Love this idea. ANet however gotta balance the scaling or make it so that low level players do not need to pay repair costs too much or they’ll lose interest in GW2. I agree, we need a town/city event to show new players that GW2 is a living breathing world which requires everyone to work together to secure a safe haven.

Guild Commendations

FateZero.8536

You only get 2 commendations per guild mission per week except Guild Trek mission as that mission doesn’t award commendations. Guild Mission rewards resets the same time as WvW scores.

Trek doesn’t award commendations? Why? First we are forced to even upgrade that to move on, on top of that it has no personal incentives for other guildies to actually do it.

No idea man. It seems weird to me too but that’s what Dulfy wrote. Guild still do it for the extra Guild Merits.

My guild just did him two days ago and we had only 2 person assigned to find each bounty. We found him without an issue. Also, he has a buff similar to half-baked komali. It looks like a jug of ale icon that significantly reduced the damage he takes. You just gotta look every single inch of the map.

FateZero.8536

How about some bounties hiding in cities like Divinity Reach or Lion’s Arch? It’ll be a good place for new players to learn how exciting a guild is and of course for easy recruitment during guild mission.

anyway. Also, we intend to add a few more that play “hide and seek” like Westward and Sotzz. Sotzz has 300 different places he can appear in Gendarren Fields.

These two were pretty hard, especially given that random people can kill the Karka even if its not activated.
We had to give up on Sotzz, and alot of guilds on our server didn’t find him either. Someone said he bugged cause their guild couldn’t kill him, and he de-spawned.

We killed Sotzz just fine two days ago. He has some buff that significantly reduces the damage he receives. The buff icon looks like a jug of ale.

Guesting and Overflow [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

FateZero.8536

To educate myself. What is the big deal/difference if you do it in your home server or in overflow? Leaving out the obvious, you didn’t do it on your home server, but what else is different? For all the complaining there must be something more. So far I haven’t noticed no real difference playing in either. I get proper credit, same loot etc.

This may not all have to do with guesting either. I’m on a server that isn’t one that is well known here where people flock to and we now have overflows on standard zones. What looks to have happened, is we are now seeing how many people were pent up in fractals for several months because of better loot there, now they see better loot in the open world and the turtle boys are now back outside again, so those players are now in zones vs fractal instances. Boom overflow.

There is no doubt a large base of players will go where the best loot can be had with minimal time. The next Anet trick is to figure out how to balance the perception that loot/time is equal in all phases of the game. Then at that time you can see what content people like vs another. Every mmo struggles with this, even 5+ years in.

You definitely need more education. Overflow event timers aren’t the same as the actual map. You expect players to wait there indefinitely for an event to spawn? Get real. Guesters who are here just for the fast event loot should just gtfo.

Limit the world chest to 1 per day per character regardless of server. Boom, solved because people won’t go guest to kill a world boss if they get no loot for it. This makes it so people only guest to play with their friends on other servers and not doing it just for the loot.

I’m pretty sure they already did that. It was possible for like a day or two and then they took it out.

Yet that seems to be the best solution.

I’m lost now. How can it be the best solution if it’s already implemented and didn’t work?

I was wondering the same thing and wondering is everyone playing the same game, lol.

Because you can’t get 30+ Heavy Miner’s Bag from dragon which sells for 2 silvers each and also you can’t get 10+ powerful blood from dragon which sells for close to 20 silvers each. Dredge, Grawl, and Uncategorized fractals ftw. Also, I get 5-8 rares and many green/blues from Ascalonian fractal, beats camping and lagging at dragon for 1 guaranteed rare. That beats dragons anytime.

This isn’t actual news, it is something we have mentioned multiple times before. As the original interview says, and I quote:
“Expansions are definitely something that we’ll potentially look at in the future,” he explained. “We don’t have a timetable on it. We’re open to it, but I think our major focus as a studio is making the living world concept as strong as possibly can for the players that we’ve got.”

No one said we will never do an expansion, all Colin says (again) is that we are currently focusing on Living Story and other ongoing to the live game.

No worries man, I love Guild Wars 2 and it’s really the best MMO I’ve played thus far. However, someone needs to look into the World Event lag issues and overflow.

@spyder-Yeah I see what your saying but idk It just feels like each zone is nothing more than a check list to me now there is no real interesting story or anything like that you would get from doing a quest line in the zone like you would in other games. But im not for getting rid of the current system I would just add to it.

Nothing is more of a checklist than traditional quest logs. So nope, not supporting this motion. Guild Wars 2 is fine as it is. Quest logs is as good as a list of chores.

I remember playing Cabal Online and taking a quest which says Giant Spiders are disturbing townsfolk but as obvious as it is, the town is as peaceful as always and I have to kill 30 Giant Spiders. When I went out there, the Giant Spiders were just idling around in their spawn location. Boring!

1 mistake TS. Currently guesting isn’t used to play with friends as much as it is used for faster events. Also, to avoid accusation, ANet should produce some data as to how many guest visits per server each day.

We’re all based on assumptions here. The people who blames it on guesters and the people who defend guesters, it’s all assumptions for now.

If guilds arent lying about being able to unlock puzzles, then it requires investigation.

Thanks for the info about reset though.

FateZero.8536

Like I’ve said in other threads. Guesting was implemented to allow players to play with their friends on other server and not for doing an event faster. So it should require an invite from a friend. If you do not have a friend on that server then there’s no reason for you to be there, as you have the exact same events back at your home server. Not enough people? ANet has something called Dynamic Scaling.

From my understanding you get 2 commendations per tier once a week. So far my guilds only done bounty missions tier 1 and tier 2 and I have 4 commendations. So with 3 tiers of bounty, I assume you can get 6 commendations from that each week. Not sure about the other guild missions though.

Also, I don’t think it’s daily. I have participated in two tier 1 bounties on two separate days and only received the reward the first time.

Thanks man! I am searching for this answer all day but does anyone know is it per character or per account? If I use other alt toons, will I get the rewards again?

Dont leech. Zone to the event zone earlier. As for guild missions: NPC from guild bounties are also on overflows. Party members can join overflow. Both arguments invalid.

As far as I know, nobody truly leeches in JQ server, we all zone in even before the pre-event starts and we do it together. However, recently we aren’t able to do the same due to noticeable surge in players which guilds and names are unfamiliar to us, residents. Futhermore, some of them admittedly state they are from other servers. We can see who are the real leechers and campers.

No, no it doesn’t pose a problem for guild missions. Unless your guild is so inconsiderate they start missions without all their people present? I can’t imagine the queue being longer than 5 minutes or anything at all like they are for wv3.

So the real problem here is that you just don’t know how to get to places where you need to be on time and not with guesting.

Why would you say we start a mission without our people around? All of us could be ready just that some of us might be in overflow. Not everyone is as free as you to idle around all day waiting

Err…that’s what I’m saying. Why would your guild start the event when people are sitting in overflow? Seems like the problem is with your guild and not guesting or overflow.

If you cared to read, I’ve stated that not everyone has the luxury of time waiting for member stuck in overflow due to overflowing guests which in the first place shouldn’t occur.

So your time is more important than everyone elses. Gotcha. I may have misread your post but one thing I’ve never done is think my time is worth more than another persons.

Anet cannot and won’t give priority to anyone over anyone else. It will cause far more complaints than the few people on here are complaining about guesting now.

You’re just twisting my words to your liking. You very well understood what I meant and I meant that not everyone has the luxury of waiting for an uncertain amount of time. Who knows when the members are able to get out of overflow. Either you’re deliberately twisting my words or your comprehension is really terrible. I hope it’s the former as I’ve tried to word it as simple as possible.

So I definitely think that the proper guesting procedure is to have an invitation by a friend to guest their server. Funny, guesting was here to solve people have issues with playing with friend and people having issues with completing events because of lack of people. Now people are complaining “go back to your own server, ours is good now”. For the majority, it probably has to do with more people doing these events because they’re actually worth it now and guesting is just a minute part of it.

Guesting is fine as it is, if they want to apply any sort of fix, limit guesting to 1 server or two servers at longer duration though in my opinion, it’s working fine as it is.

By the way, you know what’s funny, Anet isn’t going to nerf guesting because of you kittens complaining. What you’ll see in future patch notes is if you guys keep this up “World boss chest loot adjusted”. Everyone loses.

Also, the REAL reason to this complaint is kittens going to the event few minutes before it’s over. If you went to an event well before the time it spawn, even if you hit a overflow, you should have no problem leaving it.

Funny thing is people aren’t using it to play with their friends but instead using it to get 3 world event chests per character. These are called leechers. We as residents of our own server should have the privilege of going into any map at any point in time without having to queue in overflow. So what if we want to enter last minute?

I agree, ANet should remove chest loot while guesting. Since you know, guesting was meant for players to play with friends and that’s most important, not the loots

So basically you want to go to an event last minute to get an easy chest and have priority over someone who has been there the entire time? Are we getting to the bottom of this now?

Talk about leeching.

It’s my home server , what’s the problem? That’s why we have website that tracks the spawn times of world events, so we could be there the moment the pre-event starts. I use my time representing my server in WvW and only come out for dungeons and world events. I don’t see a problem with that. I don’t sit in a map idling around doing nothing. Perhaps you do not participate in WvW and only sits around camping for events but I’m sorry, that’s not how I spent my time playing GW2

Congratulations to you. But I still don’t see why you think you deserve priority queue over someone who has been there longer than you. Home server or no.

First come first serve, and all that.

Yea you know, because someone enters your house earlier than you and lock you out because you fail to reach earlier. Totally no problem at all.

If your home server is dead then it’s too bad, but don’t go around denying other players their rights in their own server. Practice consideration and like what most people said, try not to guest high population servers. Go fill in other moderate population servers. It’ll help reduce the overflow issue and also the lag. Try not to be a prick. There’s a fine line between being a prick and being someone respectable.

How about no? I honestly don’t see a problem here. It’s just people who want to show up in the last 2 minutes of a dragon event and have a priority over those that have been there the entire time so they can hit a few mobs to get their gold medal and chest and be on there way.

If you were so concerned about it, you’d show up a little earlier to those events (you admitted you use the dragon timers) and be through the queue when it starters. And nothing is stopping you from going to a different server. After all you have the timers, and I honestly doubt even the lowest pop server has trouble fielding people for dragon events, especially now.

Everything is working as intended. And your analogy completely fails since it’s all public.

Wow, you really have a thick skin don’t you? From your replies I can assume you’re a guester and being a really inconsiderate one too, reason being you’re asking the residents of the server you’re guesting to fk off to other server. Also I bet u’re guesting for the sole purpose of faster world event boss kill because your server is either dead PVE wise or just doesn’t give a fk. Save yourself a little dignity and be considerate while u’re in other people’s server.

I’m sorry but ANet will surely see this as an issue as it is always residents > guests and guesting is implemented to play with friends, not to inconvenient residents of other servers. I like what someone suggested in the other thread. Guesting to require an invite by a resident of a particular server.

Perhaps you do not participate in WvW and only sits around camping for events but I’m sorry, that’s not how I spent my time playing GW2.

Hmm, I don’t know where you guys are getting the idea that it’s 3 chest per toon. I just went and checked whether this was true with frozen maw, did it on my home server then went to do it on another, no chest. It’s safe to say, the chest is char bound and not server-character bound. Only takes a little time to check these things really.

I’m sorry, but I do not practice leeching off other servers. I do not do things which I dislike to others. However, seems like majority of the guests who came to my server have the idea that they could get 3 chest per character. Funny enough, we only face these overflow issue in popular world event maps like Frostgorge, Sparkfly, and Blazeridge. I doubt that they are here to “play with friends”.

I’ve been denied of my home server chests for 2 days now. These guests seems to camp here and not leaving the server unless they want to WvW. This obviously poses a whole new issue called: PVE guest server camping.

I was going to start a new thread regarding this. Those guests are becoming Permanent Residents. They stay in our server whenever they aren’t participating in WvW and thus hindering us residents of the server unable to participate with events such as World Event when it spawns.

Residents should be given priority and guests should be placed into overflow whenever a resident joins a full map.
