Strategy vs. Tactics aka GLORY

Still wouldn’t incentivize WVW. People simply want to kill other players and brag about it. The reason why good strategies don’t work and why commanders are ultimately powerless to actually command is because very few people care about anything other than 1) bolstering their egos and 2) getting items and achievements for themselves. People will leave no matter what when they realize there’s no profit in it for them, and they don’t want to “waste their time” doing non-zerg activities that actually require skill and planning.

How exactly do they plan on adding new races?

Equinox.4968

Don’t they have other teams working in the background on bigger stuff? I don’t see why they wouldn’t add new races. It wouldn’t be too tough to make an LS about the Dominion of Winds and several nearby islands being opened and the Tengu being playable. Or one about the Koda that adds them as playable. As for the question of them making sense to the PS fighting Zhaitan, well, why can’t newer races have a different Personal Story? Yeah, it’d be a lot of work, but it’d be interesting. Adding a new race is nothing new, I don’t see why it’s so unbelievable for it to happen in GW 2. Now, I don’t think it’s probable for the rest of this year or next year, but you never know.

Still has to work with the Destiny’s Edge meta-story and the dungeon stories, which wouldn’t work if the new races weren’t tied in with the original five—which would require massive retcons. Also, as I said, new races and classes are near the very bottom of Anet’s priority list, according to everything I’ve read from them. Again, you have to have a more compelling reason than “because I can” or “it would be fun.” It’s like the class discussions: I’ve yet to see anyone make a compelling case for adding a new class that isn’t similar to existing ones and has entirely new concepts that haven’t already been covered in some way or another and aren’t better suited to new skills and weapons for existing professions. The only defenses are “why not,” “I want it” or “it would be interesting/fun,” and you really need a lot more solid of a foundation before you can even think of successfully implementing something as significant as a new class, let alone a new race.

Blahblah, besides all that, because it would be fun & I hope they do add more races + race change.

I mean they did bring SAB into GW2, if we learned anything from MMO’s lore is for books.

SAB is a game within a game though, and it fits the asuran culture. “It would be fun” isn’t sufficient justification for doing something so drastic as adding a new playable race. As for race change, that also seems impossible, as you’d have to redo your personal story from the start, which really isn’t an option for a higher-level character.

I understand people want certain changes, but you have to go beyond wanting something and also consider its possible ramifications on the community, the game engine and systems, and the lore and culture of the game.

To be cruel, instead of burning or burying, the effect could be the map would be clear like a “Hide All Players/Player Names” and the dead player would only see a complete Keep or Tower (if they died in or near one) they would not be able to see anything (Not even NPC’s or Mobs)..all they would see is the loot bags they did not get when they died.

Call it “Displaced Soul”

Simpler solution would just to make defeated players screen black in WvW. Map screen and menus would work, but other than that it would be just the shadow of death for you, pal.

Either of those would work too, even if there was no player action necessary to make it that way. I don’t see how it would be that difficult for Anet to implement something like that.

Equinox.4968

Why do we need new races? The GW2 story is about the 5 most dominant races in Tyria as of 1325 AE. I don’t see why we need to have more races involved, especially now that (since the LS seems to take place after the PS) they would have to retcon all sorts of things to make the races fit in to the story, hire dozens and dozens of voice actors, and probably completely revamp many of the existing zones to accomodate the new race.

Anet has said that creating new races is a very, very low priority for them since they’ve balanced gameplay around the interactions between the currently playable 5 races. New character classes are at the very bottom of the list. I hope we never see either, just additions to what already exists. People seem to want “more” for the sake of having more, without considering whether it meaningfully adds to the scope of the game. They only seem to care about novelty and disregard how difficult it would be to add such content and still make everything work well.

Consider the tengu, which many consider to be the most likely race to be added (if any ever do get added). Sure, they have their capital, but how do you make them part of the world? They’ve been isolationists for a long time; anyone who sees them out and about fighting dragons and their minions will be very, very surprised, assuming they even know what a tengu is. And how will Anet be able to make them a believable part of the world without adding tons of new NPCs with new lines, and new dynamic events, throughout existing zones? What would be the starter area for the tengu—Caledon? You couldn’t balance that area between sylvari and tengu interests without disrupting the existing zone quite a lot, since it was created with only the sylvari in mind. The largos are even more of a problem. Despite their popularity, they simply can’t be worked into the story in a logical way, since they’d have to START near late-game areas, and they’re awesome because they’re so mysterious; why would it make sense to start out as a level 1 largo when the ones we’ve seen are all supremely skilled killers? In addition, I think that for story reasons they can’t be playable. I see them as the GW2 version of the White Mantle in GW1: they’re cool at first, until you discover their true motives and methods.

In short, I don’t think they plan on adding new races, because we don’t need new races and it wouldn’t make sense to do so.

It just seems like the burning body mechanic puts the onus on the enemy team too much. Why should they have to worry about you after they killed you? When you’re dead, you should tell no tales, no matter what.

Yes, but we also have to balance it with how the rez system works. And putting a time limit on it seems rather arbitrary.

Also consider that in real life, the burden of disposing of enemy corpses was on the victorious army; if they didn’t take care of all those bodies in a short time, disease and pests would cause major problems. I’m not saying GW2 should follow real life and all that (it’s a game, and it doesn’t have to reflect every aspect of reality), but I do think the burden should be on the victors. If they want to risk people spying on them, let them do so, but give them the option to prevent dead players from being assets to the other side.

If you think burning bodies is the solution, then why not change the title of the thread to “Dead men tell no tales but only if they are burned in a lengthy, interruptable process, otherwise they sing like canaries”

So titles have to be perfectly informative and explain in detail what the thread is about so that people don’t have to read the actual content of the first post? It was a catchy title that describes the gist of my idea, nothing more.

its not worth all of the effort for just a few “spies” to implement something like that.
how often do you really see in WVW people stay dead somewhere extra to see, what the enemy is doing after the battle is over???
Most spies do this if at all only to see, into which direction a large zerg is moving to warn others that trouble is coming in a few seconds on its way…

I see it happen all the time. Being dead provides the perfect opportunity to take your hands off of the controls and start typing information about enemy movements. It’s kind of ridiculous that dead players should be able to provide more information while dead than simply “I got killed by X number of players in Y area.”

A much easier solution would it be, if a killed player just simple gets instantly warped back into base if there is no try of reviving that player within say for example 15 seconds after death and that solution would be also much better for the game in general, especially in huge zerg battles with alot of dead bodies…

Completely arbitrary time limit. What if someone shows up 16 seconds later because the dead player asked for help and it took them that extra second to show up? If it was 30 seconds, what about that 31st second? No, the burden should be on the team that killed the player to get rid of his/her body.

I’m not too keen on the automatic transfer back to base. I think that you should have the option to burn bodies, but if you don’t then any scouting the dead players do is your own fault. It also wouldn’t be fair for people out on their own or in small parties not to be allowed a rez from death by players who are on their way or in the area and show up 30 seconds later in a remote part of the map.

We all should know by now that the Gauntlet is going to return periodically like SAB and festivals. I’ve been reading these forums for a while, and responding to a few, and it seems the general consensus is that Anet can’t do right and there’s a lot to complain about.

Personally I really enjoy this game, I’ve tackled the content that took my fancy and ignored that which didn’t. I’ve more than got my money’s worth from what I paid and I really enjoy the social aspect since I joined a guild.
I come on here to share opinions with other players and I find it really disheartening to see constant negative threads. I do see the occasional positive/constructive one and I appreciate those, so thumbs up to those!

So really it boils down to one query from me:
If this game is really so bad then why are you people still playing ? It makes the forums less enjoyable for players like me who genuinely like the game.

“Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.” —Winston Churchill

“GW2 is the worst MMORPG, except for all those other ones that have been created over the years.” —Me

Just because something is the best doesn’t mean it’s perfect. Look at America today: a morass of corrupt politicians, extremist interest groups, and entitled citizens. Yet it’s still the best form of government that’s been tried so far, by most accounts. People play the game because they enjoy some aspects of it, but enjoying the game doesn’t mean you can’t have criticisms. It’s not black and white; there’s always room for improvement, and as it stands GW2 would benefit from quite a lot of improvement. But it’s also true that there are many things that set the game far above what’s come before, at least for a certain demographic that’s grown tired of things in other MMOs.

Here’s a possible compromise. Everyone who doesn’t play the game like I want them to must be punished. Casual players must become super good with leet skills or be removed from the game. Just like I said here.

Fixed that for you.

Please explain why success ought to mean the same as failure then. “It doesn’t matter why, because it does” is not sufficient to explain why. This is not how I want things to be, it’s how things ought to be based on how Anet set up the game. Are events NOT designed to be completed? Because the way the game is set up, it seems like they should be. Or are you saying we should just be thrown experience and loot for just existing, without putting any effort into the game?

Let me explain it this way.

No one plays your game, they play their game.
You do not own the game.
You do not make the rules.
You have no business telling anyone how they should play.
You have no business demanding they listen to your instructions.
You have no business suggesting that players must live up to your standards or be forced from the game.

That is as clear as I can make it.

And you have no right to tell me I have no right to state my opinion. I don’t presume to have Anet’s authority or be able to change the game, or have power over other players to force them to do something. This is merely my opinion. What’s wrong with stating it? “Should” does not mean “is.” I am simply stating my opinion of what should happen.

I may have no right to force anyone to do anything, but nobody has a right to tell me I can’t express my opinions and explain what I think would help GW2. I can opine that people should do things a certain way all day long, and that’s ok. I can suggest that people should strive to attain certain minimum standards all day long, and that’s ok. It’s freedom of speech, and this is a free country. I am not trying to make this a personal attack, but it seems to me that you’re taking this very personally because I’m suggesting something that you disagree with. Disagreement is fine; debate is a healthy means for figuring out problems. Demanding that someone be silent because you don’t like what they have to say is not ok.

I prefer the suggestion from quite a long time ago that would force any enemy corpses within a secured facility to respawn at their home base once the engagement ended. So if you take a keep, when you’ve claimed the keep and then pushed back any counter attack events all corpses from the previous owner, or whoever get forced to respawn, no accepting or anything, they just respawn. If someone comes to take your keep and you push them back, when the event finished anyone who was inside the keep respawns whether they want to or not. If they’re outside they stay there, but if they’re inside they go away.

That aside, burning bodies could be fun.

I agree, but I think it shouldn’t be limited to just conquered buildings. Battles can happen in a lot of places, but regardless of what happens, enemy players shouldn’t be allowed to “scout.”

Besides, you’ll “carry” people who have great gear but no skills. Gear alone means very little. The best player might be ungeared, and the worst might have fine gear. How does gear tell you anything at all? The best possible stats mean nothing without experience and intelligence.

Aren’t you the guy who basically suggested that Anet should make some sort of ‘test of skill’ that people need to pass in order to play the game?

So an inspect is totally off limits, but something as intrusive and quite insulting as having a test before being allowed to play a game is totally normal.

That sounds fair…

Not a test before being allowed to play a game, simply in-game tests to show that you actually know what you’re doing before you can access certain content. And an inspect tells you nothing about skill, and skill, not stats, will save you in this game. You could have the most incredible looking armor with the highest stats in the game, yet if you don’t know what you’re doing (as all too many people in this game don’t), you’re toast. Better to test skill—what actually matters—rather than gear, which is important but not outcome-determinative.

For the record, I and 3 other people who had never done AC P2 before teamed up with one guy who had. He explained that boss fight in 30 seconds and commented afterwards that we had pretty much destroyed it in record time, with no deaths and maybe one person briefly downed. It’s ludicrous to suggest that something like that could never happen, or that you can’t bother to spend 30 seconds of your life to enlighten others and make everyone’s experience a little better. Is 30 seconds that big of a deal? If it is, then I’m rather concerned.

In other words, you expect farmers to take a huge risk spending their time on invasions, and if they win they only receive what they are already guaranteed to get right now. Why should farmers agree to this? That’s not a compromise at all, that’s blatant unilateralism which favors the completers and is nothing but more whining on your part, thinly veiled as higher discourse.

So you’re saying that it shouldn’t matter whether events get completed or not? The problem may be with these events in particular, but I’m talking about events in general. It makes absolutely no sense to me that events should be equally rewarding whether you complete them or not, or worse, even MORE rewarding if you DON’T complete them. Sort of like how these days, spending forever in college seems to be more rewarding than going out and getting a job. The point of college (and events) is to complete them to gain something that will prove valuable in the future, not to take college/the events as ends unto themselves. Again, as I’ve said before, much of the blame lies with Arenanet for making it so that events are less profitable when completed. But why should failing an event (or at least having blatant disregard for whether it’s successful or not) be rewarded? Success and failure ought to be quite distinct, with success being notably more profitable than failure, and failure being something unequivocally undesirable. In other words, the margin between success and failure should be tangible, clearly defined, and act as a motivator that compels people to successfully complete events, not be indifferent to them, or worse, use them for farming rather than completing them.

As to the inspect feature : it has to happen. Why? Because it’s terrible having to carry people around.

This is the problem, right here. You are an elitist. You feel that just because someone isn’t playing the game just the way you want YOU are somehow being imposed upon if you are “stuck” working with them.

You are not carrying people around. That isn’t how this game works. Just because they might not be killing things quite as fast as you like doesn’t make them deficient.

The problem is you and your rude expectations. I’m not going to say you’re doing it wrong, because the point is to do it the way you want to. But that also means not imposing your view of how to do it on anyone else either.

So…what, you want to be showered in precursors, Ascended trinkets, and gems the whole time you’re in the game, without having to display any actual skill? Or if you are skilled, do you want the worst player in the game to get exactly the same stuff you do, without expending any effort?

This is what you get already. Farming aetherblades scales up the events being farmed, not all the events. If people going for completion stopped zerging around when they realized there weren’t heaps of other zergs backing them up, they could split and do lots of easier events at the same time.

So if there are fewer farmers, what changes other than the zerged-up events being easily beatable by the smaller groups?

As I stated in one of the other threads about this topic; doing anything that puts risk or nerfs drops for farmers will cause them to be less likely to farm the maps. With less people, you’ll be even more likely to fail.

Just look at Crown Pavilion. People have less incentive to farm there so it’s usually near empty; even at peak hours. For those that still need the 100 kills from each emissary, they’re going to have a tough time.

I’m not so sure…with fewer people, the events won’t scale as badly, so it’ll actually be way easier for smaller groups to finish the events on time. Part of the reason why events take so long at present is because of massive upscaling due to huge zergs doing the events.

Imagine the RAGE from people when they lose half the loot bags they “earned” because they failed the event. Players will be blaming each other, the chat box will explode as will the forums.

If they had implemented this initially, then it would simply be part of the event. But now it’s too late.

Unfortunately, everyone will have to farm as much as possible now to keep up with the economy — and especially since you can be sure there will be a major nerf on Tuesday.

So…you’re saying that people should be mad that there are consequences for failure? People rage every time Arenanet “nerfs” a farm, there’s no getting past that. Yet “nerfs” are essential for preserving balance and ensuring fairness. The only unfair part is that farms are allowed to exist for so long before being adequately addressed, and there’s no consequence for early adopters yet latecomers get the short end of the stick. But I see nothing unusual about penalizing failure.

I’m not saying they should be mad, I’m saying they will be mad. For most other nerfs, people were angry at Anet for killing their farms. If this were implemented, players will rage against each other when an event fails. Everyone will be blaming everyone else for doing this or that which caused the event to fail. People already do that when the event fails even though it really means nothing to fail — this would multiply the anger by 100. It’d be bad for the community.

Again, if this were implemented when the invasions were first introduced people would have just accepted this as part of the invasion mechanic — there would be less rage. But it’s too late now.

It’s never too late to fix things that need to be fixed. Let the community rage, this is a ridiculous situation we’re in right now and it needs to be fixed, sooner rather than later. Better it get remedied a week after it started than never get fixed. It took them quite a while to fix the Shadow Form and Ursan farms in GW1, I see no reason why they shouldn’t fix this situation as well.

I strongly oppose the idea of an inspect option. Gear does not equate to skill. For example, the first time I ever did Fractals (shortly after it came out), I was in a party with four 80s, most of whom claimed to have done it before. I was a level 30 mesmer. I was also the one who stayed alive the longest and died the least in each of the three fractals we did. I’m not the best player, but I’m competent, and really that’s all you need—competence. No amount of goodies or shinies will make up for that; all it does it make you look like you know what you’re doing.

All that really needs to happen is for people to realise that as long as you kill Scarelet once, you never need to complete the event again. There’s a bug where the invasion canceler achievement doesn’t increase like its supposed to, and many people believe that when this happens, its because the event wasn’t successful. Once they know they don’t have to succeed, 99% of people stop caring, because they know completing the event results in so few extra rewards its not worth the time or trouble. Last night I was in an invasion with a strange person who refused to believe that failing the event was supposed to increment the canceler achievement, but sometimes does not due to a glitch, despite an entire map of both farmers and non farmers confirming that they have gotten achievement progress for failed maps.

That’s beside the point though…killing Scarlet should have a more profound and beneficial result, and failing should also mean something. The difference between success and failure shouldn’t be a mere 7 or 8 champ bags and an achievement.

I’ve had this idea for a while, but the recent patch and its “destroy enemy scrap” mechanic has made it seem more plausible than ever.

In WVW, dead players can potentially “scout” for their server beyond the grave because bodies remain in the same place they fell until the player idles out or revives. This seems somewhat unfair; in reality, dead soldiers are simply dead and not potentially a benefit to their team. So why not have a “burn body” mechanic to force the dead player into a black screen? It could be like finishing a downed player, but would require a much longer time to activate (say, 15 seconds), and any damage would interrupt it. This would make it a function that would only be useful in cleaning up a battlefield after the battle is over, much like in real life where soldiers would burn or bury corpses after a battle had been won. Realism AND utility!

I’m not raising my hand up, but rather posting to say I’ve met one of your folks.
I kind of felt bad for them when some one tried to troll them into a religion discussion just because of your guild name.

They stuck to their guns and acted in a mature manner, clarifying that this was more of a Fire Emblem thing than anything else.

So kudos to that person.

That was me and thanks for the compliment, we get trolled all the time because we’re serious about having fun :p

And yes, the name is from Fire Emblem; I was really into it at the time I started playing GW1, so I used the name of an item that sounded cool as my guild’s name. No cults, Kool-Aid, or celestial marine mammals here.

Personally, as long as scalet appeal I consider the event successful, which is a failure on Arenanet. They need to redo events so that event mobs don’t give out loot until after the event either fails or succeeds. just like the daily world boss loot, if the event fails then you don’t get loot or get only half of the possible loot.

Also they really need to make a good punishment for failuring. Failure should not be rewarded so generously. And even champions should not be getting in the way of completing events.

I think that between my proposal, the suggestion by others that mobs disappear after an event ends, and an additional idea that, if you fail an invasion after the LS chapter ends and the invasions become much less frequent, the next invasion will be delayed significantly, Anet has the opportunity to make failure actually mean something and to reward successful completion of the invasion meta-events.

Uh I don’t think farmers exactly want the event to fail. There really is no difference between failing and completing the event.

Therein lies the problem. The ticket is to do something to make them care.

As a hardcore farmer, all I want to do is focus on aetherblades/molten when they pop up. That doesn’t mean I want to fail it.

But neither do you feel compelled to succeed. Success and failure should be drastically different, and right now they’re not, so clearly there’s a problem.

Last I checked, the pirates are part of the meta event. Selfishness? I am sorry, but killing champions that were put there to be killed is far less selfish than people demanding others play a certain way; unless you paid for everyone’s copy of the game, you have no right to do that.

That’s what I’m saying, the way the event is currently set up, Anet is essentially condoning not caring about the success or failure of the event. And it shouldn’t be that way. Why even bother having an event if success or failure doesn’t matter?

It seems like everyone in game screaming “IGNORE PIRATES” assumes that if we were not killing pirates, we would be wasting our time on the twisted events. Lets be real here, we wouldn’t even be in the map, the meta event wouldn’t even get as far as it does now (there are more farmers than completers), it would still fail, and farmers would no longer take the false blame. I have seen several fails in which it took 12-15 minutes to kill the first wave, and the blame is still placed on people spending an extra 2 minutes killing aetherblades. If the map fails, farmers have nothing to do with it, they just don’t. This is no different than blaming people who were doing other things on the map before the invasion arrived (map completion, for example).

That’s not to say your idea isn’t good and wouldn’t work, because it is, and it would; except for the intermittent connection issues. I suspect farmers would still be unfairly blamed for every fail, though.

I’m not blaming the farmers so much as saying they should be forced to care about the success of the event. As it stands, they don’t need to and aren’t obligated to. But a fair system would ensure that success or failure actually means something. Right now, success and failure are practically the same thing, and that makes absolutely no sense. What if the Queen’s Gauntlet gave a “consolation prize” of half the money and sprockets you would have gotten if you won, if you failed to kill one of the challenge bosses? It would render failure insignificant.

They did this back in GW1 with unique “green” weapons and some of the designs that made it into the game have become pretty iconic. My only fear is that everyone is going to design even more ridiculously huge greatswords or spikey armor and not something interesting and new.

So obviously there’s been a huge debate between farmers and completers this update. The farmers want to avoid finishing the invasion events so they can farm champions for profit (fun, not so much) and the completers think this is wrong because events are meant to be completed normally, not exploited for the champions they spawn.

Here’s a possible compromise.

Invasions proceed as normal, spawning the current number of champions (meaning the post-fix rate, not the initial, super-high rate we saw on the 20th). Farmers can keep killing these champions however much they please. HOWEVER, any and all champion loot bags that would normally be earned by killing champions tied to the invasion meta-event would be held in reserve until the end of the entire invasion. If the invasion is successfully completed and Scarlet is killed, the player earns all of the loot bags he or she earned. If it fails, the player only receives half the loot bags. Note that these champion loot bags are granted separately from the standard event completion bags you get based on the number of waves that has been defeated. You still get those, but the bags you get from killing champions is effectively “held ransom” while the event is going on.

This seems like a good compromise to me because it still allows people to get tons of loot bags, but also provides a major incentive to complete the event. It seems ridiculous to reward failure (or at least make losing absolutely inconsequential). At the same time, Anet doesn’t seem to care that people are farming, and in fact have encouraged it by giving us these invasion events. So why not allow both sides to profit? The completionists will be happy because the events will succeed, and the farmers will still get their loot, only they’ll have to work twice as hard to get the same result if they want to just mindlessly zerg and farm instead of actually completing the event.

I anticipate opposition from farmers saying that this would be unfair because 1 champion = 1 loot bag, but really? We should reward selfishness and laziness with virtually the same rewards as success? I like shiny stuff as much as the next guy, but we shouldn’t be awarding selfishness and mediocrity. If you want to get loot, EARN IT by being a team player and working towards a common goal.

It appears to have been fixed with today’s patch. I logged in, and there’s now a new dye slot for my Whispers boots. Yay

Same problem here, I was just in the “show off your thief” thread and I looked up some of the exact words, spelling, capitalization and all, that were right in front of me on the page…0 results. I don’t get it.

And now for something completely different…I went for a completely unique custom armor combination. It’s the T1 human cultural facemask, Duelist’s pauldrons, T2 human cultural gauntlets, karma legs (you can’t really see them anyway) and Whispers boots, all dyed black (the name of the dye is Black Dye, it’s not Abyss). Ignore the red daggers on the boots, they’re missing a dye slot due to a bug so I can’t change them to match the rest of the set.

I made this because I always go for practical, functional, and realistic, yet interesting armor. I can’t stand thin leather jackets that probably wouldn’t stop a sewing needle from penetrating, or things that show too much skin or are too exotic looking to be practical. This, on the other hand, is a set that matches the “duelist” character concept; I don’t really use stealth and prefer to have a medium armored character who can hit a billion times a second in a face-to-face fight and yet evade almost everything, and I feel like this set looks like it has enough protection to match that playstyle.

The exact same thing just happened to me. My thief’s entire armor set is dyed black, and I was excited about getting Whispers boots to complete my outfit, but the daggers on the boots are red and there’s nothing I can do to change them.

I would encourage everyone who posted here to ALSO submit an in-game bug report, if you haven’t already.

I’m the leader of a guild that primarily wants to build up a nice in-game community where people don’t have any pressure to do anything, but we also specialize in training new players.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/New-or-casual-Look-no-further/

That link will give you some more information about who we are and what we do and don’t stand for. If you’re not interested in being a “hardcore” or “min-max” player and just want people to hang out with and talk to, I would highly recommend seeing if the Heaven Seal is right for you!

Are you casual or new? Have no clue? Don’t know what to do? The HEAVEN SEAL can help YOU!

Heaven Seal is an 8-year-old guild (established in Guild Wars 1) on the Isle of Janthir server that seeks new and casual players to become part of a friendly, laid-back community. We specialize in helping new players learn about the game. Our philosophy is that even new players can help people at or below their level of experience, and in time, a player can learn enough to help just about anyone.

In terms of help, we will gladly answer your questions, give you advice, and go with you when and if you need help. I (Edge, the guild leader) have a lot of experience with the game, and I have a photographic memory, so ask away…I’m virtually a walking Guildwiki :p

We also have some guild accomodations, namely guild storage. We intend to do guild activities when/if we get enough active members to make that feasible. In the mean time, we’re happy to help or tag along with other guild members.

Unfortunately, between the transition from GW1 to GW2, we lost touch with a lot of members, and we’re looking to build the guild from the ground up. We have a few GW1 veterans who have been playing since launch and have been with the guild for a long time, but we definitely need people who are willing to stick with us so we can get things up and running again. In other words: we have VERY few members right now, so if you’re looking for a guild that’s already super-active, look elsewhere, but if you’re willing to put up with low numbers for a while, feel free to join us.

We have a few policies:

1) You must be 16 or older to join, and immaturity will not be tolerated. There’s a huge difference between having a sense of humor and being immature.
2) No swearing or offensive language. Just because everyone is an adult doesn’t mean people won’t be offended, and it’s in the best interest of the community that everyone gets along. Discussions of politics and religion are fine, but if they get too divisive you may be asked to drop the subject to avoid unnecessary drama.
3) If you go two weeks or so without logging in and without notice that you planned to be away, we reserve the right to kick you, but you can rejoin when you come back. We certainly don’t expect our members to play every single day, but if you’re not on at least once every week or so, there’s not much point having a functionally non-present guild member on the roster.
4) We strongly encourage activity and communication. It’s ok to be quiet while you’re concentrating on doing something, but people who log in but never respond to guild chat may be kicked. In other words, you SHOULD join if you’re friendly, talkative, and want to be part of our community. You SHOULDN’T join if you don’t intend to make your presence known or aren’t willing to at least say something every once in a while.
5) We are on Isle of Janthir ONLY and will not accept members from other servers.

WHAT WE DO:

*General PvE
*Dungeons (if enough people are on, or we can help you with a particular dungeon you need help with)
*Socialize
*CASUAL WvW (not a regular activity, but we’re not averse to partying up and roaming around)
*CASUAL PvP (same)

WHAT WE DON’T DO

*Speedruns or daily runs of dungeons (no “raiding”)
*World event farming (you can do that on your own, but it’s not something we endorse as a guild)
*Dedicated/regular/hardcore WvW or PvP
*Dedicated/regular/hardcore guild activities (though we could definitely do some when we have enough people, whenever we can schedule a time that’s mutually agreeable)
*Powerleveling
*Powergaming/min-maxing/gimmick builds (we DO NOT support gimmick builds, “twinking,” required optimization of builds/equipment, or anything that trivializes content; we encourage personalized and/or uniqu builds and playstyles, so long as they work and are well thought out)

In short: if you want to help build a community of social, friendly players, look no further than the HEAVEN SEAL!

Feel free to contact Edge Equinox (me) in-game, send a message here on the forums, or send an email to heaven.seal@hotmail.com if you’re interested.
