The Zerg was just terribad. Didn’t dared to advance despite having outnumbered the 4. I don’t believe the zergs do not have stability or reflect skills. They could easily dodge or ran past the meteors to kill off the 4 but they didn’t.
Elongating the fight is probably what ANet wants to achieve. Lazy way to implement a challenge.
Lol, to the guys who says the 4 and AoE in the video is imbalance then I suggest you learn to play better. That’s called teamwork, communication and strategy. Using terrain to good use. That’s what WvW is supposed to be, using terrain to advantage. If not, might as well just design a map with flat land. Those zergs are just plain stupid and think they are Spartans. Rushing into a region without first scouting is fail.
AoE nerf is basically nerfing Ele. There are no other class that is as reliant on AoE as Ele. Why don’t give us a greatsword instead, remove staff from game. Problem solved. Nerfing is never the way to go. Thief does insane amount of single target burst damage and ANet still wants to nerf AoE. Joke. Clearly they aren’t monitoring and studying their game close enough.
Engi–oh wait Engineer lost the worthwhile damage of Grenades and now they’re going to be nerfed again.
I mourn for our Elementalist brethren.
Because everybody is complaining about how super OP the Elementalist is in WvW amirite?
ANet is walking the D3 path. Nerfing things instead of buffing/change other less used skills. Nerfing isn’t the way to go, it kills the game and also the player’s hardwork in building their toons with specific equipments which isn’t cheap. I know Ele aren’t the only ones affected, necros are affected as well. This is a really bad decision by ANet.
They expect everyone to use single target spells when we’re fighting against a large group in WvW? Isn’t it common sense to use AoE to prevent enemies rezzing their allies?
I agree. Nerfing isn’t the way to balance things. That’s how D3 died and turned so many loyal D1&2 fans to anti-D3 haters. AoE is barely overused or overpowered, cooldown is slow and people could easily avoid it. It’s those thief burst damage that you guys should look into. Stop nerfing the already weak class!
Thief needs rebalancing due to their 1shot burst damage. Ele needs more builds, was happy when I read that they might consider allowing Ele using greatsword. Engineer needs more builds too. Guardian need more unique skills not some same skill with different animation.

Nerfing reminds me of D3 developers where the answer to everything is to nerf drops, destructible to hero skills.

Yea, whenever I open the world map. I am always thinking when will we be able to explore the unopened parts of the map. Also when will we face the other elder dragons other than Jormag in Frostgorge and Zhaitan in story quest.
This thread is actually a hidden rant about Ascended Items, not about how to attract players back to the game. Three out of the four points is about Ascended/Fractals. Try harder next time.
Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I think that’s just part of their marketing. ANet always get’s really talkative if a new event or update is ready to be released, and disappears into their coding lairs as soon as the news have settled. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying that you shouldn’t expect them to stay this communicative all the time.
ANet is acceptable. Unlike the devs of D3. I think it’s almost a year since they were talking about PvP and it’s not even out yet. Lol!!
Stormbluff Isle is active in WvW. I see lots of players in beginner and mid level maps too. However, I think Straits of Devastation is current dead =/ Lion’s Arch being the most lively outside WvW.
I usually handle thief with AoE bind > apply condition dmg > AoE slow > more condition dmg > Pushback > condition dmg > Stun > condition dmg them to oblivion with my ele. They couldn’t even catch up to me, lol.
Furthermore, if an ele spec their utilities and traits right they could negate 6 attacks, stability for 12 seconds and still teleport away.
aoe can be bypassed, staff ele can be focused and annihilated. staff ele can be seen.
well played thieves are pretty broken in wvw, even without culling
FYI, our ele AoE slow casts instantly and I doubt most thief could escape our AoE bind if they are close.

I read that entire thing and didn’t understand what you were complaining about, is it that you want more skills?
Nope, OP wants GW2 to be like all other MMO. Clearly, he didn’t learn about the game he was buying and he couldn’t get used to GW2 because he spent 10 years+ playing other MMO. He says it right here:
But what about mmo players who have been used to this type of interaction for literally a decade ? What about people who have spent so many hours in the last 10 years of mmos that they already found all the secrets of their Guild Wars 2 character barely at level 20 ?
OP, I suggest less drama and more direct and clear points. At fight glance I thought you wanted Virtual Reality interaction.

The Dirty Dozen:
1) Would you prefer ascended gear to be the last tier implemented for the remainder of GW2?
2) Would you prefer ascended gear to be equal to exotic gear in all statistics except agony resistance?
3) Would you prefer the level cap to remain at 80 for the remainder of GW2?
4) Would you prefer if WvW was set up on an equal playing field similar to PvP?
5) Would you prefer if WvW / PvP / PvE had separate skill functionalities?
6) Would you prefer if Magic Find was removed from the game completely?
7) Would you prefer if Magic Find was divided equally amongst all party members?
8) Is GW2 too ‘Grindy?’
9) Does GW2 need less RNG?
10) Has the Trading Post [and all its users/farmers] positively impacted the economy?
11) Do you have as much faith [and/or enthusiasm] about the game [and/or company] as you did before launch?

It is to prevent high level bullies going to low level area to kill-steal low level mobs. Imagine, a bunch of enthusiastic beginners are heading to defeat Shadow Behemoth when it spawns but then a bunch of level 80 bullies come and kill it off even before the beginners could land a hit. That is something ANet doesn’t want happening.
This isn’t WoW. You want that feeling of being powerful in low-level place, you can play WoW or other MMORPG.
As it is, my level 80 ele could 1-shot those Ascalonian spirits in Plains of Ashford when he crits. IMO, level scaling needs to be look into again.
I miss the days when people would read the thread before responding.
Not only that, but you continually contradict yourself by saying “It’s to prevent high-level bullies kill stealing in low level areas” then move on to say “I can one shot everything in Plains of Ashford with my level 80”. So…if that’s the case then why aren’t high level players griefing low level areas?
Especially since they can gain experience + loot while doing so? I was suggesting to remove the experience rewards from mobs outside of your level range when they are not scaled down.
Anyways, I put this suggestion out there simply because the “leveling up” experience, including being max level, was fairly underwhelming because my stats were all over the place constantly. I didn’t get a good connection to my character’s power as it was increasing because I wasn’t sure what it really was. I’m just repeating myself here, but it seems like most people aren’t understanding the ideals behind making the level scaling system OPTIONAL.
Yea, I see the word OPTIONAL there but what makes you so sure this feature will not be abused to grief lower level players at low level zones? Since they can just turn it off anytime. Kindly explain this to me.
Also, level scaling is one of GW2 selling point. It was promoted and featured even before it was launched. You very well know what you’re getting yourself into. Why whine now? You like the classic MMO feel then no one is stopping you to play a classic MMO. ANet clearly stated that they want to create a whole new experience in GW2 unlike classic MMO. It’s like, “Hey, I bought a Rolls Royce but it feels different from a Porsche. You guys should make it feel more like a Porsche.”.
I miss the old days where people learn to read what they were buying before buying and complain this isn’t what they want.

You guys are really good at finding every opportunity to complain and whine about things that is either implemented or not implemented. Seems like everything is something to complain about. Sheesh, life is complicated enough.
Elder Dragon talking to belittle and mock the players.. That sounds like the epic fail D3. In D2, none of the prime evil talks to the players. Even if they do, it’s just a short sentence. However, in D3, all the prime evils are talkative, whiny and noisy female dogs.
So, please do not let the Elder Dragons make the same mistake.
I agree with OP. Please make Bacon recipes available for the Cooking profession. How can ANet leave out the most important food of all?? Also would like to see a new category of recipes for drinks especially Coffee!!
P.S.: Some recipes including truffles, foie gras, sandwiches would be nice.
(edited by FateZero.8536)
IMO, The Dreamer should have the rainbow trail of Bifrost while The Bifrost instead of having rainbow effect, it should have aurora like effect instead. Less dreamy and more mythological. Bifrost + rainbow, lol.
I want to take a moment to discuss something about Cooking that has really bothered me from the get go. I don’t mean to bash whoever conceived it because it clearly was designed by someone who really loves cooking, but I think game-play wise it’s really cumbersome.
Cooking is used to provide bufffood which offers us powerful, yet limit duration power increases to our character. They are essentially consumables comparable to those found in almost all RPGs.
My problem with Cooking however is just how convoluted it is.
We have to juggle more than 50 different base ingredients, some of which are account bound and only purchasable from random NPCs and other which can be farmed.
Based on these 50+ base ingredients we have another 30 or so components like Dough, Sauces etc.
Then we have the 20 or so ingredients that the Cooking NPC sells directly.
Then, depending on the recipe we might have a few more intermediate items to juggle.
As an example, let’s see what it takes to produce a Bowl of Curry Butternut Squash Soup
It requires:
1 Coconut – purchased from a World Karma merchant
1 Butternut Squash – farmed item
1 Jar of Red Curry Paste – intermediate item
1 Bowl of Herbed Vegetable – intermediate itemNow the Jar of Red Curry Requires
1 Lemongrass – farmed item
1 Lime – World Karma merchant
1 Cayenne Pepper -farmed item
1 Pile of Stirfry Mix – intermediate itemNow the Pile of Stirfry Mix requires:
1 Onion – farmed item
1 Head of Garlic – farmed item
1 Ginger Root – farmed item
1 Chili Pepper – farmed itemNow the Bowl of Herbed Vegetables requires
1 Rosemary Sprig – farmed item
1 Sage Leaf – - farmed item
1 Pile of Simple Herb Stews – intermediate item
1 Bowl of Vegetable Stock – intermediate itemNow the Pile of Simple Herb Stew requires
1 Thyme Leaf – farmed item
1 Bay Leaf – farmed itemThe Bowl of Vegetable Stock requires
1 Jug of Water
1 Celery Stalk
2 Onions
2 CarrotsThe End.
Holy crap that’s almost as complicated as crafting a Legendary item. I know most of these ingredients aren’t very expensive but the fact that you have to go through so many lairs and juggle so many items is just really unnecessary. Let alone all the inventory space it takes just to cook like that.
But we’re talking about bufffood here that lasts for a mere 30 seconds. It should really not be such an inconvenience to cook such food.
It’s especially hard to understand since many of the other recipes are comparatively simple. Omnomberry Pie for example “only” requires the Omnomberry Filling and the Dough, most of which can be purchased straight from the Cooking merchant.
I really hope ANet revises some of these recipes over time and removes some of the unnecessary bloat from cooking. The ingredients bought from the merchant for example really don’t add anything to the game.
What 30 seconds? It lasts for 30 minutes mind you. I’ve maxed my Cooking profession and I can tell you it’s not troublesome at all to level up cooking. In fact, in my opinion Cooking is the easiest profession there is.
I like how offended you guys are that I said they should remove stealth. But, back to the subject of Sky Kits… The only time I think that stealth would be necessary would be the really high levels of fractals. If the mobs at those levels are really that though that you can’t beat them without using Spy Kits or even resurrection orbs, then the content isn’t balanced in my opinion. These items aren’t exploits, but oversights in the game design.
Give this guy and his party a dagger and call it a day. Since all skills and armors makes things a whole lot easier.
We all just want Truffles Trahearne dead and our mentor back.
Brilliant suggestion by the OP. Please bring back my mentor Tybalt and Forgal, they are the only good characters in the Personal Story. Heck, ANet could even assign Logan to me for all I care.
ANet just had to kill off the mentor we’ve bonded with and replace him with a talking tree.
I got a precursor through the MF, and dude, holy kitten when it pops for you, you’ll be doing back flips, side flips, triple flips, ab crunches, and pretend like you’re the best popper and locker in da house you freaking boss
I like this guy’s reaction. I’ll probably do the same.
I love GW lore but I hate doing Trahearne’s Story..
GW2 is awesome. Beats all other MMO out there. Although there are some bugs which ANet needs to iron out and also those pesky bots. There are haters in every game and titles out there, GW2 is no exception. Haters are better off playing WoW, the monotonous, single objective game.
I’m gonna sell my stack of 100+ unidentified dyes. It’s better to sell, knowing you will earn at least a few gold than to take the risk and get kittenty dyes.
P.S.: oh yea, those kittens.
I agree. Legendaries shouldn’t be tradable, precursors however is acceptable.
Got my first Ascended Ring from FotM 10 daily and I can’t wait to get my hands on the Rings which gives +103 Power, +68 Precision and +8% Critical damage.
Currently still sticking to my Exotic Rings because the only Ascended Ring I have is the Solaria which I equip it only during Fractals boss fights for the Agony Resistance.
Anet made the decision that they wanted some slight form of gear progression. Even though the stats on the new gear will not give you any advantages, if you want 1-3% increase go for it. If not a fully exotic toon can easily compete with someone who has some FOTM gear.
It’s much more than just 1-3%, as you can see from the GW2 Wiki here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_ascended_equipment
and these are just the rings and back items. They have yet to release other parts. Altogether it’s going to be a bigger advantage compared to Exotic stats.
(edited by FateZero.8536)
They shouldn’t have made Legendary tradable . Precursor to be tradable was okay, but Legendary should be at least Account bound on Acquire. I just don’t see the logic behind tradable Legendaries apart from wanting players to actually using insane amount of Gem to get them.
However, the best satisfaction is still by crafting your own Legendary weapon. Buying it from the TP will never feel the same as crafting it yourself.
I join in for dragon fights not because of the loot but because it’s the sense of working with other players that I get. Seeing a bunch of players working on the same thing is really nice. Maybe that’s just me.
I believe it’s against ANet standards to impose limit on players. They first implemented GW2 with access to all 8 crafting profession, if they were to impose a 2-craft per character limit, it will just create a distrust between the players and ANet.
Players will find it harder to believe ANet and will also lose the sense of security as the game will be changed at any point in time just because some people complained about it.
He’s the reason why I skip the animated dialogues after Trahearne received the sword. I used to like listening to the story, never skipping anything but Trahearne changed my mind.
Have to support this. Up it goes.
Personally I have nothing against this thread or the OP but looking at the way OP is behaving it really ticks me off. So what if people are doing fractals and getting Ascended Rings? Do you have to call them freaks just because they enjoy doing this dungeon?
You are not able to craft a stupid Ascended ring just because your Jeweler profession is maxed out doesn’t mean you have to open a thread to whine and stereotype fractals goers. Your mindset is akin to a kid. Show some respect, complain the proper way. If you have a problem with A-Net and their gameplay design then complain about it. There’s no need to call people freaks.
Furthermore, even if A-Net decides to make Ascended gears available outside Fractals then so be it. Fractals goers will still have their progression saved and will still be able to enjoy the challenge that the dungeon poses. Unlike you, like a kid sitting on an armchair whining about why must I go to a shop to buy this specific item, I should be able to get this online too while sitting on my armchair. You don’t like it when I phrase it as such too right?
Like I’ve stated, I have no qualms with you but the way you phrase your concerns is totally not right. There’s no need to label people as freaks or whatever. No need to belittle people just because they do things differently. I took a break from GW2 because I had Heart of the Swarm beta, when I came back and saw all the cool looking items I didn’t whine and said why must I do this to get this and that.
I find out about Fractals from my friend and I decided to give it a go even though I thought it was kitten but hey, I enjoyed all fractals run so far. Met lots of nice folks because we only have a few of us who still does low level fractals. Don’t be sour, cheers.
