only calling of the things i tried out that far
-Staff
feels overall very good. BUT Skill 2 is still not any good. Its not very rewarding for the timing you need to get to the second skill.
-Mainhand Sword
The AA is a little strange. polishing its animation would help a lot. Skill 2 i don’t feel any feedback if its used successfully, again an animation thing. Skill 3, looks cool
-Offhand Axe
quite good, sometimes feeling that skill 5 doesn’t pull enemies in
-Shiro
Movement Skills and Unrelenting assault are all-around really useful. Great for moving around, reviving other players very fast or quickening your AA. Besides that not that much used in fights for myself
-Jalis
Heal absolutely fine. love the road, nearly perma stab helps alot with some of the new mobs. The rotating hammers should hit a little bit harder, but i’m fine. the taunt should also give yourself retaliation. The Elite…..in theory really strong, 50% dmg reduction to your group without a CD. I can really see why it has that high casting time. yet until it is in effect the reduction maybe not needed anymore. I think it should have a much shorter casting time but a CD to balance it.
-Traits
……lacking good synergy across different lines.
-Glowing Hands
please in the name of god make them only in fight! they are so bright, i really dislike it!
the point about torment and mace is a really good one.
Its not very useful in its current incarnation.
Torment works best if the enemy has to move. We have a Skill on Jalis that forces an enemy to move towards you, which can exploit the torment condition. but for that the enemy has to be away from you.
The Shield of the Glint Spec could give push backs which would work with torment but lowering you dps as Mace is still melee. If Mace would be midrange it would work perfectly fine together. But isn’t that just an Sceptre?
Actually i’d like to replace torment for another Condition. We already get burning and poison on the condition set and i don’t see bleed fitting a mace. So how about confusion? Smacking on someones head causing confusion makes sense to me.
@ Genesis: The idea of summoned spirits sparked an idea. Like with Ventari’s tablet, how all the utilities depend on the presence of the tablet, could the utilities all be based on summoning the spirit of Glint? If that were the case, it would explain the uniform artwork.
Going back to Glint herself, who was tied to a crystal motif, could the circles on the artwork signify crystals? Another possibility, that just occurred to me is the ward spell from GW1, which created circle AoE. Could they be wards? If so, that would create another supportive build for the revenant.
Also, as a speculative aside: Glint = Legendary Seer Stance
Seer are a Race in the GW2 Universe
try it with
Legendary Dragon Stance
Legendary Prophet Stance
(edited by Enrif.7359)
Revenants do hold the Staff in a different way. Well its the actual 2handed stance of Greatsword/Hammer. Which is a good stance for Staff fighting as it allows to make a strike. holding the Staff/Polearm out like a Spear isn’t proper for Staff/Polearm fighting.
Also Revenants aren’t Martial Artist, so holding it in a Asian Martial Arts way isn’t fitting, maybe for the thief.

looks like Glint will be a Damage soaker tank, in the sense that they will absorb damage through healing, like pre-nerfed Heal Signet Warriors.
The Signets suggest to me, that something is changing about the Energy system when using Elite Spec.
The Elite Spec will be focused on Energy consumption in traits some how.
Also since its a Off Hand weapon, gives this more reason to believe this is melee oriented in your face kind of play style.
You bring up another good point, it was stated early that any class that gets and Off Hand weapon would be getting additional skills to offset the classes that get two handers. For example, Mesmers are getting an additional F5, time altering skill added to the class mechanic rather than the mechanic being completely changed. Perhaps this is the case with Revenants, which F2 becomes a 3rd Legend swap with Glint, giving you the ability to channel 3 Legends.
i higly doubt they will allow for 3 legends, if not i don’t see a reason to play a non-elite spec revenant
Maybe Mainhand Axe/ Offhand Mace as a ranged condi setup? Would allow mixing with MH Mace/ OH Axe for different setups.
Axe about cuting rifts which may deal a random conditions and Mace for knockbacks, cripple and torment to stay at range
Worse, ArenaNet is very obviously suggesting that players should play in very specific combinations of weapons & legend & traits – they are pushing for double swords to be combined with the Shiro legend and the Shiro traits, for mace and axe to be combined with the Mallyx legend and the Mallyx traits, and so on.
That’s what ArenaNet’s balance philosophy consists of now. Less options, less versatility, in a very restrict system that boils down to players having basically four build options.
The Meta does that anyway. Also i’m fully planning on playing Staff, with Jalis as Legend and Shiro traits. The rest i have to think, but as you see, you don’t have to use sword, shiro, devastation etc together. if you don’t want to
But i agree with the utlities being a littl e to restricitv, and one or two more base weapons wouldn’t be bad
um….speculation time
Elite Specialisation Name: Ritualist
Stance: Legendary Dragon Glint
Skills: Rituals (reverse Signets)
Instead of an ongoing passive effect that is lost after you use the active skill, you activate a skill for a immediate effect and get a passive once its on cooldown. After Cooldown runs out you loose the passive effect. Would allow to switch to glint, activate a ritual or two, then swap back to another legend but now with the passive ritual effect.
Example: Elite Ritual – Invoking Prophecy
Aktivating this skill converts incoming damage to healing to you and nearby allies. While on cooldown you get every 5seconds retaliation
maybe this skill have longer casttimes…
just an idea
(edited by Enrif.7359)
Do you have a back story if so what is it?
yes i have, but i wont spoil it for those who will interact with him later on
What race are you going with?
Male Human
What weapons are really tickling your fancy?
Staff! Also looking forward to the shield and ether sword/mace that works good with it
What is your favourite legend?
Jalis. Shiro maybe getting sit number 2 if he is better then Glint
How are you going to make your Revenant look?
gloves and boots Human T3, shoulder human T1, Chest and legs Honor of the Waves, helmet Priory
Is it now going to be your main or just an alt?
Not decided yet
What build are you running? What armor you use?
I struggled on different LS2 parts with a meta warrior pve build. Took to much damage. But once i swapped for a cleric shoutbow it was easy. It wasnt the fastest way, but it was a easy
Then maybe dagger off hand for 3 more dual wield skills?
i think more of dual wielding.
no new weapon, but dual wield skills for each possible setup of mainhand and offhand (15 new skills!) similar to thief dual wield skill, utilityskill maybe tricks or venom

my guess, Warrior is the one Profession who does not get any new weapon, as they already have lots of options.
I read people complain that dual-wielding for Warrior is not that great anymore (mostly on axe/axe)
maybe the specialization will deal about dual-weapon skills? similar to how thief dual-wield skills are a combination of weapon 1 and 2. with the current weapons this would be 15 dual wield skills. (sword/sword, sword/axe, sword/mace, sword/shield, sword/warhorn, axe/sword, axe/axe, axe/mace, axe/shield, axe/warhorn, mace/sword, mace/axe, mace/mace, mace/shield, mace/warhorn)
Points proven wrong on every game and still not giving up.
Its just not true what you all started.
wrong i’m still right on WoW.
2 of 3 classes i was wrong for LotRO, i admit that.
Everqeust, right.
Well I decided to look at your last example of EQ2
This one was more foreign to me, and also more complicated.
F2P players get 2 character slots, though you can upgrade to silver for a one time fee of $5 to get an additional 2 character slots as well as various other perks.
They have added 16 expansions over the games very long lifetime…
Unfortunately for GW2 12 of those expansions are free, one was broken up into gem store items and was hard to put a value on and the last 3 are only $15-30 each. They sell character slots for $10 just like GW2, meaning you can get the expansion + character slot for a total of $25-$40. which is $20-35 cheaper than a GW2 expansion + character slot.
So in total we have:
1. WoW… completely wrong, 50 character slots for free, added a character slot of every expansion that put the classes over the per server character limit
2. LOTRO… completely wrong, all class adding expansions included a character slot and were cheaper than GW2 expansions.
3. EQ2… Complicated. Same model as GW2, most expansion were free, paid expansions with purchase of a character slot were on average $30 cheaper than GW2.Would you like to try some different games? I think you might be better off stopping while you are behind…
You are wrong on WoW. They didn’t added a slot for the Death Knight. The Slot was there from the beging of WoW Vanilla.
LotRO- half/half, 2 classes got added with an expansion with characterslot, the other one was sold by its own without slot, or bundles with a slot(for more money)
Everquest i agree, yet it is far older, and went from sub to f2p, so its not in the same ball park, yet its the closest
It does. he said that other games, even with subscription, didn’t give away character slots for new classes and that was a lie.
Also, the character slot is just the equivalent of how much was worth gw2 core game at its lowest buying price.
From what I read he said they didn’t ALWAYS give out slots, which is true even for subs. Again a moot point in comparing.
GW2 holds no value now, comparing its lowest pre-expansion price to post is false. Especially since vanilla GW2 isn’t going to be vanilla, it will be HoT:GW2 since they are incorporating aspects of HoT into it. Not to mention all the events, skins, LS1 that people who bought vanilla got that new players don’t.
Except they won’t change dungeons, and most of the new content is HoT only.
Anyway, he did that WoW and LOTRO didn’t add character slots, when they did, so what he said is false. I could also mention f2p games like Vindictus that also added slots for new characters added.
seems you didn’T read carefully
i stated that WoW- with WotLK didn’t added Slots but it did with MoP. the 2 Expansions that added classes. The one with LotRO was me being wrong about the Warden, Rune-kepper, i admit that. still the Beorninger does need an slot to be extra paid.
WoW has 50 character slots, ten per server, raised to eleven with the addition of the monk class. Also, you can create one character per class.
Where do you get your sources?
still, my statement is true, they didn’t added a new slot for the first new class. How many Slots are avaible is irrelevant for this statement. As i could say GW2 allow for 64 Slots.
because it wasn’t needed, since you already had the chance of creating one character per class, and it had also had dual talents and build templates so you could play a single class two ways.
And it is kitten relevant is you only get 5 slots initally. 59 slots are 590 euros in GW2, on WoW you get 50
for free, which means you get the equivalent of what gw2 sells for 450 euros.
Oh, and the possibility of having characters on different servers.nope, not for free, for 15€ a monath. after 3 years = 540€. WoW is in its 10th year now so this means if you played from the very beginning you payed 1800 (36€ per Characerslot)for your 50 Slots + every expansion if you always buyed when they released.
But with that €15,— you don’t have a cashshop, where you can buy armor skins for € 10,— or buy bankslots for € 10,— or buy finishers and other stuff for a great sum of money. Yes as a GW2 you aren’t forced to use real money, you can use ingame gold.
But for the most casual players it will take long time to get something with ingame gold. When you calculate the stuff which people buy in item shop the costs of a sub for a WoW, is WoW cheaper and where you get more stuff to use.
you can buy mounts and pets, and even some cosmetic armor in WoW
true i made a mistake on the LotRO one. Its long ago since i played it, and i could only remember that you can buy the classes by itself without any Slots to it. Yet the Beorninger Class doesent seem to add a Slot, only if you buy it in a Bundle.
For the WoW example its true what i said, with the inclusion of the Death Knight they didn’t added slots. Also for the different added Race they didn’t. Only once the 11the class came.
And if you spent 10€ a month on the gamestore the last three years, you would have acces to more then enough characterslots(36). that you chosed to not do so, is not ANet’s fault. its their buisness model to live from the gemstore purchases.
Yet my statement stays, are there so many Expanson that added classes and slots at the same time? If so, you can name some for sure.
Again?
They didn’t add slots because it would be overabundant. it’s like if GW2 came out with nine characters slots for 8 professions. All the expansions you said didn’t have character slots, actually had character slots. If you say that Death Knight didn’t come out with a character slot you are lying by omission since the game already had one character slot extra that almost no one used since leveling a single class twice in WoW is really, really rare.
Only for races they didn’t add slots because, you know, race is only aesthetics.
And yes, wow is adding aesthetic content now, but guess, what, WoW is now free to play for veteran players since they can purchase their subscription with gold if they want to.
still i didnt lied, i said they didnt added a slot, and thats what they done. that there were already slots for 10 classes doesn’t makes me a liar.

Hi there,
i read some many threads about that pre-purchase and many get upset. Most of them for the so called “missing” Slot for the Revenant Class.
Most of them argue that in other games, if they add a Class with an Expansion they also offer an Character slot….. is that so?
lets see.
WoW – WotLK : added the Death Knight Class, but no Character Slot!
WoW – MoP: added Monk, in its 4th! expansion they created one extra slot. and its a P2P MMO!
LotRO: added 3 Classes (Rune-Keeper, Warden, Beorning), the first two were sold with a slot, the third one not(only if you pay extra for the slot)
EverQuest: Added 2 Classes, no Slots
GuildWars: Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall are not Expansions! They are stand alone games. If you add any of them, even the first one without any new classes it adds 2 slots to your game, yet the only true expanions EotN does not add any Slots.
So where are all those Expansions that add slots for new classes? Surly not in F2P games which are so nice and allow you only 2 slots at base if you don’t subscribe or buying more on the store.
And new players don’t get 5 new slots, they get the same 5 slots every veteran has. they may be able to play the revenant instantly, yet they have to leave 4of the core classes untouched if they don’t buy more slots, like the veteran has to to access all classes at once.
(edited by Enrif.7359)
what about Norn Revenants? since Norn are all about their own Legend….can they channel themselves?
on a nother note, i doubt they will use many human legends. so far, of the datamined and revealed legends only 1 is human, the rest are not.
maybe they add a “Racial Hero Legend” that changes depending on Race and utilizes a USEFULL set of racial skills?
Asura – Snaff
Norn – Jora or Asgeir Dragonrender, the man who pulled Jormags tooth!
Human – too many choices!
Charr – Pyre Fierceshot or Kalla Scorchrazor.
Sylvari – Riannoc, the original wielder of Caladbolg
There are already traits like that. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Poison_Master for example.
Actually the biggest problem would be the fact that condition damage does nothing against objects. :/
I think they’re going to keep that on purpose so that Phy damage will still have a huge influence for taking down objects. Or least I hope, because bleeding a fence (while would be funny as hell) is not practical.
yet, beeding a earth elemental is completely practical…
chilling a legendary ice elemental?
crippling an ooze?
blinding an ooze?At the very least most of the objects should not be immuned to being burned.
Well, some Mobs are immune to a Conditions that make no sense.
Some Destroyes are immune to Burning
Dredge are immune to Blind
I guess you use a meta zerker pve build?
Change your setup. With my pve axebowshoutcleric warrior it was all easy. But with pve meta build, it kittend.
maybe 3 or 4 or more? magical floating swords you know….
https://youtu.be/oNqyV-E0hv0?t=22
also, classes with fewer Weapons like the Engineer have more room for new Weapons before chaneging the ones they can currently use.
i doubt they will do this. It will lessen the available choices for future Specs. Best Example, Warrior. They already have access to nearly all Weapons. given the Weapons they can’t use yet, mean they only get at max 9 Specs(MH Dagger, OH Dagger, MH Pistol, OH Pistol, Shortbow, Torch, Focus, Staff, Sceptre)
And a Low Weaponclass like the Engineer would have 17possible Specs (everthing else except Pistol,Rifle and Shield)
Except they go the rout that MH Dagger, OH Dagger and Dual Wield Dagger are 3 different Specs with all Different Weapon skills. This would open a lot more Options….yet again more for those who now have fewer choices
going by the way that in future all 6- 0 skills of the same type (signets, shouts, cantrips, etc) are in the same line to unlock, i guess that each legend will only have acces to one skill type. MAybe malyx somthing like all Corruptions, Jalis all Physical, Shiro all venoms, etc. Jet the indivdual legends are maybe more like a mix of Ele attunemetns and Ranger pets. meaning you have the Legends withotu unlock(like Attunemnets), and can slot which one you have(like the Ranger Pets), yet they only have skills if they unlocked(kind of how weapon skill are only attainable after a specific level)
But i somehow hope they will have a neutral line of skill that can be slotted to any legend. So the Player can atleast use 3 different Skill types at once. Yet Revenants will have double the Skills available other classes have in Combat (6-0 Signet + 6-0 Shouts as example)
Necromancer gets Revenant spirit calling from the mists stuff…..my guess
I predict that there will be a mass exodus of necromancers to the revenant after seeing the changes, based on Anets track record with necromancers.
And now the big thing
What if the necromamcers get a skilltype from revenant? Still unknown. Lot of possibilities!
Btw, i believe the Elemtalist tempest get Stances. My guess.
My take…..
Engineer+Guardian Shout = unnamed Hammer spec(blacksmith?)
Elementalist+Warrior Stance = Tempest
Thief+Engineer Turret =unnamed Rifle spec(saboteur)
Guardian+Ranger Trap = Dragonhunter
Ranger+Thief Venom = Druid
Revenant+Elementalist Glyph = unnamed Revenant spec(Ritualist)
Warrior+Mesmer Mantra = unnamed Warrior spec(Warmonger)
Mesmer+Necromancer Well = Chronomancer
Necromancer+Revenant skill = unnamed Greatsword spec(Reaper)

Dragonhunter is someone who not only hunts Dragons but also knows of dragons and fights its corruption.
Now we have another Game with Demonhunters. Everyone knows what a demonhunter is. Its not simply someone who hunts demons, as many do this. They making it their main goal in live.
So do the Dragonhunter. Its not someone who fights Dragons to stay alive. Hunting Dragons is their zealos goal in life. They are dedicated to it, nearly relentlessy hunting them down. this is the witchhunter connection. Relentless fighting the evil. Not the way they do it.
Also most of the other names that players brought up are plain stupid once it reaches the localization. Seeker was the best of it, yet after translation its some one who looks for something. Makes no sense.
Dragonknight is also bad. A Dragonknight uses the power of dragons and does not fight them.
Tomes as used by the guardian are more similar to summond weapons by the elementalist. But in future use as a kind of kit sounds good.
Elementalist would my first bet with Tome of Water(healing), Tome of Fire/Air/Earth(utility) and Tome of Arcane(Elite)
Necromancer the second bet with Tome of Blood(healing), Tome of Curses/Souls/Death(Utility), and Tome of the Summoner(Elite -summon many minions!!!)
Ofcourse the Guardian. With five tomes for him
certainly, or it wouldnt be mentioned
but i’m concerned about the necro, mentioning using all lifeforce for something new. if this replaces the deathshroud then its Warriors adrenaline in green.
Here’s an image from one recent video I’ve made, just for a more visual input.
Guardian getting a shortbow would bring more variaty in the soldier proffessions, since the warrior already has longbow and rifle. But Braham is Eir’s son, so it might be a Longbow….
Warrior with Pistol please. Would make many Charr happy. /salute Rytlock
some already pointed out that we got lots of summons.
But i like the idea of a specialization that does not attack with its weapon or magic, but with animal/Minions whatever.
Best example, Ranger Warhorn 4. It summons a flock of birds that attacks the enemie.
I could see this work for Ranger(Beastmaster) or Necromancer(minionmaster). A new weapon for the spec, which while you have the weapon equipt you get a permanent Minion, that has no ai, healthpool hitbox, etc, but is simply part of your Character. you could say its only visiual. But instead of attack with the weapon, you command your pet and it makes the attack.
Going on a Karka hunt today. Lets hope we survive
a great community. And even for people who can’t attend for three weeks in a row sometimes.
I hope i can soon jump back into the fray
We finished our first story Arc!
And it smoothly went into our next Adventure.
Heading to the lost ruins of Droknars Forge.
