Best would be to be able to sort by 2 options in a grid.
Example : I want to dye the metallic part of my human t3 light armor. After a few tries, it becomes obvious that I need a metallic dye for best result.
But I want a specific color … I need 2-way sorting in order to get, say, all metallic purple dyes.

Even more important : add hue/set/material filters in TP !!!!!
The above example comes from a secondary character I created for WvW, she is not collecting dyes, I had a hard time finding the right ones to preview and choose. (has to use wiki lists)
Btw, the whole TP needs better categories and more filters, also needs existing items to be affected properly to existing categories …

Vizunah
-> lost a few guilds
-> has ridiculous intern dissents because of a few people’s oversized ego.
-> still has enough motivated people and guilds to win the tournament or at least achieve top3

Vizunah
-> is subject to a huge 1v2 operation organized by its current enemies (SFR, Riverside). Not a simple 1v2 that’s an obvious strategy in a given map at a given time and doesn’t imply any communication, but an all-maps organized 1v2 (yesterday evening was obvious)
-> is subject to DDOS attacks on its TS servers (vizu-wide and guild servers)
-> is facing servers that seem to make a wider use of cheats (so-called “dezoom-hack”, “fly hack”, …). Regarding this last issue, and given that the tournament is going on, it would be nice if a few GMs could survey WvW so they can actually see cheaters and ban them. (GMs would do this at least until the end of tournament or until bugs are fixed)

Hi,

Aetherblade goggles jump is very, very hard to achieve since its LS part has gone. But it is now part of the diving achievement.
I have earned this achievement with my 1st account long ago, before this jump was added in it … lucky 1st account ! But now my biggest regret in this game is not to have done this with my other account before this new jump was added !

I am usually considered good at JPs. Not that good, but more than a lot of people (who enjoy my mesmer’s portals btw). But the aetherblade one is clearly the hardest one in the game, and I have a hard time going to the jp/goggles crossing. Once there, going to the goggles way will kill me because of this single bad designed rock, and I always die when jumping with goggles (ok, I have tried this last jump 4 times only yet …)

As mentioned in my 1st sentence, it has BECOME too hard. Why ? Because now there is nobody to rez dead people (when they die in reachable places), and nobody to kill mobs (especially the ones on bottom that will randomly put you in combat while you jump on pillars, and mostly can’t be killed from said pillard because of perma-reset bug). Also, a bug seems to have appeared : perma-combat. Espacially if hit by the fire trap on the 1st part of the ship. Going to character selection screen is the only way to go ooc.

I can see 2 ways of solving the issue (other than saying “just try harder and don’t QQ”) :

- Remove this jump from the diving achievement and/or move it to a new achievement.

- Fix the puzzle : remove mobs (or make them respawn later, and remove resetting mechanism from the ones under the pillars); rework that slippery rock at the beginning of the goggles-only path; fix impossible-to-ooc bug on fire trap; AND add checkpoints/autorez (if this is easier to dev : let us use the nearby waypoint for rez, add golems like in the Nightmare Tower : (a) after going through the mountains, at the beginning of the ship room (b) at the crossing of puzzle/goggles paths before the slippery rock © near the goggles)

Too much silk on TP - SOLVED!

It is because an insignia only requires cloth (> 3 bolts of damask for ascended), compared to inscriptions which require metal AND wood (> 3 deldrimor steel ingots AND 3 spiritwood planks).
So to be consistent with the amount of t5 needed, they made damask require 100 silks.

I just leveled 6 lvl500 crafting professions (because I am playing on 2 accounts).
I salvaged all the exotics I made, using Black Lion Salvage Kits

Here are the result, probably not enough for a real statistics documentation, but showing a tendency.

@deffy : I was there last night too. No discussion between VS and Piken nor taking turns ! VS has done all the job taking the tower again and again, emptying your supply, opening doors and walls. Piken came to leech. Yes, we entered while you were fighting them, but if it had been about taking turns, they wouldn’t have wiped us at lord just before we finish capping.
Both servers knew that it would be easier to let the other fight SFR than fighting the other before rushing on SFR^^, so it was purely about doing what seemed the best strategy at any given time. (and yes, we attacked each other several times in your keep).
The guys ended up stealing our cap, my guild punished them (reset their T3 towers while their were still in your keep)

@Mithran : I don’t think Piken looses on purpose because (a) we don’t need a “purpose” on their side to beat them, (b) their only chance to get back to #2 (ex aeco) would have been to win this matchup.

Nobody is cheating because
a) There are 3 servers, 2 attacking the same is something that can happen and is part of WwW
b) There is not even any concertation. You, SFR, know that Piken is an opportunist who will attack the weak one. You have used this fact in the past (before season 1), focusing us so we were weaker and then Piken just attacked us too. Now the same happens backwards : we focus you (because you are the only one able to equal our 1st rank and because of old antagonism between our servers) —→ Pikens decides to attack you too.

Even if this would be considered as cheating, there is no need for disqualification because
a) Whatever happens during this 7th week, we’ll still be #1
b) We have been double-focused during other weeks too.
c) You during 1st week and us during other weeks proved that being double-focused doesn’t imply 0-tick. Your whole argument is a link to a post about the 0-tick … this link only proves that SFR gave up.

And last : no matter what happens during this week ,you can’t lose your #2 position (and we wouldn’t have let you share #1)

Final analysis on candy corn?

I’m not here to talk about item flipping/playing the TP, just about the candy corn pricing.

In 2012, there was much more candy corn than needed, making it valueless and filling the TP with millions.
So, in 2013 Anet decided to fix this. Good idea. But they fixed through THREE changes, changing the issue to the opposite issue (= not enough candy anymore).

1 → Reducing the amount of gathered candy corn (remember in 2012 we has harvest points everywhere, now in 2013 there were much fewer, making it impossible to “farm”, and making non-farmers who just harvest along their way get much less)

2 → adding new nice sinks that a lot of players would want to use (mihnipet, 20-slot bags)

3 → making the amounts of candy corn needed much higher through the creation of cobs (multiplying by 250 (!!) the amounts for weapon recipes, high prices for point (2) items too)

Only 1 of these would have been nice to balance Candy Corn. 2 of these also empty the TP off 2012’s corn in a few days. All 3 of these fixes just create a new issue that is the opposite of 2012’s one :
- 2012 corn disappeared in a matter of minutes.
- candy corn price, while OK for each unit, became much too high in regards to the amounts needed →
-- “sink” items were made inaccessible (minipet price = too high for a festival pet – bag price = meaningless)
— 2012+2013 items (eg weapon recipes’ recipes) are now “you made a recipe in 2012, lucky you : you’re now part of the oligopoly of players who control the creation of these weapons” and “you didn’t make a recipe in 2012 ? In 2013 just give up the idea and buy a weapon from those guys from the 2012’s oligopoly”.

In short, I’m not saying that a rebalance wasn’t a good idea nor that making some items a bit harder to get is bad. But I’m saying that this balance, cumulating 3 fixes, was too strong.

Btw : this may be a proof that the balance was stronger than intended : Anet tried to sink corn through bags. Festival bags usually let players get nice inventory bags for a lower price (or for free/achievements). Bag price = 15000 corns = ~-60-75 gold coins. Since non-festival 20-slots bags cost 10g, I think it proves that the balance was much stronger than intended !

To anet : next year please either review the prices (for example cobs could cost 250 instead of 1000 corns ?); or give us back the 2012 supply (harvest nodes everywhere) so that the supply meets the demand in regard to the intended price for halloween items (especially minipets and inventory bags).

Infinite gathering tools : let us choose !

Hi,

Recently the gathering tools have been updated : they are now account bound, but the price went up from 800 to 1000 gems.
I am OK with the idea of more expensive tools that are account bound : a lot of players prefer this system.

BUT, some of use use these tools mostly for convenience. And having to switch tools from 1 character to the other isn’t very convenient ! So, some of us will still want infinite tools on several characters at once, and you just made it more expansive for us, with no advantage from paying more !

I can see 2 ways of solving this issue :
Option A : multi-character
When we buy an account bound item, let us use this item on several characters. Every account possessing a given tool should be able to get several copies of this tool. Again, there are several options :
- Free. Unlock them in Hero panel near Zenith Weapon skins.
- Gold. Have them sold for IG money by black lion employees. This could work like GW1’s festival hats maker : show a tool to the NPC to add it in the unlocked tools list, then buy copies from him.
- Gems : have the price in gems lowered to 200 gems starting from the 2nd purchase.

Option B : let us choose
Sell 2 items in the trading post : account bound (1000 gems), soul bound (400-600 gems) so that we can simply choose. Soul-bound purchased after the update should not be convertible to account bound of course.

TP item categorization and filtering

I agree so much.
Trading post needs a full review of categorization. Some categories are not even used, some contain an incredible variety of items, some need more sub-filters (armors is the best example), and some items seem to be impossible to find in any category.

WvW golem mastery is the only one missing, and either Anet already has plans to add it, or they have a good reason not to add it.
I like the idea of adding this last missing WvW trait line, but I don’t like the self-destruct skill idea at all.

Hi,

Here are 2 ideas to improve the account vault organization, since both tabs (bank and collections) are getting bigger and bigger.

a) Add a text field on top of each Bank tab, similarly to Guild Vault tabs.

Even better : have this text be considered as tab titles, and add them to a dropdown list on top of the bank similarly to Collections.

b) Split the Collections tab into at least 2 new tabs : Minipets and Materials.

Hi,

I really love the new path too. Nice mechanics, nice bosses, nit fights, nice landscape.
However, there are a few things that need to be reviewed :

a) End boss. Too much luck involved. I’m not complaining about it being too hard to learn mechanics : I’m ok with them. Finished the dungeon once yesterday with my ranger. But today I try to do the same with my mesmer (so that I get meta achievement on my other account) : more than 2 hours fighting the end boss, for no reward because the guy who started the dungeon left.
Not because it is too hard or even we didn’t master the mechanics (before the 1st 2 wipes we did bad, but seriously after them the team was nice : boss was most of the time without shield, we were always pulling holograms to him …). But he has some combos that are a bit too unfair, sometimes inescapable. Being trown to 2-hours-spining-metal is one of them. Having the same spinning metal thrown to you when you are downed … and most of the time when he gets to 5%hp he will down everyone at once.
*There are probably ways of making this a bit less unforgiving/luck-tied, while not completely nerfing the difficulty. For example *
- Spinning metal could disappear earlier. They really feel like they last for 2 years. If a teammates is killed by one of them, he can’t get up, and we can’t rez him for a long part of the fight.
- Remove damage off the 5-knockbacks attack. The knockbacks are powerful enough w/o dmg and we have to be careful not to be in a position that would let this attack thrown us to electric fields.
- Have the boss attack living people as a priority, not throwing spinning metal to downed people. (he could also avoid throwing spinning metal to the platforms that we use to escape electric fields)
- This idea probably goes too far but I’ll tell it anyway : remov the reset mechanics off this boss.

I know that all 4 above ideas are about things that may be avoided by good players, but implementing one of these things would make the boss less unforgiving, and wouldn’t ruin his difficulty and nice design. I’m not talking about necessarily implementing all 4 of them : just choose 1, 2 or 3 out of them :-)

b) Old TA path : the new path is very nice, but it uses a new map, so there is not even a need for room. I really don’t understand why the old path had to be removed. I read the thread about this question, read Anet’s arguments … but still : Anet seems to think that removing a path somewhere in the game was necessary in order to make the new one. Why ?
If it’s an issue with the Dungeon Master title, there would have been 2 solutions : (a) not include the new path in the achievements, (b) add it as a 4th TA path (just like Arah) and update dungeon completion achievements for those who already had the title (= what has been done for Diving Goggles achievement when the 38th ones where added to the game). Those guys (including me) will still have the new achievement category to do …
It may have been a least played path in the game, but some of us liked it. What’s the point of removing existing content when you add new content ?

All WvW titles (with exception of 250k kills) were/are completely insane and mostly impossible.

1,000,000 caravans is an extremely stupid amount. If you were to only kill caravans all the time, with no breaks what-so-ever, and if there’d be 2 minutes between each kill, that would take a little over 3 years of constant caravan-killing to get the achievement. And let’s say that you spend 1 hour a day on killing caravans, that would take you over 70 years to get the achievement.

Didn’t calculate time needed for supply achievements. Probably lower but still insane.

So, if Anet decides to change some/all of these titles, it is a good idea.
But 2.5 + 1 million replaced with 10+10 units, and no more title ????

These achievements are not even achievements anymore. Just go once to WvW, grab supply once, use it once. Done.
I’m not a huge WvW player (tbh I’m a PvE player, going to WvW with my guild for 3-6 hours/week). So I’m not talking about frustration of losing a huge progress (didn’t have) and I’m not unhappy to get max achievement points easily; but I’m trying to be objective here : this needs a higher target.

I understand that this one may have been removed for one reason : prevent people from ruining the game by trying to get this achievements by the only effective (but still too long) way = build a lot of weapons near supply camps.

But if there are achievements that are not too hard to get and most people know that they will get it after a few months of not too much playing WvW (=just like PvE achievements or a bit higher since PvE ones are undersized); most of them will stop focusing them and just wait for them to come … not ruining the WvW match !

Example : 5-10 000 supply per achievement.

Or if the “stop ppl from ruining game” hypothesis is wrong and the nerf is just about removing impossible achievements : 20-50 000 supply per achievement.


Btw, there is nothing about this change in the update notes. Anet, what happened ? Was this change intended to be included in this update ? What are the official reasons for this change ?

95% of the playerbase uses the guide, but not all of those 95% are kittens who have to use a guide and follow it without using their brain.
For example, I used the guides for bauble achievements. For a single reason : the game is designed so that you want to use the guide (or spend 3 days in SAB for each bauble achievement which, if you assume that we are NOT using a guide, should award 100 points instead of 5^^). Run all around, jump everywhere, throw bombs, play flute, find a lot of baubles … kill boss and discover that there is at least 1 bauble you didn’t find. Too late.
Which is kinda disappointing : I had a lot of fun in W1Z1 normal mode in April, happily jumping everywhere looking for baubles.
If only this achievement was awarded on getting the last bauble instead of killing the boss, I would try this without a guide : happily jump around until I get the achievement.

Hi,

I’m trying to get master of baubles. It looks like dodge jump is required ! I’m using dulfy video, got the first dodge-jump bauble using the whip before jumping near the platform, so I didn’t need dodge-jump.
But now I’m near the end, and there is another dodge jump. Don’t want to fail after hours in there.

a) Is there another way to go to the yellow bauble ?
b) How is a dodge jump supposed to be done ? Since april and the first SAB sessions, I have tried every space/V/double tap combination and have never achieved one : dodge-jump seems to be a completely broken mechanic which only works for very few players … am I missing something ?

ps : Anet plz fix this jump so that it doesn’t require doge-jump anymore. Aaaaaannd award master of baubles world2 for free to anyone who has done all other bauble achivements : even without this stupid dodge-jump issue (I there is no way around I will not do the 3 hours run again); I bet that a lot of players missed this achievement because it was simply bugged for a too long time and they may not be able to play again before SAB is removed.

edit : Got it using TWO KEYBOARDS. As I said, this is a broken mechanic; I think a lot of players don’t have spare keyboards or ability to press keys on both at once.

You can go out of there if you roll (dodge) forward.
And once you are aware of the issue, you can avoid jumping on these things while they are still moving.

Has this issue once. With the other similar gong earlier in the level (don’t remember if I was in tribulation or not).
I didn’t give up. I got out by dodging forward after trying to move/jump//stuck everywhere.

For my other runs I was extra-careful : do not jump on these things while they are still moving.

Why I gave up on SAB.

1) Tiny ledges. Those really thin ones which you probably shouldn’t be able to jump on but are supposed to anyway and look as though you’re floating in air when you stand on due to the strangeness of collision boxes. I had a difficult enough time aiming for and remaining on these things on my asura. I pity anyone who tried this with a Norn or Charr.

No issue there. I went to all ledges in this room, never saw the “floating in the air” bug. And these jumps are not that hard. Also, if you take the shortest path there are very few jumps to do !
Btw, in SAB all characters are reduced to Asura size. So, no issue with norns. Asura may even be the hardest to play there since they end up being wider than human/sylvari/norn for the same heigth. Don’t know for Charrs.

2) Rooms full of spike pits anywhere outside of Tribulation Mode. I mean really? Especially when I don’t even get a chance to line up my next jump before I’m knocked back into the pit by an immediately respawning icicle. Losing progress is punishment enough, especially when I’m expected to expertly clamber up multiple tiny ledges in order to get knocked off the platform again.

They are really not like tribulation spikes. More like poison water in World 1. In tribulation, they instant-kill you.

3) Disconnects. Seriously, why hasn’t this been looked at yet. The game is a year old and we still don’t even have a five minute grace period for private instances in case of a login server/router tantrum. In my case, the login server had a fit when I’d finally made it to the Storm Wizard after several hours of cursing and failing, got him down to about a third of his HP, and then… “the login server is inaccessible”. Really? It wasn’t even as though my net dropped, as GW2 was the only program that disconnected.

Have to agree on this. Fortunately, I didn’t encounter this issue at any time while doing all SAB and Tribulation achievements (on 2 accounts^^) : I was probably lucky.
But this issue is not SAB-related. Those “login servers” (and also some game servers that are not called “login”) that seem to require connexion even long after login, are completely crap and will disconnect us randomly while we are playing. Everyone hates this ! This is especially frustrating when it happens in SAB or in WvW (my server has long and unfair join queues).

Hi,

I’m in tribulation w2z3, trying to enter the last shops. I already played the whole song 20 times (jumping from cloud to cloud between notes), the door is still closed.
Yesterday I had the same issue with my other account but at some point the door opened – didn’t understand what I did different. But today it doesn’t happen.

How is the song supposed to be played ?
I tried 2 methods : pre-play a “3” on cloud (-1) or cloud (-2), the jump on cloud 1 then either
- “33” on cloud 1, “23” on cloud 2, “31” on cloud 3
- “3” on cloud 1, “3” on cloud 2, “2” on cloud 3, back to cloud (-1), “3” on cloud 1, “3” on cloud 2, “1” on cloud 3.

I also tried to jump on the No Cloud but it seems impossible.

Edit : got it open after playing the whole song 3 times with a guild mate’s technique : no preparation note, long “3” on first cloud, “32” on 2nd cloud near No Cloud, “331” very fast on 3rd cloud.
This wall is bugged, needs fixing (or at least remove the No cloud so that we can play the song 40 times without having to run 40 times)

Hi,

My ranger and my thief (who have done tribulation mode respectively on my account 1 and 2) now have a much higher /deaths count because of SAB Tribulation.

But SAB is supposed to be a game in the game. My character’s character will die a lot, but my character herself should not die since she is supposed to be here, pushing those buttons :

Yes. Every other time you respawn dead before being able to jump out of there.
It’s horrible because that checkpoint is just before one of the (the ?) hardest parts.

There is another bug near the beginning between cloud save 2 and 3, when you reach a platform with several jumping rocks. If you are unlucky, those rocks will perma-block you and you have to use the “travel back to the hub” icon and restart everything.

gw2events.me tells you which Scarlet meta event is up.
Go to “Scarlet Attacks”, the last menu item.

For european servers, the API is bugged so sometimes an event is marked as Active even if it is finished. So, only go to scarlet’s attacks that have been up for less than 40 minutes

Maybe a bit too much nerf for me (0 dmg from banana’s freeze/frogs, jeyzers fixed), but … you can’t get to a diffilculty level that would be perfect for everyone ^^

Unfortunately at at my parent’s for 4 days and my (old) laptop will probably not let me play SAB in good conditions, but I’m ready to spend full days in there as soon as I get back to my place !

ps : I read somewhere in page20 a comment about how buying an infinite coin raises the fun because you don’t have to worry about lives anymore. I have bought 2 of them (2 accounts) and I can confirm this. But this is a purely psychological effect that can’t be adressed.


edit : @Farzo : how does this work ? Back in April, I tried to set a dodge key (I usually play without it because I prefer double tap on zqsd(wasd)) and all combinations of Z(W), space, V in all order and all time intervals. Never achieved any dodge jump

Smaller team, actually. And the length was my own desire to get as many ideas as I could in there. I spent several months pulling 16 hour days and a couple weeks where I did a couple 36 hour stretches, went home, slept and came back and did it again. No one else wanted me to do that. In fact those sort of crazy hours are discouraged at ArenaNet. I did that because I freeking love what I do and wanted this release to be the best thing ever. Turns out I pushed too hard to get those new mechanics in there and I’m being told here over and over that all that work was wasted and it’s making people miserable. I’ve learned my lesson. Won’t happen again! And for that, my family thanks you!

All this work is not a waste at all. SAB is a great thing and we thank you for making it !

The only thing, is a bit too high difficulty in normal mode which can be solved by “just” changing a few parameters (less HP on ennemies, no more life lost when simply falling in the void, remove the new limit on digging spots)

Those things that I hope are simple to change would be enough to make the World2 as great as World1, and all of us are going to have lots of fun in SAB exploring the new maps and experimenting the new mechanics.

Keep on the good work (but don’t kill yourself at it, we can wait a bit more between next releases so you can sleep and have family time )

Because ascended gear comes from different sources, which is pretty nice.

Results of salvaging lvl 70-80 greens. Not sure about the numbers : used 2633 and 2632 salvage charges but this includes golds. Would say I salvaged 2550 greens on each account.

Conclusion : each green lvl70-80 item rewards around 30 luck points.

I’m currently dieing in infantile mode. Didn’t go normal yet.
Infantile doesn’t help avoiding those enemies that I’m saying are too hard for normal mode.

Exactly. And being a nice&fun platform game without those “issues” was the strengh of SAB.
There is no problem with players like you who like dieing 100 times to master a single jump, but we would expect normal mode to satisfy those who don’t, and tribulation mode to satisfy you.

Btw, I would probably have tried tribulation and accepted to die 1000 times in there, but only after having fun jumping everywhere in normal mode. Facing this difficulty in normal mode really fells bad.

A few solutions (all for normal mode only) :
→ Decrease all the enemies hp to 50
→ when falling to the void , teleport the player to the last checkpoint, not decrementing a life (= back to the “no falling damage” concept, without having to redesign the entire maps)
→ remove the digging nerf : if players want to get out and enter SAB repeatedly to get baubles from digging, I don’t see why you would stop them (unless you want to sell infinite coins^^) : no impact on game economy, no impact on other’s players game ….
→ Remove the instant kill things in zone2 (replace them with a wall if needed)

Hi,

I come here to confirm that world2 is much too hard.
I had a huge lot of fun in world1 and I was highly expecting this update, thinking I would have that much fun again in world2. I’m now very disappointed.

SAB1 was very fun because it was mostly a huge 8bit/like jumping puzzle, you could jump aroudn everywhere searching for baubles, trying to find your way, to find secrets … and there was no difficulty issue.
Of course you could fail a jump, and have to restart a long path to get back up, but you didn’t die (I even remember reading somewhere on these forums, that falling damage was removed from SAB for it to be more fun so we could jump everywhere, not worry about falling, not die too much for stupid reasons … so this means that some months ago, Josh Foreman was aware that for most players, dieing a lot != fun)

Now comes world2. And tribulation mode.
What did I expect from these ?
(a) as much fun as before in SAB normal mode. Which means a world2 with a difficulty level similar to world1 even if there could be some new mechanics to learn.
(b) a tribulation mode for players who like unforgiving games, including the harder ennemies, maybe falling deaths, instant kills, …

_What did come with this release ? _
(a) a world2 that is much harder than world1, including all the things that I would have expected in tribulation mode only, removing all the fun from SAB
(b) I didn’t try tribulation yet. But players told me that tribulation world 1 is easier than normal world 2. Which proves my point : world2 is too hard in normal mode.

Why is it too hard ?
• The no falling damage thing is gone. Most of the place is designed to that falling will kill you.
• Much harder ennemies. It’s mostly impossible to kill them without being hit. Assassins can knock you back to the void (see the above point) ; bears will kill you is you fail using the whip before they first hit you (and the whip seems to bug …) ; bananas … which I just met and still didn’t find how to avoid being simply killed (may have to use that pay-to-play thing : slingshot).
There are probably ways I didn’t find yet to fight them in a better way, but in any case the fights now take a much too big part of this game.

infinite continue coin
Somewhere in this thread, someone said that world2 has been designed to be a trap to have us all buy infinite continue coins.
Josh came in and strongly denied this.
But let’s be honest : world2 has been made much harder than world1, it is something in which you will die a lot, and on the other hand normal coins are harder to get (no more loot from outside jumping puzzle chests, and world2 implies using a lot of baubles for potions, new stuff and slingshot while the digging spot “farms” have been nerfed, so we will not buy a lot of coins with baubles)

So, either you didn’t want world2 to be a trap to have us buying the infinite coin, and in this case world2 is a fail (and a big fail compared the the flawless world1) ; or world2 is a trap.

That’s 18€/month for a server (which is necessary because I run TS3, and because I’m using unix shell batches to update my database with API information, 2 things that are impossible if I use a simple php/mysql shared hosting plan).
I have a “best effort” 100mbps bandwidth. Would have to pay 50€/month to get a server with a “guaranteed” 200mbps.

Also, I know that invasions are still going on (which is why I didn’t even speak about rolling back to the way the API worked before they added “inactive” status – which would have prevented labyrinthine events from appearing in the json but not the scarlet ones).
But, unless you want to draw a live map, the only events status useful for scarlet invasions are the meta events (13 different ones : http://events.gw2organizer.com/events/events.php?mode=7&list=2), not all of those 1282 red events.
About crown pavilion and labyrinthine cliffs events, they may return, which is why they should not be removed from the reference (event_names.json); but in the mteantime we don’t need their status.
For these reasons, I was asking for a second json which would be pre-filtered, keeping the existing one as-is, so people who want to draw full live maps for scarlet can still do it.

Btw, tyvm for the compression tip. I didn’t know it was possible to request a compressed version of a file through https. I’ll test this !!

Grouping IDs are a very good idea. This idea could cover both my “filtered api” and my “white list request” needs.

- all “normal & permanent” events = ID 1
- temporary-content or other living story related events = one ID for each release.
- all world bosses (and pre events ?) = another ID
- …

I would be able to call ID1 + currently active temporary content IDs every minute, and WB’s ID every 20 seconds.

There are artificer recipes to change blue luck to green to gold to exo. Use them if you are having trouble clicking on blue stacks. (free and iso-luck transformation)


Salvaged ~2600 greens on each account yesterday. Went from 26% (achievement rewards + free 20%) to 93%.

Hi,

Since Clockwork Chaos update, the event list has become much bigger : all the Scarlet attacks sub-events have entries in the API : https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/events.json

There are 1282 of these (+13 Scarlet meta events), and we probably don’t need them in API since they generate a huge amount of data which doesn’t provide any useful information.

It would be nice to have another API, say events2.json, providing the same information but filtering all events that are not necessary.
This include the aforementioned 1282 scarlet events, but also inaccessible and removed events (Crown’s Pavilion, Labyrinthine Cliffs, Queen’s Champion/Escorts …). For some reason, the latter still have entries in the API and some events are even Active while I write this :

My code is quite well optimized and can handle more data, I have no performance issue updating 200,000 events every minute and consolidating the status change times. BUT that data takes longer and longer to download and this is becoming an issue. (btw, from 1600*51 events when the API was created, there are now 4400*51 events … Scarlet is probably not the only responsible)

Renting a server with a better&guaranteed bandwidth would cost 3 times as much as my current server. And since I don’t get a single € or $ from adds as of now, this is not an option.


In addition to this generic blacklist filtered API, it would be nice to have a webservice providing whitelist filtered status.
https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/events.json?event_id=XXXXX is nice but if you have to check ~40 specific events, you have to call ~40 json downloads. “wget -i” option makes it much faster but it’s still very slow compared to a single download.
I use this to update some fast dieing world bosses and some of their pre-events every 20 seconds. It would be nice to call a webservice, providing my list of event IDs and getting the full status lists in a single json file.
