Thief because L2p.
Everyone will roll a pr0 Th1ef, if most have not done so already.
Same topics pop off because WvW is shallow.
You send them a refund.
Zerg of the Mist
Inb4 L2P.
Lol at comparing stealth to stability.
Stealth by itself is not over powered (see Mesmer). It is the combination of many things that makes a Thief such an annoying package.
- Initiative: on-demand damage/utility; more forgiving than a standard cool down if you ask me
- Multiple access/refreshment of stealth
- Fast attack animation/cast time
Why are you talking about 1v1 duels? Like people have stated many times (included OP), Thieves can almost disregard defence, and indirectly force other professions to gear/trait defensively. Why? Because of the aforementioned convenience tied with stealth. OP is saying that Thieves have free reign in small skirmishes in the open field. They have a get-out-of-jail card that is arguably more valuable than any boons.
(See how spewing the same kitten works wonder? Last word is important yo)

a mesmer cant spam stealth. their longest stealth is mass invisibility and thats an elite. i got more respect for mesmers than these d/p thieves.
Your definition of “spam” may vary.
A Mesmer still got ~30s of stealth every minute if he trait it.
Considering a fight is often over quicker than that, then yes I would call it spamming.
30 sec of stealth? lol. what are you talking about? a mesmer can only have 6 sec of stealth once they traited for prismatic undertanding and thats from 5 sec to 6 sec. they can only get that by using Mass Invisibility which is an elite skill and has a 90 sec cd. a thief can stealth for 14 sec using shadow refuge that has a 60 sec cd.
Dude, iMage is such a great threat! That Phantasm deals MASSIVE DAMAGE
Just cast it and watch the AI wreck everything! XD
Amirite?
The convenience to engage-disengage + spammability + everything else tied up with stealth (condition removal, hp regen, initiative regen, speed increase, backstab damage) all together adds up to a broken mechanic.
The effort-reward scale is tilted and off-balance.
This is how you fight Thieves after they cast blinding powder: http://youtu.be/k0YDuSLXcX8?t=3m17s
What an impeccable gameplay design.
Step 1: shout “L2P” at the top of your lungs
Step 2: shut your ears
Step 3: Heart seeker
Cool. Bigger punching bags.

Victim complex is stronk.
You will never convince thieves who want it easy. Some of us thieves appreciate a challenge and don’t rely on perma stealth. I suggest that those of you who think perma stealth and stealthing while in combat is badly broken continue to send respectful but firm and frequent feedback to anet. When other games come out and threaten this one, they will have no choice but to take action.
I can’t wait because thieves will never get other things fixed while we are the most op class in wvw.
To whom do I send a respectful feedback? Got a link?
At least we don’t have a semi-worthless pet…

Mesmers require a ramp-up time. When the stars align, they are tough opponents in duels.
L2P = perma stealth on the forums.
Migrated to *B*andwa*G*on
In a game called Dota 2, there is a hero that has the ability to generate clones by using melee auto attacks. Of course, this effect only procs x% of the time.
What if Mesmers can use a dagger (single target, no cleave) that can create clones using the 1 skill?
Why build around stealth in the first place? It’s a lazy and flawed design. Just because it is seemingly the only build, doesn’t mean it is automatically fair and balanced.
Yes, by all means tweak other Thief traits/skills, but I bet most would still go for the path of least resistance and play a stealth mode. Therefore, stealth needs to be looked at amongst other potential builds.
How is it being abused? Stealth is what the thief is built around. It is their best source of damage, damage mitigation, healing, condition removal, etc.
This whole thread would be like if thieves were complaining that rangers used pets. Instead of calling for nerfs to other classes why don’t you try to get yours buffed so it is viable for something other than roaming. Maybe ask to get the broken pet ai fixed, or at least give you better control over them. Hell GW1 gave you better pet control.
I thought steal is Thief’s class mechanic.
Let’s steer the discussion back on track.
How does OP (or anyone else) propose to change stealth-spam? How would you change other aspects of Thieves? You must address both points because Thieves will just QQ and derail the topic again with, “zomg, stealth is all we have!”
Warrior = self-sufficient
Guardian = shines with others present (but still pretty good alone)
Warriors are almost nerf-proof because
1. They are the love-child of ANET
2. So many weapons to choose from.
Rick Berry has a career free throw percentage of 89%, without having a fundamental shooting form (aka basic skill).

OP and les Thieves should duel or kiss already.
Wow, much back-stab damage.
Thought you were “out of here”.
1-2-2-2
There is no discussion because every time someone speaks of changing stealth, certain people assume it will be all nerf but no buff. The victim card will be dealt, and blah blah blah blah
(edited by Eloquence.5207)
This one teaches us how to kill someone by avoiding damage, good one too!
The amount of ignorance in this thread is to much high and makes me sick! I’m outta here.
I don’t think that kitten have any experience with thief at all. He keeps on saying the same kitten all over again, while using the information that other people reply to him to improve his whining. I’m out of here too, thread full of kittens.
^True Thieves; backing out of confrontation. Watch them come out of hiding later to “+1” a pro-thief wall ’o text on nothing.
How many gems did you buy?
“Thieves ONLY have stealth
Solution: do nothing"
Alrighty then.
ANET made the game to cater “everyone”. Thief happens to be that profession for pr0z who can’t stand losing.
PS: Everyone else is just plebs who need to “l2p”.
They should have merged Thief and Ranger into a single class. Call it the 1337 R0gue. One may focus on pets, acrobatics, or lolstealth.
Two things are vital for roamers:
1. Mobility
2. Cheese*
*Stealth and/or AIDS
A Mesmer can be ignored.
“The simple fixes to perma-stealth are:
1. Stealth traps
2. L2P
Now if you will excuse me, please die to my 3x heart seeker"
It’s hammer time!
Well well, isn’t this a glorious circle-jerk?
I complain because I didn’t roll a thief sooner, so I can play the victim card, and brush off any feedback by touting “L2P”.
There is Mind Stab… and it sucks.
The ‘W’ in GW2 and WvW stands for Warrior.
It’s hard not to laugh when a Thieve manages to get itself killed.
- HerpsADerPs, 1ofthe12DerPs
When burning, invis players will be lit up. You can’t hide from justice.
It always gets a laugh out of me when people do this after big groups kill me. Then I keep an eye out for the people who did it, and kill them if I can catch them 1v1. /shrug and let them bleed out of down state and go on my way.
No no, you gotta invite them to party and give them a piece of your mind!
Conditions are only powerful against you when you don’t bother to invest in mitigating them. Invest in toughness, vitality and/or healing gear to mitigate direct damage, invest with your traits and skills to mitigate condition damage. Ignore either at your own peril.
I will take “What is Cool Down for $400, Alex”
I call it the BG special.
Clearly, this is a L2P issue.
- HerpsADerPs, Oneofthe12DerPs
First answer this: “are you a warrior”?
You need to l2p.
- HerpsADerps, OneOfThe12DerPs
You fight them in exactly the same way you fight a perma-stealth thief.
except thief can’t kill you while being stealth, he leaves stealth upon attack…mesmer clones on other hand keep attacking you while mesmer can keep stealth
That’s fair because it’s not like the clones will spike 1/4 to 1/2 of your HP pool in 1 hit.
You fight them in exactly the same way you fight a perma-stealth thief.
Except mesmers can deal tons of damage while hiding in stealth. Thieves have to reveal themselves, but a mesmer can have the clones up dealing damage the whole time they are hiding.
Right… Clones with massive damage.
Warriors and Thieves don’t need it.
On my glass mesmer I have time to aim and blink away every time before they get their backstab off.
Yes and once the thief fails his BS, we all know that he’s dead, right?
Yes, after a failed backstab, Thieves stab themselves like an honorable samurai.
- HerpsADerps 1ofthe12DeRps
If u play a Thief then this game is skill based,if u play warrior then its not
Because stealthing and running away is so hard.
Obviously you’re not one of the 12DerPs. You do not understand the intricacy of L2P.
