I do not know the exact skill name off the top of my head, but I have noticed several times recently where I’ve gotten a Warrior downed doing a ton of damage to them, will shortly after get downed myself in a team fight or whatever the case may be. The Warrior who I downed will use his Last Stand skill and I will try to stay alive while downed as long as possible knowing the Warrior will soon die, yet when he does i am not always rallying. This can’t be working as intended… And its getting frustrating when I will kill a Warrior yet not rally from it and just turn around and die soon after because of it.
warriors are able to rally while in vengeance. perhaps he rallied, thus not dying. which would explain why you didnt receive a rally.
no?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
if you solo pve try getting 30 into virtues for the voj proc on 4 instead of 5 and the voj hitting aoe instead of sinlge target.
youll wipe groups of mobs easy with hammer chain

Hey ! look at me !!! i want attention!!! plays flute non stop give me attentionnnn!!!!
it is pretty annoying
firstly, you shouldnt be trying to solo champions at low level. theyre group events.
veterans, sure. but not champions.
secondly the only time you should be dying to groups of enemies if theyre 3+ higher levels than you. even then, with the right build theres way to beat them. if youre running a bad weapon set or you havnt upgraded your gear for the passed 10 levels that could be why.
imo an inexpensive way to help yourself level is to buy power blue gear, and equip each one with a different rune that gives +10 power. (most of which can be bought for about 1s each i think)
the game was not made any harder for low levels as far as i know.
Again, we need this to happen soon, the target system is really compromising the game, how can you pretend this to slide, this will not slide, people knows the terrible target system we have, this is not a good target system for a competitive game.
This game has a lot of incoherences like this, an action game asking you to become CLCIKER to target your enemy, is like asking to clik in a shooter to select your target before you can do damage to them, ridiculous.

A presumably evil wizard lives there so Im not sure about that…
you mean the evil wizard who protects the human village to the north though the use of his elementals?
But this notion isn’t new. It started at launch from people with inferiority complex and now it sort of has a life of it’s own. Why do you people care so much???

Yes. It’s bad enough that they only made a heavy-armor look for each skin. Kinda unfair to the other 6 Professions.
no one cares about other other 6
Stack on me! we’re gonna 50 man portal bomb this veteran ettin! stack stack stack!
Seriously though, all professions should be able to use all weapons.
whats a warrior going to do with a focus? smack people on the head?
or a engineer with a scepter? attach bombs on it and throw it?
or a necro with a greatsword? give it to her flesh fiend to swing around?
or a ranger with a a staff? learn to throw it like a javelin?

Yes this is the third topic I made about this subject.
In the first topic, I appreciate that you responded, Esplen, but you completely missed the point of the thread. Almost as if you didn’t read it…
Still, I thanked you, decided it was my fault for not being concise enough, and remade the thread a second time. To which it received 0 replies.
And now you ask me to stop making threads. Gee, thanks Esplen. It’s not like I’m trying to make this game control better for everyone playing it. Blatant Sarcasm

adding a little skills in at a time is a great idea to keep the new playstyles that are incoming balanced.
its pretty much akin to how league of legends adds in a champion every so often but it comes out fairly balanced because its just one champion at a time every month or so.
from what i understand the skills and traits are going to be released regularly which will allow fresh playstyles on the way.
the point is not everyone uses waypoints. that doesnt mean waypoints arent gold sinks. similar to how not everyone buys orrian boxes.
One person is not even “not everyone”.It’s just one weird person that plays weird. “Not everyone” would mean a statistically significant portion of the playerbase.
and my original point still stands that buying axes, picks, and sickles will drain your karma (furthermore losing karma means losing gold, however small amount)over time, where the term “gold sink” ( and no, not karma sink – gold sink. it CAN can be applied to that) which was my first point that buying axes, picks, and sickles are gold sinks.
if they weren’t intended to be a gold sink, they would have never made it so you would have to repeatedly buy them.
You don’t have a point there.
Gathering tools will never drain your karma (again, over 99% of the players will never manage to spend these tools fast enough to make a dent in their karma), and buying them doesn’t lose you gold.
you previously said “sure, these are karma sinks” but now youre saying “they will never dent your karma”
you cant even keep your own arguments contradicting them selves and yet you still try to argue with me.
im done with this argument as you cant even understand simple concepts like gold sinks yet you tell me i dont understand them when ive been playing mmos for over 10 years.
Why not just have the ability to combine sigils?
check out my superior sigil of bloodlustenergyearthairagonysmolderinghealingbattle
you can convert it to gold.
use it to buy boxes, salvage your pvp locker, buy consumable tokens and make a bunch of unidentified dyes.
pretty time intensive , but it does make you money.
not buying orrian boxes because you bought something else = loss of gold.
It’s not loss of gold, because the boxes are optional. Not everyone buys them. Gold sinks are not built on optional purchases, they are built on things you will not avoid.
Like I said, you don’t really understand the concept of a gold sink.
waypoints are optional too, i guess that means waypoints arent gold sinks either.
You can’t avoid using waypoints.
You can avoid buying boxes. In fact, almost nobody I know is buying them. I certainly am not buying them.
you can completely avoid using way points if you wanted to. try a different argument please.
Avoiding using waypoints is not a viable way to play this game.
Avoiding buying a single orr box per month is a perfectly viable way to play the game.
See the difference?
how is it not viable? my friend does it just fine. you can get to any part of the world fairly quickly with portals alone.
Your friend must be really enjoying running from Frostgorge to Orr.
The rest of the playerbase doesn’t, I assure you. I don’t even need to have any real statistics to say that over 99% of players don’t do that, and still be spot on about it.
running? you mean, going to the heart of the mists, porting to lions arch. going to gendarren fields and using the vigil gate to port to fort trinity?
yea i can totaly see how thats running from frostgorge to orr.
And I can see how over 99% of the players don’t do that, because running.

i want to go in there! i dont feel that it should be a dungeon, i feel like it should be a giant puzzle area with many different mini dungeons and puzzle jumps and mini different strategy based activities – something that has a magic feel to it. grinding mobs and bosses in that area would feel like a total waste of that cool castle to me
id love for some kind of in game collectible card game to even be made out of that of place. i mean could you imagine how fun itd be to collect magic cards that have different monsters and abilities on them that you could play with your friends in-game ? just like they did in final fantasy x2
or maybe even some board games, gw2 chess version or something.
this is up in the far shiverpeaks and im curious as to what this is

Waypoint costs are a significant gold sink.
so were axes, picks, and sickles
Axes, picks and sickles are not a gold sink. You can buy them with karma.
Try paying for a waypoint with karma.
karma that wouldve been used to make money off orrian boxes… gold sink still applies here.
A single orrian box costs kitten karma, which equals 13 gathering tools. Each of the 13 gathering tools has 50-100 uses.
That’s not a gold sink.
does it lower your money? yes. thats a gold sink.
You have no clue what a gold sink is, do you.
“Gold sink is an economic process by which a video game’s ingame currency (‘gold’), or any item that can be valued against it, is removed.”
I do, but i dont know about you.
Parroting wikipedia doesn’t mean you understand it.
What are you even trying to get at? If you have the real definition of “gold sink” just say it instead of telling me im wrong just because youre wrong.. I know what it is and definitions online agree with me.
A gold sink removes large quantities of existing gold from the game.
Not buying a purchaseable item of minimal value doesn’t equal removing large quantities of existing gold from the game.
just because karma isnt called “gold” doesnt mean the term gold sink cant apply to it. its still a common currency and has sinks.
over time, the purchases of many small items (gathering tools in this situation) will cause your karma to dwindle and remove a sizeable amount of karma from the game.
the amount doesnt have to be “large” thats opinion on your side and isnt the definition.
If it has nothing to do with removing actual gold from the game, it’s not a gold sink.
It can be a karma sink, whatever. The fact is, it keeps gold in the game, and sinks karma instead.
ive already explained how you turn karma into gold. its still a gold sink. just stop arguing, youre wrong.
PS the turn gold sink doesnt have to be used on currency that isnt called gold. it still works with currencies with a different name. not hard to understand.
rift didnt call their gold sinks platinum sinks.
You didn’t explain anything, you didn’t even think what you were talking about.
An orrian box is an optional purchase, not buying it doesn’t mean you lose any gold.
Furthermore, a single orrian box gives you 4 silver on average, for the 4.5k karma spent. That karma gives you 13 gathering tools, that can last over a month. Not buying one box “sinks” a whopping 4s over a period of one month. That is not a gold sink.
ive explained it perfectly clear to you. the tools could last you a month, that does not mean you will not need to buy them again. youre repeatedly buying small purchases with karma which can be turned in to gold if not for having to buy gathering tools. that is a gold sink.
not buying orrian boxes because you bought something else = loss of gold.
really dont know how you are not understanding something as simple as this.
you can go weeks without having to spend 10s to repair your armor. A “WHOPPING” 10s you just saved yourself in the course of a month. does that mean armor repair is still not a gold sink? of course it doesnt. same concept here.
waypoints are also optional, you can play youre entire game without having to waypoint once(which is exactly how my friend plays). does that mean theyre not a gold sink? no.

I would assume ANet is charged a certain amount for each transaction through PayPal or credit card companies, most retailers are. $10 is more than likely where the upward trend of profitability starts.
Ever wonder why when you sometimes order Chinese food there is a $20 minimum?
with paypal thats about 2% plus .30 cents per transaction.
if you build for burst dont complain on sustain.
we have plenty of sustain if you build it right.
a shield is 3 second block. endure pain is liek a 4 second block. signet of stamina will cure condition. if you have mobility you can use that to get out of fight like gs or sword. if you run runes of hoebrak thats more sustain. if you in wvw you can run lemon grass for even more sustain.
also your traits will affect your sustain.
we have a lot of sustain as it is
