The problem does not get bigger. You can buy most things that require charged quartz

You can not buy Celestial, Wanderers or Commanders Insignias

Agreed, removed the time gate.

Celestial is a dead stat like most stats since HoT came out.

Except charged quartz is used in some HoT stats as well. As well as some crafted precursors. Charged quartz is the non-ascended ascended mat the devs fall back on when they want to add a time-gate without creating a whole new time-gated material.

The Problem here is, it is not like ascended materials, which are at least tradeable.
And if they include more and more stuff that needs charged Quartz, the problem only gets bigger and bigger

The question isn’t: is it bad that celestial stats are affected by both gating and binding? (Yes, of course it’s frustrating.) The question is: how important is it to change? How often does anyone craft it? How many people use it? How much better will their experience be if ANet changes things? And then compare that to how much effort it takes to do it well.

The thing is, Charged Quartz is not only used for celestial Sets. It’s used for 5 stat combinations (Celestial, Sinister, Trailblazer, Wanderer and Commander) and also for 6 consumables (Bountiful Sharpening Stones, Bountiful Tuning Crystals, Bountiful Maintenance Oil, Furious Sharpening Stones, Furious Tuning Crystals, Furious Maintenance Oil).
By now it’s more like a regular crafting Material then something special for only 1 Thing

Because it is mostly used in crafting exotic/ascended but entirely optional items. The very top tier items should not be attainable without effort which means time. It’s also used indirectly as a time gate for Guild Halls as they shouldn’t be able to be built overnight simply with vast piles of gold.

From an economy standpoint, right now with the time, the supply of raw quartz crystals on the market have been falling and thus prices have been going up. If removed, it would skyrocket the price of quartz as supply on the TP dwindles.

I see your point, and agree that ascended should take effort to get. But why should the stat combination? Most of the stats you get through quartz are not that much in demand, but if quartz would be more easy accessible people could find niches for it.

For the economics part. With opening the charged quartz, there would be a higher demand for regular quartz, which would mean people would farm more of it. In itself it will balance out. maybe the price rises, yes but this falls back to your effort argument. Farming Gold is also an effort.

Simple Question.

Should Charged Quartz still be time gated?

back when it was introduced it made sense to balance the new celestial stat.
But do we really see that many celestial builds running around?

But this day charged Quartz is not only used for one Stat combination anymore.
Sinister, Trailblazer, Wanderer and Commander all use something that was crafted with Charged Quartz

Since the Day of Charged Quartz, ascended Materials were also introduced, although those are also time gated, they are at least tradeable.

TL,DR: Should Charged Quartz no longer be time gated, tradable or stay as it is?
And a strawpoll for it http://www.strawpoll.me/10991278

Macros

  1. You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.

sorry, but this is unacceptable for the click horror on chests. Either introduce in the next patch/update a “Use10/25/50/100/150/200/all” option for the rightclick dropdown or remove this paragrapgh for chests until it’s fixed in a good way, that doesn’t require the player to burn through their, sometimes very expensive, mouse

No love for my /Rifle/Dredge idea?

Molachev was the de facto leader of the Dredge during their time of Rebellion against the stonesummit dwarves. Since then the Dredge replaced the Dwarves in the Shiverpeak mountains and being a main antagonist for the Norn for supremacy over the Mountains.

The Utility skills you can see on my post on the first page, based on Shouts and Revolution. The Weapon Skills could mimic dredge technology. Sound based attacks. So the Rifle don’t shoots bullets but sonic waves. Main Condition on the Weapon AA would be Confusion+bleeding(bleeding ears), with fire and Torment on other skills

While interesting as it is there may require to look on to the Legend himself such as if the legend himself actually used those abilities during his life.

Currently part of the Legends is that the weapons are representing the legends him or herself such as the Shield representing Glint’s Wings, Swords representing Shiro’s swords, and Mace/Axe represents Mallyx’s hands and the Utility Skills are abilities the Legend may have or did use during their life.

Another issue with sonic weapon rifle is if the weapon existed back then and was it used by Molachev. The Sonic weapons were not invented during GW1 timeframe and we are uncertain if they were made during Molachev’s life to be used by him in any form.

(don’t mean to sound rude when I typed this since this is just my opinion of the issues with this legend)

fair points.

but its also a nice way for Anet to dig deeper with dredge lore, and explain what exactly happend after the revolution, what become of Molachev and so on. If we ever get to Primordius underground lair i can see this legend be fitting the setting

btw, i doubt we will see another human as legend any time soon. Thats why i don’t support the Khilbron idea since he is actually a human who become the Lich.

[Suggestion] Accountwide Recipes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Enrif.7359

Enrif.7359

So i’m sure it was brought up a thousend times. But here now once more

Dear Team at ArenaNet,
could you please make all crafting recipes, but discoveries, be accountwide unlocked once one character learns them?

It wouldn’t harm the economy, as most players have every discipline only on one character maxed out and not on several. so it makes no sense for them to learn the same recipe on multiple character. Even learning the same discipline multiple times makes no sense as the only think it would be useful for, crafting ascended materials, is accountwide gated and not per character/discipline.

I bring this up for some recipe problems brought into game with HoT.
There are some recipes that list the wrong discipline. Would they be accountwide unlocked, no problem here.
Also we got recipes unlocked after a story step. But if we do it only with a character we don’t have a intend to craft with, like players who switched for the expansion to a revenant but not learning a discipline on it, they are ether forced a second time through the story with their crafting alts or learning a discipline on that character. So again, it would benefit the player.

Not mentioning if some one want to gather some old recipes but don’t always want to switch forth and back between alts to see if the recipe the vendor has is what i can still learn, or is it wasted time and money to buy them

Its a small QoL change that would, i think, make many happy.

While leveling my Rev traditional i picked up the exotic gear in one of the orr temples, i think it had cleric stat(lots of heal power)

I had absolute no problems to enter the jungle with this set. Jalis whirling hammers also heal alot with clerics making you very sustainable. Using later shield+glint acomplinished quite good

Now working on celestial gear with mace+shield/Hammer Glint/Jalis. I love the mace. Its more enjoyable then the sword which is very boring

Dredge as inspiration for Revenant

in Revenant

Posted by: Enrif.7359

Enrif.7359

Well currently completing the core map with my rev,i run several times into Dredge and some of the stuff they use reminded me of the Revenant/Herald. Most notably the Dredge that buff who have a shield. Also those Dredge have a Mace that is used as a Ranged to create shovkwaves which looks similar to the Mace3.

So it thought, looking at the Dredge could there be inspiration for some changes or addition?

Most notable would be changes to the mace.
Change the Autoattack to use the shockwave animation the dredge use and making it a midrange weapon. And the application of Torment would now make even more sense.
Mace 2 would stay the same, and mace 3 would cut the leap out and only be a multi blast finisher shockwave.

Next thing we can see from the dredge is their use of the staff, and again they have a shockwave like attack for it. And i think it looks fitting for the Revenant. Maybe as an update to Staff 2?

Last inspiration for now. Dredge shockwave gunners. This would be interesting for a future elite who could use a Rifle with a Dredge Legend. Maybe Molachev? He was the leader of the Dredge slaves kept in Sorrow’s Furnace by the Stone Summit about 250 years ago.

Game aint just about you bro.

Its a unique part of being a revenant that needs to stay. Just like the element attunement of eles or the constant aegis of the guardian, or the shatter effects of the mesmers clones and weapons. Its a unique part of the class that should remain. If the minimal hand glows are affecting your style this choice you should check your priorities.

Everything you stated is only in combat(stance). the Revenant Glow is permanent. If it would be the same like the Ele Attunements only showing while in combat/ with drawn weapon. i think most would be happy with that

Only explanation apart from coolness would be to give enemies a hint of what legend do you have active.
Do enemies see any boon when you are in Shiro for example? Do they see the big pics above your head when invoking a legend (awesome btw)? Hear the sound? (I know you hear Elementalists – Feel the fires of Balthazar, etc., but didn’t really notice revenant).

Yes other player see in which stance you are on your buffbar, also the big image they see. not sure about the voice over

in Revenant

Enrif.7359

currently leveling with staff/hammer to get a better feeling for rev then straight buffing to 80 (also don’t have tomes)

Staff is indeed not a good support weapon currently, the little healing by auto attack is in random placed orbs

my choice of change would be to make auto attack like guardian mace auto attack in making a pbaoe heal that should scale better with healing power.

the second skill is an odd ball, as it provides a interrupt after striking during a enemy skill, the moment where the interrupt would be actually needed…better the interrupt, on the first skill and on the second skill something else. maybe a heal/protection/regen/condiclean for succesfully interrupting

4 is good but needs a tweak to the CD

The ground icon can be shut off with not using a facet. there is an option. thats the huge difference

It’s not really an option though since the point with glint is to run with one or two facets active, like swiftness for roaming or fury/prot/might as support. If you have glint you’ll spend the majority of your time with the ground icon graphic.

While true, what some people in this thread are requesting is OoC changes to the hand glow. When you’re standing in Lion’s Arch, for example, you can turn off Glint’s Facets— but you can’t with the hands. And that’s the main issue that was brought up by the OP.

I thought so. I know I’ve mostly been a proponent for keeping them on all the time, but I’d rather have brighter, combat only hand glow than the lesser, always on version we got this time around.

I’d be happy if we got a brighter combat glow but a dimmer non-combat glow, just as long as the glow was still there OoC. (if anything, that would improve Rev’s flavor: you are always channeling, but in combat you access more power)

Yeah, I like that! I’m not sure why the fiery glow was toned down so much. Roy, please make it so.

The permanent glow effect on Rev feels horribly out of place in comparison to other professions. So it’s not just personal preference but also a question of adhering to coherent design principles.

It is a personal preference since the vast majority of the posters here doesn’t agree with you.

Vast? The “vast” majority of posters didn’t read, at all, and are arguing something contrary to the OP. When some people are trying to conciliatory by having the effect only display during combat it’s clear they didn’t read because that is the entirety of the OP.

The majority of the posters like the effect, but only a handful of them are adamant that it has to be permanent, as it currently is. It’s hardly even any number at all, though, when you consider this is still the first page.

If i’m correct there are currently only 2 who want it alltime permanent, and atleast 3 who don’t want it out of combat. the rest likes it, but doesn’t mind if its off while out of combat.
