Well, to be honest, I am surprised it stayed this way this long.
-20%CD to so much things as a minor adept trait is sick. We might need buff elsewhere, but this particular nerf isn’t underserved. Unlike the blinding beffudlement nerf, it totally makes sense.

1) Time Warp : target limit of 5, so you probably don’t get the buff because other players do.

2) Invisibility visual bug : never seen (ha ha) this problem before. Any idea on how to trigger it consistently ?

3) Deceptive Evasion targetting : as you guessed, already mentionned. A lot :P

It is the same effect happening when you flip a coin 10 times and get only tails. It is statistically normal (albeit not common), but people expect 5 tails/5 heads from any sample, because the odds are 50/50. Statistics don’t work like that.

I guess the sword clone not cleaving is an oversight of the sword #1 chain update. Good catch, hard to notice in the fray.

For Mimic, I’m all for a tooltip correction, it indeed is misleading.

For Decoy, it isn’t triggered by portal only. Blink put Decoy in CD all the same, and I think Veil does too. I noticed this effect on multiple skills (putting Decoy on CD), but I (stupidly) didn’t take notes at the time :/
For those motivated to test, reproduction is easy : makes sure Decoy isn’t sloted ; use a skill ; put Decoy on skillbar without replacing the reloading skill.

I still have 4 coffer/holo, so it is not a proof of any change in the game. It is at best a clue, and a flimsy one at that.
There might be an unintentional decrease, but stating it as a fact is plain disinformation.

Let me reitterate, RNG would work like this in every mmo if it were truly as simple as Random chance. Computers cannot yet perform truly random algorithms as any computer technologist worth his weight in water will tell you it’s just not possible yet.

You might want to check your facts on this one. You know, some real computer technologist might pass here
In short : an isolated algorithm cannot be trully random. But a whole system can, by using external sources. And it is as easy as it can get (check your core temperature, and voila). So yes, the drop of the GW2 system can be totally random.

You went on to explain how random could only be pseudo-random (which is wrong but whatever). Which has exactly zero influence on drop since pseudo random is random enough for humans, in an environment with so many variables and inputs, and pseudo-random algorithms do have perfectly acceptable repartition.
Then you continue on saying since some people had bad luck since november only as a proof it couldn’t be anything but bugged/nerfed RNG. But oh, wait, it’s even earlier than that. And if you ever heard of placebo (or nocebo here) effect, you should know it is by no way a proof : someone accuse of stealth nerf, then everyone and his dog not having it’s ultimate XXX mega drop think it is because of a stealth nerf, not because of RNG.
My my main argument is that ANet has no reason to nerf coffer drop, they could tweak ticket drop only. Then I explain the “testimonies” of nerf are perfectly acceptable observations in a sane RNG environment. It indeed is old (sad it has to be repeated), but you in no way proved me wrong. If you have the proofs, please produce them, it would help the devs a lot I think.

Doesn’t matter your opinion when there’s evidence that things have gone wrong with both loot and salvages in the past, it could be happening again.

Again, I return this argument to you : there was way more instance of people suspecting an inexistent nerf in the past than there was stealth nerfs. No more reason to believe it out of the blue now than before.

TL;DR : can there be a bug or a nerf in drops ? It can. Is there ? No reason to think so. Don’t forget you aren’t the only one rolling the dice.

I’m not sure they can make the difference between this kind of thing and a macro more nefarious, and they obviously can’t just take your word for it (sadly liars do exist ). So if I were you, I wouldn’t try it.

More generally, accepting exception on security and cheatbusting topics doesn’t make for a good policy. Too much on the line.

I think their point is shatter do GC damage without the downside, not that shatter are pure GC (in fact, that would be counterproductive to their argument).

Maybe there would be good argument to be made for a nerf, but they sure aren’t made here.

Dunno about 1 and2. 4 seems like intended behaviour, but I might be wrong.

3 is indeed intended behaviour. The first part, where you take a hit and copy it, used to be the only effect of the skill. It was then deemed too weak, and they added a block/reflect time after this primary effect, but didn’t touch the first part.
Makes for an interesting tradeoff, if you ask me : shorter CD than Feedback ; bock melee ; reflect not positionnal (ennemy can’t exit the area and you can flee while maintaining the effect) – but in the other hand : it’s a channel ; last less time ; you still take a hit (than can interrupt your channel) ; isn’t a combo field ; can’t cover a friend. Up to you to determine if it’s worth it, but imho doesn’t need fix, it already has its roles.

But a ninja change to drop rates would make sense, since the coffers drop tickets and NCsoft is all about making money. They might wanna boost the lottery boxes sales.

1) all but ticket drop from coffer hold no gem value ;
2) ticket from coffer are really rare, so reducing rate of tickets per coffer would be undetectable ;
3) reducing the very high drop rate from coffer would be immediatly called for and displease customers ;
Hence, from a mercantile point of view, reducing coffer drop rate wouldn’t make sense. A reduction in ticket drop rate would.

People still being displeased because they can’t understand RNG is sadly another effect, on which they hold no control (from the predicate that ANet want to use RNG, that is).

You know, it is way easier for some people to believe there is a conspiracy to keep them away from free stuff than to think that RNG is * gasp* random!
If anyone experience their predicament, it is definite proof (because it is well known a random experiment can’t get the same result twice), and if someone contradict he is with the conspiracy. Strokes of bad luck don’t exist, people, only communist aliens from another dimension stealing your sweet sweet candies.

Like after each and every patch, someone “detected” a stealth nerf on X’s drop. Nothing to see here, people. By the magic of RNG, even if they are right (and more often than not they aren’t) nobody but ANet will be able to confirm.

wait… I’ll forget the rude nature of your response for a second but let us just clarify something.

I wasn’t being rude, or at least didn’t intend to, so sorry if you took it this way.
Just that you speak in name of “the community”, which I am part of, and I don’t agree. If you don’t want to be called on it, never ever begin a post with “most people want…” or “everyone think…”, even with words like “correct me if I’m wrong”. It will irk a lot of people 100% of the time, because in fact you don’t read mind, you don’t have stats on the community (remember the forums are just the tip of the community’s iceberg), nothing but your own feeling about the thing (and that’s totally alright!). So state it as is instead of using all of the user base to push your feedback forward.
Personnal feedback is a good thing, why disguising it ?

please if you don’t mind answer a few of the following questions:

1. Content although diffrent and “enjoyable” as stated by yourself has however been very simular from one event to the other?

2. If you’re not part of “the community” how can I be speaking about you, if i’m refering to the general mood of “the community?”

1. The content was different and enjoyable. I don’t see what more could be said. Only that I remember the Lunatic Inquisition, the Dragon Ball, the Molten Facility, and I can’t put together enough common points to see, well, your point :P (sorry for the bad joke)

I have to admit I am not “the community”, neither do I know what it think as a whole. Please, have the courtesy to do the same, and do not speak for me. You have all the right in the world to your opinion, and none at all on mine. I enjoyed the living story up to now, and I know of a lot of other people that do.
So “the general mood of most people” is the mood of “some people” in unknown quantity.

That being said, I agree on the particular point of tickets: RNG for free access is ok, but for paid access I wouldn’t mourn if it was to go away.

People paid for gems and got gems (what they paid for) and free, unexpected extra.
Some other people paid for CE (which is game + some billed extra), got exactly what they paid for, and nothing else.
That’s his gripe, I think. Even more if (like I suspect) it was preorder. What means more “I want to support this game, I’m a loyal customer” than paying for something beforehand, without garanty of quality ?

Now, I myself don’t think much of this, but I understand some can be, let’s say, not optimaly happy.

I think it is because all cause of skill failing but block affect AT, so when listing, blocking is included, out of habit. Plus, it wasn’t always unblockable (it became so a few patch in after release, iirc).

Yep, totally stealable with Thievery.
The main trick is while they set it up, they are evading. So you have to wait for them to get back to their normal stance before stealing. Otherwise, Thievery will go on CD without effect.

I use this skill a lot, and I have to say it is very stable in it’s behaviour. It isn’t explicit on why it fail, but there always is a reason (mainly those listed bu Durzlla and Nretep).

Is Mind Stab really 1200 range?

Spatial surge, since it as a bit of AoE, can hit a little farther than listed max range. Son even if you hit with it, you may not be able to cast Mind Stab at the exact same location. As for mirror blade hitting, I have no idea ^^’

Well, Entangle doesn’t stun, so Mantra of Concentration isn’t supposed to help against it.
The electrified net does stun, but it also immobilize, so MoC should clear you from stun but leave you immobilized. Isn’t that what you are experiencing ?

From what I gathered, the defender works a bit like the soothing mist of the elementalist. It is a passive, autorefreshing boost, affecting avery ally in the area. It is not a boon, cannot be interrupted nor stripped/stealed.
Think of it as an elementalist switching to water, then staying in it, when getting in melee range.

The important part here being it isn’t active until the phantasm get in this mele range, which can puzzle people.

Under misleading tooltips :

  • Phantasmal defender’s defense is a skill applied continuously by the phantasm when he get in melee range. It is not a passive effect always up, there is a gap between spawn and effect.
  • Veil is an ethereal combo field, not a light one.

Under good to know :

  • Swap (sword #2 followup) is a stun break (the tooltip state so, but it is often overlooked).
  • Confusing Cry won’t trigger without illusion, like Shattered Strength.
  • Into the Void (focus #4 followup) destroy the curtain effect, but not the combo field. You can still get retaliation/condition cleanse from it.
  • If the phantasmal defender has retaliation, it will trigger when he takes damage from protecting allies, not just from being directly hit.
  • Decoy isn’t stealth. It has exactly the same effect, but is another status, and as such doesn’t stack with stealth sources.
  • “When they are killed” clone traits do also trigger on target death (it auto kills the clones).

As said before, teleport definitely break stun. It has been on my bar since beta, and never did it fail me. Except in the case I mentionned : while still being moved by a CC, which is not a Blink-specific behaviour.

Can you provide the circumstances where it did fail for you (cause of stun, traits, weapon used…) ? There might be a bug under some specific conditions I never encountered, and knowing the trigger would surely help a lot for a bug fix.

Well, not-damaging pulls (like Into the Void) are blocked too, so it seems Aegis block hostile interactions, not just attacks. That being said, I don’t know if it is intended.
Since it has been this way this beta, I would like to say “intended”, but then I look at all the mesmer bugs, here since the age of (GW2) times…

Illusionnary Elasticity didn’t change. Standard rebound behaviour did. But I get what you mean
Decoy not stealthing is generally due to in-flight projectiles : any damage you inflict while in stealth will destealth. So a projectile fired before decoy will destealth you if it lands after decoy. Standard stealth behaviour, but I agree it is counterintuitive and doesn’t seem like expected behaviour.

All in all, those might be bugs, but not mesmer specific bugs.

Well, no. I use it all the time, it indeed does break stun.
What it doesn’t, however, is recover from control while you are moving (pulled/launched/etc), you have to wait for the character to lay still on the ground if you don’t want to waste the CD. But every stun break is the same regarding that, so more of a stunbreak bug (or feature) than a blink or mesmer bug.

Into the Void needs balancing.

Funny, that’s exactly what I would answer to a thief saying “you can just dodge backstab if you see the thief going in stealth”.
If it can be delayed, it becomes a mind game between the user and the defender. In case of a bad guess with backstab, someone’s gonna loose a kidney or two. In case of ItV, someone’s gonna… be pulled without any damage? OP as hell! Joke aside, the punishment for a bad guess is on the really low end compared to other skill with guess to be had.
Can’t say ItV is perfectly balanced or not, but there is obviously more important balance matters than that. It is at most “powerful”, not OP.

Or it is a bug not limited to mesmer. Seeing it miss on a static target is quite puzzling, don’t you think ?
Plus, othert whirling attacks are controllable. A warrior decide the direction, a ranger the position. Mesmer can’t control, and as so can’t limit miss factor. Yet they do at most meh damage.

Its reliability. Sometime it hit 3 times. Sometime 2. Sometime 1. For a skill that can cripple and bleed on hit, it make quite a lot of difference. And 4k for a spike skill on a full zerker gear is… kinda meh. And you are apparently in the upper numbers, other report (with similar setup) around 2k damages. So yeah, it is pitiful.

Plus the rebound thing, that makes GS#2 quite funny (instead of useful).

“Other than that it’s fine” → so fix that. It means it need a fix. Being “good except for what is bad” mean some things are bad, you know :P

@Mighty Helm : Temporal Curtain is set so if you already have swiftness, it won’t reapply. It is to prevent ludicrous swiftness uptime by going in and out of the curtain repetedly. As for why it doesn’t behave like Mark of Swiftness (guardian staff #3, increase actual duration by a small amount instead of full amount), I have no answer, but it still don’t qualify as a bug.
And I never seen (nor heard) it not work when you don’t have swiftness already (unlike Mark of Swiftness).

As for invisibility, it is not due to ranger, they just are easier to reproduce this. In fact,; all action started before you go in stealth still complete, so long activation skills (like Long Range Shot) or canalisation skills (like Rapid Shot) still hit you. You can do the very same with our GS #1. It is very likely it is unintended behaviour, but it is not specific to mesmer.

And, last, do not write everything in caps, spamming the thread. You’ll get infracted by moderators, and it’ll help no one
If you think ANet will not read this not-so-maintained thread and you are ready to post a lot about it, I think they’ll be glad to see you open and maintain a new one (I would )

I tried the cleric amulet in sPvP. While the healing gain is notable, the resistance to conditions is even lower and got me killed more often than not.
Wouldn’t recommand, unless you know exactly what you are doing. The soldier’s amulet is still more permissive.

Reflection and tagging kills

Reflections do mark yourself as the new projectile owner. That’s why you create a clone of yourself when reflecting Ether Clone, or teleport yourself when reflecting Dark Path. So it would be very strange for it not to tag. It is more probably just a case of “not being lucky with loot”.
Did you get XP ? It’s the best way to determine if you tagged (well, except for getting a rally, but most people try to avoid getting downed :P ).

It is usually Dark Path that trigger this effect. It is a projectile skill that teleport the caster to the target on hit. Since you became the new owner of the projectile on reflect, it teleports you on the initial caster.

This behaviour is totally in line with general reflect behaviour, so it is most certainly intended.

For running with a MF user since a long time, I can attest he gets consistently better loot. You just have to remember that exotics are, like, really rare, and 400% of a small percentage is still small, so you shouldn’t expect one on every odd mob. You still get more green and blue than yellow and orange. But where you would get white and grey without MF, you’ll get green and blue with it. And in the long run, it makes a lot of money worth, selling 2s greens instead of dark claws at 2c.

To sum it up : MF does make exo drop only slightier since they are rare and MF is percentage-based, so observation bias is common. Try the other drops, and you see it definitely works.

I’ts not an excuse, it’s an explanation. Why is there no fix ? Not because they want to, but more probably because they can’t. I never seen a developper wanting a bug to stay.

Its a nerf, its always been a nerf. Its just easier to tell all the QQer’s its a bug that they will get to eventually. With the hopes you all will go away.

ANet never disguised nerfs before nor after, why should they here ? When they nerf, they nerf, and say it outright. People complain, and that’s it.

Mimic is all kinds of messed up; failing to block the first hit yet once it kicks in it blocks all attacks, even melee attacks – but only if a projectile initiates it.

AFAIK, it is the intended behaviour.
In beta, you had only the “get hit by projectile then send it back later” part. It was crappy, so they added a blocK/reflect after the catch. They didn’t change the description so it’s misleading, but the skill in itself isn’t that bad. Unlike iLeap, which is truly broken
