Don’t get rid of the hand glow. The point of the Revenant is to be a knight who uses magic. If you don’t want to see glowing effects or magic, play a warrior.

a Knight who uses Magic is the Guardian? would you like that their aegis is always visible too? i doubt it. And for the sake of it, it would make a lot more sense for the guardian having blue firy hands then its for the revenant, who uses the mist

also it seems more people are annoyed by the visuals (heralds ground effect and hand glows) compared to people who ask for more of it, i wonder why……not realy actually

don’t try and make it seem like there are more by combining the ones who dislike the floor circle with the hand glow haters.

I’m not a fan of the circle (the blue ring could me made more translucent and fade better around the edges), but LOVE the hands.

there are TWO of you who actively dislike the hands, with about 10 in this thread who DO like it

as for out of combat effects, mesmers get retalliation and aegis out of combat when using signet of inspiration (which we have to because we don’t get a speed boost trait until chronomancer)

maybe there are only 2 who talks about this concerns, since most people currently are more concerned with revenant gameplay wise and dont care that much for the visuals right now if they are not really that off. And the herald visual falls in the same row the hand glow falls. it has no use for the player of the revenant even as fluff. its sololy for spvp so your enemies know what you are doing. which is ok, for spvp. in WvW you are most likly in a group and the visuals are covered by other players more visuals and in PvE…who cares?

and Mesmer is a bad example, you can any time you want turn off the signet by simple swapping the skill for something else. the hand glows stay…always…no matter what..no choice.

If you want to compare it to any one it would be the Aegis of the guardian, which only shows in battle stance, the ranger pet, which can be stowed away outside of battle and the elementalist hand glow which, also only shows in battle stance.

Personaly i would be absolute silent if they had atleast one legend left without a handglow as an option, like ventari in bwe2. But now there is no Option, no choice at all

implying guardian doesn’t always have that crappy aegis shield, all the time, messing up real shields.
Revenant’s effect is 100% better and cool.
Stop asking to get rid of it, people love it.

You stated your opinion, and you are greatly outnumbered. Deal with it.

They atleast don’t have it out of combat/in idle stance

and that the revenant effect is better is your opinion, and people will hate it still, deal with it :P

Since glints skills are aktual signets…..why not a similar visual to all signet using classes?

Do i hear a uproar? Yeah, since the signets can be seen by anyone who targets you. Annoying pvp visuals……

I agree with Ebax. Altough the effect got a better visual then in beta weekend 2 it’s stil annoying to have it all the time. In battle/with drawn weapon thats fine, that when an Rev realy summons the powers of the legends to use them. Out of fight the legends are more like a litte voice in your head.

actually i can’t find any mentioning on the blog post about that Revenants can only Channel the 5 we get ingame. They just use them as examples since they are the ones they use for the gameplay. They say Rytlock will spread the teaching to become a Revenant but there is no single word he will only teach them those 5 or any of them actualy.
And as i understand, and its also written there “Which legends your revenant prefers to channel may depend quite a bit on who they are as a person…
And as a Roleplayer you always go beyond the gameplay boundaries the Devs give us. If i want to be a Revenant/Ritualist that summons the grandfather of his best friend. This would make absolute sense to me and wouldn’t break the lore at all.

you are actively trying to reject lore straight from the devs for your own vision of what your character should do! you are EXACTLY like those who try to god-mod.

1, i don’t reject the lore as the infos the Devs gave us are very general, 2. of course I decide what my character should do, since i roleplay a role that is not the pact commander, but something else. and if you compare this to god-mod RPers then i think you should be the one that should be ignored to play with

Honestly, if anyone says to me he would talk with Shiro it would be the same as in real live someone says he talks to Jesus/Che Guavera/whoever. Sounds insane? because it is.

Even if the Mists allows communing with many at once, it’s still the power level that plays a huge role. as a serious roleplayer you never ever touch anything powerful or even well known Characters. Like saying you are Buddy with Destinies Edge, or you was the one who shoot down Zhaitan, being a descendant of Durmand and so on.

The Shiro, Malyx, Glint, Summons feels more for an Important Character like Rytlock or the pact commander. non important Revenants would maybe summon not so strongt/important person, like Reyna or Talon Silverwing

And again, what has roleplay to do with hand glow? If you’re roleplaying as a Revenant then you have the hand-glow, you can’t help it.

Revenants have hand glow by design. “There were never a request to add the handglow in the first place to any legend” because they had it from the beginning. The one missing on Ventari was a bug.

Rytlock the first Revenant introduced and also no of the inital artwork or sceenshots had any handglow at all, so you can’t say they were desgined with this. It looks more it was later added for you know PVP

And from your comment i cant see you as a real roleplayer if you don’t know of the impacts of something like colored burning hands all the time.

yeah, totaly gonna make sense every Revenant you met will channel this IMPORTANT and POWERFUL person of the HISTORY.
In Roleplay you are usual not the Chosen one who is Commanderof the Pact and deals with all these powerful and important characters

Here we have some polish changes for the profession. It was brought up on the forum as a suggestion to have a custom dodge FX and that got added as a direct result.

  • Added an effect to dodging.
  • Added a hand glow when invoking legendary centaur stance.

And whats about the out of combat/idle stance hand glow?
Please say you shut it of, or else this class will become uselss for me as an Roleplayer

And see, now I’ve got a problem with that. As a non-roleplayer, I don’t want to lose my hand glows.

If you’re wanting to roleplay as a non-class person, then why not just play a class that doesn’t have such effects?

Being a roleplayer has really nothing to do with that request. It simply has no sense.
I’m a roleplayer too byt I have no problem with hand glow.

So that’s just his personal taste on the matter. Being a roleplayer or a non-roleplayer has nothing to do with hand glow. And at least I’ve never seen any Elementalist roleplayer making that kind of request.

We should probably complain about aegis shield overlapping on real shields…

Elementalist don’t have an out of Combat glow, and their in fight glow is also very small, and all i request is the same treatment. Also the Aegis Problem is also already many times requested, mostly from Guardian players.

Same reason as the dodge roll for thieves, it serves no purpose other than looking cool, and some people like this sort of unique flavor effects, which is why they suggested them in the first place.

It wasn’t a request, but a bug report.
Ventari was supposed to have hand glow, like every other legend.

And if you’re talking about the dodge effect it wasn’t a request, again, but an idea, a suggestion, and the dev liked it and used it.
There have been like 300 suggestion on this subforum, but only one got used. Devs don’t take orders from us.

Why is this thread still being discussed? This from Roy pretty much closed the topic:

The problem is that they are balanced around having 1 skill bar and not 2 for the right half of your bar. They are also not made with energy in mind and would need to be changed to work with revenant, but would muddy the purity of each legends skill set playstyle. I thought I had mentioned it before on one of the initial streams, but racial skills won’t be usable on revenant.

because we dont agree with it not being able to work, especially since we dont have any other customizable utilities. Revenant is getting totally screwed in the utility department

no racials(understandable, but just feel like laziness not to include them in a way)

like 8 LESS utilites than EVERY other class, sure we can use 6 in a fight, but other classes can use way more skills in a fight than us.

Agree with it or not, Roy sounded pretty final in that statement.

Also, Revenants are THE only class that can use 6 utilties in a fight. ALL other classes can only use 3. I’m not sure where you’re getting your idea from because it’s flat out false.

Finally, I disagree with you and anyone else that says there’s no customization to skills. You have 5 sets of utilties you can use.

Engineer and Elemenatlist have more weapon skills caused by their utilities (kits, summoned weapons , attunments) , which is, to be honest really powerful (looking at ice bow). sure we can use 2 heal and elite skills. but locked in utiliets we can’t change at all and less overall skills we can’t mix and match. not to be able to mix and match is fair as we can have two legends in fight, yet we are still stuck with less overall skills

how about including a “not invoking any legend” -Legend….that can use racial skills/mistfire wolf but don’t has any more skills.

from a Lore point i guess also a Revenant want some alone time and not always summon the power of some legend. Also it would give the option of not glowing hands legend…my personal rant….

because Roleplayers are also players who like/dislike classes for reasons.
Also weapons are bound to classes, want rifle with a long coat, Engineer the only choice. Sword and Magecoat? well go Mesmer and so on.

Also the glow effect is only reasonable for PvP/WvW, but honestly its redundant for people who are colorblind. And in the case of the revenant, if he uses any skill at all the others know the whole utility bar, and swapping legend gives a huge icon of the next legend over your head, so i don’t see why the Revenant needs such a HUGE BRIGHT glow on the hands. mostly compared to elementalist who’s glow is barley visible AND not active out of combat.

I noticed this as well for the BWE2.

On a somewhat related note. Is it possible to not have our legend auras present when out of combat? The way it is now it seems the auras are always present (Which is why Ventari stood out XD).

Ugh, I’d rather seem them on all the time. Let’s you quickly know ahead of time what Legend the Revy is in if facing him before combat. Also, the Legend is supposed to be manifested with you at all times, not just out of combat. The arm glows sort of shows that. Plus, it’s a really cool effect.

I Voting for not seeing it out of Combat too! Or at all in PvE Content and make the Glow only for WvW/PvP were it matters?

I don’t understand why though. Don’t those effects define the class that your roleplaying with? Or, are you roleplaying as something besides what’s in the GW universe class? IE, you’re roleplaying as Wolverine from the Marvel Universe.

The Class a Roleplayer chooses is only the visualbasis for the Role he wants to play(and that he likes the mechanics when he is not rping but doing regular stuff). Roleplayer are not not roleplaying as Guardian or Ranger or Mesmer, but as a Seraph Soldier or a Farmer or a wandering Merchant.
Also NPCs dont have these visuals ether. Logan has no Aegis by default, Rytlock as Revenant has no glowing hands.

Roy you read this thread, and so far you did a greate job with the Revenant. But please don’t forget those who want to look good for screens and the Roleplayers

P.S.
Rangers actually have the same visual problem as the Elementalist/Guardian/Revenant. Their anoying visual is the Pet. Yet they can disable it if you are out of combat.

Something on using Heal/Elite skill since Rev can use them more freuqently then most classes/chain two right after one another

maybe

+4 using a healing skills gives 5 seconds of lifestealing (icd 10 sec)

+6 using a elite skill does lets you turn to Mist for 3 seconds (basically invulnurabilty – icd 20 sec)

I’m not sure. But i think it was somewhere statet that Ash has no actual Homeland or that its far away and very small compared to the other legions.

The Blood legion homeland will for sure be different from what we saw in GW1. Afterall Kralkatorrik rose there so his corruption will be there.

I think the charr have the most advanced guns. Humans are more towards flintlock.
I can’t see Norn with Gun technology, if any they just get human/charr guns.
The different third gun tech would be asuran magitech kind of gun

To be honest, i hate the hand glow. I understand why they did it so other can see in what legend you are currently.like the visual on elementalist hands. But its, compared to the Elementalist toooo big and also out of fight. Which i realy hate! People(most Roleplayer like me) hate alltime visuals that can’t be turned off at all ( looking at you guardian aegis).

In fight the visual is okay, out of fight, even wizh drwan weapons, remove the visuals! (Elementalist, Guardian and Revenant)

Glint overall thoughts

testing a kinda tanky condi with glint/malyx.

using mace+ glint most of the time, the skills, are amazing.

Malyx comes in if i have to face lots of conditions Facet of Nature+Pain Absorbtion + demonic defiance helps here a lot!

not so sure about the shield yet. its 4 is nice. and 5 is using correctly realy strong. made at first the mistake to use it against those big pushback attacks of some mobs. pushbacks are heavy cc for breakbars, so ofcourse it was useless. but on non push back big strikes it was great.

Condi Cleansing outside of Mallyx and Jalis

don’t know, but i think its wanted that not every build has equal access to all.

i’m currently testing a glint/malyx Condi build. and i can get perma(!) immune to conditions if i want. Facet of Nature + Pain Absorption + Demonic Defiance.
also transfering Conditions from allies to me and giving them resistance.

If build this way Conditions are useless against the Revenant, so i can see why they limit its condi cleanse skills on other legends to zero

I think Glint wouly be better for an condi build then jalis.

As Malyx you want condis on you. Glint can use the incoming damage to heal more.

Glint has an Condi attack and a fast vuln stacker. Facet of Nature also increases resistsnce duration . And i think this will outweight one of the specs you lose for the elite spec.

Simple answer. Yes.

Boons(buffs), most of them have fix values, only Regeneration and Retaliation scale with level if my memory works correct.
Conditions(debufs) who do damage, only the damage part scales with level, Poison always reduces healing by 33%

I think after the last(3rd) beta weekend they should unlock the Revenant base class for the pre purchasers so they can level them up. also this would be an extended “beta” for the Revenant and how he plays while leveling, and how he performs on different levels in different situation/dungeons,wvw, pvp etc.

It’s interesting to see how vigilant some are againt unrestricitng some things for people who have proofed not to be Goldsellers/Trolls by achieving lvl 70/80.
Or that only the start zones should have no map chat restriction.

As a Veteran who also put some actual real money and no gold into the gemstore (15+char slots, armor,outfit,weapon skins,eternal tools etc) i don’t understand why it should be so punishing for actual new players. (For goldsellers its clear)

Honestly I’d rather they introduce a new ‘map’ chat equivalent specifically for them. That way if you want to hear the new players ‘map’ chat, you can enable it, or leave it disabled.

That’s a good idea and could tie in with the pact commander mastery line, that is specific for people who want help new players.

Or implanting a wooden board next to the first waypoint , where new ppl can submit their questions and the pact commanders can answer them and send they response via mail

The Board sound good at first, buuuut it could also be used to spam to all commanders. Instead an FAQ board would be ok

In fact you can tp to any other starter race zone, thats nice… And, I really understand the map problem, but theres people in the start zones that offers themselves to help new players, so they can whisper them

Oh, you are right, there is indeed every first Waypoint of the start maps available, i just overlooked them (may be true for new players also?)

Problem with Whispers is, what if 20 players at once whisper you? can you manage to respond to them in person, not mixing them up? or do you just reply to the map chat?

They do not need map chat. They can still use say and talk to people in the area

the problem is, most people in there area are also new players who don’t know anything.
and the /say area is not that big
Many Vets only enter those zones for Shadow Behemoth/Fire Elemental/Jungle Worm/Svanir Shaman and Dungeons.
