No please. The day the make WvW megaserver is the day I retire from this game. Not all players want a giant blobfest. I prefer the small scale multi-front warfare.
Greetings & Welcome to Guild Wars 2!
Learning the ropes can often times be difficult. Faced with a legion of foes and information making sense of it can often be daunting. If you’ve just arrived on our shores and could use a helpful hand please reply to this post and I will mail you a Guild Wars 2 Welcome Kit. Inside this kit you will find some useful items and information to help you get started.
As always if you ever have any questions about the game feel free to contact me directly at Foghladha.2506 and I’ll be happy to try my hand at answering.

I keep hoping for a pvp style rewards style for wvw. Would be great to get dungeon rewards for doing wvw. For those of us who prefer non scripted opponents and encounters. Although I must admit, a tequatl sized pve event in the wvw lake would interest me greatly. It would be awesome to have a massive creature to try to pry away from your enemies.
Updated Calendar for new event lineup.
Schedule
See: http://www.sanctumofrall.com/ for full calendar
Pleased to announce our latest new feature to SanctumofRall.com
Realm Rewards
These bonus raffle rewards are awarded for earning higher scores in WvW. Each week as our points rise so do the rewards. There are 5 tiers of rewards available which can be unlocked based on the servers performance. Once unlocked, these reward raffles take place at Friday Reset, with a WvW participant chosen at random.
This system is designed to reward players for competing in WvW. All rewards donated by the Gaiscioch [GSCH] family for the Sanctum of Rall server.
Worst case scenario you can come out and hang out with us (Gaiscioch [GSCH]) at one of our events. Don’t need to be in our guild to do that. Check out our event calendar at: http://www.gaiscioch.com/. You’ll need to be on Sanctum of Rall for the WvW stuff. But the weekly tequatl, and missions are open to everyone on every server. Hope to see ya around
P.S. Last Chaos…. where the hardest boss was the quest hub disconnects :P
Posted our current Community Events Schedule
SOR Community Events runs them 3 times a week for players who are unable to attend their own guilds missions event. [SORC] is a temporary events guild only used to organize community events and is open to players of all Servers.
Schedule
No events on Jan 1st or Jan 7th.
I can tell you first hand this sucks, however it is a fact of life for servers that suffer splits. The decline really sucks. SOR got trapped in Silver league after our major split happened and we had no chance of finishing anywhere but last which caused us to fracture even more. It wasn’t till we hit rock bottom before things started to improve for us and now we’re slowly but surely climbing back out of last place. I suspect within a few more weeks we’ll be playing you guys.
Last week you dropped 3 places, this week you likely will drop another 2 or 3. It wont take long for you to get to sunnier shores, just be patient and know this wont last forever. Eventually you’ll be drinking martini’s with us down in T8 and T7 and putting on your congo hat.
Look up http://www.ttsgamers.com/
The Guild TTS does all of these things and is filled with the greatest hits of every guild in the game. It’s an event focused guild.
Just wanted to say Congratulations to Sanctum of Rall for turning the corner and working towards recovery. This week was the first week since Sept 10th (12 Weeks) that we broke the 200k score. Population is on the rise and so is our score. We’ve placed 2nd place 4 weeks in a row for our division after 6 weeks of being in 3rd.
This is the first step in our revival and there is a lot of potential for us in the coming weeks as DR and BP come to join the fun in the lower tiers. I want to say thank you to all of our people for making wvw the past 4 weeks such a pleasant experience for all. I also want to say thanks to Sorrows Furnace and Kaineng for showing us a good time. It’s been a lot of fun playing with you two.
X T D : If you guys cared so much about SOR why do we have 3 pages of you guys baggin on it? Why do you continue to ensure that your better than us? Why do you feel the need to try to kick someone who’s down?
If you have any love and respect for what YOU built, why do you keep kittening on it? Why not let those of us who chose to stay here, and I do mean that we chose to be here, we chose to be in Tier 8, this is “Our Doing” as you so much like to point out.
We are happy here, we are having fun, and enjoying ourselves. Not only that but we are starting to improve. We’ve crawled out of last place and are now moving back up the ranks. How high we don’t know, but the point is that RIGHT NOW, not yesterday, we finally have a Sanctum of Rall community that embraces each other and has started building that unity that X T D, Indo, Javachips, Xivor, Timmy and all of you guys fought for. So perhaps instead of spitting on us and seeing who can sling the most insults, leave us be and see what happens. Maybe it took all this to happen for our server to finally figure out it’s way. Kinda like real life, we all take bumps and bruises but in the end we end up where we need to be when we need to be.
We are trying, and succeeding, to build a new community here around a new premise, one that since has not been explored. We’re no longer fighting for the win, we’re fighting for our kin. Regardless of what happens at the end of the week we know we have each others back.
So please, if you have any pride in anything that you did at one time for Sanctum of Rall please take pride in knowing that you had your part in our story and what we become is because of the chain of events that has transpired.
Lastly Dead Servers don’t tick at 605 PPT.
https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t31.0-8/10873525_10152507925499080_3098284353738476076_o.jpg
That was this Sunday Night. Saturday at noon we were ticking 480PPT.
We may not be able to maintain that 24/7, but saying we’re a Dead Server is so far from the truth. We’re alive and well and finally starting to grow again.
I can’t speak for everyone but with that sale that just happened GSCH has had to start rotating people in and out of roster again on a 14 day window. We’re sitting near capacity now and will most likely have to open up our 2nd room again for people here soon.
The Borderlands seem to be getting more populated every day. Somehow in all this we have found a way to enjoy ourselves.
Nobody made you leave, you chose to leave. You chose to close the book on your chapter on Sanctum of Rall. What you did in that chapter is yours forever. I hope that in your time here you had fond memories, but your chapter here is done. You’ve moved on, we’ve moved on.
The rest of us chose to keep writing, keep fighting, keep believing. No good story is without strife, no victor without defeat. For an epic tale you need a rise, a fall, and a rise again. Sanctum of Rall’s tale isn’t about being #1, it’s about coming together as a group of people, enduring when others gave up, and carrying on the name regardless of the situation.
So is this really about how much you loved Sanctum of Rall, or is it ensuring that we don’t succeed so that you don’t have to wonder what could have been if you never left. With enough patience and perseverance, everyone can recover from defeat.
Xivor: buddy, I complimented you, why are you taking insult? That comment wasn’t directed at you at all. Synosius.9876 posted that to the person from HL.
This is the BIGGEST problem i’ve seen with a lot of people lately. Everyone takes everything said and applies it to themselves. I say your elitist and everyone assumes i’m talking to them. Thats not the case
Xivor, you bled SOR. Nobody can take that away from you. I have never in my days see anyone fight so hard for a server. You have nothing to feel bad about. In the history of SOR you’re our Abraham Lincoln. Pretty sure Karaoke is our John Madden, and Peanutt is our Carrot top.
X T Not a graveyard, and loving every minute of it. Those that brave this wilderness are having fun. There’s no denying that when you come onto our TS anymore. People are actually enjoying themselves, some of us for the first time in SOR history.
XTD: We chose RaidCall over TS for 1 simple reason. You guys were jerks in TS. I will not support a voice comm for a server where Jerks run the show and people are allowed to throw insults like candy on halloween.
After you left I started making an attempt to get TeamSpeak on track with a more friendly environment and Xivor and Scriptko went above and beyond to make that happen. Yet GSCH still did not use TS primarily for 1 simple reason. They did not want off server people coming to our teamspeak. I run events open to everyone regardless of their server and this would not allow us to continue doing so.
After Season 3, they dropped that mandate and allowed me to invite anyone and everyone into the Community Events channel of our TS. Since then GSCH has been 100% supportive of using TS for all Community Events and WvW.
Simple: Don’t be a jerk, and people might want to hang out with you.
P.S. The SOR Teamspeak is using a 400 person license donated by a Gaiscioch member. Hows that for irony.

Sanctum of Rall WvW
Since launch, Sanctum of Rall has been on a roller coaster of population surges and departures. We have been in first place and last place. As players flooded to our server to ride the wave up, the core encouraged and supported the new arrivals. As they began to depart our server we wished them well on their adventures.
Today the core of Sanctum of Rall is alive and well. Sanctum of Rall is best known for it’s hospitality. We hold inclusive events open to all, giveaway epic loot just for calling Sanctum of Rall home, and give commanders recognition for their war efforts. Players here are more committed to one another and the purpose of our server than most servers. For us it’s not about winning and losing, it’s about kinship and honoring a fallen brother.
What you can expect on Sanctum of Rall is a lot of heart, and a lot of friendly faces. We fight as hard as we can, when we can and at the end of the day regardless of what the scoreboard says people walk away happy and satisfied. We understand we are outnumbered and do not have the coverage to amass a competitive front.
But just as we climbed from rank 17 at launch to rank 1 a year later, the tides can change in a moments notice. It only takes a few people to see the potential and enjoy the lifestyle to change the tide and send us back up the rankings once again. For now we work on making every person count and maximize our performance for the few we have.
Whether we’re tier one or tier none, Sanctum of Rall is relentless in it’s pursuit to create epic memories and lasting friendships. Join a community that loves, appreciates, and rewards you for your efforts. Become the star of the show rather than an extra in a crowd. On Sanctum of Rall every single player makes a difference and is appreciated for their efforts. Become part of the legend, and forge a story of your own.

The Sanctum of Rall Legend
This server is not just an ordinary server. It is named after a player by the name Roger “Oldroar” Rall who suddenly passed away in his den late one evening. His passion in his last remaining years was Guild Wars 2. From researching the game through gaming websites to encouraging the founder of the Gaiscioch to make contact with ArenaNet, Oldroar took a passion for this game toting it to be the spiritual successor to Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online.
Just weeks after his passing, Foghladha finally made contact at PAX Prime 2011 with Martin Kerstein, ArenaNet’s Head of Community. Foghladha and the Gaiscioch began on a quest to have Roger immortalized by getting a server named after him. After months of building up contacts and forging a relationship with ArenaNet the Gaiscioch amassed a “CookieZerg” in an attempt to get the idea across to ArenaNet and make their name known. Thousands of sugary treats made their way from all around the globe to ArenaNet’s Bellevue, Washington offices.
Time passed and relations continued and on July 10th, the Gaiscioch made one final attempt by sending out a Call to Arms to all past and present members and community members to write ArenaNet sharing their stories of Roger with them. Seven days later a notice arrived in Foghladha’s mailbox that there would be a server named “Sanctum of Rall”. This news sent a tidal wave through the gaming industry hitting the far corners of the MMO scene. It was reported on by blogs, gaming sites, newspapers, and even magazines around the world.
Who Is Roger “Oldroar” Rall?
For those that played Warhammer Online on Badlands or Phoenix Throne, or called Faeblight home in the early months of RIFT’s existence, Oldroar was a voice you could not ignore. He lead armies into battle, created hundreds of memories for any that followed and held family values higher than any man we had ever encountered. He was a role model, a hero, an inspiration to many.
His legacy lives on through all of us. Whether you were his ally or his foe, you knew his calm stature in battle. Last September, our hero passed on leaving his wife Karen, and several thousand virtual children and grand children behind. His passing was not easy for any of us. It was sudden and unexpected.
In his final months with us he spoke of the pastures green in Guild Wars 2. He proclaimed it was the natural successor of DAOC and Warhammer Online and that it would finally be the home we’ve been searching for all along. He spent much of his time researching Guild Wars 2, posting video’s and articles of the games progress and speaking with the eldership on forming a branch within this title. He was the inspiration that made us first contact ArenaNet about Guild Wars 2 and from that has built a lasting relationship between the Gaiscioch Family and the Developers of Guild Wars 2.
A wise woman once said that a man’s legacy is not held in what he owned at his time of death. Cars, boats, houses, all the money in the world instantly evaporates upon your exit from this life. None of it matters. Your Legacy is held within the people you impact in your lifetime. The lives you save, the lives you change, and the lives you bring to this world. Roger has changed many of us. His legacy did not die when he left this world. He passed it on to us, trusting that we would pass it on to generations to come. It began as a little wave and has rippled through all of us. It is now up to us, to make his legacy known and pass it on to others.

About the Sanctum of Rall
The Sanctum of Rall server is home to many of the largest and most well known public community event based guilds in Guild Wars 2. The server community is devoted to building a fun and friendly environment for all walks of life and playstyle preferences.
Even before its launch the server was born by friendship and unity. Through the course of our time here on Sanctum of Rall we hope to give a platform for creating friendships, memories, and a community like no other.
Sanctum of Rall has been through several seasons, each one bringing new faces and ushering old friends to newfound shores. We’ve had our competitive streak and rose to the top where we sat in the top position for 8 weeks.
While the journey to first place wore a lot of people thin we began to see that the more competitive we became the more stress and frustration filled our server. By the end of the first wvw season our empire would fall, and with it came our first exodus. A valuable lesson came with this that we should never allow scores to get between our brothers in arms. Our server shed it’s truly competitive shell and began to form a tighter bond among its people.
The second season trapped our community in a tier it could not compete with and by the time it ended, the remaining few who held onto the days of old were pushed from our shores.
Today we are reminded of where we began. We did not begin on top. We were not the best there was. We didn’t come to Sanctum of Rall because it was the most competitive atmosphere . We came here to honor a man who put his best foot forward and genuinely cared about the people he led. Where unity and friendship trumped victory. Where the real victory was in the adventures you shared with newfound friends. Sanctum of Rall isn’t about winning and losing, it’s about celebrating the little victories life brings us and sharing those moments with the ones we hold dear.
Sanctum of Rall is a living testament to the kindness in all of us that shines bright in the darkest time. It’s about standing for something when nobody else will. While our days at the top may have passed, our days of kinship and brotherhood illuminate the path of our future.
If you’re looking for a competitive server you may be disappointed here but if you’re looking for a family to share epic battles, memorable adventures, a good laugh and a low stress environment look no further. We may not have the coverage to be a major contender on the battlefield but every time the Sanctum of Rall family rides into battle we leave our mark on our foes and the minds of our comrades. There is no greater victory than winning the battle you should have lost. Those are the battles we fight every day. Every day a new opportunity for an epic memory to share with those we hold closest.
Others Have A Name, We Have A Legend!
(edited by Foghladha.2506)
Reverence,
Explain this:
FACT: To win in WvW you need PPT
YOUR ACCUSATION: If you take keeps and towers your Karma Farming
So how exactly are you supposed to gain PPT without sieging again?
Wildstar? Really? We got back every player that left for WS a week after they left and they even brought more people with them when they came back. Wildstar was a flashfire of epic proportions. Not even Star Wars had that quick of a turnaround. It was like “Hey guys lets go swimming! Oh snap thats freaking cold I’m outta here” Some returned the very next day.
The thing that really drives me crazy is this line " (all major guilds) ". This alone has been the bane of Sanctum of Rall’s existence since the “Major Guilds” arrived on the shores of Sanctum of Rall. They preach a united community but if you’re not on the WvW map 24/7 you’re not a major guild. Then you get alienated and pushed out and asked to stay off the map while the Major Guilds go and do all the work. Then when fit hits the shan who’s to blame? The lesser guilds for not helping.
Let’s look at the facts. Right before season 1, IRON went back home leaving a gap in our coverage. I loved IRON, those guys were stand up people and a ton of fun to fight along side. I get that, this was a major hit to our community right before S1 kicked off. What happened next, truly was messed up and you can blame wildstar or gaiscioch or whoever you like but that does not change the teamspeak meeting that decided our fate. If we didn’t throw a match to drop out of T1 FEAR was going to leave SOR. If we did throw a match CHOO was going to leave SOR. Lets see. Lose a 500 person guild or lose a 500 person guild. Good choices here and the rest of SOR just had to take whatever fate was delt out. You can dance around it all you like but in the end that doesn’t change the fact that FEAR left because we wouldn’t throw a match, causing us to drop to Tier 2 where CHOO TW and so many others chose to split as well. In the end we lost everything and it sure as hell wasn’t because of Wildstar or a guild that you all asked to stay off the field before thursday.
Sanctum of Rall is right where it needs to be now. We dropped all the way to the bottom. Bled out every single player that held onto that “All Major Guilds” or “WvW Guilds” mentality. What we have left is the TRUE nature of SOR. Good, Honest, Caring people who join together night after night regardless of the guild tag above their head and work together to crawl out of this hole we were dumped in. Now anywhere we go from here is on Us. The REAL SOR.
I give a huge shout out to all of Sanctum of Rall: FoW, WF, NICE, Aco, EG, WR, SoR, SIN, Hope, EVIL, LEM, ECTO, TID, PPP, POTE, ESC, CWAR, UO, FBB, Ale, ISA, ecto, TRS, FoF, OCX, PH, GSCH, and sooooo many others that join us out there night after night for some fun in WvW. Anywhere we go from here is on us. We’ve got a fresh canvas and we know how to paint it red.
We may be down, but we certainly ain’t out.
Personally, I like tier 8. I’ve done T1 – T8 and have to say that by the time you hit T8, all those “Pro” players are pretty much gone and what you’re left with is humble players, who will duel you fairly, jump in a party with you and chat, and the guilds are just out there to have fun. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to the roid rage testosterone fest that goes on in Tier 1. Tier 1 reminded me a lot of playing d1a ball. Everyone thought they were pro caliber and 90% of them couldn’t even pull their own weight. Not saying everyone in Tier 1 is bad, I know for a fact there are some Phenomenal players and guilds up there that I had the ability to face off with and learn from, but all in all you get a lot of trash talk, big expectations, and big egos that thrive on tearing other people down to make themselves feel better about themselves.
As I said in college, I just wanna play ball. People in T8 are out there because they love the game and want to play it. We don’t have to be the best at everything, we’re allowed to screw up and make a bad call, when you make an error it’s not blasted all over the forums, all over the official sites, and teamspeaks, and talked about for weeks on end. You move on to the next play.
Regarding BP, I feel your pain, we’ll keep the yak’s warm till you get here and hopefully you’ll find the change of pace refreshing. If that does happen, Kaineng. I’m gonna miss you guys. SN and SIN have been a ton of fun to face off with and I love the duels we’ve been sharing the past couple weeks. It’s been a real pleasure facing off against KN and SF the past two weeks. Thanks for the fights guys. If we go up, we’re gonna have to drag ya with us.
(edited by Foghladha.2506)
So sorry to hear this. The loss of a friend and realmate is a lot of times much harder to handle than expected. I remember when Roger passed I was torn up to no end. He was my right hand man and stepping on the battlefield without him just didn’t feel right. The best we can do is live to honor them and always keep them in your thoughts. As long as they are in your thoughts they never truly die. They live on through you and your actions which live on through others.
My deepest condolences.
I acknowledge that SOR is in last place on the WvW leaderboards, but I hardly agree SOR is dead. Over the past 2 months we’ve had a significant surge of new players, so much I ended up running a welcome to guild wars 2 event last weekend and will be continuing it this weekend. We had close to 40 participants last week, getting escorted around showing them what a world boss was and how to get to WvW.
Are we going to be a powerhouse like we were back when TW, CHOO, FEAR ran the show? Doubtful. SOR is in full recreational WvW mode now. People go out they have fun for a few hours then they leave. Thats life on SOR WvW right now.
Unless some guilds or mass amounts of new players join SOR we will likely stay there. The part that cracks me up is how many of the “Ex-SOR” players have to go point and make fun of us when this is an effect of them leaving.
Since this game launched GSCH has done it’s best to accommodate players and what they need. When Indo and company asked us to stay off the field until Thursday, we abided for almost a year. Until the queues were gone. We in fact moved our regular 6-9PM PST event to 12 – 3AM PST so that we could help out at night. We instead hosted events to put legendaries into SOR members hands being most serious WvW players don’t have time to get that stuff. So we GAVE AWAY 9 Legendary Weapons. Including Eternity. We started hosting community wide Guild Missions multiple times a week so everyone on the server could get credit.
Our community is built around professional lives. We’re not a community that has players with a lot of time. We don’t schedule our lives around our gametime, we schedule gametime around our lives.
For example. Free time is not something I have. I run the technology department for my company by day, play and manage 3 football (Competitive Mens, Recreational Coed , and Recreational Mens) teams by weeks end, bowl competitively on mondays, have a wife and a child, maintain 14 different web sites, and run Gaiscioch in 2 different games. Did I mention I also run Gaiscioch Magazine and our charity events?
I get between 12 hours a week to play games. 6 During primetime, 6 during the middle of the night. Thats my life. I don’t get the luxury of playing games 40 hours a week. Those days left me in jr. high school.
Many of our members are in the same boat. They don’t have a whole lot of time to play so we all manage our schedules and pencil in time to be together. The rest of the week is spotty at best. We’ve got several scheduled events each week but we rarely see more than 20 GSCH at any of them. Most of the time it’s between 9 – 15 GSCH and whoever we can find on SOR.
Gaiscioch is built from the ground up as a place where active professionals can have a chance to be a part of a community. Most of us have been kicked out of other guilds for not being active enough.
I’m sorry if you are placing your own ideas of what the average player is, on our community because thats not the case. Our average member spends 8 hours a week in game. Thats it. It’s not because we don’t want to, it’s because our lives are that busy. Games are what we do for fun.
As I said loooooong ago.
“Tier one or Tier none does not matter, We are here to stay.”
Sanctum of Rall is our home, and we will continue doing what we can, when we can. Aside from that, it’s up to each player to decide how they want to spend their day. If theres a WvW guild that wants to fight then I welcome you to come over. We will welcome you with open arms so long as you realize. What you see now from GSCH is all you’re going to get. The rest is on you. Life simply doesn’t allow us the freedom to play as often as we like. I’m sorry if that makes you angry, but thats how it is. Families and Real Lives come first ALWAYS.
Additionally the day they take SOR away from us is the day we leave Guild Wars 2. Were playing GW2 to honor a fallen friend. When his tribute server is gone so will we fade into the mists. I’d rather be last place and still honor my friends memory that be first and let it fade.
(edited by Foghladha.2506)
Thanks Teon, it should be a pretty fun run. We’ve been testing it for the past few weeks and have gotten a pretty good turnout. Lot of new people coming into the game with the sales going on.
First and Foremost Welcome to Guild Wars 2!
I wanted to take a moment to invite anyone who is new to Guild Wars 2 to join us this weekend (11/29) at 9:30AM PST in Queensdale for our very first Guild Wars 2 101 and Social Hour event. This event will take place every Saturday Morning from 9:30AM – 12:30PM PST. Here’s the event lineup:
9:30AM – 10:30AM: Guild Wars 2 101: Orientation & Getting to know the world.
This week we will cover how to get from your starting zone to Lions Arch and the other starting zones as well as how to get to WvW before level 18. There will be a small welcome gift for all characters under level 20 who are experiencing Guild Wars 2 for the first time. Following weeks will cover the basics of condition fields, the various event types, jumping puzzles, waypoint runs, hidden mini-bosses, and help players learn the basics about building a solid character build. Players from all servers are welcome.
10:30AM – 11:30AM: Social Hour with Sanctum of Rall
Join us for a rotation of fun and casual friendly events ranging from Living Story events, Dragon & Boss hunts, Jumping Puzzle, Mini-Dungeons, Rare Event Hunts, Introduction to Guild Missions, and More. 11:30AM – 12:30PM: Sanctum of Rall Meet-The-Commanders in WvW
All levels are welcome for this massive gathering of familiar faces on the WvW battleground. Each week commanders will take a different small team for some small scale teaching sessions to help new players learn the mechanics of WvW. Each week players can rotate leaders to get to know all of the various personalities and leading styles on the Sanctum of Rall Battlefield. Going Beyond The Game
Charity Involvement
For the past 5 years the Gaiscioch has been heavily involved in Children’s Charities. From participating in the annual Extra Life Charity event to the DoubleUp Charity Event hosted by Gaiscioch, we have done our best to contribute to children’s charity and aid them in having the opportunity to make epic memories of their own. In addition we have supported Pink Day in LA and have gone pink for the entire month of October in every game we play for the past 4 years.

The Gaiscioch Pioneers
This team was originally put together for Trion World’s RIFT as a core group of players that can be summoned on call to provide game development studios with an on call testing team. Since it’s launch they have helped test and provide feedback on dozens of games. We continue to help play our part within the development community by attending real world focus groups, behind the scenes testing, and by writing documentation for development teams to review.

Join one of our Weekly Events!
Sanctum of Rall Community Events [SORC]
In 2013 the Gaiscioch created an events guild that would allow players from any guild receive guild commendations for running the Guild Missions. This is a temporary guild where invites are handed out before the event and players are removed based on the last time they logged in. Each week we host several [SORC] Events helping players from all servers get credit for the weekly Guild Mission achievements. Additionally we use this guild during social hour to help coordinate players across several zones.
Weekly Events For Everyone
The Gaiscioch community does not require you to be a member to join us for one of our adventures. Each day we have dozens of pick up events but our major community events are scheduled in advance and run during set timeframes each week. Feel free to join us for one of our many events and experience what we’re all about.
Regardless of the tag above your head feel free to join us for one of these events. For a full list of community events and more information about our community visit:

Céad Míle Fáilte!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to the Gaiscioch of Sanctum of Rall and welcome you to join our weekly activities regardless of your Guild or Server affiliation.
First and foremost “Gaiscioch is not the guild for all, it’s the family for many”. We are not an exclusive community where we require representation. Instead we are an inclusive community that welcomes all players to join in our activities regardless of their guild or server.
The History of the Gaiscioch
The Gaiscioch was founded in 2001 as a casual gaming community focused on creating memorable events, and lasting friendships. Gaiscioch has traveled through Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer Online, RIFT, Elder Scrolls Online, and Guild Wars 2 over it’s 13 year history.
We are best known for our large scale public community events such as the Battle for Badlands (Warhammer Online), the Telara Saga (RIFT), and the Great Tyrian Adventure (Guild Wars 2). Our commitment to community goes beyond the game with our involvement in children’s charities, and also with game development studios like ArenaNet, Trion Worlds, and ZeniMax Online.
Today the community is still run by its original founder, Benjamin “Foghladha” Foley, and has an unbreakable commitment to the Sanctum of Rall server.
Why Sanctum of Rall?
The Sanctum of Rall holds a very special meaning to the Gaiscioch. Our being here is a living testament to the life of Roger “Oldroar” Rall, a fallen member of the Gaiscioch Family. In the years prior to launch Roger lead troops into battle in Warhammer Online with calm and rational demeanor. He was a fatherly figure to most of the Gaiscioch members and not only helped people in their gaming life but also in their real lives.
He watched a little game called Guild Wars 2 enter the future MMORPG scene and became obsessed with every tidbit of news and information that became available for the title. He believed this would be the best home for our community and wanted to do everything he could to encourage us to come here.
Just months before alpha began, Roger suddenly passed away at his desk. This sent a ripple through not only our community but into the rest of the gaming world. News of his passing was seen on every major gaming network and players from both sides of Warhammer Online’s community came out of the woodwork to offer condolences in support. That is when we decided that sink or swim we had to put a living monument into Guild Wars 2 to remember Roger’s legacy. We began with a letter writing campaign and followed it with a “CookieZerg” to try to bribe ArenaNet with sugary treats. Our first request was declined but former community manager Martin Kerstein didn’t give up and neither did we. In the final hours before Beta 2 began we received note that a server would be opened in his memory by the name of Sanctum of Rall.
Our commitment to our server is not one of who has the highest ranking in WvW, or who has the most Tequatl kills. It has nothing to do with loot or accolades, or even where the major population of similar guilds are. Our Server is a living monument to a man that changed a lot of our members lives for the better. We will be on Sanctum of Rall until the day they close the server and continue keeping Rogers torch lit.

(edited by Foghladha.2506)
Gaiscioch [GSCH] and several others are still playing our hearts out on Sanctum of Rall, however we’re not playing all the time every day. We have scheduled events when we go out into WvW. The rest of the time we’re doing our own thing whether its pve or wvw or spvp. When we’re out the field doesn’t look like that. Last night for example we were ticking at the high 200’s with Hella Vanka, X P O W E R, Cara, and I running tags together manning all warzones at the same time. We had waypoints in all 3 SOR keeps by the time we signed out.
But that’s just it. On Sanctum of Rall eventually the party stops and people go to bed or do other things. We don’t have coverage every day and it should not be expected of a Tier 3 server let alone a Tier 7 or 8. Sanctum of Rall is a very casual WvW styled approach where scheduled events get our largest turnouts. If you want hard core fighting SOR is not the place to be. Those of us who remain here and call it home are happy where we are and are having fun doing what we can when we can. We don’t expect to be the best, we only want to come out and have fun when we can.
So many people are so high strung about this it makes me scratch my head. It’s a GAME, it’s supposed to be FUN. If you’re not having fun change the way you’re playing or who you’re playing with. People just need to relax and get back to having fun.
You can’t even equip an off hand weapon until level 7, there’s even a restriction on when you can swap to the secondary weapon set (somewhere in the teens I think) Why would you want a level 2 with (1) 1 handed weapon running with you? Don’t kill the uplevel? No, tourney taught us the uplevel is the spy and ALL green arrows must pay. I understand the irritation from those that have run a lowbe in there, but, think back, how long did it take you to get acclimated? Did you kill anyone with your white armor and weapons? Some things are worth waiting for, be thankful, it could be longer.
I don’t care if you’re naked fighting with a stick. If you want to WvW you can follow me any day of the week.
It is incredibly easy and fast to level up. You can get to 18 in an hour or two of focused play. Especially if you’ve got higher level friends to help you out.
Last night an long missing guild mate joined GW2 and we told him to get through the tutorial and he could come and WVW with us. Much to our surprise he could not due to the fact that he was not level 18. When did this happen? Why did this happen? One of the greatest thing about the game was being able to do WVW or PVE with the guild at any level. Not a new player friendly change.
Because people were abusing it to create troll siege and do other annoying things
So the person would spend 19.99 or 39.99 to build troll siege? This limit is only for new accounts. If they had a toon already they wouldn’t be limited. I find it hard to believe someone would spend that much real world cash to be a moron. But then again we also have peopleofwalmart.com….
I would think ArenaNet would just add a right click option to siege to allow people to report troll siege and store the name of the person who placed it. Thus allowing them to lock out accounts who perform such actions. If enough people report it the siege destroys itself. Would be a much more community friendly solution that this.
No, you see that during LEAGUES arena net almost ALWAYS had a “try out GW2 for a month for free” trail going just before or at the start of the tourney. This meant that people could create FREE accounts that they used to troll with. Said accounts was disabled once their trail period was up, thus they just made a new one. This circle went on and on and on. It was/is also one of the driving forces behind WHY arenanet is struggling to stop the siege trolling. Because A LOT if not most of the trolls are using trail accounts.
Why not just put this limit on trial accounts then?
Been pondering some ideas to help improve the dynamic in WvW and help some of the servers that lack coverage and the ability to compete be able to stay in the game through the end of the match. Thus keeping the top dog busy and the battlefield active. This would also help keep scores closer throughout the week keeping people in the fight.
My proposal breaks apart matchups into different perks for each place.
Removing Cross Swords
1st place should have no swords
2nd place should have a 30 second delay on swords
3rd place should show swords instantly.
Build Timers
1st place Upgrades build 50% slower
2nd place Upgrades build at normal speed
3rd place Upgrades 50% faster
NPC’s
1st Place NPC’s have 25% less HP
2nd place NPC’s are normal
3rd Place NPC’s have 25% more HP
Siege
1st Place: Siege Weapons Cost 10 Supply More to Build
2nd Place: No Effect
3rd Place: Siege Weapons Cost 10 Supply Less to Build
By creating these tiered buffs you would make it so the underdog would have more of a shot of staying competitive to the end. I don’t know anyone that enjoys playing a blowout match. It would be better to keep things close.

Greetings,
I don’t normally like to complain but I really think this needs to be adjusted. With the 19.99 sale I managed to get several new people to try the game so that they could experience WvW with us only to find none of them can WvW until 18. I don’t remember that being in the patch notes and I have confirmed that you can still WvW under 18 if you have another character on your account over 18.
What this does is force people to play a certain playstyle they might not enjoy for the first 18 levels. Guild Wars 2’s moto was Play how you want. This is not the case anymore as a Player can’t pick up and play GW2 solely for WvW. They are now being forced to PvE.
I highly recommend this change to be reversed as it deters players from getting hooked on the content they came for and forces them to play a way they don’t want to. I leveled each one of my 4 level 80’s in WvW alone, entered at level 2, had my commander tag by level 11. That was the experience I came here for. What personal story mission am I on? I still need to go to the tavern in Divinity’s Reach. Some of us don’t play GW2 for PvE. You should encourage that.
If I had these kind of forced gameplay mechanics in place it would be less likely I would have decided to come here.
Play How You Want…. Stay true to your credo ArenaNet
UPDATE
Here’s my suggestions ArenaNet:
With those 2 bullets I just cured the problem and kept the game friendly for everyone. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.
(edited by Foghladha.2506)
Thanks Sergie, I really like the variety that Guild Wars 2 brings to the battlefield. Months ago when we were in T1 our tactics we’re totally different than they are today. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience all of these different styles of play. It’s been quite a journey and I’m happy to say that whatever the tier, there’s fun to be had, battles to be fought, and tactics to deploy. Finding that fit for your community will definitely preserve your enjoyment and keep you playing at the level you enjoy.
If anyone needs a vacation from the grind of the top tiers feel free to snag one of those $19.99 copies of Guild Wars 2 and join us on Sanctum of Rall, the Bora Bora of Guild Wars 2. Sorry shameless plug ;D
Yeah typically the more further down the rankings the more you get those 2 v 2 / 15 v 15’s. In the lower tiers you can really feel like you made a difference with just a few friends. Heck I see a lot of solo capping going on late night. In T1 you could never dream of pulling some of those tactics off without a zerg landing on your head.
Hey Krayse, check out http://www.sanctumofrall.com/ We have several who are still active at those times. My Community Gaiscioch still runs a lot of WvW in the oceanic primetime – late evening. You can check us out at http://www.Gaiscioch.com/ and see if it looks like something interesting to you. Feel free to PM me at: Foghladha.2506 anytime. Would be happy to help you find a home
The Matchup Breakdown
Now being Football season I’ll make an analogy for you all about choosing a server by it’s tier.
Tier 1 & 2: The NFL
These are the pinnacle of the competitive WvW servers. They are focused solely on the first few of the Goals above and PPT rules all. These servers typically have the best coverage, the most aggressive guilds, and a very competitive attitude.
Pros:
Cons:
Tier 3 & 4: NCAA
These servers typically are on the rise. They are competitive focused but lack the coverage to be a serious contender in Tier 1 & 2. Typically you see them recruiting from Tier 1 and 2 with promises of future glory.
Pro:
Cons:
Tier 5 & 6: High School
These servers are future thinking. They are working on planning a foundation that will lead them to higher glory. Usually these servers are in the rebuilding phase of trying to attract the competitive players to their server so that they can begin to make the climb into the higher tiers.
Pros:
Cons:
Tier 7 & 8: Recreational Beer League
These servers could care less what the PPT is at the end of the week so long as they had a good time. In my time in WvW I must say some of my funnest nights have been in these tiers. The attitudes are light, by now most of the seriously competitive players have left for other shores and what’s left is the people who just care about sharing some time with friends and having a good laugh.
Pros:
Cons
In The End
You need to find the type of community you want to be a part of. Whether its an established champion like Blackgate or Jade Query, or an Up And Comer like Isle of Janthir or Northern Shiverpeaks, or you just want to share a pint and a spike with some great people and have a good laugh with folks like Sanctum of Rall and Ferguson’s Crossing. In the end we all play this game for different goals.
Success is a matter of Perspective, not a mechanic. For some being champion is Success, for others making a difference on the battlefield when they can is Success, for others it’s sharing a good laugh with friends. Each of our goals are different and thats what makes this game so beautiful.
We have so many great cultures and lifestyles all blended into these 8 tiers. Whatever your playstyle theres a home waiting for you.
(edited by Foghladha.2506)
Greetings Everyone,
Over the past 2 years I’ve been at the back of the pack and the front of the pack. The playstyles of the servers all in between are vastly different. I know many guilds are looking for new homes and I would like to take some time to explain the climates within various servers as I see it.
Your Focus
First and foremost you need to decide where you as a guild stands. Why do you play WvW? Is it to be part of the best server in GW2? Is it to be the best in your timeslot? Is it to be a part of a community? These are all questions you need to ask and discover the answer to. You can not have success with your team without knowing where you stand and what your after.
The Many Goals of WvW
When you break WvW down to a mechanic there are several things at play.
Server Rankings: Rank each of our servers from 1 to 24 or 27 depending on the region. This metric was placed into game to be the Unicorn that the competitive in nature chase. Without this piece ArenaNet would not be able to ensure the competitive nature of WvW and keep the most competitive players playing.
Points Per Tick: This allows competitive players to gauge how successful they have been in raising their servers overall score. Competitive players will be compelled to drive this higher.
Objectives: Scattered throughout the battlefield these provide players with targets to try to overtake. Some communities focus on taking as many as possible, some focus on holding as many as possible. In the end the mechanic of WvW is centered around taking and holding objectives. Most players will play WvW to do so.
These are the primary elements to WvW. After that you get some of the Meta games including:
GvG & Duels: Guild on Guild Action is quite popular. There are large portions of communities that love to get in on this action and hopefully someday ArenaNet will encourage some structured GvG action.
Karma Farming: This focuses on taking a lot of objectives quickly avoiding the majority of fights in exchange for high turnover in rewards including wEXP, EXP, Gold, Loot, and Karma. This is traditionally a fan favorite of casual communities.
The Fights!: Many guilds play WvW for the fights. The scoreboard plays secondary and they are just looking to find an opponent to fight. I see a whole lot of these types out there that will even forgo the reward if it means they have something to kill.
Psycological Warfare: Some players find a ton of enjoyment in tricking their enemy into doing things they want them to do. This can be a really fun metagame if you’re good at it. There’s nothing like having your opponent open a door for you so you can steal it away from them. Some players prefer PvP over PvE because PvP involves Psychology. It’s more of a sport than just a game.
Complitionists: These players are out for achievements and map completion. You will find them occasionally out there and they are motivated by achievements. Unlike the PPT chasers they chase a different metric being their achievement score.
Now these are just a few of the types of WvW fun you can find out there. What you want to think about is why do you play?
(edited by Foghladha.2506)
If they push into first then they adopt the 1st place debuffs. The side with the lowest score would be able to counter assaults better and assault the 1st place team easier than they would the 2nd place team. This would be a dynamic system so if 3rd place replaces 1st place on wednesday they are now the 1st place and have those debuffs, while the new 3rd place gets the buffs.
What you mention “What should happen is more incentive for 2nd and 3rd place to attack 1st place rather than each other” is exactly what this is getting at. The top dog is weaker than the other two and thus more prone to attack. Also less prone to boredom.

Scheduled & Unscheduled Events
Gaiscioch believes in giving the power to the player. Guild leaders and officers are not required to form and hold events. Every player in the community is allowed to run their events with a little guidance. We share a wide range of activities from dungeons, to dragon runs, to zone clears, to WvW sieges and exploration every week. Our community is global so members will be on at all hours of the day. Best of all Gaiscioch runs inclusive events for everyone. Guild membership is not required for participation in our events.

Our Commitment To Sanctum of Rall
Over the years, rumors have circulated about our departure from Sanctum of Rall. Let me assure you this will not happen. The only way we leave Sanctum of Rall is if ArenaNet takes it from us. Sanctum of Rall and our Guild Wars 2 chapter are a living memorial to a dear friend and companion. As long as the candle burns bright we will continue to keep it lit.
Over the past 2 years we have gone above and beyond for our server offering massive prizes including 8 Legendary weapons, over 200 20-Slot bags, and over 1,400 Exotic weapons. In addition we help keep our community site fun and up to date. Regardless of what the rumor mill says we will not leave Sanctum of Rall. The day it closes is the day we leave Guild Wars 2. Anything less would be disrespectful to the memory of our dear friend Roger “Oldroar” Rall.

Going Beyond The Game
The Gaiscioch Family has gone past just being an in game guild and has taken an active role in game development and out of game communities.
Gaiscioch Pioneers
We work closely with game developers to help address key issues hindering progress within their titles and participate in focus groups and testing to ensure the games we call home are as successful as we can help make them. The Gaiscioch Pioneers were formed to be a front line testing team that can analyse data and present the development team with ideas and perspectives. This team has worked with ArenaNet, ZeniMax Online, Trion Worlds, Mythic Entertainment, Carbide Studios, NC Soft, and Black Eye Games.
Gaiscioch Magazine
Additionally we have our very own digital magazine which has featured members of the Guild Wars 2 team including Colin Johanson. Our magazine features guides, feature stories, and addresses many in game and out of game issues that gamers like yourself face. This is not just a gaming magazine, it’s a gamer life magazine.
Read the Magazine At: http://www.gaiscioch.com/magazine
Charity Involvement
The Gaiscioch participate in several charity events each year. For the past 4 years the Gaiscioch have ranked in the top 25 during the Extra Life Charity Event which benefits the Children’s Miracle Network and we host our own DoubleUp Charity Event during the Spring and Summer sending kids in need cuddly stuffed animals to give them a friend in their darkest hour. Our community is committed to making a difference in this world.
Learn more about our charity involvement at: http://eso.gaiscioch.com/charity/
Athletics
One of our lesser known features is that we encourage athletic activity and competition. The Gaiscioch currently have two Flag-Football teams in Portland, Oregon which compete in tournaments in the Pacific Northwest. They recently won the Comcast SportsNet Summer Football Challenge sweeping all 6 games. Additionally we have a bowling team and uniforms ready to order to support teams spawning up all over the continental USA.
Learn more at: http://www.gaisciochfootball.com/
Gaiscioch is an Inclusive Community
We allow people to participate in what we do even if they are not part of the guild.
To us player satisfaction is more important, than the guild they are affiliated with.
It’s not the loot and accolades we walk away with,
it’s the memories and friendships that we cherish forever.

THE GAISCIOCH SOCIAL GAMING COMMUNITY
Homepage: http://www.gaiscioch.com/

The Gaiscíoch (Pronounced: Gosh-Kia) Family began as a social gaming community in the industry pioneering MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot. We began on the Nimue server on November 11th, 2001, with a focus on creating a fun and enjoyable community for players of all ages and skill levels.
With our roots firmly attached in the Celtic Mythological Cycle, the Gaiscíoch hold honor, respect, integrity, and fellowship, over hierarchy and dictatorship. Today the Gaiscíoch family spans many games, sports, and social circles.
We are a social casual gaming community with a relaxed approach toward gaming. We allow our members to play how they want, when they want, as long as they want and do not constrict them with quotas or requirements. It is through gaming, athletic competition, and social interaction that we forge new friendships and relationships.
The Family Lifestyle
Our foundation is based on the Casual Gaming lifestyle. Low to No requirements, humorous attitudes, and very laid back gameplay. While we are typically one of the Largest Families in the games we play, we have become this way by leading by example, giving everyone a fair chance to enjoy playing by our side. We do not hold grudges, do not isolate ourselves, do not force people to play a certain way. We simply provide an organized front for everyone in the family and out to enjoy playing by our side.
Family membership is run just like a family. There might come a day when a member may move out, but if they decide that they would like to come back our doors are always open to them so long as they have not violated our only rule. Blades out, not in. Members may not attack another member, verbally, physically, or in any other way. Doing so will lead to banishment from the family. The most important thing you will learn being around us is, If you aren’t having fun don’t do it. Having fun and building friendships are our focus.
The Gaiscioch Experience
First and foremost you do not need to be a Gaiscioch to enjoy the Gaiscioch experience. Our team of seasoned event leaders plans, schedule, and hosts large scale public events for everyone on our server. We do not limit events to members only. In addition our community pools their efforts together to help produce prizes and giveaways for major public community events as well as putting together “welcome kits” for new players just getting started in the game. It’s not the tag above your head that is important, it’s the stories you share and friendships you make that remain with you over the test of time. Gaiscioch is all about creating those memories and friendships.
The Gaiscioch Lifestyle
The Gaiscioch Family is relaxed in approach and we allow our members the freedom to play how they want, when they want, as long as they want. We do not require attendance, or have quotas. We allow our members to try other guilds if they so desire and treat them as family even still. The Gaiscioch is not about what tag is above a characters head. It is about showing people a good time, making friends and memories. Even if that means that a person joins another guild in game. Player satisfaction is the single most important goal.
As long as a member abides by our code of conduct, inside or out of our family we allow them to join and leave as often as they like and even allow them to use our websites participation and leadership system as well as the marketplace. Many of our family have later become guild leaders of their own and often find themselves joining our Tuatha. We are pleased to assist members in forming their own guilds and support them in doing so.

About The Gaiscioch Family [GSCH]
The Gaiscioch were formed in 2001 as a social gaming community focused on hosting inclusive events for players of any guild or community to attend. Over the years we have played host to some of the largest community events in the history of gaming including more than 800 people in a single event. Guild membership is never required to attend our events. Our past events have included: The Great Tyrian Adventure (Guild Wars 2), Telara Saga (RIFT), and the Battle for Badlands (Warhammer Online).

About SOR Community Events [SORC]
SORC was created by Gaiscioch in 2013 as a temporary event guild used to award credit for community guild missions to anyone and everyone who needed it. Players are invited at the start of the event and afk players are rotated out as they go dormant. Notifications of events are sent out to each member before the start of each event.
