I wouldve said most like you instructed to say in your OP but we dont have a lot of members so the ratio is high but the actual number is low. We spvp every single day. Even though this account is banned Im on my other gf’s second account.

I should add that we play around 9pm-5am PST daily, so generally thats oceanic times but we are all on the west coast of the best country in the world or in Australia.

Many times I’ve heard people say that feb. would be THE PvP patch (I believe Anet themselves stated that jan and feb would be for wvw and pvp?). Since november we have been told that custom arena’s are coming soon and so far, based upon the information released so far, the “PvP” patch will only include a new map, rating (which is now already somewhat implemented), and better rewards? Anyone who cares more about spvp than PvE but has ever wanted dyes or items from the Gem Shop has to pay out of their pocket. However, PvE’ers and WvW(same thing as pve) players dont have to pay out of their pocket to the same extent.

I’ve realized(and others probably have as well) an extremely simple solution to this general concern which will effect sPvP, as well as a few other aspects of the game and it’s community in a positive way. Remove the account bind on crafted Unidentified Dyes in sPvP.

The dye isn’t bound once you identify it, so it’s possible to sell the dye’s you craft once you have identified them, however you cannot sell them in their unidentified form which would sell for much more than the individual dyes themselves. (though not enough as to negate the necessity of farming glory for a reasonable amount of time to fund the crafting if you were able to sell them in their unidentified form)

I know earning in game gold isn’t really at the forefront of sPvP concerns right now but I also know a lot of people care about making gold while dedicating themselves to s/tPvP.

Although some people have hundreds of thousands of glory racked up most people don’t. The amount of time it takes to get that much glory for the average player equates to a lot of play time, and if we could simply sell the Unidentified Dyes on the auction house I know a lot of people would use that glory, and then be in hotjoins and tournaments within 20 minutes of removing the account bind. People who spend a fraction of the time they used to spend in those hotjoins and tournaments, if they go into hotjoins at all anymore. More people would begin caring about winning those tournaments for the glory bonuses. More people would be in hotjoins becuase that’s easier and quicker. Maybe not the top elites but I know I would be in hotjoins and tournaments more. Once that initial surplus of glory most of us have is gone those who are interested in making gold from spvp will continue to be in there.

TL;DR

Selling Unidentified Dyes on the auction house(not just the dyes once they are identified) is an easy way to implement a source of income in sPvP that promotes activity in the general public areas of sPvP(i.e. Hotjoins) as well as tournaments which in turn promotes gem conversions, trading post activity, and other facets of the game.

Please remove the account bind on Unidentified Dyes. You can sell them once they are identified and the average price of Unidentified Dyes, which will dip, isn’t so much as to substantially mess up the economy in general, so why not?

You can start your own groups and not require a rank. Guest over to Anvil Rock when you want to do some spvp, there is a larger community and groups/guilds that don’t require you to have been playing in spvp since day 1.

I personally stopped PvP’ing in WoW after TBC, I have one HWL and one WL toon and I’ve been playing mmo’s for their pvp since Asheron’s Call. Arenas are a terrible yet convenient format for pvp. ANet has stated why 2v2 and 3v3 are not yet viable formats of PvP which they don’t plan on implementing atm.

Also to answer your question and stay on topic: The reason that spvp’ers need gold is because we like to have dyes on our characters, dont want to delete the ones that have 20+ gold put into them so we want to buy character slots, and we would like access to the cheap novelty items in the gem shop without having to give them $10 out of our pockets when all of our PvE friends are just forking over a portion of the gold they made in a week.

Btw, I tried to find some pvp videos on your channel but it’s nothing but wvw crap, I didn’t look too hard though since I’m out celebrating the New Year. WvW is garbage. They can reliably get a quickness spike/rez in without wasting cooldowns, but they need a buff? Im sure its the big red circles that are the problem. Hot join players have no one to depend on but themselves, which means team players will get buttkittened in 1vs1 by experienced hot join players 90% of the time. Without your copy/paste builds and voice chat you aint worth a kitten

Hot join players have no idea how to play their class, work as a team, or build for synergy. Hot join players make a meh build that snags them points off downed people, and then run around in a zerg. I see a lot of hotjoin rangers using s/t instead of s/w while also using flame trap. Wut.

You are only as good as you challenge yourself to be and even hotjoins are challenging when you know nothing else. If someone has equal experience in tpvp as someone in hotjoins, the person from hotjoins will never stand a chance, ever.

I speak so skeptically because in over 800 hotjoin matches I have never been instagibbed as badly as you did… and I doubt that whatever spec that thief is using, is that rare that can pull such damage while being relatively unknown to most people.

You dont exactly have real experience in pvp lol. I could hit you for 17k backstab, literally because that damage shows up before you even know the thief is there. You dont have to be AFK because if you dont see the thief before they steal/cnd/bs you you dont really have a choice as to whether or not they are about to hit you because you dont even know they are there.
