will admit it was negative of me, I still hold to the opinion that a lot of this guy’s concerns are superficial. PvE incentive would be acceptable to get community exposure going but most PvE’ers wont stay. They will get their PvE incentive reward and leave.
In GW1 there are direct rewards to PvE that are gained from PvP. Which include unlocking skills, Zaishen Keys, unlocking pets for rangers, and gaining money from winning tournaments, and the Zaishen quests were implemented later.
Im aware, and its totally my fault i didn’t relate what I meant, I’ve messed up a lot in this thread so far so I’m just going to back down haha.
I think most of OPs points are clear and needed to be implemented into the game, idk what’s up with this guy lol
I never said they shouldnt be implemented lol. I was questioning the validity of their importance at the moment.

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying, but please try to be friendly instead of being so hostile.
There are some things in the OP that should be implemented. For example, spectator client is in the works, but streams are not a replacement for that. Leavers are a problem, but instead of saying there’s no way to fix it, maybe with a discussion a solution can be thought up to at least put a dent into it.
Also, providing PvE incentives for competing in sPvP can be a great gateway for newer players to start playing sPvP. There’s a lot of people that just do dungeons, WvW, etc. When a rating system comes out I think it would be a great idea to give some incentives for PvEers to try out sPvP again.
Lastly, Be Friendly! There’s no reason to split the community into sPvPers vs non-sPvPers. We all play this game because we love guild wars 2! Embrace it.
Yes, I totally agree which is why I deleted my post, it was too negative. :\
All you did was say QQ l2p.
It’s sad you want to provide your opinion but do nothing but reject other’s opinions that contradict your own with contrite responses of ignorant refusal. /sarcasm Yeah you totally care about what you have to say. Ha, you just want to say some cool sounding things and feel better about yourself and the quality of your opinion by getting people to agree with your generic superficial concerns.
I realized this as well as some other things, hence me deleting my post. Though I dont mind everyone getting the chance to read it. I just decided you werent worth it after hitting the Post button. My bad.
Edit: I said QQ once, never said L2P and provided depthful reasoning as to why I thought you were wrong, you have no respect for the communities opinion, you just want people to like you and agree with you.

Yo! I see you a lot in free tourneys, though I havent been on in the last few days. You usually see me on Foefire and BoK as the Guardian Nunganok, or Mesmer Cromlech Gate from WMD – Waste Management and Disposal. I wouldnt be surprised if you dont remember me since you do so many tournies but i see you guys almost every night. :P
Me and my team arent oceanic but we are on during oceanic prime time so I’ll be adding you to friends and would love to have the chance to earn the invite to BZ. Ive got over 120 matches played with a 1.3 w/l ratio.
See you in some free tourneys soon I’m sure.
this game right now is a closed beta: closed because u need to buy the game to play, beta because the game is incomplete.
i can understand a lot of players like this game. but it does not means this game is competitive enough to “live” peacefully for the next 3-5 years because of no other better games.
it means for me that if i could , i would no have spent €50 for this game. not right now.
How is this game incomplete? Because everything that will ever come out for it isnt out yet? Your statement is really ridiculous. WoW, WAR, Aion, and Rift, 4 very popular MMO launches in the US all lacked MAJOR aspects at launch, did you make the exact same post on those forums about them being incomplete? Were you around for ANY of those launches? Do you actually have enough experience with this sort of thing to make these kinds of stupid claims? I dont care what you say your credentials are but you should ask yourself these questions before saying something is incomplete. By saying this game is incomplete you are proving you dont know what an average MMO release/first year is like. You probably mainly play console games.
I’m a “try-hard” but not competitively in tournaments, only casually rolling nubs
If I had to pay $60 for this game’s pvp including wvw then I’d still do it.
Exactly. The way I look at it is I would pay $60 for battlefield 3, never play the campaign and just play multiplayer. There isnt any other game id rather be pvp’ing in, so why not just make the best of the situation instead of being like Sprawl.3891 and make it worse for everyone else.
if nobody else agreed with him PvP would be thriving, but it’s not. paids only pop during primetime, frees have longer and longer waits and less and less hot join servers are full. there’s a reason for all of that.
I have to agree with everyone else besides you because they are right and you are wrong, free’s queues have only gotten faster since paid’s have lost interest. And hotjoin servers are just as full as ever. You clearly do not pvp and have stated before that you have no interest in anet’s pvp so who are you in here with your garbage opinion? You keep commenting these empty responses that no one believes because they’re simply not true. If you want spvp to be dead so bad why are you still here? Why dont you leave and join the rage-quit-pub-scrubs that you are saying is the majority of people that tried spvp.
Anyways, in response to a couple posts above me: Ive found that when you play a main in spvp and then move onto a new class it’s easy to expect the class you are playing to preform a certain way since you see it perform that way when you play against it all the time. Also its very tempting and easy to hop onto your main when you are on an alt and losing in spvp, because you feel like if you were on your main you could pwn faces. There are a lot of hard to find tricks, synergies, and combos that are hard to see at first, but for me the reward is being proficient in multiple archetypes and builds within those archetypes. Being a well rounded player is essential to your success in sPvP, which to me is really really awesome.
They’ve designed a game with amazing role archetypes, diversity of classes and builds within those archetypes in an environment that doesnt require you but rewards you if you are well rounded and proficient in multiple builds on multiple classes.
