No but sometimes this game does make me feel like becoming an hero.

Personally, I would say ele – only thing I don’t have experience with an ele that you asked about is high level fractals so can’t comment there. Everything else is great. D/D is possibly the most fun character spec in the game. Need to always be concentrating, using doge, placing yourself and constantly switching attunements.

Then definitely not guardian. I quit for 2/3 months after just becoming bored to tears with my guardian. It can be fun in dungeons to just switch off and faceroll through stuff but really it isn’t very satisfying. I see guardian as for people who are still in the mindset of the more old-fashioned, static kind of MMO combat. Again, there’s people who love guardian so it’s all opinion but for me it’s far too limited and lacks options.

The thing is, it seems like most PvE encounters are kind of balanced around the fact that reviving is possible. I mean at the moment most of the temple events would be impossible without reviving downed people (though obviously if it was removed they would just rebalance the fights). I don’t really have a problem with it though in dungeons or open world.

PvP it is a real problem though in my opinion. The amount of small group fights that have been solely decided by who can rez their guys. Simple fix would be to just make damage stop the reviving process in PvP environments.

Problem is, this doesn’t fit with the whole carebear thing Anet has going. Probably best just to accept that this game is designed for casuals/scrubs and either move on or learn to live with it.

New map sounds promising, good to have another game mode. Always liked the orb capturing map in Rift, think it could lead to some good fights. Choosing your own dailies? Well can’t complain about that. So yeah, good stuff. Patches like this and the January one give me some hope for the future of the game to be honest.

Only one that is even a slight hassle for me is the veterans, and that’s just a matter of finding them. Underwater… go to the lake in Queenswood and do in 5 minutes. Healer… go to the pact camp in Timberline… done in 2 minutes. All the rest are very easy and normally are done in an hour or so of normal playing.

I last played around Halloween and I could have sworn it was in the “soon to be released” features back then. Was surprised when I started playing again the other day that it wasn’t there.

Yeah that’s a good point. Been doing it on my D/D ele and getting it done within about an hour or two of the reset, without even trying. Imagine it would be more something you have to remember to do with some other classes.

Why are people surprised that it isn’t everyone’s idea of “fun” to have some childish, weaboo inspired item like this in the game?

Personally, my idea of a pleasing aesthetic is realistic, real-world, medieval inspired items (and that includes all these ridiculous big two-handed hammers and greatswords). Judging by the design choices of a lot of MMOs these days I’m in a minority there.

It is pretty fast; levelling an alt at the moment and gone from 45 to 65 in two days. Don’t really mind though, makes it less of a chore. Only problem is outlevelling zones and that’s hardly the end of the world.

There’s got to be some kind of grind in an MMO or there’s nothing for more hardcore players to do.

Looks pretty good to me, especially like all the Orr changes and fixes to downlevelling. Just came back after 2/3 months not playing and if there’s more patches like this coming I think I’ll be sticking around.

Yeah would like to eventually but stopped playing for the past 2 months so only got a guardian at 80, ele at 40, the rest below 10.

Why do people always ave to exaggerate about how good a computer you need. Can build a PC that will run GW2 at a constant 30/40 fps for no more than 750 Euros, and that’s being generous.

IMO, not at all. Lost interest in this game a couple of months ago and just been checking it out again the past couple of days. In the meantime I have been playing Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and War of the Roses. Both have combat systems that are infinitely better than GW2’s creaky tab-targetting system.

GW2 + War of the Roses combat would have been pure win. As it is it’s just another bland WoW clone.

Great news. Actually renewed my faith in ANet as a developer a bit.

There is clearly room for some kind of orb mechanic but the current implementation adds nothing and the best thing to do was just remove them for now.

Some epic fighting in VS borderland this evening. Been holding AB keep for a good few hours (and still as I type this) against a combined AS/VS attack (not that it seemed they were allying, we have an orb in there and VS wiped out the AS zerg at one point). People listening to chat, grouping up to try and take supply camps and come to reinforce the keep. Good stuff.

So PVE has over 4 times as many maps as pvp and wvw put together. GW2 is a PVE game even anet has said so.

Well more maps means what exactly? (IMO) I don’t think this game (combat style and lack of holy trinity) lends itself to interesting PvE. Everything just turns into DPS spamming, I mean I did each dungeon once for story and haven’t been back, it’s just boring. So if not instances/raiding then what exactly? Roam around zones looking for events? Please. If you want PvE there’s MMOs that do it far better than GW2. On the other hand, those same features that (again, IMO) make this a lacklustre PvE game, make it one of the best for PvP.

The game has been out over 2 months now, that’s plenty of time to get to 80, so it’s not really an issue of people powerlevelling. The problem is there just isn’t enough to do when you get there, without WvW there would be almost no reason to play.

Yeah OP is pretty much correct and I don’t know why there’s so many people replying here getting their panties in a twist because someone dared suggest an MMO needs some form of grind.

It’s all very well saying “this game doesn’t require you to grind” but what is there actually to do at 80, after the 2/3 days it takes you to get BiS gear. Grind for months, with no reward in the meantime, for a legendary? No thanks, I’ll pass on that. There’s nothing to work towards at the moment and you’re kidding yourself if you don’t see that this will be a big problem for the game if it isn’t addressed (having said that, I’m confident that it is something ANet is aware of and is working on).

Maybe it’s just me but the gameplay in this type of hotbar based action game frankly isn’t entertaining enough (like it would in an FPS) to just play with no incentive/reward.

Just one thing about the jumping puzzles… as far as I’m aware they were actually already in game, just added achievements for them.

Well I haven’t bought anything yet but made a couple of gold today selling candy corn and recipes/mats found in personalized trick or treat bags.

Got the Vigil one after choosing them with my main character but just chosen Durmand Priory on an alt (and played a few missions on to make sure) and haven’t got the account medal for it. Am I missing something or is this a bug?

There’s a difference between having nice stuff in them and having a chance at getting something nice. Think of it like lotto tickets. Sure it’s nice that you can win big money but you have a very slim chance of that. .

That’s a good point, and with the current gold>gem ratio in real life it would be like lottery tickets cost $15 or something.

I’d roll back the change in ori nodes so they respawn every 6hrs again. That and bots would help fix the economy and improve the game a lot.

I get keys randomly all the time across all my characters. I’ve had the pleasure of opening 15 to 20 chests so farI’ve never purchased a key.

Yeah everyone gets a certain amount levelling but once you get to 80 you no longer get keys. I’ve got 117 chests in my bank now and counting.

Actually I’m pretty sure you are. As long as it isn’t giving you some kind of in game advantage it is perfectly fine.

First character not at all, could hardly stop playing until I got 80 and enjoyed every minute of it. Struggling to find the motivation to level any alts past 20 though. I want to, want them to play at 80 but just the bit in between… can’t be bothered.

Bumping this suggestion. Small thing that should definitely be in game.
