I’m the ignorant one? Show me the proof that 70% of small guilds are GvG guilds. The GvG community is small compared to all the players that participate in WvW, they shouldn’t be denied a fine update simply due to a style of play that was NEVER meant to be played in WvW.

Ill just go by the servers that I know personally

Aurora glade:
EB full of pugs
spread over the borderlands: TUP, vcy, FIRE, NR, NP, DAWN and a couple of 5 man guilds
all of the above said guilds GvG. they bring about 150 players to the field total, AG doesnt have queues.
This said, there are 2-3 small guilds that do not GvG, the big guilds are diminant in WvW and do GvG so here you could say its more than the said number.

Far shiverpeaks:
+- 50 pugs total mostly on EB
pvx guilds focussed on pve who only WvW 1-3 times a week and do nto gvg: GOT/GOTD and AoA, these guilds are not very active but bring a total of 60 players to the field on active days, they mostly command pugs aswell.
These people play mostly for points.
WvW guilds are punk, kale and DW they bring about 80 players, all of them do GvG aswell and are considered the roaming guilds there.

I’m fairly certain gandara, Gunnars hold, piken square and augury rock have it similar to this, some of the blob servers have roaming guilds aswell which also, oops, happen to GvG
Roamers want good and fair fights, this is why they GvG aswell.

Now stop looking at your server alone and think outside of your blob servers

The above posters seem to be ignorant as hell, these GvG guilds are also 70% of the roaming guilds.
These guilds DO NOT WANT stat boosts on the points they are capuring.

Maybe this has been suggested before, but they NEED to make the buff something that you can claim, either at spawn or at the capture point, until/if ever they make a GvG dedicated game mode. It wouldn’t take anything away from the mechanic, and it would save GvGs. If the buff goes in as stated currently, I don’t see how GvG could continue to exist at all.

The point is, they want GvG dead, so dont bother bringing that up, every time GvG is mentioned they will kill a kitten and make all witnesses disapear

The whole point we are trying to make is that they implemented stat bonusses to the side with most coverage before and it was very very bad (I myself quit WvW because of this during that time untill 3-4 months ago)
It will make the winning side stronger, and the points wont work like they hope they will, not on lower tier servers where population and coverage is an issue,
These servers will get rolled over even harder, even more with the people migrating to winning servers with the upcoming leagues

Anyway I fully agree what this poster says, he does not have the amounts of people reading this thread as mine but the votes up I had shows that many people agree with him.

The idea is good, even the point on stomp but the stat buff destroys anything that this would create. the players want to fight and roam but they do not want to roll over players when they do this. Or fight players that are a lot stronger.

This also affects the stronger server greatly as proven by the old orb buff. With the upcoming seasons this will mean the population differences will be even bigger as people will move to winning servers the buff will most likely always be on a winning server which is full of queues.

In a GvG league it should be quite easy to organise orb buff distribution so that each server has one buff , with a few small roaming packs to make sure pugs don’t take them during GvG hours.

This will be hard considering there are servers like FSP who only play to win and not fights, same for the german servers if youre on silver.
Most guilds will want to do normal roaming aswell, making all of it complicated unless you can get about 50 guilds to join in this (which is even harder)

I think we should start making a list of how many more players each server in mid league can can field and what guilds are up for moving there, and possibly the same for the bottom if youre really stubborn :p
but these lists may change during this month
If we do this we should balance all the current servers as much as possible to avoid queues and also make that the US people transfering have proper numbers to fight when they dont gvg off our primetime.
Even more, you need a reason for them to come, make some challenge or make each season a gvg season which decides the current winner. Make sure they can do what they want to do (Roam/kill zergs)

edit here : if it starts oct 4th, you should make sure everything is done in proper time so people dont go all rando mor that it gets canceled for people staying where they are because of certain guilds staying

That said, you also have many DE and FR GvG guilds that can fill the german and fr servers aswell.

Huh? This is not temp content. This in character with any number of rewards that are about showing off what happened recently. You will be showing off that you won the previous season, but once a new season starts everyone is back to start. Having the reward for a limited period of time is very different from temp content.

Will these seasons keep happening after one is finished or is it a one time event every few months?

Thats about 5-6 guilds for you right there, these guilds will be on the #1 league of EU fighting eachother if the move doesnt happen anyway (except for fury being on GH)
Also saying that is against the argument used of “GvG guilds are the main WvW guilds that are the backbone of the WvW comunity”
For that reason many guilds wont move and theres only a few guilds dedicated to moving like that to create the perfect gvg system, for that you need a way to get those WvW+GvG guilds to come with you. Moving isnt as easy for some guilds as it is for others.

Edit:
Do not forget that you need atleast 1-1.5K eu players to move to the last league to have it give active fights, more if some guilds dont play every day. The servers would be boring as hell to be on if you could only get a few guilds to transfer, where its 100x easier to populate the mid league (yes there is more than enough space for everyone)

We’re not missing the point don’t worry.
It’s more that mid tier has everything you could want, especially if you fill up the lower servers in that league.
If the guilds on mid tier were to leave they would be more empty than the lower tiers, there would most likely be no difference talking mainyl AG, gandara, GH and possibly BB here. All servers here have space for 1-6 joining them resulting in constant fighting which there already is, even more spaces if na were to join in.

The point I’m making is that some servers have a proper comunity built up and destroying that would only screw over WvW as a whole and put the people who want GvG in a bad position.
Mid tier also gives the posibility of new guilds joining up. Not to mention not everyone wants to play full focus all the time.
Lower league servers play for ptt just as much as any other, they just dont have the players to do so properly
Pugs will come transfer over once guilds go there aswell, shown by how FSP, RoS and WSR have fallen down.

I agree with Ragnar there, but it would be great if this could be done

Enjoy fighting vabbi, whiteside, blacktide, FoW, they dont have the pugs to fight, some of these servers are happy the way they are low pop and dont have to handle zergs, which will then come in the form of 30-40 man guild groups, it would destroy their little comunity in the process.
You need the pugs to strenghten your guild and keep up the fun when fighting against them and playing off primetime.

Not to mention a lot of guilds want to fight big numbers when they feel like it, people who are highest tier will probably stay there tbh

If you go for a league you should take one with stuff to kill outside of GvGs
I’m sure many guilds want to be able to do normal raids aswell

As Slomo pointed out, play for fun, play to learn and dont avoid fights because you dont have your core or are afraid of losing. Playing for rating is the most stupid bs you can think of, if for example TUP played for rating we wouldnt have tried new stuff on GD (no necros online too strong)
missing a few people isnt going to make you lose a game and your recruits will stay the way they are.

GvG or don’t GvG dont go like omg we need to scrim, just fight and you can fight again next time. You win or lose, backing off or saying maybe we miss core members just shows you are weaker or afraid.

After i start watching this stream i got a little hope that something will change, and at least we will get some nice info, but after 2 min of stream i lost my hope. AN thinks that abilities on WvW are great, and trying to make them use by players. New orb will completly destroy GvG, and still like half of year till this orb. This is kinda pathetic.

Im playing WvW for 9 months now, AND ONLY WVW. I dont play PvE,sPvP – im more mass pvp player. Im just sad that AN is ignoring hardcore guilds – which they are making fun on your WvW. Most of people here, runing randomly on zombie zergs 1h per 3 days – so yeah, for that kind of ppl WvW is some kind of fun. I was expecting from today livestream something more, insted of listening how COOL abilities are, when they are not.

I said that on other topic. Im still here, cuz of my guild – nothing more, nothing less. Im pretty sure, that on new game with mass pvp + GvG system, borders on GW2 will be empty.

Was said also, Dev today ignored people – that pretty much how AN care about WvW players.

I was watching the stream and the chat was incredibly hostile. I don’t blame the devs for showing cautious indifference when a segment of the game community is acting that way. A lot of players are calling for blood and then wonder why they are getting responses or demands met…

As I said in the same post the guy was refering to,
It’s a snowball effect, arenanet has ignored the WvW comunity for ages and still does.
When a comunity gets ignored they get upset, when they get ignored even more or punched in the face by comments against the hardcore players who are the core of most servers, then they can’t expect any other treatment than this.
It’s a cycle they have started with bad comunication and it can still be fixed by saying the current guild roaming,defending and gvg comunity (they are different) exist and are approved of.
Which they don’t.
This however does not make negative spam on a stream a good thing to do…

Anyway I hope this is going to be a good change even though the buffs will be screwing over the gvg scene a bit.
If the buff is a stat boost it also nullifies the element these objectives give, smaller scale pvp
If it’s a buff that increases rewards on kills, yes please!

We take my old server in WvW
Far shiverpeaks, it’s a pve server with low wvw population.
With your posts, spam and blaming you are insulting 4 of their guilds which equals about 80 active people for 4-5 hours a day, more if you include the ones who play off peak hours.
Far shiverpeaks has barely enough players to fill EB meaning you’re insulting half their active playerbase in WvW.
Earlier you made a comment that you wouldve banned all these players instantly, again ignorant.
Fsp has 2-3 guilds who play 2 days a week, they bring a total of 50 players spread over those 2 days. they do not play GvG but they dont insult them or blame them for losing objectives.

Let’s asume youre from Piken, Piken has 11 guilds who gvg on there (I asume all but rg are active, from the guilds that are listed)
These guilds most likely run 20 players on average during prime time

So now comes the hard part for you sir 11×20 = 220 players.
Now I asume the player cap on each map is about 80 and these guilds most likely wont go to EB due to the queue. so they take 220 of the 240 slots.
Please tell me how GvG ruins WvW when piken is 5th place. And tell me how these guilds should be denied their GvGs when they obviously pretty much are the entire server comunity.
Now on lower tiers this is the same, except there is no queue on the map where they GvG, and this map is also not any of these guilds side so there is 0 impact.

Can’t agree more with the posters above me.
Yesterday I had a chat with a friend about the issues concerning comunicating and listening to the right ideas by game developers in some games and the impact it has.
Many games and game developpers have failed or got a really bad reputation because of a lack of the above. Once it starts it will onyl snowball into a more depressing state where the forums are full of negativity.
It would be ashame to see this game fall deeper.

To Shoe, the blob will just run over the buff and leave a few people behind people will have to defend it. Which will then be defended untill another zerg will pass, if it’s a system that works like that.
The zerg will most likely be needed aswell if the buff is a stat buff like the old one due to the defending party being a lot stronger.
In that case it will only promote zerging and skilless play on top of destroying roaming and group play. (not to mention gvgs being screwed over)

I personally hope it will only be affecting the point tick, siege damage or wxp but not player stats.

This guy was also yelling on teamchat that people doing GvGs should go away because they should cap stuff.

You guy interrupted the GvGs of other peopel in the process, making it obvious that you are wrong, dont try to talk yourself out of this becausey ou were there laughing when we got mad at Lion

Give us some proper matchups, put limits on this system if yo uwant it randomized.
