As a former GW1 player a member of one of top 50 4×4 teams back in GW1 i can say i hate pvp in GW2.

Yes i spend 20 or 25 minutes from time to time doing sPvP but only to kill some time or help someone test his build ir something like that. First month or so i was participating in spvp much but it clearly holds nothing competitive to it. Just a zerg with 2 broken classes which pretty much still dominates all games , no variaty of viable builds and generally nothing to work on.

As about WvWvW it has potential it just need some tweaking. I dont enjoy going solo and just following zergs cause its pretty pointless too but then my guild runs WvW nights its always fun to do some stealth missions with 5-10 ppl.

I find many people who complains about doing JP’s or even Vistas on Charrs but i dont find that so hard. Yes its harder than on smaller races but its not impossible either and atleast for me satisfaction of doing hardest JP’s in hardest possible way ( using Charr ) brings in bigger feeling of personal reward.

Well enjoy it till it last. This game does very good first impression. I remember first few days of gw2 myself i was completely amazed by this game.

Sadly the more you play and start to figure out things this ‘wow’ feeling is soon to be gone. Almost every aspect of game isint working as it is supposed and is haunted by bugs which Anet chooses to ignore releasing some useless ‘new’ content.

Class balance is terrible .. i mean this game has no balance at all. While its not so terrible in pve , forget about any pvp at all. Its ridiculous.

And i could ontinue this list until tommorow i believe but i guess you will soon figure out everything yourself… just saying that by running away from wolf you most likely jumped on a bear.

So , as the title says.

After last major patch i started getting errors. “gw2.exe stopped working bla bla bla” which has never happend before January 28th patch. Also i have lower fps and loading times increased significantly.

Im not sure what or why are you doing there Anet but please dont.

Games like neverwinter nights and elder scrools are offline games and they should stay this way.. all this ‘online’ mania is ridiculous and will drag whole franchise down.

It’s displaying the daileys based on your system time, but the server actually hands out credit for completing them. So you need to your system time to the correct time. (It’s probably set for the wrong date.)

The dailies change each day and are on a set cycle. My guess is that they’ve loaded the entire SET for the WEEK into the client already, so they don’t have to manually update the achievements each day. Messing with your system clock (which is what your client uses to display the time) probably confuses the client into displaying the WRONG dailies. You can’t progress those dailies because the server has its own clock and know to give achievements based on that clock.

So basically they failed.. again

Not really…more like the players who haven’t managed to set the right date on their PCs failed.

This thread is such a nonsense. You ppl want to be healy,tanky and deal massive dmg at once? Fair enough , i want space ship from which i could shoot people in spvp.. whateveer.

Im not sure why this only came up to me now ,after playing ranger for more than a month but … so we have ‘lick the wounds’ skill in downed state . Its ok then you have mammal who can actually lick but how about scorpions,spiders,sharks.. with what they ‘lick’ your wounds ?:D

I love my ranger. Played over 300h on him and still i find it fun.

Yes you need to work twice as hard to get same result as lets say warrior but thats why game is full of warriors and most them suck because it attracts people who looks for easiest solution.

Im not saying i dont see flaws . I see many and i hope AgreedyNet is working on them.

Ofc if you like to go in , push 3 buttons and win , ranger isint for you and thats why people ‘hate’ it. But only morons and shortsighted people does. Maybe im lucky with my server but i receive 0 hate on my ranger. Im viable part in any pve or pvp activity.\

You can always come to wvw and run from zergs

Its not ranger who offers nothing in wvw , its you who offer nothing to ranger.

Traps. Use them in small passages, near gates or entrances. Put some in the way if you see some of your troops chased by large zerg group , you will save many lifes.

Shortbow. Perfect for openfield zergs . Cutting down fleeing enemies with bleeds in their kitten and stun/slow.

Longbow. I dont even think i need to talk about it , its perfect wvw weapon. Both for defending structures and attacking them. Stand in tower and rain arrows on enemy troops, while #5 is on cd pick out single targets by your long range. Even if they run away its 1 enemy less to defend gates against. While attacking clean walls from enemy defenders. In addition if u see huge group moving you can distract them and give your team more time to prefer for defenses. Some or even half of enemy troops will start to chase you, run away.

GS . #3 gives you significant way to save ur kitten I escaped many zergs by swooping away.

Horn . All team benefits from ur #5

Pet. Send him to ressurect fallen comrades without leaving your defensive spot.

Its players who are bad, not classes.

I use cat/spider combo.

Spider for immobilize and/or poison and cats for knockdowns or chills.

I’ve i guess every single dungeon every single path on my ranger i cant say i have failed. I surivive longer than guardians and do more dmg than warriors . Just know your place and your role and you ’ll be fine with any class.

Last few rounds we lack good lead and any sense of teamwork in SFR. Our own borderland is always full but it seems that 50% of people are afk or mines the ore or something. In all key battles yesterday evening we were outnumbered.

I will just second that you just pick race/class combination which seems appropriate and promising for you We have no good or bad classes in this game.

The toxic community has largely been created by anets own actions. The ascended gear fiasco, the karka event, DR, fractals, now aoe nerf, the list goes on. The toxicity only reached the level it has after these were all botched up by anet. A lot of it from GW1 players who feel betrayed.

The ‘toxic community’ is really caused by conspiracy theorists that shout loud and long about what they see as a ‘rip-off’ when no such thing is actually occurring. They log in, scream that they’re not getting their way, and leave in a huff when nobody takes them seriously.

For cryin’ out loud, this game is only six months old! The sky, Chicken Little, is _not _ falling.

Erm i believe 6 months argument isint valid here entirely. It is excuse for lets say bugs or some incompletion in game but not for the fact they released completely different game than they announced. Thats a lie which has nothing to do with age of game.

• No Grind ( i grind every day to support my gold needs for wvwvw )
• Personal Storyline ( yes for first 30 levels its personal )
• Your dessicions makes difference ( no they dont , i just push random answers )

… and i could continue this list long long ahead. What route they took is main concern for so called ‘toxic community’ and not route itself but the lie that they wouldnt. If this would be announced as grindy game with horrible pvp system i wouldnt even waste my money on it.

I really doubt they will touch current achievments. They might rework ways to get them but if u are done with JP you sill will be done with it .

I do like steampunk elements in game.

To concern why do charrs run with swords while they have tanks ..well.. this is game. You can set wooden carts to bleed and poison them so bashing tank with axe isint such a preposterous idea.

Also it is more likely for some races to evolve beyond others than all of them to evolve same. You have Asuras which lived underground and their technological proggression was seperated from rest of the world and we have Norn which more or less are still savages. You can see similarities to real world , even in 21st century.

Im unhappy with many things in gw2 but atleast world conception isint one of them. I really do love how they sorted current state of technology and progress in game.

I doubt thats the thing to consider. D3 sold out huge amount of copies also thou its completely crappy game.

On the other hand they say that player base is slowly but steady growing up.. is that true, hard to say. They wont announce rapid drop in player database for sure if one would take a place. That would only create snowball effect for them.

So whats up with that? Its especially annoying in Plains of Ashford and Diessa Plateu. Submarine event,Seperatists trebuches event and many more get stuck every day preventing people from gaining enough experience to leave the zone at right level.

Just today i was about to complete Diessa Plateu on my Alt then i realised icant get to last skill point because of stuck event which should open that fire portal thing. Strike Squad just stood outside in field without even considering going into flame legion keep.

Sadly they were working fine month or two ago.

It also makes no sense. They are risen from dead, fairly rotten also. Running at those speeds all their joints would fail in moments and they would fall apart.

But oh well, we have been ‘aneted’ as always.

But we should give Anet some credit i think. To think of ways to make game even worse than it currently is takes some skills , ill give you that.

Its all about preferences. I’ve tried every single class in game until i came to Ranger(was my last choise because i rarely play ranged classes ) and i was about to quit gw2 because any of them wasnt interesting to play but ranged got me playing again and im still in game.

I even got several classes to lvl 80 and dropped then instantly because.. i dont know, i have tendency to drop things i guess. But on ranged i worked my way out with full exotics,ascendent and such.

Warrior,Guardian,Thief is really way more boring than Ranger can ever be and i tried them all , one of them to lvl 80 also.

Also as ranger you cant rely on one weapon set. Switching beetwen SB and GS for me is constant in PVE, PvP SB/Axe+Warhon and WvWvW SB/LG .

Ranger has way more to offer than eye meets first.

Ehehe. Level scalling is one of those rare things Anet actually nailed in this game and still people complains about it.

Its strange ( and good ) how isint this topic locked yet. Anet deletes or locks any valid topic people rise against them because its just easier to pretend its not there than to actually do something about it.

But i can only agree, orr should be something from capital s but is nothing from capital n. Its endless frustation. No its not hard, its frustating. Any effort you put in it its rewardless.

Today i finished orr exploration and im so relieved i wont have to visit that kitten place again.

Didint even bother to read actually. Yes ranger needs tweeking but generally its very good class for pvp. 8/10 matches im Top player in game playing my ranger.

My solution is Elite skill which roots enemies into the ground. If you use it before mesmer can spam his clones not only he will stay still you will know where he is because his clones wont be rooted into the ground.

Since most of mesmers go GS time for which mesmer is rooted down is enough to burst him down.

They dont fix anything.

And in the end its all about how you play . Ranger or warrior or whatever is just a tool for a player.

Personally i run 10/30/30/0/0 build for sPvP with short bow/axe+horn and kick kitten at it. Im doing way better than i was doing on my D/D ele ( not saying they are bad,they are very strong ) but it only proves that much depends on you as a player.

You may view warrior as a meele comabatant with option of ranged and ranger as ranged fighter with an option with meele but you can play both any way and be effective.

So in the end its up to you, what you enjoy more.

Rangers are pretty fine at the moment. QQers will QQ.

Well i just started playing ranger and most likely havent been in all possible situations but so far my pets in PvE ( excluding Dungeons ) are very great asset. All i need to do is send in my Pig and he soaks up all damage , meanwhile i kill half of camp.

No way to force people buy germs for pvp = no attention to pvp.

Nothing to compare actually. GW1 was a atomic bomb and this is just meh.. firecracker at best.

Story rewards are joke in general. You keep getting stuff you cant even use by your class.. whats the point?

No and No. Fix and balance current classes then make new bug bags.

One tip. Dont surf around forums trying to find ’ best class ’ Pick one fitting you and even if you pick wrong several times its easy to catch on in GW2.

Ele is one of the easiest classes to play.
Skill ceiling is high for classes that need to rely reflexes, positioning and timing or particular setup mechanics; Ele has almost nothing of this.
Regardless if the average MMO baddie believes # of button equals skill ceiling, Ele is probably the second easiest class (Ranger takes first by far).
My little nephew plays an Ele very good, and fails to understand other classes because they are not as straight-forward and simple.
Worry not about Ele difficulty OP, class is pretty easy to play so far.

From a WvW perspective, I have to agree with Red Falcon, D/D Ele is one of the easiest classes to play, especially healing/tank builds, but all D/D builds are nonetheless. Staff Ele on the other hand is a little harder to master to actually feel effective and work with your group, I mean small skirmishes not sieging. If you watch some of the posted D/D Ele videos you will see they miss half their fire grabs, burning speed, and so on, but so what, they just switch to the next attunement and carry on, if they get low they run away, this is all the same for any Ele, not picking on them. This is something you can’t do with many other classes. If you miss one of your main attacks you can’t just swap to another 3 sets. With the ability to constantly move back and forth the D/D Ele does not need to worry about positioning as much as most classes. I do agree however, that once you play Ele all the other classes seem fairly boring. I have played ele since beta and do use D/D for WvW and am no different then what I have described. On a side note let’s be honest, the easiest way to win a 1v1 in WvW is to be the person countering and not initiating, especially against another D/D Ele, unless you catch said person by surprise.

Different elements are for different things and if you screw one of them not only you miss out your combo , you also miss out 1/4 of your pottential utility. And those ~10 secs for attun to recharge is lots of time if you are bursted by 2 thieves.

Human. Even thou my favorites are charrs and norns but somehow only viable choise at the time seemed to be human. Charrs and Norns looks more heavish for me , Asura just doesnt look sirious enough and Sylvari… never!

So I wanna try out an ele for wvw, and I know people always say a staff ele is good in wvw for walls and aoes, but I remember watching his guy on YouTube that was a staff ele taking on pretty large groups with a staff. I never see this, ever only dd eles nowadays, my question is, is it possible to still play an ele like that or was it something more possible during beta?

Your question is like ’ can i run 5km distance ? ’ .. well if you want and you will train for that you can do almost anything.

Staff is more for suppotish purposes and AoE. Im D/D Ele thou didint do any WvWvW yet sirious , it is possible i will use staff since you can do way more with staff in those zergy situations.
