So you want to make it so Staff Elementalists (and other AoE abusing builds) can take down entire zergs by themselves and become massively overpowered? Because that’s probably what would happen, causing ANet to pull a massive AoE nerf across the board that would effect PvE as well and make AoE useless. I SAY NAY!
Do you die now if your in an Ele’s AoE ? Don’t stand in the AoE, it really is that simple.
If you refuse to move out of the AoE, you deserve to die.
I agree with the OP. Everyone is so afraid that they will be killed by a small group, your zerg has AoE’s as well, use them, there is no reason zergs should die to a small group ever.
Any zerg will have the capability of a small group and then some. The small group wiping a zerg is a rediculous argument, it just goes to show that even zerglings think they are terrible at the game.

The baddies taking the keep could have sent 3-5 people around the side to stack aoe on the defenders. They instead, want to be babied w/ the 5 person cap.
I am okay with the zerging. On T4 and below (hint: get out of the T1/2 zergfests), servers can’t maintain 30+ people on more than one map. If you don’t like the zerg, go to a different map. I think it’s foolish to introduce mechanics which allow a group of 5 to take out a group of 15. Numbers are always a viable tactic. All I see is a bunch of people who don’t like the meta for WvW and want the game mechanics changed to suit their purposes.

You’re right, a lot of skilled players think that the current meta of the clump ball bushhog 11111111 spam NOMNOMNOM is pretty lame.
+1, but with a drop off in damage. Also, fix the rally system while you’re at it!
It’s obvious why anyone would argue for the cap.. It’s cause they’re bad or lazy.
I guess that is the result of playing the best “tag class” (thief), being a commander and leading blobs for 24/7. Or am i mistaken? O.o Coz i don’t how else you got to r30 this fast haha!

most my wxp isnt from killing zergs.
it all comes from flipping keeps/towers as fast as possible with as little resistance as possible. it is only possible because of the tier my server is in and as soon as we move up/if we move up, this will no longer be possible.also tagging isnt the best option. zerg busting the same group over and over again will reward u very little.
you need to rotate which servers zerg u want to hit and space it out so that when u do hit them you will be rewarded with 40+ wxp

Last night we ran our normal 5 man. We had several nice, successful bombs (and fraps) wiping many zerglings, baddies and grinders. Thanks to you all!
Culling fix certainly helps roaming, but my experience so far is that the karma train only got larger (but worse, too).

God that is awful. The progression is fastest for zergers, the abilities are fully meant for zerging activities, and because I don’t do that stuff, I’m going to permanently have some nub title above my head while the worst zergers are going to get the epic high rank titles. And to top it off, because you get more points for people who die less and points aren’t split up, I’m going to have huge zergs chasing me around for the massive point bonus.

People have been asking for DAOC2 for years now…and every time a Developer is like “We can do that” and then they just fail so hard at it..
How hard is it to just copy the bloody game already..

Really has no place in this format especially since attrition is a viable tactic for fighting over what the format is about (towers, keeps, etc), would make spawn camping even worse, and doesn’t do anything to punish a zerg or reward defending…. which is what I was talking about.
Half of the posts in here seem to have confused a big team oriented format with hot joins.
One of the WvW problems is that attrition is a viable tactic.
We drive followers into the zerg and then pull out while they die. At least ask before you hug my nuts.
lol I bet you are just full of fun and sunshine to play with. If you have enough people to push a zerg and pull out you are most likely leading a small zerg, what’s 1 or 2 more? I solo roam and I never give anyone a hard time for following me when I flip camps. If someone follow you it means you know they ‘admire’ you. No need to be a jerk about it.
It’s actually a blast!
I must say, it’s funny to watch the rally bait fly in and get pulverized. Until A-Net does something to fix the rally system, anyone not in our group/don’t know is unfortunately a liability.

Actually, with this “zerg reinforcement patch” coming, I’ve re-upped my subscription to DAoC. Am I gonna QQ and say I’ll NEVER play GW2 again? No….. that’s a childish attitude. But this does dampen my drive for WvW.
Still enjoy tPvP though, so I’ll be doing that on occasion for sure.

This type of progression is dumb and meaningless. Plus its tied to an “every kid gets a trophy” exp system.
This is an unstructured format and as such there’s little to use as a ranking gauge aside from time spent playing; you cannot, for example, gauge win/loss ratio. The best they can do is add some sort of experience growth for holding and defending a tower as well as staking claim to it. While the former is easy to reward with a properly scaled defense event, rewarding “claiming” is harder because who do you reward?

Sounds like patch day will be PvE content, a “fix to culling” and the rest of the WvW stuff will be put on the backburner. Again. I hope I’m wrong..

I think if they were smart about it (want to make more money) they would make progression acct bound. More alts would mean more gems purchased to fund gear, levels and legendary materials.
It’s sooo borrrriinnngggggg! Plus the xfer didn’t help much, either. I’ll prob play tonight though.
The idea is that the swords don’t pop up when you’re running around ganking other groups. Previously when you engaged, the zerg quickly flys in because of the tiny maps and orange swords.
Anyone have some feedback?
Has the change/removal of the swords on the map made an impactful effect for small group play?

A new map. No objectives, just rolling golf course like hills and a sparse amount of structure. A main place for everyone to have some good fights, “emain” if you will.
You know what you could do? Resub that one game and do this, in Emain. THE REAL DEAL!

Had an incident this past week where someone had a character that was almost dead when I went in to help, basically told me to kitten off and leave the area because I hit their mob once. They were doing their dodge daily.
Four cases where I observed something similar happening to other players who ran in to help someone who had a veteran and 1-2 extra mobs on them.
Some folks are polite. Others aren’t.
Realize this is behavioral and therefore “outside” of ANet’s concerns, even though the potential consequences of this daily addition may lead to negatively impacting the much-vaunted “community-oriented” value.
It’s pretty obvious what is occuring when someone is soloing an (almost now widely extinct) Moa. (straightface). Other mobs, like veterans, not so much. Particularly combined with the veteran daily.
I’m curious, how many of you are going to be more cautious now? How many won’t let it stop them, and how many will take the opportunity to “grief”?
And how many of you will be polite when asking others to “back off”?
Personally I’d follow these people around tagging their mobs and getting their aggro.

Once servers balance over time stability goes out the window.. For roaming groups to be efficient these things need to happen:
Culling fixed
Aoe limit increased
Downed state mechanics altered
Distribution of players on mapOnce/if these things happen, you’ll see roaming groups out and about.
It sounds good on paper, but a “5v5” server is going to get stale pretty quick; especially when groups start flopping, which is inevitable. Plus once the roamers log for the night the action will be real bad.

The fail in this thread is amazing. Quite disappointed in any mesmer who is defending confusion. Our class is amazing at so many other builds. Why defend something so blatantly unbalanced?

The general population of MMO’s have continued to disappoint me since DAOC. Frankly I blame WoW, lack of education, and parents not beating their children.
