Hi!
Could you check XII trait in chaos (Prismatic Understanding). It looks like it isn’t working at all. It didn’t cloak me for longer. Also does this trait only affect user or everyone else?
Thank you.
Be aware that PU doesn’t lenghten the duration of The Prestige, and that is intended.
@loseridoit : spatial surge used to have way more than “in line” AoE on objects (not PC/NPC). On HotW C1 boss, you could hit all of the totems from anywhere in the room (which shouldn’t be possible as they are in triangle formation). Now it doesn’t, it has way less of a lateral range.
As for blurred inscription : no it doens’t work on anything but F4. I just (re)tried it to be extra sure
Been this way since beta, I’m no dev but I think it is the expected behaviour.
(edited by Elidath.5679)
Well, there is something here that bug me off a bit. Can’t put my finger upon what exactly… like something is out of place…
Oh, wait :
I went in to sPvP and SOLOED a Bunker Guardian and condition Necromancer AT THE SAME TIME. You can call me a lair if you want, but I 1v2 and won with ease.
A mesmer winning with ease against a (supported) condi necro? I think we need to call the MIB, Mulder & Scully and professor Layton, something is definitely wrong here!
Well, it gives the same effect, with the same effect icon. One would think it’s the same thing
Facts are: Masterful Reflection works only on F4, nothing else.
On another topic : is it me or Spatial Surge’s AoE against objects (such as training dummies or door) got reduced ? It was “ludicrous” before, now it just seem “quiet lenient”.
(edited by Elidath.5679)
Blurred Inscriptions has no effect on the reflection provided by Masterful Reflection.
More exactly, only the F4 skill get benefit from masterful reflection. Blurred frenzy and blurred inscription do not. It has been this way since beta so it might be intended, but it can’t hurt to ask.
Attack a keep and you get 10pts. Hold the keep for the second hour and you get +2 points. Holding a keep for each additional hour after the second will net you +1 point. Defending a keep against invaders that spawn orange swords will give you +5pts once per hour.
This way if you actually played the game the way it was meant to be played and actually defended an objective you would be rewarded. If you capture a point you’re still rewarded. If you run unopposed for 8 hours, when people login later in the day to reclaim the tower, they’ve effectively countered all the points you contributed by doing nothing but capping points and alt+tabing and reading the forums all day.
And then best way to maintain a lead is to totally abandon the map to the ennemy. He’ll get some starting points and virtually nothing after those. Yay for metagame
Just think about something : why are those people unopposed ? Because you (as in “your world’s players”, not you personnally) weren’t there. Why should they be punished for you not defending your map ?
It being inconvenient for you isn’t a balance issue.
@ those who cry about the confusion nerf : let’s wait and see how far they nerf it before complaining, please. We could very well see a mere 5% reduction in confusion damage, wich wouldn’t kill any spec. Not saying it’ll happen, just that we don’t know. No point in crying before being hurt
Got this problem yesterday, with a strange twist. Wed id clear the mines quickly, then came the risen. After a while, a pale reaver came saying “sorry we didn’t warn you about the mines, but the road ahead is clear”. The tank never got repaired, and the risen spawned endlessly., although all the mine were indeed cleaned (we had ample time to double, triple,… decuple check ^^’ )
We exited the instance and tried again, and this time no reaver on the road. The mission went smoothly. Is that piece of dialogue some removed content which for some reason interfere?
This second time, we still cleaned the mine quickly (even more than the first time since we knew they would be here), so I don’t think the timing is of concern.
1. Seems to use your own stats, but tbc. At least it has an independant critical roll (can critic when caught projectile didn’t).
2. You get alls econdary effects. Yes, you can create clones if you catch a scepter attack from another mesmer
3. Invincibility doesn’t block friendly projectiles, so at least you can catch things like wind of chaos bounce while distorting. Couldn’t test it on ennemy pojectile yet, or with an aegis up. Glad custom arena’s are coming, it’ll help science a lot
Mimic: Single use reflection, feedback is better.
Except, as was stated before, it’s not that at all. Its description is totally misleading, and the real effect is very different from a short feedback. You can’t really compare the two.
I still don’t understand what people like about Signet of Inspiration. I hate that skill so much.
The passive is meh, it’s the active that is useful. When you are with a guardian, or in area where ennemy stack boons (good synergy with Arcane Thievery there), you can provide party-wide buffing.
Not necessarily the best skill out there, but decently usable.
1: crit change no. sigil of perc yes
2: yes u can get all boons and all cond, just 1 sec interval
Precision for 2) : yes you can get all boons, but it is also totally random (as far as we know). You can very well get only one boon, multiple time.
I wish Anet would finally fix the outmanned:
- buffing the outnumbered party players’, NPCs’ and structures’ health and thoughness by 20%-30% or so
- not show the outmanned buff to enemy, as it aseems to lead to enemy concentrating the weakest side and in worst case to stuff like spawn camping
Why should the game make the unmotivated side more powerful ? It is a valid strategical disadvantage, not a game unbalance.
Outmanned isn’t here to make you more powerful. It is there to attract more people in WvW and make it so you are not outmanned anymore. The very same reason you don’t get armor damage : so that already present people don’t leave. Like a “hey, even if you aren’t that much into WvW, you can get more benefit from fighting there, and less drawbacks if things get ugly, so come and help!”
As to not show it to the opponent, why not, but it won’t fix the fact that on some servers/at some hours, peoples don’t want (or can’t go) to WvW.
My favourite bug on the mesmer with staff…. i port into walls and objects…… and can’t get out. Can’t tell you how many times ive had to relog inside a wall and ended up loosing the came b/c of this bug. Happens on all maps
Known bug with all teleport, since the dawn of (GW2) time. Sadly.
I heard the command /bug (or was it /stuck ?) could help you getting out.
I didn’t mention the cleansing combo because it can be very situationnal. I already use my temporal curtain a lot to get retaliation going, I found I hardly had it ready for on-demand condition cleanse, and even more rarerely the opponent is close enough for the combo to reach me.
It can happen, but I can’t really say I can count on it :/
As the OP stated, the build is designed with WvW in mind. It works in sPvP, but not as well. Especially against necro since you lose the -40% duration on conditions. So in sPvP, losing against a condition necro isn’t specially you being bad (at least, not only ;P ), it is also because the build has limited condition removal.
You can win, but it will be way harder than it would be in WvW.
Have any of you already heard about nightcapping ? Lots of people (not all, I know) see it as a problem. And the match start in EU was just in the middle of nightcapping time. So whoever is up at night get the points. Not a good thing.
On the other hand, US server spread already on a lot of timezone, and are shifted from mid day to still mid day. Some will lose from it, that’s for sure, but not nearly as much as EU will gain.
I think it was a good call from ANet.
Conditions are not attacks. Invulnerability and block work only on attacks, so if you have conditions on you, you’ll get the damage even with BF or aegis.
Afaik, protection and illusionnary defense works the same (only on direct attacks), but don’t take my word for it. I don’t think there is anything in the game that reduce condition damages, short of cleansing them entirely, but I might be mistaken.
As for the sigil, I don’t have the slightest idea, sorry.
Don’t sound fair to me, I shouldn’t have to fear for my life when using a ranged ability.
…said the guy who cast Feedback. The irony xD
(I get the point, I just happened to find the phrasing amusing ^^)
Not sure if mentioned before or if this is a new bug introduced 2-3 patches ago.
Illusions/copies will, occasionally, attack non-targeted mobs, be they hostile or yellow. One instance was yesterday in Vexa’s lab they were attacking sharks instead of the kill-bot upon summon through the glass floor hexes. Other times it will happen in the open world with mobs in close proximity (<20m). This can be deadly if your are in a very close fight.
Clones summoned by Deceptive Evasion always behaved like that. They attack the closest elligible target, not your selected target. Dunno if it is that you are witnessing, just saying.
Anyone else seeing a checker board when their clones shatter? cuz i sure am
This bug has already been mentionned, and confirmed by ANet
Quaggan happy. Quaggan has guild merit now, foo!
With the recent change to GS1, the piercing shot as massive, massive AoE against objects. In Urban battle fractal, you can aim at the center oil of the main door and hit the two other oil, the ballistae, and the door. So yeah, it feels kinda bugged, and a problem with LoS wouldn’t seem too far off. Like, targetting something in sight, and hitting all object in a 2 miles radius of intended target :P
Wrong ? I rather like it, personally. But it is good you posted the screenshots, it’ll help people make an informed choice
Afaik, all items are permanent buy, not instance-bound.
Let’s see…
Every other class that has an ability to move another character at any time has a LOS obstacle and a 1 person limit.
Just from the top of my head : Fear Me ? Reaper’s Mark ? Updraft ? Magnetic Shield ? Big Ol Bomb ? Well, good thing for mesmer those don’t exist I guess, because none has LoS (afaik) nor 1 target limit.
But not mesmer.. they can pull you through walls, off of buildings, anything that has no ledge, even if you are not even standing anywhere near a ledge, an auto attack would deem target to be out of LOS and this ability would still work against that target.
If you are not standing on a ledge, you won’t fall without LoS. The wall has to be placed in LoS, and if for example you are on a keep wall, the veil would be at ground level. The distance pulled is then too short to pull anything off the ledge but what is already on the limit of said ledge (you can see in your linked video that the ennemy is already one foot out of sure grounding).
Afaik, any AoE instant effect goes through wall.
The use of “Into the Void” has extended range upon the spells also extended range from traits.
Watch the youtube video in the OP link.
No trait extend “Into the Void” no “Temporal Curtain” range. The video you link doesn’t show any range extension, the wall is placed on sight, at range (just on quite a steep incline), and the ennemy is on range of Into the void. Working definitely as intended.
As for extending it by other means, there is a known bug of linear AoE, not specific of mesmer, and anyone using an obvious exploit should get in trouble with ANet. This need a bugfix, not a nerf.
Pretty sure only the ranger longbow should be able to hit that person in the video, and i can 100% bet that the ranger would get the “obstructed” message if he tried.
That’s irrelevant, since the mesmer doesn’t target the ennemy, but a position which is at range, in sight. Into the Void then pull everything in range, without LoS, because AoE don’t check LoS. A ranger could put a Rain of Arrows on the same position and hit the guy.
So, what exactly is your point ? :S
AoE are OP ? Nerf bugs ? I know it’s trendy to hate on mesmer, but at least do it on Portal and Time Warp, like everybody else :P
Yeah, it’s already been mentioned. Since beta 1 :P
Still funny, though, and under some unknown (to me) circumstances you can get this floaty states when KD. You then slide on the ground, cast while waving an arm in the air, like your sleep-casting. Pretty hilarious. You can even jump, still laying down.
Leap finisher (leap and swap both are) in a light combo field (time veil is) give 7s of retaliation. Put Time Veil on you, iLeap, swap, and voilĂ .
I don’t know if this is specific to Mesmers or just stealth in general (since I don’t use thief I’m not sure if this applies to everyone). But the elementalist’s lighting attack (the auto attack with the dagger I think it is – the one with the beam of lighting) seems to stay on you for a good couple of seconds even while in stealth. It doesn’t do a target reset which is very frustrating because if you get hit by it and try to decoy or mass invis that beam will stay on you and follow you around (while doing dmg) and by the time it wears off or whatever, your stealth time is up lol. A bit silly, and it’s been around for a long time now (several months). Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet.
It is the same for all channeled skills. Our Spatial Surge and Confusing Images behave the same. Still a bug, but not specific to a class
It will inflict agony, except, it’ll stay on him like a tenth of a second. Not enough to tick.
Check the announcement for 26 Feb under the Balance, Bug-Fixing, Polish heading.
“Changed the way monsters react to players using stealth.”
The announcement was about monsters not resetting while you stealth, not about them totally ignoring stealth. Might have been a bug with the update.
And this is why you find that in the bug thread
Yes it works, but it’s probably not intended.
Also, call target on the real mesmer when you found it. Clone creation doesn’t drop target (though teleport/invisibility do), so it help sorting the visual clutter.
You can still get the blade skin with transmutation stones, if I am not mistaken. Anyone can confirm ?
There is a big hint for the reflected/stored projectiles to use your stats in that a reflected/echoed scepter Ether Clone will create a clone of you. Not an allied clone of the ennemy caster, but a clone of you. From my understanding, the initial projectile is destroyed and you shoot an identical projectile, with your own parameters.
Another hint to this is that projectiles from max range should run out before coming back. And they don’t, showing they are at least partially reseted.
I’d assume it’s the iLeap stuff. Blade Training is working with iLeap now, but Illusionists Celerity is not.
Are you sure ? Just tested it in the mist, I get 9s CD with iCelerity, and 12s (so no effect) with blade training.
In PvE, might be, but in sPvP it comes in handy.
Edit : nevermind, it doesn’t work. Dunno how I managed to make myself believe it does, I can’t reproduce my own observations…
Edited my first post accordingly.
(edited by Elidath.5679)
That, and as it is a manipulation (like blink) it profit from a different CD reduction than Null Field. For some builds, it allows for more frequent condition cleanse.
Another fractals that benefit from it is urban battle. Ascalonians like to get their 25 stacks of might, which you can steal and share with the aprty. Other fun place : boss of HotW path 1. If you don’t mess too much with the totems, you can give tremendous protection, regeneration and retaliation to the party (got 30s of protection one time).
iLeap isn’t a stun, merely a cripple (well, not even anymore) followed by an imobilize. So any condition cleanse will allow you to walk out of blurred frenzy range. The mesmer is rooted while doing it, like the warrior HB, so he’ll just hack & slice air while you get your CD back
Tested it as proposed (steady weapon, no trait), it works with clones.
Edit : in fact, it doesn’t. My test sample was just too small
(edited by Elidath.5679)
I’m a relatively new mesmer…
I don’t know if this has been mentioned, or if maybe I’m doing something wrong, but Deceptive Evasion seems to be very inconsistent on land. Half the time or even more, my dodges just don’t make a clone at all. Under water it’s much more consistent…I get a clone every time.
It can be pretty frustrating…is it me or a bug with the game?
Just remember that you have to be in combat for the clone-on-evade effect to activate.
ANother thing to watch out is that clones created this way aggro the closest thing, not the targetted ennemy. So sometimes they aggro the rabbit at your feet, one-shot it, and die immediately. Fewer critters in waters makes this happen less often there.
Dunno about underwater, but for terrestrial, it works perfectly for me since the patch (as it did before).
Try to catch some sniper shots in Caudecus Manor. Those nasty little ones can go beyond 10k damaged when sent back, way more than they do to you. Might be due to level scaling, I think the echoed projectile use your stats instead of the shooter’s one. That would explain why boss’ missiles aren’t that much when used by you.
Excuse me ? avoidance through clones? You must have a different GW2 than me because when I use clones, the mobs just run straight through to me.
In some rare cases the do attack the clone.
When downed mesmers now even more can lay still and wait to die (just like Necro’s) coz the mobs just keeps on hitting you, the teleport is insufficient to give any advantage, if they now even look less at your invisibility, well I’m getting totally disappointed in the mesmer
In beta, the mobs indeed saw through our clones. But since release, they aggro clones just fine. Not always, mind you, but we aggro rarely enough to be nigh unkillable in PvE as stated.
But yeah, now when downed, we’ll probably die. Like almost every class out there, so it hurts, but it isn’t necessarily undeserved.
But anchor is fixed already. No reflects.
Just for the sake of clarity : no more reflect/confusion, but still bypass CC immunity. Was in january patch IIRC (more than a month in any case).
Couldn’t make it this time. Did you finally get Grenth ?
You aren’t going to see anything remotely similar to a Druid. We have the Norn who can change form, they aren’t going to add a profession that mimics a racial ability. I can however see how a Dervish or Ritualist could use weapon mechanics other than a weapon swap, (Dervishes with stances of some sort and Ritualists with some sort of communing/spirit channeling kind of bar).
Rangers are kinda druids already, too.
Would like to see a charr explain how he became a dervish (aka a servant of the gods) xD
also it would be nice if you was able to reflect moamorph(unsure if possible), and then echo(if possible(unsure)) it again after, and then make your moamorph
I doubt you can reflect it, since ANet stance on Elite is that they can’t be reflected (Dagger Storm was adjusted for that). As for the capture, you’ll need to try to catch it while invincible, and tell us the results, as that’s the only case I didn’t try (silly me). Disclaimer : no other case worked.
Siege can be blocked, but that’s it. No reflect, no capture. They are projectiles, but follow their own rules. They don’t trigger retaliation either.
Casting Echo after absorbing a friendly projectile will apply the projectile’s effect on yourself. As with absorbing enemy projectiles, the initial projectile still applies its effect on you; essentially giving you a second helping of its effect.
Perhaps this has been discovered already (in which case I feel stupid for not realising and making such a big deal about it), but… well, I know I’ll be seriously considering adding Mimic to my builds.
Already mentionned in the post about which skilled ared underused
About the effect of echoed bouncing projectiles : behaviour depend of the projectile and of Illusionnary Elasticity.
- Siren’s call w/o IE (3 targets) grant you a boon and that’s it. With IE (4 targets), it gives a boon then strike the foe. Given you capture at the second strike, without IE it should do the same as with IE, and with IE it should hit one more target.
- WoC w/ and w/o IE (2 and 3 targets) : gives you a boon, no projectile fired.
- Mirror Blade : can be caught, but do nothing, with or w/o IE.
- Magic Bullet, with mimicer and shooter having IE : you “lose” one bounce. You catch the stun, you inflict daze, blind and confusion. You catch confusion : you get nothing.
Other cool facts :
- mimic reload while echo is active. You can fire echo and catch another missile immediately if you waited long enough.
- echo doesn’t seem to have a timer, or a very long one. I kept a projectile more than 30 minutes for the test, fired alright.
- echo isn’t split between underwater and on land. A projectile can’t be fired outside of it’s natural environment, but you can still get the side effects. You can catch a WoC and get a boon from it underwater. A Siren’s Call will give you the boon too, but even with IE it won’t fire anything.
- echo display a 1200 range, but for boucing projectiles, you need to be slightly under bouncing range to get the shot, so more like 400 in most cases.
- mimicing a bouncing projetcile prevent the original one from bouncing any further. Catch a magic bullet as first target (with stability, obviously), and no one will get dazed or blinded. Exception : Mirror Blade. Because Mirror blade is just weird.
- you can mimic reflected projectiles, and reflect echoed projectiles. Seems obvious, but mesmers knows what “unexpected behaviour” means :P
- echoed projectile get it’s own critical roll (verified) and critical bonuses (to be tested further). You can catch a standard killshot and make it a critical one. If you survived, that is. Try it on snipers in Caudecus Manor, you can do more than 10k on trash mob
- you can catch projectiles while under stability (necessary to catch stunning or KDing missiles), and you can catch at least friendly boucing projectiles while invulnerable.
- for targetted projectiles, merely getting in the way won’t do. You have to be the target to catch the missile. Can’t stress enough the importance of having the aggro for an efficient use of mimic.
Now, more tests can be done :
- Effects of all boucing projectiles of the game, to consolidate the behaviour. Is it really on a projectile basis, or can a trend be determined ?
- Can we catch an ennemy missile while invincible ? If yes, can we catch and echo Moa Morph ? (for maximum trolling capability)
- While catching ennemy mesmer bouncing projectiles, is the opponent having IE relevant ?
- Are the modifiers from traits conserved by mimic ? Does an opening strike from a ranger keep the vulnerability when echoed ? Does an ennemy Siren’s Call with IE strikes back the ennemy even when you don’t have IE ?
- “A new case for you, officer.”
- “What happened ?”
- “A murder. An olympic sprinter was just killed in cold blood.”
- “Premeditation ?”
- “No, litteraly cold. He was slapped on the face until he grew cold and die.”
- “Weapon ?”
- “Yeah. This monster of a killer took his time, he did it all with… a spoon.”
- “Must have take quite some time. Why did the victim didn’t escape ?”
- “Couldn’t. According to eye witnesses, the agressor was a cripple. Sportmanship forbid the victim to flee, wouldn’t be correct to emphasize the handicap of the agressor.”
- “Yeah, makes total sense. So, let me recap : a top notch runner in full health got spooned to death by a cripple.”
- “Yup, that’s basically it. Did let a dying message with his blood, though. ‘Nerf cripple’”.
- “That’s quite an enigmatic statement.”
- “Yes it is, sir. Yes it is.”
Well, transfer was never meant to be free. They decided to make it so after launch to equalize a bit server population, and communicated about it. Then they communicated about the transfer stopping being free. Then you showed up.
Sorry, but not ANet fault here, man.
And yes, you do good dmg, but someone with the ascended gear will outdamage a eqLets say i just geared my warrior with full prec pow crit% gear. And now someone wants me to play a condition dmg tanky build. Well i have to do dailies for 20 days and 1 monthly and 20 lvl 10 fractal runs just so i can swap the gear.
You will be outdamaged by what ? A tenth of a percent ? A whole percent ? Will it makes someone complete dungeons notably faster or more easily ? Not convinced, here…
I even run in Orr armorless, sometimes, for kitten and jiggles. I can’t see a mere +6 stats doing anything worthy of farming for.
